A new biopic about Michael Jackson titled ‘Michael’ arrives in theaters nationwide on April 24. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film stars Jaafar Jackson, the late pop superstar’s nephew and son of Jermaine Jackson, in the title role. A new First Look featurette was made available Monday following an extended trailer that expands upon initial images from a teaser trailer. The film tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson Five to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world.
The principal cast includes Miles Teller as John Branca, Jackson’s advisor and attorney, Colman Domingo as the singer’s father Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Jackson’s mother Katherine Jackson, and Jessica Sula as LaToya Jackson. Larenz Tate portrays Berry Gordy, Motown Records founder, Kat Graham plays Diana Ross, and Laura Harrier portrays music executive Suzanne de Passe. The film highlights both Jackson’s life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, giving audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before.
