Brian Quinn is stepping out from the multi-platinum shadow of Candlebox to claim his own sonic territory. Today marks the arrival of “Until Fall,” a debut solo single that introduces what Quinn calls “dark country”—a heavy, introspective fusion of hard rock, blues, and country-rock. After a decade as the lead guitarist for Candlebox, where he recorded five albums and toured the global circuit with legends like Jerry Cantrell and Metallica, this track marks the start of a deeply personal chapter. It is an assertive pivot that trades polished radio trends for raw, unfiltered honesty.
The single carries a decade of history within its notes. Though Quinn originally wrote the track in 2012, he held it back until the timing matched his creative evolution. Produced alongside award-winning engineer Ron DiSilvestro at the legendary Studio 4, the recording process utilized the same halls that hosted icons like Bob Dylan and The Police. The result is a sound that feels lived-in and authoritative, anchored by a seasoned lineup including bassist Mike Vlaanderen and keyboardist Dustin Napoli. Quinn’s guitar work remains central, but it is his vocal delivery that drives this underdog story of resilience.
Lyrically, “Until Fall” explores the isolation of the road and the relentless pursuit of purpose. Quinn describes the project as a full-circle return to his roots, leaning into darker themes that standard country music often avoids. “With this project, my goal is to forge a new sound built from all of my musical influences,” Quinn explains. “It’s heavier than the current polished version of country music, and the lyrical content leans darker.” This isn’t a mere side project; it is the gateway to a larger body of work currently in development.
The launch is supported by a new lyric video produced by Brian Bortnick, with a feature-length music video directed by James Callahan set to follow. “Until Fall” is available now on all major streaming platforms, serving as a reminder that emotionally driven rock is evolving rather than fading. Quinn is operating with maximum momentum, positioning this release as the first milestone in a journey that documents his life in music. “This isn’t just a new batch of songs,” Quinn says. “It’s a full-circle return to the music I’ve always been destined to make.”
