Shane MacGowan Honored By Springsteen, Hozier And Jessie Buckley

Shane MacGowan’s legacy takes center stage this fall with ‘20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan’, a tribute album arriving November 13. The project brings together a powerful cross-section of voices, including Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Hozier and Oscar winner Jessie Buckley, all interpreting the work of The Pogues frontman.

Buckley joins Hozier on a collaborative track, while Springsteen leads the first release with his version of “A Rainy Night in Soho.” The song lands with weight and reverence, pulling MacGowan’s writing into a new voice while holding onto its emotional core. The strength of the material carries through, proving how deeply these songs continue to resonate.

The album was assembled by Victoria Mary Clarke alongside Dublin label Rubyworks, grounding the project in those closest to MacGowan’s world. It also carries a broader purpose, with a portion of proceeds supporting Dublin Simon Community and its work providing housing and healthcare to those in need.

This collection brings MacGowan’s catalog into sharp focus. The songwriting remains raw, poetic and unmistakable, and these performances place it back in the spotlight with artists who understand its depth and reach.
