Kacey Musgraves moves forward with a record rooted in reflection and wide-open sound.
Her sixth studio album ‘Middle of Nowhere’ is out now, produced with longtime collaborators Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk. The project draws directly from her Texas upbringing, weaving traditional country textures into a broader sonic palette that reaches across genres.
The album builds through detail and atmosphere. Pedal steel, accordion, and dancehall rhythms shape the foundation, while Musgraves reshapes those elements into something distinctly her own. The result carries warmth, character, and a strong sense of place.
Singles “Dry Spell,” “Middle of Nowhere,” and “Loneliest Girl” lead the release. The video for “Dry Spell,” co-directed by Musgraves and Hannah Lux Davis, adds a sharp, self-aware visual layer that matches the tone of the track.
The tracklist features a deep bench of collaborators. Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings, and Gregory Alan Isakov each contribute, reinforcing the album’s connection to both tradition and forward movement.
“The bulk of this record was made during the longest single period of my life,” Musgraves says. “I became fascinated with the concept of liminal space, both geographical and emotional.”
To mark the release, Musgraves plays a special run at Gruene Hall in Texas, bringing the album into a historic room tied closely to its roots.
She also heads out on the “Middle of Nowhere” arena tour, a wide-reaching run that hits major markets across North America, including Chicago, Toronto, New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
The album lands with depth and personality. ‘Middle of Nowhere’ stands as another strong entry in Musgraves’ catalog, expanding her sound while staying grounded in her core influences.
