0

Today, 3x GRAMMY and 7x BRIT Award-winning global pop powerhouse Dua Lipa releases Dua Lipa Live From The Royal Albert Hall. The new live album features a reimagined version of Radical Optimism performed in its entirety front-to-back, along with several of her previous hit songs, all accompanied by the 53-piece Heritage Orchestra conducted by Ben Foster, a 14-strong choir and her 7-piece band. Listen to Dua Lipa Live From The Royal Albert Hall here.

Following the live album, Dua’s primetime concert special, “An Evening With Dua Lipa,” which was also filmed during her one-night-only concert at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall, is set to be broadcast this Sunday, December 8th on ITV and Sunday, December 15th on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

The special will feature Dua’s orchestral performances from the night interspersed between intimate interviews, in which Dua reflects on the pivotal moments that have shaped her life and illustrious career, giving audiences a glimpse into the woman behind the superstar.

The dazzling London show was critically acclaimed with rave reviews across Billboard, Variety, The Times, Daily Telegraph, London Standard and more, crowning Dua as “Britain’s reigning pop star” who gave a performance packed with “pure pop perfection,” in an “impressive one-off show,” which “displayed her talents in a new light.” The album features a surprise duet of “Cold Heart” with musical icon Elton John, as well as the debut live performances of “Dance The Night” from the Barbie soundtrack, “Maria,” “Anything For Love,” “End Of An Era” and many more from Dua’s latest chart-topping album Radical Optimism.

Following her electric set headlining Glastonbury’s 2024 Pyramid Stage and her triumphant Royal Albert Hall show, Dua’s Radical Optimism World Tour will resume in 2025 and includes two shows at Wembley Stadium that sold out immediately. Please see below for the full list of upcoming tour dates. The War and Treaty Announce New Album ‘Plus One’ And 2025 Tour

0

Today, The War And Treaty, who have been hailed as “one of the most exciting live acts in American roots music” (Los Angeles Times), announced their fourth full-length album, Plus One, due out February 14 via Mercury Nashville. On Plus One, the “powerhouse” (TODAY) husband and wife duo, Michael and Tanya Trotter, double down on the powerful sense of togetherness that has always fueled their music, offering up 18 life-affirming songs aimed at providing a shared experience of hope and healing and much-needed joy. Pre-order the album HERE and listen to “Carried Away” HERE.

“We see this record as an open invitation to be a part of what we’re doing—it came from wanting to be the hope we believe people need right now, as well as the hope that we need for ourselves,” Tanya Trotter shares. “One of our main intentions with this album is to inspire people to share themselves with others, and open themselves up to the possibility of being loved,” Michael Trotter Jr. shares.

Mainly produced by Michael and recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Plus One marks The War And Treaty’s follow-up to Lover’s Game—a 2023 LP including standout track “Blank Page” which nabbed a GRAMMY nomination for Best American Roots Song, with The War And Treaty nominated for Best New Artist. To create their most extravagant body of work to date, the duo enlisted their longtime live band and dreamed up a singular sound touched with elements of gospel, bluegrass, contemporary country, classic soul, symphonic pop, folk-rock, and more. Partly made in collaboration with esteemed producers like Jonathan Singleton (Luke Combs, Chase Rice), John Shanks (Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow), and Jesse Frasure (Jelly Roll, Kelsea Ballerini), the result is a transcendent album firmly rooted in their timeless musicality and forward-thinking vision.

The track listing’s myriad high points include “Love Like Whiskey,” a soul-soothing portrait of a love strong enough to overcome any obstacle, co-written by the Trotters and Miranda Lambert; the wildly ecstatic “Called You By Your Name,” a breakneck-paced rallying cry influenced by the Black gospel tradition of shout music; “Drink From Me,” featuring virtuoso guitarist Billy Strings; “Leads Me Home,” which they performed on LIVE with Kelly and Mark; “Stealing a Kiss,” which they performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!; “Can I Get An Amen,” which they performed at the People’s Choice Country Awards; and “Carried Away,” out today.

Since first lighting up the world with their fusion of country and soul, The War And Treaty have steadily built a legacy as one of the most iconic husband-and-wife duos in music history. In the last few years alone, Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter’s phenomenal talent and daring originality have led to major milestones. In addition to the GRAMMYs, the duo has received nominations from the Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, CMT Music Awards, Americana Honors & Awards, and the People’s Choice Country Awards, and have taken home the Duo/Group of the Year prize at the Americana Music Honors & Awards two years in a row.

The War And Treaty has been hot on the road this year, performing with Chris Stapleton and Zach Bryan on a variety of tour dates, as well as an opening slot with The Rolling Stones. They have also performed on NBC Macy’s Fourth of July Special, at the National Memorial Day Parade, and recently performed at the 98th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

In March, they are set to embark on the Plus One Tour, a 30+ city tour that will continue bringing their electrifying live show to fans across the US. The tour will see the duo perform at a number of iconic venues across the country, including New York City’s Irving Plaza, The Howard Theatre in DC, The Troubadour in Los Angeles, The Kessler Theater in Dallas, and more. The tour kicks off on March 26 in Minneapolis, Minn. and will conclude on June 19 in Bristol, Tenn. General ticket on-sale opens next Friday, December 13 at 10AM local time. Their 2024 twelfth studio album release, “Dark Matter”, is currently nominated for three Grammys.

Since the earliest days, PEARL JAM has used its platform to elevate people and causes that often go unnoticed or underserved. Much of the band’s philanthropic work is accomplished through its Vitalogy Foundation which to date has raised more than $50 million for organizations supporting issues such as abortion access, climate change and homelessness, and drawing attention to the fight against diseases such as Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis and epidermolysis bullosa (EB). In addition to the money Vitalogy donates, the band also donates signed instruments, posters and merchandise to organizations to use for their own fundraising purposes. Compounding the impact of Vitalogy Foundation, the band has supported Jeff Ament’s Montana Pool Service building skate parks in Montana and South Dakota. PEARL JAM also lends its voice to notable causes like the West Memphis 3, voting rights and fair ticketing practices. Musicians, Beware: The Rise of Fake Booking Scams and How to Protect Yourself

0

You’re a musician. You’re checking your email, and there it is—an exciting opportunity! A booking inquiry for a private event, a lucrative corporate gig, or even an invitation to play at a festival you’ve always dreamed of. Your heart races. Finally, your hard work is paying off. But wait—what if it’s all a scam?

Scammers are getting more sophisticated, and fake booking emails are hitting inboxes worldwide, preying on musicians eager for gigs. They look legit, often using real festival names or mimicking the email styles of legitimate booking agents. The promise of a payday can make anyone overlook the warning signs.

Here’s how it works:

The Setup

The scammer poses as a legitimate promoter, festival organizer, or corporate event planner. They might name-drop real venues, include links to professional-looking websites, and use logos that make their email look authentic. They’ll often compliment your work—flattery is a powerful hook—and describe the “opportunity” in glowing terms.

They offer an impressive fee for your performance, often higher than what you might usually earn, and claim they need to finalize the details quickly.

The Trap

Once you agree, the scam takes a darker turn. The scammers may:

  1. Send you a fake check: They claim it includes a deposit for the gig plus extra to pay a “vendor” (sound techs, lighting teams, etc.). They’ll ask you to forward the vendor’s fee to a third party.
  2. Ask for advance payment: They’ll request upfront fees for “visa applications,” “insurance,” or “equipment rentals,” promising to reimburse you later.

What happens next? The check bounces, or the payment request is fraudulent, leaving you on the hook for any money you’ve sent.

Why Musicians Are Targets

Musicians are dreamers. We thrive on opportunities and connection, making us vulnerable to these kinds of scams. The promise of exposure, a big payday, or a chance to work with industry giants can make it easy to overlook red flags.

Scammers also know that musicians are often independent contractors who juggle multiple bookings and payments. In a sea of emails, a well-crafted scam can slip through the cracks.

How to Spot the Red Flags

  • Unsolicited offers: Be wary of offers that seem to come out of nowhere, especially from people or organizations you’ve never worked with.
  • Pressure to act fast: Scammers often push you to make decisions quickly, hoping you won’t have time to research.
  • Overpayments: If they send more money than agreed upon and ask for a refund or third-party payment, it’s almost always a scam.
  • Poor grammar or vague details: Legitimate booking agents know how to communicate clearly. Watch for inconsistencies in their message.

How to Protect Yourself

  1. Verify the offer. Research the promoter or event. Reach out directly to venues or festivals to confirm the booking.
  2. Trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification or walk away.
  3. Wait for payments to clear. Never forward funds until you’re sure a deposit is legitimate.
  4. Keep your communications professional. Use contracts and verify every detail. Scammers hate transparency.

The Good News

Musicians are a community, and we’re getting wiser to these scams. Talk to your peers, share your experiences, and stay vigilant. Together, we can make it harder for scammers to exploit our dreams.

Getting an email about a booking should be thrilling, not threatening. Remember: opportunities will come, but they should never come at the expense of your trust and hard-earned money. Be cautious, and keep rocking!

Legendary rockers STYX and Kevin Cronin, the iconic voice and writer behind REO SPEEDWAGON’s greatest hits, have one of the strongest brotherly bonds spanning 25 years, especially since they’ve crossed paths on the North American concert trail along with the occasional joint festival concert. Fittingly, next spring and summer they’ll join forces for the sixth time for their “Brotherhood Of Rock” tour, along with special guest Don Felder (a former lead guitarist for THE EAGLES),that will kick off May 28, 2025 in Greenville, South Carolina at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

It wouldn’t be summer without a live celebration of some of the greatest rock anthems of all time, including “Renegade”, “Keep On Loving You”, “Come Sail Away”, “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and “Hotel California”.

The official trailer for the “Brotherhood Of Rock” tour can be seen below.

STYX and Kevin Cronin (as part of REO SPEEDWAGON) first toured together in 2000 and in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks, they came together to form the Rock To The Rescue 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, which still collects donations for local charities at every stop on STYX’s ongoing tour.

General tickets for the trek, produced by Live Nation, will go on sale starting Friday, December 13 at 10 a.m. local time on LiveNation.com. STYX and Kevin Cronin will be offering VIP packages via their own exclusive pre-sales beginning Tuesday, December 10 at 10 a.m. local time, as well as at LiveNation.com.

Citi is the official card of the “Brotherhood Of Rock” tour. Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets in the U.S. beginning December 9 at 10 a.m. local time through the Citi Entertainment program.

Canadian fans who are American Express cardmembers can get Front Of The Line presale access to purchase tickets to the Toronto show before the general public beginning December 9 at 10 a.m. local time at ticketmaster.ca/americanexpress/94.

STYX singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw says: “The winter of 1975 I had returned home to Montgomery, Alabama after accepting the fact that there was very little, if any, interest from club owners for seven-piece rock bands who played their original songs (some of which were 10 minutes long),and we’d finally accepted the reality that people wanted disco music hits to dance to. A musician friend from home called me about a steady gig he and two other local musician friends had in the lounge of the local bowling alley. There was no dance floor, only tables and chairs, and they were playing music from bands like THE EAGLES, Dan Fogelberg, etc. and singing three-part harmony to locals who were loving it and not wanting to dance. And a steady weekly paycheck! I joined them and spent the rest of that year playing whatever we liked, bought a modest house, bought a used car, and was relieved to be off the road after two years of night club managers who wanted us to play disco. Thinking I’d found a secure life in my hometown, I got a call from a guy named Jim Vosecek, who’d introduced himself to me and the band at a club in Chicago. He explained that he was tour manager of the rock band STYX, that they had just released a new album called ‘Equinox’, and they were scheduled to embark on their first national tour when a member suddenly quit and left the band. He said to get on the plane they’d booked and come audition. Arriving at O’Hare airport, I met Kevin Cronin who was returning to rejoin his band, REO SPEEDWAGON. It was the beginning of a lifelong friendship that finds us back on the road together, this time under much different circumstances! The ‘Brotherhood Of Rock’ is stronger than ever!”

Cronin says: “I remember seeing Tommy’s seven-piece funk/rock band at the Rush Up club in Chicago, during my mid-’70s REO hiatus, and then bumping into him at O’Hare Airport a few weeks later,” remembers Kevin Cronin. “In no time I was back in REO SPEEDWAGON and Tommy had become the newest member of STYX. REO and STYX dominated the Billboard charts in 1981 with ‘Hi Infidelity’ and ‘Paradise Theatre’, but for reasons unknown we had never toured together. So in the year 2000, Tommy and I decided to give it a shot. The ‘Arch Allies’ tour was a smashing success, and a life-long friendship was formed. Now, here we are 25 years later, having always had each other’s back, and psyched for our bands to join forces once again for the ‘Brotherhood Of Rock’ tour. A lot has changed since that chance encounter at the airport in 1975, but our brotherhood has only become stronger through the years, as the songs of STYX and REO SPEEDWAGON have found a place in the hearts and souls of people all across America.”

Felder says: “I’m so excited to be hitting the road this summer with my friends STYX and Kevin Cronin. It’s such a great lineup full of hit songs and lots of rock and roll!!! We have so much fun together both on stage and off stage that it’s hard to find a more wonderful combination of great music and great friends. This is one show you won’t want to miss. See you soon.”
