Lightning in a Bottle 2025 Announces Lineup with Jamie xx, Khruangbin, Four Tet, and More

0

Today, Do LaB have announced the music lineup for North America’s original boutique festival, Lightning in a Bottle, returning to Buena Vista Lake in Southern California during Memorial Day Weekend from May 21-25, 2025.

LIB is your gateway to the extraordinary, a technicolor beacon for individuality in a monochrome world. It’s a place where outrageousness is currency and fun triumphs over all – a journey hand curated by the counterculturists and party-people of Do LaB, dotted with surprises that continually reimagine what a festival can mean to its attendees. It’s not just about catching Lightning, this is your chance to be the electricity you wish to see in the world and have the best time of your life in the process – are you ready?

Music curation is an art at LIB. The 2025 lineup is stacked with some of electronic music’s most sought after talent, but this festival isn’t just about names on a poster. The Do LaB crew have dedicated their lives to redefining how music is experienced, designing stage atmospheres that bring out the absolute best from their artists, inspire joy, and promote connection. One minute you are seeing your favorite artist in a larger than life stage environment, the next you are seeing them go B2B with an under-the-radar DJ on a small community stage late into the night. It’s wild, it’s unpredictable, and it’s all waiting for you.

LIB’s 2025 music programming criss-crosses electronic genres du jour, spanning from indie-electronic, house, and techno, to UKG and dubstep. Highlight acts include crossover super producer Jamie xx, meteoric Chicago tech house sensation John Summit, the inimitable UK selector Four Tet, pioneering psychedelic funk trio Khruangbin, and Compton DJ and beatmaker Channel Tres.

Other top billing highlights include British powerhouse Shygirl presents Club Shy, riddim royalty Subtronics, breakout star Sammy Virji, German electro-dance producer Monolink, iconic and unifying dance figure The Blessed Madonna, trap titan TroyBoi, and the return of legendary house producer and Dirtybird founder Claude VonStroke.

Indie music shines through on the 2025 lineup with acts such as synth pop duo Magdalena Bay, one of the most vital voices in Alt R&B Amaarae, Brooklyn brightlights and Book Club Radio founders Tinzo + Jojo, Toro y Moi and Poolside alumn Brijean, hyper pop princess Audrey Nuna, and Tamil-Swiss vocalist Priya Ragu.

Additional highlights include euphoric UKG flagbearers salute and Interplanetary Criminal, the recent global underground triumphs of Joy Orbison, fashionable twin sister duo Coco & Breezy, Haitian house star Francis Mercier, newly formed power duo Girl Math (VNSSA & Nala), melodic maestros like Sultan + Shepard (DJ Set) and Tinlicker, and bass favorites Hamdi, Tape B, and PEEKABOO.

Rounding out the lineup, fans will be able to enjoy sets from Sama’ Abdulhadi, Sofia Kourtesis, Chloé Caillet, Flowdan, and KILIMANJARO alongside the next generation of showstopping talent represented by SYREETA, BIIANCO, Sicaria, Bianca Oblivion, AHADADREAM, Mary Droppinz, Kito, and more.

LIB’s musical journey guides attendees from its wildly immersive core stages Lightning, Woogie, and Thunder, onwards to its community-driven programming at The Stacks, The Junkyard, and The Grand Artique. Each stage features its own unique aesthetic, vision, and sound, balancing fan-favorite bookings with a constant sense of discovery.

The immersive Compass area offers a diverse array of educational opportunities to engage the senses, expand the mind, and inspire community action with topics that include indigenous cultures, psychedelic medicine, climate change, love & relationships, healthy eating, and more. Attendees can learn from the past and present in order to better integrate, collaborate, and thrive in our world’s future.

Lightning in a Bottle offers both three day and five day ticket options, as well as hotel packages. The three day pass will be available as part of the general on sale, and makes the LIB experience more accessible to those who’d like to build their own adventure at their own pace.

Other packages available this year include the return of Easy Peasy Pre-Set Camping and Pre-Set RV options, taking away any of the stress of setting up camp upon arrival and instead being met with the convenience of having accommodations taken care of from the outset. VIP options will also be available for guests looking for the joy of a camping festival with an elevated experience. VIP pass holders can find reprieve in backstage lounges at Lightning, Thunder, and Woogie, grab refreshments in these areas at exclusive bars, enjoy special pop-up interactive experiences, and much more.

Tickets to Lightning in a Bottle are now available via the festival’s official website.

Cody Jinks Announces 2025 Hippies and Cowboys Tour Alongside Tribute Album to Lefty Frizzell

0

Today, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Cody Jinks announces his 2025 Hippies and Cowboys Tour alongside his upcoming project, Cody Jinks Sings Lefty Frizzell, a tribute album to the late honky-tonk legend Lefty Frizzell. The album features covers of many fan-favorite tracks, including “If You’ve Got the Money I’ve Got the Time.” Breathing new life into these classics, Jinks approaches the music—a cornerstone of traditional country and honky-tonk—with the same sincerity and emotional depth that has endeared him to fans throughout his career.

The electrifying performer, who has sold over 2 million tickets to date, is preparing for another ambitious stage setup as he embarks on his 2025 North American tour. Produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, the Hippies and Cowboys Tour promises the same inclusive, big-tent atmosphere for which Jinks is renowned.

“It’s a really divided time in our nation,” Jinks says. “But we’ve always been the type of band that wants everybody. Next year, it’s going to be a statement: ‘Man, we’re just an American band.’ That’s what we are. We’re a honky-tonk band. We’re American music. You’ve got country, rock, rhythm, and blues—all in one. Flatland Cavalry Announces 2025 “Flatland Forever Tour” with Stops Across the U.S.

0

Acclaimed band Flatland Cavalry will take their electric live shows across the country next year with their newly confirmed “Flatland Forever Tour.” Stops include Atlanta’s Coca-Cola Roxy, Birmingham’s Alabama Theatre, Omaha’s Steelhouse Omaha, Ann Arbor’s Michigan Theater, Madison’s The Sylvee, Memphis’s Minglewood Hall, Charlottesville’s Ting Pavilion, and Portland’s Crystal Ballroom, among many others. See below for the complete tour itinerary.

Tickets for the 2025 dates will be available for pre-sale starting this Wednesday, December 4, at 10:00 am local time, with the general on-sale following Friday, December 6, at 10:00 am local time. Full details can be found at www.flatlandcavalry.com/tour.

The tour adds to a landmark year for the band, who released their new album, Flatland Forever, last month via Interscope Records (stream/purchase here) and recently reached #1 on Shazam’s U.S. Top 200 chart after their song “How Long” was featured in Paramount’s hit show, Yellowstone. Receiving over 81,000 Shazams, the song surpassed tracks by Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, The Weeknd & Playboi Carti, and more.

A celebration of their past ten years together, Flatland Forever features fan favorites from each of the band’s previous albums, along with four new songs and additional material. Released to critical acclaim, Billboard praises, “a stellar catalog of songs…top-notch new material,” while Holler declares, “It’s a brilliant collection, a stunning mix of the old and the new,” and All Country News proclaims, “the Texas powerhouses are proving why they’re the heart and soul of today’s country music…a perfect reflection of their musical ethos: honest, heartfelt storytelling paired with captivating melodies.”

Since playing their first show as a group in Lubbock, TX, in 2014, Flatland Cavalry has received widespread attention from fans, fellow artists, and critics alike, with Rolling Stone declaring, “Flatland Cavalry Are at the Fore of the Red Dirt Renaissance…one of the most dynamic presences in country music,” while The Wall Street Journal praises, “This is a straightforward, upbeat electrified country-rock band,” and American Songwriter proclaims, “a dynamic representation of country music…Kris Kristofferson and John Prine’s enduring influence of folk storytelling traces through.”

In just the past year, they wrote and recorded songs for two major film soundtracks (Twisters and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), received their first ACM Awards nomination (Group of the Year), and made their headline debut at iconic venues such as Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Additionally, they’ve garnered more than 500 million streams across platforms to date, had music featured on Paramount’s Yellowstone and Netflix’s The Ranch, earned six #1 singles at Texas Country Radio, and toured relentlessly, including countless sold-out headline dates as well as shows with Willie Nelson, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Jordan Davis, Midland, and more.

Based in both Texas and Nashville, Flatland Cavalry is Cleto Cordero (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jason Albers (drums, percussion), Jonathan Saenz (bass, background vocals), Reid Dillon (electric guitar), Wesley Hall (fiddle), and Adam Gallegos (piano, organ, keys, mandolin, banjo, acoustic guitar, Wurlitzer, Mellotron).

My Next Read: From The 33 1/3 Series – The Avalanches’ Since I Left You By Charles Fairchild

0

Capturing a fraught moment in popular music history as reflected in and anticipated by Since I Left You (2000), the debut studio album from electronic music group The Avalanches has enthralled listeners for decades.

Since I Left You has a reputation amongst its advocates that exceeds those of nearly all of its closest peers. Yet despite the inordinate amount of attention this album has received, it has never been thoroughly examined in context. While repeatedly celebrated for its artistry, technical skill, and emotional resonance – in particular its sample-based material and then-cutting edge technological feats within the electronic music genre – it has never been definitively placed in the world that produced it.

Charles Fairchild studies this album in a way no one else has. Since I Left You is placed in its historical, technological, and cultural contexts and is examined for the social and aesthetic attributes it was said to possess at the time of its release. There is a focus on the clear set of aesthetic aspirations that guided the album’s creators and how those creators pasted together the fragments of many sound worlds.
