Tom Jones And Chuck Berry Sing “Roll Over Beethoven” And “Memphis” In 1974

In a rare and electrifying duet, Chuck Berry and Tom Jones joined forces on The Midnight Special, blending Berry’s trailblazing rock ‘n’ roll with Jones’ powerhouse vocals. Their seamless chemistry and undeniable charisma created a performance that is a must-watch moment in music history.

My Next Read: “Tell It Like It Is: My Story” By Aaron Neville

0

For the first time, legendary singer and songwriter and Grammy Hall-of-Famer Aaron Neville tells his personal story of overcoming poverty, racism, addiction, and loss through faith, family, and music.

Aaron Neville’s first #1 hit, “Tell It Like it Is,” was released in 1966. In the mid-70s he formed the Neville Brothers with Art, Charles, and Cyril—now known as the “First Family of New Orleans”—and they released more than a dozen influential albums. Given his one-of-a-kind, soaring falsetto, Aaron was the breakout star, and over the next six decades, he had four platinum albums, three  #1 songs, numerous film and television appearances, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014. His triple-platinum duets with Linda Ronstadt (including the Grammy-Award-winning hit “I Don’t Know Much”) showcased the softer side of his voice, and the smoking hot funky soul of the Neville Brothers cemented his legacy as an R&B legend.

But few people know the challenging and circuitous road Aaron took to fame. Born in a housing project in New Orleans of Black and Native American heritage, Aaron struggled as a teenage father working to raise a family while building his career as a musician, surviving a stint in jail for car theft and many years battling heroin addiction.

Recognized by the dagger tattoo on his cheek and his St. Jude medallion earring, Neville credits St. Jude—the patron saint of lost cases—for turning his life around. He found healing and salvation in music. Aaron Neville is a man who by all accounts should not have made it. Tell It Like It Is shares his story for the first time.

Pouya Announces ‘They Could Never Make Me’ Tour

0

Today, Pouya announced his ‘THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME’ 2025 tour. Produced by Live Nation, the 35-city tour kicks off on February 25 at The Beacham in Orlando, FL making stops across the U.S. in Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and more before wrapping up in Atlanta, GA at Buckhead Theatre on April 24.

Tickets will be available starting with an Artist presale beginning on Tuesday, November 12. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general onsale beginning on Friday, November 15 at 10AM local time at LiveNation.com

Pouya broke through with the Baby Bone EP highlight “Get Buck,” a track so unrelenting and combative that it lacked space for a hook. The title of its 2013 parent release referred to the rapper’s nickname and love for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

While the influence of that pioneering melodic rap group can be sensed throughout Pouya’s discography, the Miami native’s highly personal and creative lyricism, combined with his easy adaptability to the wildly varying approaches of his producers, have made him stand out all along. From 2016 through 2018, Pouya’s Underground Underdog, Drop Out of School (with Fat Nick), and Five Five each hit Billboard charts, a period during which the rapper also scored with the Ghostemane collaboration “1000 Rounds.” By the time that single went gold, in 2021, Pouya’s catalog had expanded with additional independent projects such as The South Got Something to Say and Blood Was Never Thick as Water. Born and raised in Miami, Kevin Pouya started recording in his late teens, forming a duo with childhood friend Fat Nick dubbed the Buffet Boys. Pouya’s first couple mixtapes were released in 2012.

The EP Baby Bone arrived the next year, and with it came “Get Buck,” which multiplied his audience by a high factor. Pouya responded with another EP, Gookin’, recorded with the Cool Kids’ Sir Michael Rocks. After a clutch of EPs and tapes that included South Side Suicide (with Suicideboys), Pouya went on something of a commercial hot streak. In 2016, Underground Underdog became his first of three recordings to register on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, and it also cracked the Billboard 200.

Drop Out of School and Five Five entered the independent chart over the next couple years, and it was during this time that the non-album single “1000 Rounds” — a duo cut with Ghostemane — became one of Pouya’s career high points. Retaining his artistic independence and regional pride, Pouya in 2019 offered The South Got Something to Say, his third official album, containing the chest-rattling Juicy J collaboration “Six Speed,” and the likes of Ghostemane and Rocci among the other featured artists. A sequel to Drop Out of School was among Pouya’s 2020 output. The next year brought Blood Was Never Thick as Water. The rapper’s fourth album balanced atmospheric tracks such as “Walk In” and “Leave Me Alone” with rumblerslike “Wig Split,” featuring Denzel Curry. The four-years-old “1000 Rounds” was certified gold that October. Pouya would later release his fifth studio album in 2023 called “Gator” whichfeatured Yung Gravy and Ramirez. In 2024 he would go on the “Greyday Tour” with the Suicideboys and was one of the direct supporters on the tour. His sixth studio album, “They Could Never Make Me Hate You”, released in August which has led to the announcement of his 2025 tour “They Could Never Make Me Tour” with Freddie Dredd.

Highlights include eagerly awaited stops at Atlanta, GA’s Tabernacle (January 23), New York City’s Irving Plaza (February 1), Chicago, IL’s House of Blues (February 5), Los Angeles, CA’s The Belasco (February 20), and San Francisco, CA’s The Fillmore (February 21).

General onsale begins on Friday, November 1, at 10:00 am (local). For complete details and ticket information, please visit www.nocap.com/tour.

The Before I Disappear Again Tour sees NoCap – who is also among the top-billed rap stars performing at the 107.5 WGCI Big Jam, set for Chicago, IL’s Wintrust Arena on Saturday, December 7 – celebrating the release earlier this year of his acclaimed second studio album, Before I Disappear Again, available everywhere now via Atlantic Records HERE. The album – which debuted at #2 on Billboard’s “Top Rap Albums” and #3 on “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” charts along with a top 20 debut on the overall Billboard 200 – includes such hit singles as “Maliboo,” “Yacht Party,” and “Baby Drake,” all joined by official music videos boasting over 10M combined views at YouTube. Hailed by HotNewHopHop as a “hyped up 23-track behemoth,” Before I Disappear Again also includes high-profile features from Quavo, French Montana, Rylo Rodriguez, Sleepy Hallow, SoFaygo, and D’Yani.

Similar to paint splattered on a canvas, NoCap splashes all of his pain, anxiety, stress, trouble, trauma, and truth onto the beat. Instead of manically utilizing a brush, he freestyles off the top of his head, channeling emotion too intense to overthink. The Multi-Platinum Mobile, AL maverick rapper and singer synthesizes melody out of discord and darkness, resonating on an intimate level with fans worldwide. Carving out a place of his own in the culture, his songs have stuck to a generation. He sent shockwaves through the game with a pair of RIAA Platinum-certified singles, “Ghetto Angels” and “Vaccine,” as well as a string of celebrated mixtapes including 2019’s The Backend Child (2019), The Hood Dictionary (2019), and Steel Human (2020). He catapulted into the Top 5 of Billboard’s “Top R&B Hip-Hop Albums” and “Top Rap Albums” charts in addition to crashing the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 with his full-length debut LP, Mr. Crawford (2022). NoCap further showed out on such Gold-certified bangers as Lil Baby’s “Dreams 2 Reality,” Quando Rondo’s “New Ones” (with), and Youngboy Never Broke Again’s “Outta Here Safe,” as well as his Billboard “Hot 100” debut, Rylo Rodriguez’s “Thang For You.” Receiving tastemaker praise, The FADER applauded his “teeth-gritting images of struggle,” and Pitchfork hailed his music as “both deeply personal and invitingly vague, somber and triumphant in equal measure.” Stacking up hundreds of millions of streams and views, selling out shows, and notching widespread acclaim, NoCap returned in 2024 with Before I Disappear Again, cutting deep and unearthing more of himself than ever before.

I’m growing up,” says NoCap. “I could be a different man in 2025. I’m just always trying to be a better artist. People don’t get to see a lot of me, but they do see me through my music. My fans will hear how I’m changing, and they’re with me. They’re moving as I move, because I’m never going to stop growing and learning.

Young Nudy Announces Headline Tour Kicking Off This December

0

Today, breakout ATL rapper Young Nudy announced a limited run of tour dates taking place this December. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on Wednesday, December 4 in Charlotte, NC at The Fillmore, with additional stops in Raleigh, Indianapolis, Nashville, and Houston. Special guest Babydrill will join Young Nudy on all dates.

TICKETS: Tickets will be available starting with an artist presale beginning Thursday, October 31 at 10am local time. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general onsale beginning Friday, November 1 at 10am local time at livenation.com.

This tour is on the heels of his latest single and video “John Wayne” featuring Metro Boomin and his most recent critically acclaimed album and one of his most popular projects to-date, Gumbo, which received glowing reviews from fans and critics such as Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Stereogum, XXL Magazine, and more. Gumbo is Nudy’s highest debuting album in his career and features his most mainstream, successful single “Peaches & Eggplants” featuring 21 Savage. After reaching the top spot on the US Hot 50 TikTok charts last July, the song peaked at #49 on the Billboard Hot 100, his first song to make this chart. Nudy is currently gearing up for a new album coming soon.

Born and raised in the heart of East Atlanta, breakout rapper Young Nudy has mastered his approach to rapping; he displays a variety of styles in his rap approach by blending a laid-back, but raw delivery with energetic flows. He first garnered massive attention with his 2016 mixtape Slimeball and following the success of that, he continued to release musically diverse projects including Slimeball 2 in 2017 featuring guest appearances from Juicy J and Peso in addition to his Nudyland mixtape released that same year which included production from Richie Souf and Pi’erre Bourne, and had features from Offset and Lil Yachty. In the mix of all that, Nudy’s major collaboration with his cousin 21 Savage on “Since When” also became a massive success. He continued his success with Slimeball 3 later that year and the critically acclaimed full-length collaboration with Bourne, Sli’merre, in 2019. Additionally, his mixtape Faded in the Booth was well-received for its more laid-back vibe.

In early 2020, Nudy came out with the mixtape Anyways. The project featured unique production and unconventional instrumentals that complemented the rapper’s energetic performances and darker lyrics. Nudy continued to explore different sounds in 2021 with his second studio album, Dr. EV4L. This record had a sinister, horrorcore vibe and featured collaborations with artists like Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and G Herbo, focusing on eerie instrumentals and intense lyrical themes. Shortly after that release, Nudy dropped his third studio album, Rich Shooter, in August 2021. This album debuted in the Billboard 200 charts and moved away from horrorcore and embraced more experimental approaches while still maintaining a commercial appeal. With guest appearances from Future, 21 Lil Harold, Peewee Longway, and others, the album showcased Young Nudy exploring various styles. In 2022, he released his mixtape EA Monster, which also entered the Billboard 200 chart for Nudy and showcased a polished sound with futuristic synth elements and showcased Nudy’s improved rapping skills.

Young Nudy’s latest critically acclaimed album and one of his most popular projects to-date, Gumbo, was released in February 2023 and received glowing reviews from fans and critics such as Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Stereogum, XXL Magazine, and more. Gumbo took a different musical direction with minimal beats and production reminiscent of late-2000s hip-hop. All the tracks on the album were named after food, and it included guest appearances from Key Glock and 21 Savage. Gumbo is Nudy’s highest debuting album in his career and features his most mainstream, successful single “Peaches & Eggplants” featuring 21 Savage. After reaching the top spot on the US Hot 50 TikTok charts last July, the song peaked at #49 on the Billboard Hot 100, his first song to make this chart, and has accumulated 3.1 billion short form video views. “Peaches and Eggplants” has amassed over 271 million streams worldwide and has garnered over 76 million views on its music video. It also got a remix featuring Latto and Sexxy Red.

With the release of the single and video “John Wayne” featuring Metro Boomin this year, Nudy is gearing up for a new album coming soon.

Thu Dec 05 – Raleigh, NC – The Ritz

Accumulating nearly 10 billion streams, GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band and global sensation GHOST continues to bring the “euphoric spectacle” (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing crowds, most recently on last year’s triumphant RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023, which hit more than two dozen North American cities before its two-night finale at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that GHOST had “conquered metal and the charts” when its fifth album IMPERA debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden, Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in another half dozen or more countries. Featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a “sweetly constructed rock tune” by THE NEW YORK TIMES and later reimagined with Joe Elliott of Def Leppard—and the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” GHOST’s fifth #1 at Active Rock radio—IMPERA moved ROLLING STONE to remark, “GHOST predicted the pandemic, now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The album presented the most current and topical GHOST subject matter to date set against a darkly colorful melodic backdrop making IMPERA a listen like no other—yet unmistakably, quintessentially GHOST. Having closed out 2022 by cracking the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, with the RIAA platinum-certified “Mary on a Cross,” as well as IMPERA winning Favorite Rock Album at the American Music Awards and Best Rock Album of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, GHOST unveiled PHANTOMIME, a five-song covers EP including the version of Iron Maiden’s “Phantom of the Opera” that earned the band its fifth GRAMMY nomination. Most recently, GHOST’s seemingly limitless ambition took the band to the silver screen with the June 2024 theatrical premiere of the feature film RITE HERE RITE NOW. Moving THE LOS ANGELES TIMES to rave “As far as live acts go, they’re one of the best in the business — and now they have the movie to prove it,” RITE HERE RITE NOW quickly became the highest grossing hard rock cinema event in North American history, and spawned a chart-topping soundtrack album. From devoted disciples to the curious uninitiated, the GHOST live ritual experience has seen audiences all over the world turning off their phones and living in the moment—completely spellbound and in the thrall of GHOST.
