Foster The People Announce “Paradise State Of Mind Tour”

0

RIAA Multi-Platinum and Diamond-certified group Foster The People have announced their  North American headline “Paradise State of Mind Tour” with special guest Good Neighbours.  The 23-city run, produced by Live Nation, gets underway January 25, 2025 at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA and then travels through early March. Highlights include stops at such prestigious venues as Los Angeles, CA’s Hollywood Palladium (February 6), Las Vegas, NV’s Fontainebleau Las Vegas (February 8), Chicago, IL’s The Salt Shed (February 15), Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Paramount (February 24), and Atlanta, GA’s Tabernacle (February 28). Pre-sale registration is available now. Pre-sales begin Tuesday, October 15th at 10:00 am (local). General on-sales follow on Friday, October 18th at 10:00 am (local). For complete details including presale registration and ticket information, please visit www.fosterthepeople.com/tour.

The eagerly awaited tour celebrates the recent arrival of Foster The People’s acclaimed new album, Paradise State of Mind, available now via Atlantic Records HERE. Produced by Foster The People lead singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Mark Foster and bandmate Isom Innis with contributions from Paul Epworth, Jack Peñate, Chrome Sparks, and Asa Taccone at studios in London and Los Angeles (including East West Studios’ famed Studio Three, the room where The Beach Boys recorded Pet Sounds), the album is highlighted by such acclaimed tracks as “Chasing Low Vibrations,” “Take Me Back” and the cosmically catchy first single, “Lost In Space.” Hailed by Consequence for “(invoking) moments of psychedelia, the space age, the anthemic of the ’80s, and dramatic disco strings,” the latter track arrived alongside an official music video directed by award-winning filmmaker Rupert Höller and currently boasting over 1.5 million views HERE. The band also recently released the “Lost in Space (PNAU Remix).” The Remix is out everywhere now HERE.

I think the trickiest part about this record was trying to be authentic about what had been going on with me,” says Mark Foster, “without writing something super dark and without glossing over it, either. Because, to me, it was really important that hope remain at the core of this whole thing. People need hope. I need hope. And when I think about what hope is – it’s having the courage to walk towards something that you think can be better, while fully acknowledging the darkness and reality around you. That was the goal, walking into this album, which was actually really tricky – to make something that rang true to what was on my mind, but that had this much groove and that would be fun to dance to. You know, to me, they’re like Trojan Horses, the message is hiding in the melody.

Paradise State of Mind – which made a top 10 debut on Billboard’s “Top Albums Sales” chart upon its August release – has been met by critical applause around the world. Uncut praised the album for “evoking Prince and Daft Punk,” while CLASH simply raved, “Foster the People have created a record that, despite its challenging and at times dark journey is one of optimism and insight with a groove that will make you want to dance just like their mega hit single ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ did in 2010… Paradise State of Mind is a coming-of-age record, a band lyrically at the peak of the powers who will take you somewhere to ponder and dance in another dimension.” “With the influx of diverse instrumentation and delightfully wacky songwriting/production choices, Paradise State of Mind may actually be (Foster The People’s) most accomplished album to-date,” wrote Sputnikmusic, “regardless, it’s definitely their most entertaining.” “(Paradise State of Mind) sounds like the backing track for the best space opera ever written,” declared Far Out. “Heavily inspired by disco, the catchy choruses and easy-to-dance-to instrumentation evoke the same feelings that initially helped us fall in love with Foster the People… The band is back, and the album is paradise.

Foster The People continue to celebrate Paradise State of Mind with a top-billed appearance at Austin, TX’s Austin City Limits Music Festival, both last weekend Friday, October 4th and this Friday, October 11. Foster The People first marked the album’s arrival this summer with an intimate pair of sold-out live dates at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom and Los Angeles, CA’s The Roxy Theatre as well as an electrifying performance of “Lost In Space” on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (streaming HERE).

Currently boasting close to 8 billion worldwide streams and almost 2.5 billion lifetime YouTube video views, Foster the People proved a worldwide sensation with their kaleidoscopic brand of dance-fueled pop music. Formed in Los Angeles in 2009 with multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Mark Foster at the helm, the band exploded with their 2010 debut single, “Pumped Up Kicks,” which topped Billboard’s “Alternative Songs” chart before spending eight consecutive weeks at #3 on the overall “Hot 100” and rising to the upper reaches of charts around the world. Currently RIAA Diamond-certified with 14x Platinum sales in the US, the track earned Foster The People their first GRAMMY Award nomination (for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance”) as well as the 2012 Billboard Music Award for “Top Rock Song.” Now with over 1 billion worldwide streams via Spotify alone, “Pumped Up Kicks” was joined by an equally phenomenal official music video which attained placement among YouTube‘s prestigious Billion Views Club.

2011 saw Foster The People unveil their 3x Platinum-certified debut album, Torches, which went to #1 on both Billboard’s “Top Rock Albums” and “Top Alternative Albums” while reaching #8 on the Billboard 200 and later receiving a GRAMMY Award nomination as “Best Alternative Album.” What’s more, the album’s “Houdini” earned the band a third GRAMMY® nod for “Best Short Form Music Video.” Supermodel followed in 2014, which fueled in part by the Gold-certified “Coming of Age,” hit #1 on both Billboard’s “Top Rock Albums” and “Top Alternative Albums” while debuting at #3 on the overall Billboard 200.

Foster The People toured the world while working out material for their third album, 2017’s electronic soul-flavored Sacred Hearts Club. The Gold-certified LP delivered yet another blockbuster hit in the 4x Platinum “Sit Next To Me,” which scored over 200 million worldwide streams while spending 20 weeks on the Billboard “Hot 100.” A series of stand-alone singles were then followed in 2020 by the independent EP, In the Darkest of Nights, Let the Birds Sing, highlighted by such singles as “Lamb’s Wool.” 2021 saw Foster The People celebrate the tenth anniversary of Torches with the extended  deluxe edition, Torches X, along with a series of special Torches live shows streamed around the world. Now, in 2024, Foster The People return at last with Paradise State of Mind, featuring their cosmically catchy first single, “Lost in Space”  with much more to come.

Disturbed Announces 34-Date The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour In North America

0

Today, multi-platinum rock band Disturbed announces their 34-date The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour which will kick off in Nampa, ID on February 25th (full dates below) and is produced by Live Nation. The tour celebrates 25 years of Disturbed’s seminal debut album which launched the band into public consciousness and is one of the most important and influential heavy metal albums of all time. Each night will feature two sets of music, opening with Disturbed playing the five times platinum The Sickness in full, followed by a full set of greatest hits. The first half of the tour will feature support from special guests Three Days Grace, featuring the return of original singer Adam Gontier, and opener Sevendust, and the second half will feature special guests Daughtry with opener Nothing More.

Tickets and VIP will be available starting with an Artist pre-sale beginning Tuesday, October 15 at 10 AM local time. Fans have the ability to pre-register for pre-sale tickets at https://disturbed.live/. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale starting Friday, October 18 at 10 AM local time at disturbed1.com/tour. Dates in the UK and Europe will be announced soon.Since The Sickness was released in 2000, the album was certified five times platinum by the RIAA, spent a total of 106 weeks on the US Billboard 200 chart, and Revolver named it one of “Top 25 Debut Hard Rock Albums.” Billboard said of the title track upon release: “‘Down With The Sickness’ is, of course, the quintessential Disturbed song, harnessing all the band’s seethe and its now-famous tribal beat and guitar chug into three and a half minutes of alt-metal mayhem. It’s menacing, it’s rhythmic, it’s rebellious.”

Emerging out of Chicago at the turn of the century with an insidious, infectious, and inimitable vision without comparison, Disturbed have quietly dominated hard rock on their own terms. They make the kind of music that pushes you to hold on tighter, fight harder, and persevere forever. It’s why they’ve claimed a place at the forefront of 21st century rock with record-breaking success, sales of over 17 million-plus units, nearly 8 billion streams, and sold out shows around the globe. The band have six RIAA album certifications, and singles from all eight albums have reached the top ten of the Mainstream Rock chart.

The two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated quartet have notched five consecutive #1 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 for Believe, Ten Thousand Fists, Indestructible, and Asylum, occupying rarified air alongside Metallica—the only other hard rock group to accomplish this feat. Since their influential 5x-platinum debut The Sickness in 2000, they have built a bulletproof catalog highlighted by a procession of smashes, including the platinum “Stupify,” “Inside The Fire,” and “Land of Confusion,” 2x-platinum “Stricken,” 6x-platinum “Down With The Sickness,” and 7x-platinum “The Sound of Silence,” to name a few. The latter notably received a GRAMMY Award nomination in the category of “Best Rock Performance” as the band earned “Best Rock Artist” at the 2017 iHeartRadioMusic Awards. Still, Disturbed never stop, and their most recent 2022 album Divisive featured their 17th #1 at Rock Radio “Hey You,” “Unstoppable,” and more.

It is available now on EcoCD, EcoRecord LP and digital. Current single WE PRAY – with Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and TINI – is the iTunes chart-topping follow-up to June’s double MTV VMAs-nominated single feelslikeimfallinginlove, which reached Number 1 on both the UK’s airplay chart and the Official Big Top 40. Chris Martin posted a video offering some insight into the album and its accompanying Notebook Edition, saying: “I think what this album is about is a response tostruggling with all the conflict within oneself, within myself, and also all the conflict outside, and working out what the best response is. And I think what Moon Music is trying to say is maybe love is the best response.”

The band recently issued an update on their sustainability initiatives, revealing that, on a show-by-show comparison, the current tour has so far produced 59% less CO2e missions than their previous stadium tour in 2016/17, exceeding their original target of a 50% reduction. More than 9 million trees have alredy been planted around the world (with a further million to be planted before the end of the year). 5 Surprising Facts About Stevie Wonder’s ‘Innervisions’

There’s something magical about an album that doesn’t just stand the test of time—it rewrites it. Stevie Wonder’s Innervisions, released on August 3, 1973, is one of those rare records that reshaped music forever. With its soulful genius and groundbreaking use of synthesizers, it captured hearts, inspired change, and solidified Wonder’s transition into a mature, socially conscious artist. But even an album as revered as this holds secrets. Here are five facts you probably didn’t know about Innervisions.

1. It Was a One-Man Masterpiece

On many of the album’s tracks, Stevie Wonder played every single instrument himself. From the clavinet in “Higher Ground” to the Moog synthesizers throughout, Wonder’s musical virtuosity shines. This hands-on approach not only elevated the sound but also cemented him as a pioneer in self-produced records.

2. The T.O.N.T.O. Synthesizer Revolutionized the Sound

The futuristic vibe of Innervisions owes a lot to the T.O.N.T.O. synthesizer (The Original New Timbral Orchestra). Developed by Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff, this massive synth system was the largest of its kind at the time. Wonder embraced its potential, using it to create lush, otherworldly sounds that influenced commercial soul and black music for decades.

3. It Predicted Its Own Legacy with “Higher Ground”

Here’s where it gets spooky. Wonder wrote and recorded “Higher Ground” just before a near-fatal car accident left him in a coma for 10 days. After waking up, he felt the song had a prophetic quality, reflecting his belief in reincarnation and a second chance at life. It became one of his most iconic tracks, resonating deeply with fans and himself.

4. The Album Tackled Bold, Uncharted Themes

Songs like “Living for the City” didn’t just top charts—they opened eyes. With its vivid portrayal of systemic racism, Wonder’s storytelling incorporated sounds from the street—sirens, voices, and traffic—creating one of the first soul songs to bring everyday realities into its narrative. It wasn’t just music; it was a call to action.

5. The Recording Was Nearly a Casualty of Its Time

Just three days after Innervisions was released, Wonder’s car accident could have derailed his career entirely. The album was already garnering attention, but Wonder’s resilience and faith—along with his hospital room jam sessions—brought him back to his music. Against all odds, Innervisions soared, proving unstoppable even in the face of adversity.

Innervisions is more than an album—it’s a journey. It’s a testament to Stevie Wonder’s brilliance, resilience, and courage to speak the truth through his art. From its trailblazing use of synthesizers to its timeless social commentary, it remains a cornerstone of musical history. Whether you’ve loved it for years or are just discovering it now, remember: every listen is a reminder that true artistry knows no bounds. As Stevie might say, “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing”—this masterpiece will always inspire.
