Knoxville Death/Black Thrash Force Dissonance Unleash “Induced Mentacide” Featuring Ricky Myers of Suffocation

0

Dissonance have released their devastating new single “Induced Mentacide” via Maelstrom Records, featuring a guest appearance from Ricky Myers of Suffocation. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Levi Fuselier, the track delivers raw precision and controlled chaos in equal measure, pushing the Knoxville-based death/black thrash outfit’s sound into punishing new territory. Fans of At the Gates, Death, and Skeletal Remains will want this one loud.

Formed in 2024 by Fuselier, whose metal credentials include stints in brutal death giants Disgorge and Pathology, and lead guitarist Dustin Hurt, Dissonance have moved fast. The current lineup features Jonathan Joubert on vocals, Fuselier on rhythm guitar, Hurt on lead guitar, and Nick Ziros on bass. Despite being less than two years old, the band has already carved out a serious reputation in the underground extreme metal scene.

Myers’ contribution to “Induced Mentacide” is not window dressing. His technical brutality as the vocalist of Suffocation adds a layer of intensity that pushes the track to its limit. “Having Ricky on this track pushed us all to the edge,” Fuselier says. “Induced Mentacide is everything we wanted death and black thrash to feel: raw, punishing, and absolutely unrelenting.” The single delivers exactly that, and then some.

Basel Thrash/Death Maniacs Total Annihilation Deliver Unrelenting Fury on ‘Mountains of Madness’

0

Total Annihilation have released their fourth full-length album, ‘Mountains of Madness’, via Testimony Records. Recorded by Christoph Brandes at Iguana Studios in Freiburg, Germany, and mixed and mastered by Ronnie Björnström in Sweden, the album pushes the band’s Thrashing Death Metal style into faster, heavier, and more technically demanding territory than anything they have delivered before. It is out now on all platforms.

Active since 2006, the Basel, Switzerland-based thrash/death metal force spent nearly two decades evolving from raw thrash purists into one of Europe’s most ferocious underground metal acts. Their 2023 release ‘Raging Death’ established the blueprint, fusing furious thrash with old-school death metal aggression. ‘Mountains of Madness’ takes that foundation and demolishes it, building something harder and more relentless in its place. Fans of Legion of the Damned, old Kreator, and Asphyx will find exactly what they are looking for here.

“More speed, more brutality, more Thrash and more Death,” the band says of the record. “‘Mountains of Madness’ hits the sweet spot between speed and brutality. There will be no mercy.” That is not a boast, it is a mission statement, and the album delivers on it completely. From the opening track to the final breakdown, this is a record built for the mosh pit and engineered to leave nothing standing.

Sonic Youth Co-Founder Kim Gordon Releases Title Track “Play Me” and Announces World Tour

0

Kim Gordon releases “Play Me,” the title track from her forthcoming third solo album, alongside a music video directed by Barney Clay. Set in a chaotic mall and built around an onslaught of censored faces, the clip extends the album’s themes of technocratic fascism into visceral visual territory. It is exactly the kind of uncompromising statement Gordon has always delivered, and it lands hard.

‘Play Me’ arrives Friday, March 13. Gordon has also announced an extensive North American and European tour in support of the record, kicking off April 2 in Los Angeles and running through July, with stops in Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, and San Francisco, plus European dates including London, Paris, Berlin, and Warsaw. The full schedule is below.

Gordon built her reputation as co-founder of Sonic Youth, one of the most influential bands in the history of alternative music. Her solo work has only deepened that legacy. ‘Play Me’ follows ‘The Collective’, her 2024 sophomore effort, and continues her exploration of noise, culture, and power with the same unflinching focus that has defined her entire career.

Hard Rock Upstarts Romeo Announce Debut Album ‘Deja Vu Letters’ Arriving This May

0

Romeo have announced their debut album ‘Deja Vu Letters’, due May 29, 2026, via Street Symphonies Records and Burning Minds Music Group. The nine-track record channels the tragic, romantic, and bittersweet spirit of early 1980s hard rock, drawing inspiration from Thin Lizzy, UFO, Cheap Trick, and The Dogs D’Amour. Recorded at Slack Studios and Fico Studio by Romeo and Fede Randi, the album arrives as the band’s full introduction to the wider rock world.

Formed in 2024, the four-piece, comprising vocalist and guitarist Max Colliva, guitarist Andrea Zanolli, bassist Rudy B., and drummer Luke Cocchieri, built ‘Deja Vu Letters’ around a sound that feels both vintage and immediate. “The entire creative process was incredibly spontaneous,” the band says, “as if the songs simply appeared from nowhere. It felt like they were already physically in our hands before they even existed in our minds. A true deja vu.”

The album features a strong supporting cast of guest contributors. El Xicano handles keyboards and Hammond organ throughout, while Lena McFrison and Privi contribute backing vocals on “What’s Going On.” Filippo Tramontana and The Venezuela Boys bring horns to both “What’s Going On” and “Decadent Man,” adding texture and range to an already full-bodied record.

‘Deja Vu Letters’ is available for pre-save now ahead of its May 29 release.

Tracklist:

  1. Frankfurt Lights
  2. Italian Guy
  3. True Confessions
  4. Romeo (A Loyal Borderline)
  5. Soul Staller
  6. No More Chances
  7. I Need To Know
  8. What’s Going On
  9. Decadent Man

LYLVC and Bobby Amaru of Saliva Confront the Darkest Moments on Powerful New Single “Starless”

0

LYLVC release “Starless,” featuring Bobby Amaru of Saliva, out now via Judge & Jury Records. Recorded at Howard Benson’s West Valley Studios with producer Mike Plotnikoff, whose credits include Three Days Grace, My Chemical Romance, Halestorm, and Papa Roach, the track carries real emotional weight and delivers it with the kind of rock firepower this band has built their reputation on.

The song draws directly from lived experience. Frontman Oscar Romero wrote it about the days leading up to his own suicide attempt. “‘Starless’ stands as a testament to anyone who has felt that deceptive peace at the edge,” Romero says. “Even when it feels like the only solution, it isn’t, and you are not alone.” Vocalist Alyse Zavala brings her own story to the track, rooted in an abusive childhood and the resilience that followed. “On days if you ever feel too weak to pick yourself up, know we can be there for you,” she says. The honesty behind the music makes it land harder than most.

Amaru’s unmistakable voice as the frontman of Saliva fits the track perfectly, adding a raw, complementary edge alongside Zavala’s vocals. Judge & Jury Records, founded by multi-platinum producer Howard Benson and Three Days Grace drummer and songwriter Neil Sanderson, backs the release with serious industry muscle. The combination of production pedigree and genuine emotional stakes makes “Starless” one of LYLVC’s most fully realized releases to date.

The Raleigh, NC-based group fuses rock, hip-hop, and alternative into a high-impact sound built around Zavala’s commanding stage presence and Romero’s dynamic rap delivery. Fresh off their first fully sold-out international tour supporting Biohazard and Life of Agony across the UK and Europe, LYLVC are currently on the road in the US supporting Jeris Johnson alongside Butcher Babies and Eva Under Fire.

Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker, and Slim Jim Phantom announce a month-long, cross-country summer tour kicking off July 24 in Las Vegas and wrapping with three New York-area performances in mid-August. All three original members are back, and the setlist delivers exactly what the faithful want: “Stray Cat Strut,” “Rock This Town,” “Runaway Boys,” “(She’s) Sexy + 17,” and more. Fan club presales are live now through Thursday, March 12, with general on-sale beginning Friday, March 13 at 10AM local time.

“There’s something about the unique sound of The Stray Cats that keeps drawing me in,” says Setzer. “The Gretsch guitar, the acoustic bass, and the stand-up drums still sound pure and fresh today.” Rocker and Phantom echo that energy. “No one can do it like us Cats,” Rocker says, “nobody comes close.” Slim Jim adds that there is “always some extra magic around the summertime shows,” and this run looks to deliver exactly that.

The tour follows the release of two new tracks via Surfdog Records, their first new music in six years. “Stampede,” written by Setzer alongside Peter B. Antonio, Wally Zober, Bert Salmirs, and Mike Himelstein, and a cover of Eddie Cochran’s “Teenage Heaven,” penned by Cochran and Jerry Capehart, were both produced by the band, mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, and recorded at The Terrarium in Minneapolis and Laguna Sound in Laguna Beach. Both tracks are out now.

Formed in Massapequa, NY in 1979, The Stray Cats put rockabilly back on the charts in the early 1980s with a striking visual style and genuine musical chops. More than four decades later, they remain the gold standard of the genre.
