Tanzana Sign To SO Recordings And Hideous Mink Records Dropping Debut Single “Covet” Following BBC 6 Music Steve Lamacq Premiere

0

Glasgow newcomers Tanzana sign to SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special) and Hideous Mink Records (Alien Chicks, Opus Kink, Y) releasing debut single “Covet” on November 11 following its BBC 6 Music Steve Lamacq premiere the night before. Directed by Celia Hackford, the track showcases the quintet’s trip-hop influenced alternative rock that has already earned countless admirers within the vibrant Scottish scene, leading to dates alongside Lucia & The Best Boys and their own club night at King Tut’s last summer. The group explains “Covet” represents feelings of obsession and longing for something out of reach while being musically inspired by nature and its destruction. Tanzana is Freya Talbot on vocals, Lily Findlay on guitar, Sarah Dunn on guitar, Katie Hare on bass and Karolina Skinderskyte on drums.

Fresh from a UK run supporting Cliffords earlier this month and three shows at Left Of The Dial, the emerging quintet play cult London venue The George Tavern on November 13 as part of The Great Escape’s First Fifty showcase series. Further live dates include The Great Escape in Brighton May 14-16 and ArcTanGent on August 22 with more shows in the works for the coming months alongside additional new material primed for what promises to be a mammoth year ahead.

Dan Ashley Releases ‘Janet’ During National Homelessness Awareness Month

0

Dan Ashley has released his latest single, “Janet,” a heartfelt song inspired by a real woman who has no home, yet leaves a deep impression on everyone who crosses her path in Walnut Creek, California. Dan has known Janet personally for years, often stopping to talk with her and help in small ways, moved by her resilience and quiet grace. Through this song, he gives voice to her story and to the countless others like hers, transforming decades of reporting on homelessness into a profoundly personal and compassionate musical tribute during National Homelessness Awareness Month, observed each November in the United States.

“Janet” is a song about a real woman I’ve known for years who has no place to call home,” shares Dan Ashley. “I see her often in downtown Walnut Creek, and our conversations always remind me of her quiet strength and dignity despite her difficult circumstances. As a journalist, I’ve reported on homelessness for decades, but through this song, I wanted to tell that story in a deeply personal way, through the life of a very real and very sweet person named Janet.”

Katy Battles Endometriosis For 24 Years And Now Set To Release New Christmas Charity Single With Simon From The Bay City Rollers

0

Once hailed as one of the UK’s most promising young voices, singer Katy was tipped to become the next big thing before life took an unexpected turn. At just 16 she signed with iconic Rockfield Studios record label collaborating with top producers and songwriters. By 19 both Atlantic Records and Sony were vying to sign her with Fatboy Slim lined up to remix her debut single. At the height of her early success, Katy was diagnosed with endometriosis, a chronic and debilitating condition that left her bedridden for days and unable to keep up with recording and touring demands. Within months her label funding disappeared and her once promising career fell apart, beginning a 24 year battle with the disease that would shape and test her life through numerous surgeries, hormone treatments and hospital stays.

Despite the challenges, Katy never gave up on music. At 28 she recorded a track that became a major hit in France, featured in a national TV advert and streamed millions of times with French audiences affectionately dubbing her “La Voix” (The Voice). Then came an even bigger surprise when Katy discovered she was pregnant despite doctors saying she would never have children. Her daughter Honey May was born followed by twin boys two years later, with motherhood giving her strength and temporarily easing her symptoms. She continued performing, writing and working as a session vocalist for high profile artists, always staying connected to the music that defined her. Now 44, Katy has endured a hysterectomy, multiple organ complications and currently awaits surgery to remove her ovaries and repair further damage. When Simon from The Bay City Rollers invited her to record vocals for a new Christmas charity single with an all-star band, Katy immediately said yes and chose Endometriosis UK as the charity to benefit. Her story is one of resilience, hope and the healing power of music, proving that even in the face of pain, purpose can shine through. You can pre-save it here.

Joel Hoekstra’s 13 Drop ‘From The Fade’ February 27 With The Fall Single Featuring Vinny Appice, Tony Franklin And Derek Sherinian

0

Joel Hoekstra’s 13 releases ‘From The Fade’ on February 27, 2026 via Frontiers Music Srl with first single The Fall available now featuring an official visualizer. The Whitesnake and Trans-Siberian Orchestra guitarist built the songs from riffs written during his time filling in with Accept, giving the album a heavier edge while maintaining melodic hard rock territory. Hoekstra says The Fall draws from early influences Queensryche and Dokken with a powerful foundation from drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio) and bassist Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder), plus a killer keyboard solo from Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Sons of Apollo) and stunning vocals from Girish Pradhan (Girish and The Chronicles) backed by Jeff Scott Soto. The guitarist emphasizes his focus on songs rather than self-indulgent solos, writing the style of music that inspired him to pick up guitar in the first place.

The fourth Joel Hoekstra’s 13 studio album delivers 10 brand new tracks combining soaring melodies, thunderous riffs and high level musicianship with tight arrangements, technical precision and emotionally charged performances. Each track reflects Hoekstra’s signature songwriting rooted in tradition while pushing the genre forward with fresh contemporary sound. The New York guitarist known for work with Cher, Night Ranger, Broadway’s Rock of Ages, Monsters of Rock Cruise, Revolution Saints and viral collaborations has released three instrumental solo albums and three critically acclaimed Joel Hoekstra’s 13 records. He recently appeared as guest guitarist on Dancing with the Stars Hair Metal episode and played with Cher at her Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction and SNL 50 Homecoming Concert.

“From The Fade” Tracklist:

1.    You Can Give
2.    The Fall
3.    Lifeline
4.    Will You Remember Me
5.    Misunderstood
6.    Start to Fight
7.    All I’d Do
8.    Free To Be
9.    The End Of Me
10.    Quite The Ride
