Hard Rock Upstarts Romeo Announce Debut Album ‘Deja Vu Letters’ Arriving This May

0

Romeo have announced their debut album ‘Deja Vu Letters’, due May 29, 2026, via Street Symphonies Records and Burning Minds Music Group. The nine-track record channels the tragic, romantic, and bittersweet spirit of early 1980s hard rock, drawing inspiration from Thin Lizzy, UFO, Cheap Trick, and The Dogs D’Amour. Recorded at Slack Studios and Fico Studio by Romeo and Fede Randi, the album arrives as the band’s full introduction to the wider rock world.

Formed in 2024, the four-piece, comprising vocalist and guitarist Max Colliva, guitarist Andrea Zanolli, bassist Rudy B., and drummer Luke Cocchieri, built ‘Deja Vu Letters’ around a sound that feels both vintage and immediate. “The entire creative process was incredibly spontaneous,” the band says, “as if the songs simply appeared from nowhere. It felt like they were already physically in our hands before they even existed in our minds. A true deja vu.”

The album features a strong supporting cast of guest contributors. El Xicano handles keyboards and Hammond organ throughout, while Lena McFrison and Privi contribute backing vocals on “What’s Going On.” Filippo Tramontana and The Venezuela Boys bring horns to both “What’s Going On” and “Decadent Man,” adding texture and range to an already full-bodied record.

‘Deja Vu Letters’ is available for pre-save now ahead of its May 29 release.

Tracklist:

  1. Frankfurt Lights
  2. Italian Guy
  3. True Confessions
  4. Romeo (A Loyal Borderline)
  5. Soul Staller
  6. No More Chances
  7. I Need To Know
  8. What’s Going On
  9. Decadent Man

LYLVC and Bobby Amaru of Saliva Confront the Darkest Moments on Powerful New Single “Starless”

0

LYLVC release “Starless,” featuring Bobby Amaru of Saliva, out now via Judge & Jury Records. Recorded at Howard Benson’s West Valley Studios with producer Mike Plotnikoff, whose credits include Three Days Grace, My Chemical Romance, Halestorm, and Papa Roach, the track carries real emotional weight and delivers it with the kind of rock firepower this band has built their reputation on.

The song draws directly from lived experience. Frontman Oscar Romero wrote it about the days leading up to his own suicide attempt. “‘Starless’ stands as a testament to anyone who has felt that deceptive peace at the edge,” Romero says. “Even when it feels like the only solution, it isn’t, and you are not alone.” Vocalist Alyse Zavala brings her own story to the track, rooted in an abusive childhood and the resilience that followed. “On days if you ever feel too weak to pick yourself up, know we can be there for you,” she says. The honesty behind the music makes it land harder than most.

Amaru’s unmistakable voice as the frontman of Saliva fits the track perfectly, adding a raw, complementary edge alongside Zavala’s vocals. Judge & Jury Records, founded by multi-platinum producer Howard Benson and Three Days Grace drummer and songwriter Neil Sanderson, backs the release with serious industry muscle. The combination of production pedigree and genuine emotional stakes makes “Starless” one of LYLVC’s most fully realized releases to date.

The Raleigh, NC-based group fuses rock, hip-hop, and alternative into a high-impact sound built around Zavala’s commanding stage presence and Romero’s dynamic rap delivery. Fresh off their first fully sold-out international tour supporting Biohazard and Life of Agony across the UK and Europe, LYLVC are currently on the road in the US supporting Jeris Johnson alongside Butcher Babies and Eva Under Fire.

The Stray Cats Are Taking Their Legendary Rockabilly Show Back Across America This Summer

0

The Stray Cats are hitting the road. Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker, and Slim Jim Phantom announce a month-long, cross-country summer tour kicking off July 24 in Las Vegas and wrapping with three New York-area performances in mid-August. All three original members are back, and the setlist delivers exactly what the faithful want: “Stray Cat Strut,” “Rock This Town,” “Runaway Boys,” “(She’s) Sexy + 17,” and more. Fan club presales are live now through Thursday, March 12, with general on-sale beginning Friday, March 13 at 10AM local time.

“There’s something about the unique sound of The Stray Cats that keeps drawing me in,” says Setzer. “The Gretsch guitar, the acoustic bass, and the stand-up drums still sound pure and fresh today.” Rocker and Phantom echo that energy. “No one can do it like us Cats,” Rocker says, “nobody comes close.” Slim Jim adds that there is “always some extra magic around the summertime shows,” and this run looks to deliver exactly that.

The tour follows the release of two new tracks via Surfdog Records, their first new music in six years. “Stampede,” written by Setzer alongside Peter B. Antonio, Wally Zober, Bert Salmirs, and Mike Himelstein, and a cover of Eddie Cochran’s “Teenage Heaven,” penned by Cochran and Jerry Capehart, were both produced by the band, mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, and recorded at The Terrarium in Minneapolis and Laguna Sound in Laguna Beach. Both tracks are out now.

Formed in Massapequa, NY in 1979, The Stray Cats put rockabilly back on the charts in the early 1980s with a striking visual style and genuine musical chops. More than four decades later, they remain the gold standard of the genre.

Matt Palka Chases Love and Open Roads on New Single “Gypsy Queen”

BLOG POST

Matt Palka releases “Gypsy Queen,” the second single from his forthcoming collaborative album ‘Moment In The Sun’, due June 19. The track draws from a true story, the kind that starts with a sold motorcycle, a new suit, and a plane ticket to a best friend’s wedding in Los Angeles. “Then I fell for a bridesmaid,” Palka says, “and two months later we drove cross-country to make a new home together.” The song captures that instant, unexpected pull of new love with exactly the warmth the story deserves.

Americana Highways premiered the single, praising its “nostalgic swirls of pedal steel” and Palka’s “emotionally expressive vocals,” calling the result expansive and evocative. It is the kind of track that opens a window and lets the road rush in, rooted in lived experience and delivered with genuine feeling. The accompanying audiobook, also titled ‘Moment In The Sun’, arrives June 25 and follows a college graduate making a solo cross-country bicycle journey from Ohio to California on $600 and a guitar.

The audiobook is based on Palka’s own real-life adventure, a 2,361-mile ride over five weeks that took him across the highest highway in America, down Route 50 (The Loneliest Road in America), and through encounters that shaped both the man and the music. Performing Songwriter Magazine called the project transcendent, writing that it “shines bright.” The first single, “Oh Angela,” arrived last month to strong early response.

The audiobook also serves as season one of Palka’s new podcast, Americana Bohemia, with new chapters dropping every Monday and Thursday at mattpalka.com/podcast.

Kenny Chesney Receives Tortuga’s Inaugural Ocean Legacy Award at His Sixth Festival Headline

BLOG POST

Kenny Chesney will receive the inaugural Ocean Legacy Award at this year’s Tortuga Music Festival on April 12 in Fort Lauderdale, presented by Rock The Ocean Foundation. The honor recognizes Chesney’s longstanding commitment to ocean conservation and his unmatched relationship with the festival he helped launch in 2013. April 12 marks his sixth Tortuga headline appearance, and his only 2026 concert outside of his record-setting Sphere Las Vegas residency.

Rock The Ocean and Tortuga Festival founder Chris Stacey created the award specifically for Chesney. “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Kenny, who headlined the first Tortuga Festival in 2013, and returned more than any artist,” Stacey says. “We’re proud to work with such a legendary artist who authentically embodies Rock The Ocean’s mission, a love for the ocean and a commitment to protecting it.” Since 2013, Tortuga and Rock The Ocean have raised over $6,000,000 for ocean conservation, supporting more than 100 non-profit organizations and university programs.

Chesney’s Tortuga sets have become genuine moments for ocean culture, with sailboats, yachts, and cigarette boats bobbing offshore while tens of thousands fill the sand. The 2025 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee holds Billboard’s record for the most Country Airplay Number Ones with 33 chart-toppers, and is the only country artist in Pollstar’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Millennium. “To be given an award for doing what I love somewhere that brings every bit of it together almost feels wrong,” Chesney says, “but I’m honored if I could be part of bringing how we treat the ocean into focus.”

Tortuga Music Festival runs April 10 through 12 on the shores of Fort Lauderdale, produced in partnership with Live Nation. Post Malone headlines Friday, April 10, Riley Green takes Saturday, April 11, and Chesney closes the weekend on Sunday, April 12. Tickets and VIP packages are on sale now at tortugamusicfestival.com.

Festival Dates:

April 10, 2026, Tortuga Music Festival, Fort Lauderdale, FL (Post Malone)

April 11, 2026, Tortuga Music Festival, Fort Lauderdale, FL (Riley Green)

April 12, 2026, Tortuga Music Festival, Fort Lauderdale, FL (Kenny Chesney)

London Shoegazers Whitelands Bring ‘Sunlight Echoes’ to SXSW for Their First Ever US Shows

0

Whitelands are crossing the Atlantic. The London-based shoegazers head to SXSW in Austin, Texas this week for their first ever US dates, bringing the live show behind their acclaimed second album ‘Sunlight Echoes’, out now on Sonic Cathedral. The band arrives fresh off a successful EU and UK run that culminated in a packed show at MOTH Club in Hackney, and they have five confirmed festival appearances across four days.

‘Sunlight Echoes’ builds on their elemental 2024 debut ‘Night-bound Eyes Are Blind To The Day’, expanding the sound into something bigger, brighter, and more assured. Produced by Ian Flynn and mixed by double Grammy Award-winner Eduardo De La Paz (New Order, The Horrors, The Charlatans), the album features string arrangements by Iskra Strings and guest vocals from Lush’s Emma Anderson. Brooklyn Vegan called them “the most exciting thing to happen to shoegaze in a while,” and The Big Takeover praised it as “a rare achievement, an immersive, intelligent record.” The Yorkshire Post went further, calling Whitelands simply “Britain’s best young shoegaze band.”

Live, the band delivers exactly what the records promise: layered, reverb-heavy guitars, pure pop hooks, and frontman Etienne’s vocals soaring over the top. It is the kind of performance that earns a devoted room fast, and SXSW audiences are about to find out why.

Fri Mar 13, Pandora AMP x JAM Industries @ Shangri La, Austin, TX, 8:40pm CDT

SiriusXM Canada contributes $500,000 through MusiCounts to support youth well-being through community music programs nationwide

SiriusXM Canada, Canada’s leading audio entertainment company, today announced a contribution of  $500,000 through MusiCounts, the country’s leading music education charity, to support community-based music programs for youth across Canada through the SiriusXM Soundwaves MusiCounts Community Fund.

The funding will provide musical instruments, equipment, and essential resources to 27 non-profit organizations delivering inclusive music programs for young people up to age 25, many of whom face social, economic, cultural, or geographic barriers to participation.

Grants of up to $20,000 are awarded annually to organizations serving equity-deserving and historically underrepresented communities, including Indigenous youth, Black youth, newcomers, and young people facing mental health, financial, or accessibility challenges. By equipping organizations with the tools they need, the fund helps ensure youth can access the social, emotional, and mental health benefits of making music together.

“For many young people, music is more than an artistic outlet – it’s a lifeline,” said Kristy Fletcher, President of MusiCounts. “At a time when youth are experiencing rising rates of anxiety, isolation, and mental health challenges, music programs offer connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging. We’re deeply grateful to SiriusXM Canada for helping us deliver resources to organizations that are using music to support young people’s well-being in meaningful, community-driven ways.”

“Supporting the next generation of artists is an integral part of who we are at SiriusXM Canada,” said Rob Keen, Senior Vice President, Customer Lifecycle, Marketing & Partnerships, SiriusXM Canada. “We’re proud of the role we’ve played in helping young people across the country access music education and creative opportunities through programs like MusiCounts.”

As a long-standing partner, SiriusXM Canada has contributed nearly $2.5 million to music education initiatives nationwide, supporting over 333 community organizations to-date. LEGO Just Turned Mario Kart Into a 2,234-Piece Build and Luigi Is in the Driver’s Seat

0

If you have ever wanted to build your own Mario Kart before drifting into the first corner, LEGO just made that dream real. The new LEGO Super Mario “Mario Kart – Luigi & Mach 8” set is racing onto shelves, and it is a big one.

Designed for builders 18 and up, the set clocks in at 2,234 pieces and recreates Luigi behind the wheel of the sleek Mach 8 kart from the Mario Kart games. It is less of a toy and more of a display model, built with the kind of detail that makes it look like Luigi has just blasted out of Rainbow Road and landed on your shelf.

The kart captures the curved body, chunky tires, and low-slung racing stance that fans know from the games. Luigi sits ready for the race, leaning forward with that determined look that says he absolutely intends to beat Mario this time.

At $249.99 CAD, the set is available for pre-order now and ships starting April 1, 2026. LEGO Insiders members can also earn 1,250 points with the purchase, which can be redeemed for discounts and rewards on future builds.

The release continues LEGO’s growing love affair with gaming culture. Alongside the Luigi kart, the lineup of gaming-inspired sets now stretches from Pac-Man arcade cabinets to Pokemon builds and even a tiny brick-built Game Boy.

But for Nintendo fans, this one hits a particularly sweet spot. Mario Kart has been sending shells flying and friendships into friendly chaos for decades, and now one of its most recognizable karts is getting the full LEGO treatment.

Just remember one thing while building it.

Blue shells not included.

Awaiting Abigail Hit Hard and Fast With Debut EP ‘Bad Mind’ Out of the Texas Rock Scene

0

Awaiting Abigail are making serious noise. The Dallas/Fort Worth six-piece formed in 2024 and wasted no time, delivering a debut EP that drew national press attention and landed them on stages most new bands only dream about. Fronted by Abigail Hill, whose gritty, soaring vocal attack anchors every track, the band draws comparisons to Halestorm, Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless, and In This Moment while carving out a personality distinctly their own.

‘Bad Mind’ is the debut EP, and it goes straight for the throat. Four tracks of chunky, classic-metal-inspired riffs paired with rock-radio-ready melodies, tackling personal demons, mental strain, and the messy truth of what it takes to push forward. “I Hate You,” “Falling Under,” and the title track earned praise across the board. Illustrate Magazine called it something that “kicks in like a wrecking ball wrapped in velvet,” while The Big Takeover noted the band has “a foot in each camp” between metal power and hard rock groove, adding “this is a band that is doing it better.”

The accolades have stacked up fast. Power Play Magazine praised the EP’s sassy punch and dynamic contrast, and Decibel Magazine included the band in its MDPR Recommendations section (Issue 246). SONGSCOPE called them “arguably the most exciting metal newcomers to emerge in a long time.” A performance at the Whisky A Go Go alongside L.A. Guns in July 2025 marked an early milestone that underlined exactly where this band is headed.

Radio play across national and international online stations continues to grow, and the fanbase is building with it.
