Matt Berninger Drops “Nowhere Special” Video Starring His Brother Tom In Custom Tom Snyder Suit

0

Beloved indie rock frontman Matt Berninger released his critically praised sophomore album ‘Get Sunk’ earlier this summer and today returned with the official video for meditative single “Nowhere Special” starring Matt’s real life brother Tom Berninger who quite literally steps into Matt’s shoes and his custom Tom Snyder suit.

Matt comments he hasn’t seen a performance as good as Tom Berninger’s since Christopher Walken in Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” music video and hasn’t seen directing as good as Chris Sgroi’s since Spike Jonze directed that same video, while Tom adds he got to keep the suit and wears it every day.

Fellow touring bandmate Ronboy aka Julia Laws makes a cameo and shares that when Matt asked her to take part in a video starring one of her favourite actors Tom Berninger, she knew she had to sharpen her silver screen chops, noting their sibling dynamic is as sincere and entertaining off screen as it is on.

Berninger worked on ‘Get Sunk’ with Grammy Award winning producer and engineer Sean O’Brien who also co wrote many of the songs, creating a rich sonic landscape with help from Meg Duffy from Hand Habits, Kyle Resnick from The National and Beirut, Garret Lang, Sterling Laws, Booker T Jones, Harrison Whitford, Mike Brewer and The Walkmen’s Walter Martin and Paul Maroon, mostly recorded together in a Silverlake basement studio.

Kitchen Lover Release Punchy “There Goes My Brains” Ahead Of Debut Album ‘The Circus Sideshow Dream’

0

Brighton based punk risers Kitchen Lover released new single “There Goes My Brains” ahead of their debut album ‘The Circus Sideshow Dream’ dropping September 19th, produced by Erik Miles known for his work with SOFT PLAY, Baby Dave and Kate Nash. The track highlights the band’s quirky, playful yet intense punk aesthetic with grungy, fuzzy garage rock guitar tones comparable to Queens Of The Stone Age contrasting against loose and urgent delivery that harks back to classic ’70s punk, resulting in a short and punchy sub 2 minute fizzer. The band explains the song is about a boy who can’t comprehend why his part time lover won’t comply with his late night booty calls, the type we’ve all been victim of and probably perpetrator of too, with the desperate little boy completely unaware of his feelings and only able to scream in despair as his mind overloads with insecurity. The album comes following a breakout year for Kitchen Lover who played nearly 50 shows across the UK and opened for Getdown Services, Frankie And The Witch Fingers and Toya Delazy.

Acoustic Reserve Drop First Single Of The Year “Thanks for Asking” About Pretending You’re Fine When You’re Not

0

Acoustic Reserve just released their first single of the year “Thanks for Asking,” a raw heartfelt track about pretending you’re fine when you’re really not. Beautiful acoustic guitar work meets big reverb soaked soundscapes and tastefully layered vocals, with the music matching the emotional message perfectly. Chris Haughey on vocals and guitar plus Jim Hollenbach on guitar have built a sound that lives somewhere between nostalgia and emotional grit, an authentic stripped down feel that speaks intimately to the listener and will feel right at home for fans of Mt. Joy, Caamp and The Head and the Heart.

Lyrically, the song lives in the in between, after something ends but before you’ve moved on, touching on fake smiles, unsaid words and the space where we sit when everything feels unfinished. Haughey says “Thanks for Asking” is about the disconnect between how we present ourselves and how we actually feel, explaining that we’re all out here pretending to be fine and smiling through the wreckage, but the truth is it’s okay to not be okay for a while. He thinks if more of us admitted that, we’d build better connections and stop feeling so alone in it, a sentiment that runs through every note of this deeply relatable track.

The cover art features an acoustic guitar in the bed of an old pickup with the sun shining through the windshield, providing listeners a visual for exactly how the song feels. Acoustic Reserve are tapping into something real here, creating music that doesn’t hide behind production tricks or empty lyrics but instead sits with you in those uncomfortable moments we all experience but rarely talk about openly, building bridges through honesty instead of walls through pretending everything’s perfect when it absolutely isn’t.

Drake White Turns Up Summer Heat With Flirty New Single “Nuthin’ But a Smile”

0

Country soul singer songwriter Drake White turned up the heat this summer with sunny and sizzling new single “Nuthin’ But a Smile” out now, marking his first original release of 2025 and hinting at more to come shortly. White personally produced the song, collaborating with co writers Shane Minor and Monte Criswell, crafting a track where wailing guitar signals the perfect August afternoon on the river with friends and frosty beverages while organ echoes over a head nodding beat as he paints a picture of a river rat pipe dream party scene where the lies and the horseshoes fly.

White shares the song has been one of his favorites since the day they wrote it, growing up on the riverbank in Hokes Bluff, Alabama and always being a fan of the less is more mentality, especially when it comes to clothing during the dog days of summer, with the Muscle Shoals swampy sonics welcoming you to Soul Country.

Last month he dropped the three track ‘Scattered, Smothered, Covers’ EP putting his spin on “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish and “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash, following last year’s third full length studio album ‘Low Country High Road’ boasting the wisdom laden “Life, Love and War,” the mischievous “10 Lbs of S#!T” and blues and gospel tinged “Faith.”

Lauren Alaina Pours Her Heart Into “Little Things” About Life After Losing Her Father

0

Country superstar and Grand Ole Opry member Lauren Alaina chronicles her change of heart and perspective following the loss of her father on the deeply personal new song “Little Things” available now, finding her at her most vulnerable and earnest. Alaina shares that the loss of her father was unexpected and life shattering, explaining that when you have a loss of this magnitude, the little things in life start to matter a lot less.

She’ll never forget the conversation with her brother on the way to the session where she wrote this song after he told her someone complained to him about the cost of eggs and he kept thinking to himself that his dad just died and he didn’t really care about the cost of eggs anymore. Alaina told her brother that when something that really matters happens, your eyes are opened to what doesn’t, and she was going to write that song for them that day because she knows their dad would be proud of them both.

Penned with Ross Copperman, Seth Ennis and Emily Falvey and produced by lauded hitmaker Joey Moi, the song sung directly to her treasured father chronicles how her perspective shifted away from sweating the small stuff that vies for attention, with American Songwriter noting that Alaina has built up a reputation for being a vibrant force of positivity in the world.

“Little Things” follows a string of resonating releases including “All My Exes” featuring Chase Matthew which gave Alaina the biggest first week streaming numbers of her career, the sassy “Household,” the soft hearted sentimental “Those Kind of Women” and “Heaven Sent” celebrating the birth of her baby girl.

Glass Animals just unveiled “Vampire Bat,” the fifth installment in their Fresh Fruit Series where Dave Bayley and the band get to experiment with guests and collaborators while Dave who produces all Glass Animals records plays with new sounds. This one teams Dave with producer Rob Bisel who’s worked with SZA, continuing the series’ tradition of bringing in exciting collaborators to push the sound in unexpected directions. Previous Fresh Fruit releases include “Lose Control” with Joey Bada$$, the much missed “Gold Lime,” “Tokyo Drifting” with Denzel Curry and “I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)” with Albert Hammond Jr., establishing Fresh Fruit as the space where Glass Animals takes risks and explores territory outside their usual album cycles without worrying about how it fits into any bigger picture or commercial expectations.

Jon Nolan & Good Co. Drop Stunning “Sea Glass” Video Filmed On Maine Coast With Portland Music Legends

0

New Hampshire native Jon Nolan and his band of hometown friends Good Co. just released “Sea Glass” from their album ‘Slow Cooker’ out now via Strolling Bones Records, and the gorgeous heartfelt music video stars two of Portland’s most respected musical figures, Jon Roods from Rustic Overtones and Paranoid Social Club plus Anna Lombard from Gypsy Tailwind and Love by Numbers.

Co directed by Nolan and cinematographer Jay Boyington, the video follows a fictional romance between a lobsterman and his mysterious new neighbor that starts as a lighthearted montage of new love before evolving into something more emotional, mirroring the song’s metaphor of sea glass: once whole, then broken, reshaped by time and turmoil, ultimately rediscovered with even more beauty. Nolan explains that sea glass is a lovely metaphor for life and relationships, noting that not everything beautiful is built in comfort and trust is so often built in repair, with things getting broken and tossed around by the world yet still coming back more interesting, more textured, more valuable.

The album came together during monthly Slow Cooker Sessions at The Stone Church Music Club in Newmarket where friends would come and go, hangout, sit in a circle and play live, with Jon Nolan & Good Co. featuring Geoff Taylor on bass, Rick Habib on drums and Zack Tremblay on guitar cutting the record over four sessions after initially getting kicked out of a friend’s barn attic for being too loud.

Samantha Gongol Of Marian Hill Shares “When You’re Hot You’re Hot” And Wraps Web Series Ahead Of Solo EP

0

Multi-Platinum Marian Hill member Samantha Gongol dropped new song “When You’re Hot You’re Hot” ahead of her debut solo EP ‘Flash in the Pan!’ out now, with the track accompanied by an official video incorporating scenes from her six part semi autobiographical web series of the same name. The 8 track EP featuring previously released singles “Flash in the Pan!” and “Planes Are Low” marks a fresh musical direction for Gongol as she explores self reflection, uncertainty and the passage of time, themes that run through both the music and her web series created with real life brother Tommy Gongol.

The series follows a fictionalized version of Sam navigating what happens when a once rising pop star ends up back in her childhood bedroom at 35, with the finale opening on Sam dusting off an old guitar for a seemingly private acoustic performance of “Flash in the Pan!” on her parents’ back deck before her brother’s antics lead to leaked security camera footage going viral and setting up an unexpected career revival. F

ans of Marian Hill will recognize her signature emotive vocal delivery, but ‘Flash in the Pan!’ brings unexpected playful energy that signals Samantha’s desire to break new ground solo while delving into the complexities of getting older, confronting the fear that her industry moment might have passed, and wrestling with whether to keep going or walk away.
