As the exclusive national audio broadcaster of the U.S. Open, SiriusXM will deliver listeners nationwide more than 40 hours of live coverage across all four days of Championship play – Thursday, June 13th through Sunday, June 16th – from Course No. 2 at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina.

On Thursday and Friday, SiriusXM’s coverage will extend from the day’s first tee time through the end of play. On the weekend, SiriusXM’s on-course coverage will begin at 10 am ET on Saturday and Sunday and run through the completion of play both days. If a playoff occurs, SiriusXM will provide live coverage of every shot played.

U.S. Open Week on SiriusXM programming is available to subscribers nationwide in their cars (channel 92) and on the SiriusXM app.

SiriusXM’s U.S. Open Championship broadcast team will feature Taylor Zarzour and Brian Katrek handling play-by-play duties, alongside lead analyst Mark Carnevale. Three-time U.S. Open Champion Hale Irwin will join the SiriusXM team in the booth to provide analysis on Thursday and Friday.

Maureen Madill, Emelia Migliaccio, John Maginnes and Carl Paulson will be on-course reporters. The SiriusXM team will also include Jason Sobel and Jim McLean, who will provide commentary and conduct interviews with players. Immediately following each round, listeners will hear a two-hour wrap-up of the day’s play, hosted by Gary Williams.

“Pinehurst No. 2 is one of the most challenging courses in the world. With the best players in golf set to compete there we’re excited to bring listeners inside the ropes from the start of the Championship to the finish,” said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s President and Chief Content Officer. “With more than 40 hours of live hole-by-hole coverage, and in-depth specials on U.S. Open history and more, we’re going to bring our audience closer to what is annually one of the best events in golf.”

U.S. Open Week programming

U.S. Open Week programming on SiriusXM will feature live original programming starting at 7 am ET each weekday leading up to the Championship. Listeners will hear multiple notable programs and specials including:

  • “Payne and Me” – This hour-long special features Payne Stewart’s longtime caddie, Mike Hicks, taking listeners back to Stewart’s memorable 1999 U.S. Open victory at Pinehurst No. 2. Stewart overcame a one-stroke deficit over the final three holes to win his second U.S. Open with a 15-foot putt on 18, capped by the now indelible image of Stewart’s fist pump on the 18th green. Hicks shares his memories of that day with SiriusXM’s Gary Williams and walks listeners through Stewart’s play over the final three holes. Though Stewart’s life was tragically cut short in a plane crash just a few months after that 1999 U.S. Open, Williams and Hicks look at the three-time major winner’s long-lasting legacy in the game. Listeners can hear the special anytime on the SiriusXM app: https://sxm.app.link/PayneandMe
  • “The Lucas Glover Show” – Tuesday at 8 pm ET – hosted by 2009 U.S. Open Champion Lucas Glover.
  • “The Rocco Hour” – Monday and Tuesday at 6 pm ET – hosted by Rocco Mediate, who thrilled fans with his duel with Tiger Woods at the 2008 U.S. Open.
  • “ANNIKA” – Tuesday at 7 pm ET – hosted by one of the game’s legendary players and three-time U.S. Women’s Open champion, Annika Sorenstam.

Throughout the year, SiriusXM’s weekday golf programming lineup features live shows starting at 7 am ET that offer news, analysis, expert instruction and more.  For more go to SiriusXM.com/golfonsxm.

National Music Centre Launches New Exhibition Commemorating 60th Anniversary of The Beatles’ Arrival in Canada

0

Shake it up. Twist and shout. It’s time to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ arrival in Canada. On July 10, the National Music Centre (NMC) in Calgary will open a new exhibition, From Me to You: The Beatles in Canada 1964-1966, which offers a nostalgic tribute to the band’s transformative years upon arriving in Canada for the first time.

The display captures the cultural landscape of Canada in the 1960s, and the frenzied excitement of Beatlemania that swept across the country. Adorned with rare photographs, memorabilia and audiovisual treasures, the exhibition will transport visitors to the landmark moment when The Beatles invaded Canada’s consciousness and ignited a nation’s fervour.

“This exhibition is a must-see for any Beatles fan who wants to relive the band’s early years, and the cultural influence it brought to Canada,” said Piers Hemmingsen, music historian and author of The Beatles in Canada: The Origins of Beatlemania, who loaned NMC much of the items in the exhibition. “While much of the attention around Beatlemania was focused on the U.S., Canada was first to recognize the band and embrace its music. This exhibition is sure to bring back cherished memories that capture the spirit of that unforgettable time.”

From the band’s electrifying performances in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, nearly drowned out by the sounds of screaming fans, to the impact on pop culture that ensued, each artifact tells a story of the Fab Four’s indelible impact on Canadian music history. The exhibit not only showcases The Beatles’ musical evolution during this period, but also highlights its cultural influence.

“We are thrilled to commemorate this milestone anniversary with an exhibition that celebrates The Beatles’ monumental impact on music and culture in Canada,” said Andrew Mosker, President and CEO of the National Music Centre. “From Me to You: The Beatles in Canada 1964-1966 offers a unique opportunity for visitors to relive the excitement of Beatlemania. This exhibition is a testament to the band’s enduring influence after landing in North America 60 years ago.”

From Me to You: The Beatles in Canada 1964-1966 is accessible with paid admission to Studio Bell and will run from July 10, 2024 until January 5, 2025. For more information on hours and admission, visit studiobell.ca/general-admission.

Canadian Alt-Pop Sensation WITH VIOLET Drops New Album “Saturday Nights in Your Sunday Best” and Electrifying Single “That Boy”

0

Straight out of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canadian alt-pop band and local faves With Violet are expanding their eclectic sound to new levels with their latest album Saturday Nights in Your Sunday Best and a new single “That Boy.”

The group – comprised of Sarah Newell (vocals & saxophone), Peter “Pete” MacDonald (vocals & keyboards), Matthew Cadigan (guitar), Spencer FitzGerald (bass), and Hunter Madden (drums) – formed in 2018 and have been a local sensation ever since dropping their debut EP Long Story Short, racking up several award nominations and wins and performing at festivals all across NL, including a headlining stint at the Woody Point Spring Thaw Festival in 2023.

Saturday Nights In Your Sunday Best, is a marriage between their two previous EPs, Saturday Nights In and Your Sunday Best, both released in 2023. It’s the culmination of two years’ worth of work and many hours in the studio in which the band decided to whet their fans’ appetites for the final full-length release by dropping bite-sized EPs. The new album features all the songs from the EPs plus some new tracks for a fresh yet familiar listening experience.

The lead single off the album, “That Boy”, is a neon-tinged joyride through the perils of longing and desire, with a feel-good, East Coast vibe that puts one in mind of an ‘80s rom-com. MacDonald’s powerful and emotional vocals seem to both lament and celebrate those whirlwind feelings of temptation that come with being attracted to someone, while With Violet’s signature infectious energy and beats let you know that, regardless of the lyrical subject matter, this is a band that you can be sure will have you on your feet at any live venue, including opening for Barenaked Ladies and Tokyo Police Club at the IceBerg Alley Performance Tent in St. John’s on June 19.

Alt.Dark-Pop Sensation Mikalyn Returns with Haunting New Single ‘Falling Apart’ Ahead of Highly Anticipated EP Release

0

After jumping onto the music scene at only age 14, Guelph/Toronto, ON’s Alt.Dark-Pop princess Mikalyn has shown no signs of slowing down into adulthood, having already released a slew of singles over the years, including “Blame”, “Ready To Love You”, and “Phases”.

Now, the 22-year-old is back with her latest single, “Falling Apart”, featuring the languid vibe moody vocals that she excels at and has become her signature. It’s in this track that you can really hear the influences of many of Mikalyn’s music idols, including Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey, and Lorde.

“Falling Apart is about how you feel after a breakup,” Mikalyn explains. “You’re reflecting on the relationship and admitting how much you’re hurting. It’s about feeling despair and defending yourself from people telling you to simply get over it. It’s about not apologizing for your emotions and inner conflict, because you’re angry but you’re also sad/defeated at the same time. It’s a song about the space and time between breakup and acceptance.”

The Canadian singer is certainly no stranger to these angsty themes in her songs, often touching expertly upon the haunting feelings that come with falling in – and out – of love.

But that’s not all – Mikalyn is also gearing up to release a new EP, Things I Never Said, slated to drop this August. The EP will mark a move away from the EDM genre that Mikalyn has been playing in recently, striving for a more cohesive project that sticks to a single unifying sound.

“As much as I appreciate my time in the EDM sphere and will continue to do EDM, I don’t feel like it’s me anymore,” she says. “This EP will be the first project I put out where all the songs are cohesive, they work together musically.”

This EP will also reunite her with producer/writer Murray Daigle and writer Bobby John, who have been working with the Guelph, Ontario, native since she first started making and releasing music in her teens. “I like how Murray treats my vocals, and Bobby is an amazing co-writer.” She continues, “We wrote for 3 days and did 2 songs a day. The main thing I wanted was to make sure the songs were synth-driven with lots of harmonies. I wasn’t as concerned with following traditional structures lyrically, but more wanted to focus on the sound. I sat with the demos and decided that I liked them all enough to fully produce. I recorded all the vocals for the EP at Phase One Studios in Toronto and got Murray to mix and master them.”

If her last few singles are any indication of what to expect from the new EP, we are definitely in for a real treat.

Kingston’s Roots Rocker Christopher Jackson Unveils New Single “Best Of Me”

0

Kingston’s multi-instrumentalist Christopher Jackson is thrilled to announce the release of his new single, “Best of Me”.

This production evokes notes of seventies roots rock, alt-country, and blends folky Americana with his own twist. It encapsulates events and experiences in Jackson’s life over the last few years.

““Best of Me” was written about making changes in my life and moving forward,” says Jackson. “Not letting anyone bring me down or get in my way.”

With over 30 years under his belt as a working musician in a variety of bands, Jackson has built a reputation as a true entertainer. He is known for his banter, audience interaction and impromptu musical collaborations.

The album is produced in collaboration with recording engineer Paul “Doc” Halladay. All the vocals and the majority of the instrumentation, including electric/acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums and mandolin, is performed by Jackson.

The album also features guest musicians Burke Carroll on pedal steel, Matt Weidinger on piano/Hammond organ, Shane Guse on fiddle, Matt Wray on Dobro, Mike Verner on trumpet, and Spencer Evans on piano/clarinet.

Listeners will find “Best Of Me” to be authentic, real and relatable. “I believe people can relate to this song and make it their own because all we really want is to be the best we can be,” says Jackson.

Multi-instrumentalist and solo artist Christopher Jackson was born in Chatham, Ontario and is now based in Kingston, Ontario. After 30 years as a working musician in a variety of bands and session recordings – and six years of entertaining listeners at the popular “Chris Jackson & Friends” Friday night show at venue BluMartini – Jackson decided it was time to put all his experiences together and see where his own writing and music might take him. His debut album carries that personal connection felt at his live shows into his songs.

How to Make the Right Sports Predictions

0

By Mitch Rice

The main difference between betting on sports and any other game of chance is that the outcome of an event is less dependent on chance. For those seeking reliable bookmakers and valuable betting information, you can visit https://rg.org. Possible outcomes in betting are subject to analysis, and the degree of risk can be at least partially determined by special knowledge and understanding of the sport. We will tell you what is essential for this and what should be analyzed when choosing a bet on sports.

Of course, even in sports, chance can influence the outcome, which means that a continuous winning streak over a long distance is unlikely. Nevertheless, with proper analysis, achieving success for most predictions and gaining an edge over chance in the long run is possible.

Current Shape and Motivation

These two criteria may be fundamental to correctly predicting any sport. It is only sometimes possible to determine the current form and motivation of the athletes. Still, if these components are precise, then an experienced and competent bettor does not need anything else to make a correct prediction in some cases. However, it is always a good idea to be more thorough.

Features of the Sport

Components of sports betting analysis, such as athletes» current form or motivation, are relevant for all sports. In turn, the specificity of a particular sport largely determines the criteria for selecting events for betting.

Each sport has factors that affect the event’s outcome to a greater or lesser extent.

In team sports, one player’s injury or ill health may not affect a match’s outcome. In individual disciplines, however, this factor can be decisive. Also, in some sports, the weather or the condition of the pitch can influence the result of a match, while in others, it does not matter much.

Statistics with an Emphasis on Recent Trends

Statistics are not always publicly available, but they will be helpful when assessing the odds and choosing a bet. The fact is that in most cases, statistics is the primary tool in the hands of the bookmaker. Therefore, the odds in the line already take this factor into account.

Still, you should pay attention to statistics. It is especially worth paying attention to the latest trends and understanding why this happens. In addition, unique or rare statistics of individual game elements or indicators, which are used for betting on such markets in the payout, can be helpful.

Trends and Patterns

Due to successfully filtered statistics, trends and patterns should be singled out separately. Of course, if, under certain circumstances, the result is repeated for a long time, it is impossible to ignore such a fact in the analysis. Here, it is essential to understand how relevant the trend is today. Have you kept the accompanying circumstances the same? And this is already a matter of the bettor’s competence.

Odds Movement and Its Causes

Often, bookmakers change the odds in the line by hundredths or even tenths several times before the match. You can trace the dynamics of bookmaker odds changes on one of the unique services on the web. What can this information tell us, and should we pay attention to it?

You should pay attention to the change of odds when this change is steadily directed in one direction, i.e., the odds are constantly falling or rising.

A rapid drop in the odds usually means massive bets on this outcome. Sometimes, the movement of odds can be associated with an athlete’s injury or any other circumstances that, in the bookmaker’s opinion, will affect the result.
