From Will Arnett, Crave Announces New Original Adult Animated Comedy Series, SUPER TEAM CANADA

0

Crave announced today a 10-episode order for the new, half-hour adult animated comedy, SUPER TEAM CANADA, its first commission of an animated series. The Crave Original series is produced in partnership with Thunderbird Entertainment’s Atomic Cartoons (Max’s YOUNG LOVE), and Will Arnett’s Electric Avenue (SNAKE OIL, TWISTED METAL), and is currently in production with a premiere set for 2025.

Created by Canadian Emmy®-winning writers, and brothers, Robert Cohen (HBO’s SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, THE BIG BANG THEORY) and Joel H. Cohen (THE SIMPSONS), the animated comedy focuses on the exploits of six, little-known Canadian superheroes trying to save the world from evil giant robots, an unemployed octopus, and needy hardware store clerks. The stakes are high for these stereotypically underdog Canadian super-unknowns, who are called in as Earth’s last resort when all the other superheroes have been destroyed.

The Tragically Hip Named 2024 Record Store Day Canada Ambassadors

0

Today, The Tragically Hip are proud to be announced as the Record Store Day Canada 2024 Canadian Ambassadors, releasing an exclusive standalone live album, Live at CBGB’s, on Record Store Day. The global celebration of the culture of independent record stores takes place this year on April 20, 2024, as it has annually for the last 17 years. This announcement marks the first of many moments this year for The Tragically Hip as they celebrate 40 years as a band.

Live At CBGB’s features nine live songs that were originally recorded on January 14, 1993, from the legendary New York venue CBGB’s as The Tragically Hip launched their third studio album, Fully Completely, in America with a private event from the intimate space. The band performed the record in full, omitting a few tracks that didn’t fit the bill. This concert recording will be available on April 20 for the first time as a 12” pink vinyl with a limited run of pink cassettes at participating record stores in Canada and the US.

“Record Store Day Canada is overjoyed that legendary Canadian band, The Tragically Hip, will be the Record Store Day Canada 2024 Canadian Ambassadors. There are few bands that represent Canadiana; our traditions, values and pastimes, the way The Tragically Hip does. The band is woven into the fabric of our culture and the annals of our beloved rock radio with innumerable hits. Fans continue to honour the legacy of The Tragically Hip, who brought a genuine and unique passion to their music. RSDC is looking forward to contributing to the band’s ongoing legacy by releasing Live at CBGB’s for Record Store Day 2024. Pressed for the very first time, it will be a great addition to collections of The Tragically Hip fans nationwide.”

Established in 1984, this year marks 40 Years of The Tragically Hip – a milestone for the beloved band. 2024 sees The Tragically Hip break open the archives; reminiscing with fans on four decades of music, friendship and philanthropy. The band’s legacy will be honoured with a yearlong celebration, starting with the designation of the Record Store Day Canada Ambassadors, then a deluxe package of their breakthrough album, Up To Here, the latest installment of a series of special deluxe packages released over the last few years– Road Apples 30th Anniversary Deluxe Boxset (2021), Fully Completely Vinyl Release (2022), Phantom Power 25th Anniversary Deluxe Boxset (2023). Plus, a four-part Amazon documentary, and much more.

The Tragically Hip has been at the heart of the Canadian musical zeitgeist, evoking a strong emotional connection between their music and their fans that remains unrivalled. A five-piece group of friends including Rob Baker (guitar), Gord Downie (vocals, guitar), Johnny Fay (drums), Paul Langlois (guitar) and Gord Sinclair (bass), who grew up in Kingston, Ontario, The Tragically Hip have achieved both mass popularity with more than 10 million albums in Canada and over 1.5 million sold in the U.S, as well as peer recognition through 17 Juno Awards – picking up the distinguished Humanitarian Award in 2021 at the 50th annual JUNO Awards, which recognizes Canadian artists or industry leaders whose humanitarian contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada and beyond. In 2022, they were inducted into Canada’s Walk Of Fame for Humanitarianism in pursuit of social and environmental justice. They had previously received a star on the Walk Of Fame in 2002 for Arts & Entertainment. Most recently, the band along with their manager, Jake Gold, received the War Child Canada Founder’s Award celebrating over 20 years of support for the global humanitarian organization. The Tragically Hip’s tireless activism and philanthropic pursuits have raised millions of dollars for multiple social and environmental causes, such as Camp Trillium, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Sunnybrook Foundation, WAR Child, the Special Olympics, and the Unison Benevolent Fund. Their studio catalogue includes their self-titled debut album The Tragically Hip (1987), Up To Here (1989), Road Apples (1991), Fully Completely (1992), Day For Night (1994), Trouble At The Henhouse (1996), Phantom Power (1998), Music @ Work (2000), In Violet Light (2002), In Between Evolution (2004), World Container (2006), We Are The Same (2009), Now For Plan A (2012), Man Machine Poem (2016) and Saskadelphia (2021). A National Celebration was the final show of The Tragically Hip’s Man Machine Poem Tour recorded on August 20th, 2016, at the K-Rock Centre in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario, and is their last performance as a five-piece band. Through their career the band became a cultural touchstone in Canada, who despite their accolades and numerous recognitions, will always be proudest of the humanitarian work they have done over the years through numerous charitable organizations and causes. The legacy of the band’s frontman, the late Gord Downie, continues with The Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund, which aims to build cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

Rhino Announces Vinyl Reissues For Keith Sweat’s Make It Last Forever And Eric Benét’s A Day In The Life

0

Rhino Records celebrates the start of Black History Month today by announcing vinyl reissues of albums by two legendary architects of modern R&B: Keith Sweat’s triple-platinum debut, Make It Last Forever, and Eric Benét’s breakthrough release, A Day In The Life.

Keith Sweat made an impressive debut with Make It Last Forever, a triple-platinum album about love and romance that showcased his smooth vocals and soulful melodies. A hit out of the gate, the lead single, “I Want Her,” went to #1 on the R&B chart, peaked at #5 on the Hot 100, and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album produced three more Top 10 R&B hits: the title track, “Don’t Stop Your Love,” and “Something Just Ain’t Right.” In 1998, Make It Last Forever ranked at the top of Billboard’s year-end R&B chart, establishing Sweat as a trailblazer in contemporary R&B.

Eric Benét’s sophomore album, A Day In The Life, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. On the album’s first single, Benét is joined by guest vocalist Faith Evans for “Georgy Porgy,” a song the rock band Toto originally recorded in 1979. Benét’s version was popular in Europe and the U.S., where it was a hit on the R&B and pop charts. The album’s second single, “Spend My Life With You,” was an even bigger hit. Featuring singer Tamia, the song soared to the top of the Hot R&B chart, where it stayed for three straight weeks. The single was certified gold and nominated for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2000 Grammy Awards.

The Grateful Dead Break The All-Time Record For Most Top 40 Albums on Billboard 200

0

Today, the Grateful Dead have broken the record for most Billboard Top 40 albums of all time, by any act in history. Further cementing the legendary band as one of the world’s most treasured musical and social phenomena, Dave’s Picks Vol. 49 debuts at #25 on this week’s Billboard 200, and marks the Dead’s 59th album in the Top 40. On the heels of Dave’s Picks Vol. 48, which tied both Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley’s chart records this past fall, the latest edition of the beloved 13-year-old series pushes the group into a category of one. But beyond this staggering statistic, the historic achievement serves as a tangible testament to the enduring connection between the Grateful Dead and their ever-expanding audience. Nearly 60 years since the band’s inception, that bond is as strong today as it has ever been, spanning several generations and bringing newer and younger followers into its fold every day. As fans continue to adopt the group as part of their personal identity, the Grateful Dead’s all-encompassing ecosystem continues on its precedent-setting path of growth in the modern era.

Dave’s Picks Vol. 49 consists of two complete Grateful Dead shows from Stanford University’s Frost Amphitheatre on 4/27/85 and 4/28/85; back-to-back hometown performances that reaffirmed the band – then twenty years into their immortal run – as a San Francisco institution. Like each of Dave’s Picks quarterly installments, the top-grade, beautifully packaged compendium was produced and curated by Grateful Dead Legacy Manager and Audio Archivist, David Lemieux. Vol. 49 is Dave’s Picks’ 41st title to enter the Top 40 and the Grateful Dead’s 45th Top 40 record released by Rhino Entertainment. It also debuts #1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales this week, marking the first time the Dead have topped that chart.

“This could be the most unlikely and unexpected record in music history, and is a testament to a few things,” says David Lemieux, who celebrates his 25th Anniversary with the Grateful Dead in 2024. “First and foremost is the exceptional and consistent quality of the Grateful Dead’s more than 2,000 live shows. On the heels of this is the loyalty and passion of the many Dead Heads who have made this record possible. And to top it off, the Grateful Dead have a partnership with Rhino that ensures these many album releases are produced with care, love, and respect for both the band’s music and legacy, and the Dead Heads themselves. It’s an honour and privilege to work for this community, and our aim is to keep building on this record by delivering the quality of recordings Dead Heads have come to expect for many years ahead.”

Mark Pinkus, President of Rhino, adds, “It is truly remarkable to witness the Grateful Dead’s enduring legacy and profound impact. Their music and culture transcend time, and this groundbreaking achievement is a testament to their ongoing influence. Rhino is honored to continue to share their meaningful and magical music with Dead Heads, both old and new.”

“This remarkable achievement speaks not only to the genius and vision of the Grateful Dead, it is also a reminder of their truly epic live shows that reinterpreted their great American songbook every single time they took the stage! Simply put, this is another incredible milestone for a band who has never compromised, and has always done everything on their own terms,” says Bernie Cahill, Founding Partner, Activist Artists Management and manager of the Grateful Dead.

With the impending release of Dave’s Picks Vol. 50 (Palladium, New York City – 5/3/77), in addition to 50th Anniversary reissues, high-fidelity vinyl pressings, a new season of the Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast and so much more on the horizon in 2024, the Grateful Dead remain committed to serving their always-growing community and time-honored traditions, with a pioneering devotion to complete accessibility.

The Grateful Dead is a social and musical phenomenon that grew into a genuine American treasure. In 1965, an entire generation was linked together by common ideals, gathering by the hundreds and thousands. This movement created a seamless connection between the band and its fans. As the band toured, Dead Heads would follow. Not because it was a part of popular culture but because it is a true counterculture that exists to this very day-one that earnestly believes in the value of its beliefs. By 1995, the Grateful Dead had attracted the most concertgoers in the history of the music business, and today remains one of the all-time leaders in concert ticket sales. Eventually, the caravan evolved into a community with various artists, craftsmen and entrepreneurs supplying a growing demand for merchandise that connected them to the music. Today, the connection is as strong as ever. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and received a GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Their final tally of 2,318 total concerts remains a world record. The Grateful Dead recently celebrated their 59th Top 40 album on the Billboard chart, a feat no other group has achieved.

Billy Currington Announces Spring 2024 Tour With Kip Moore

0

Billy Currington will hit the road this spring with Kip Moore and special guests Larry Fleet and Redferrin on select dates, produced by Live Nation. Taking his Multi-Platinum hits and energetic live show to major markets including Atlanta, Nashville, New York, and more, tickets go on sale this Friday (1/26) at 10am local time.

Billy Currington has spent nearly two decades topping the country charts, parlaying his rich, emotion-laden tenor and unerring song sense into some of the format’s most memorable hits. Across multiple Platinum-certified albums, the Georgia native has tallied 12 No. 1 singles, including 4X Platinum hit “People Are Crazy,” 3X Platinum “Good Directions,” 3X Platinum “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” plus Double-Platinum “Do I Make You Wanna,” Platinum “We Are Tonight,” and more. Equally skilled at delivering upbeat summertime anthems as well as exploring the complexities of life and love with a poignant ballad, Currington joined Jessie James Decker on the wistful, slow-burning duet “I Still Love You.” Two new songs – “City Don’t” and “Anchor Man” – are out now, with more new music on the way.

Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Kip Moore recently released his fifth studio album DAMN LOVE. Praised by Holler as “the best album of Kip Moore’s career.” Moore’s DAMN LOVE WORLD TOUR in 2023 saw more play sold-out headlining shows – including stadiums – in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, The U.K., Europe, and the U.S. Known as “one of country’s more thoughtful artists” (Billboard), Moore has toured the world earning acclaim and a rabid fanbase as an all-in performer in each setting, consistently selling out headlining shows internationally with huge followings. Praised by Noisey as “an uncompromising, genre-defying artist firing on all cylinders” Moore has blazed his trail, with “a bit more Southern rock than traditional country… to be a Kip Moore fan suddenly became a marker of your having a certain refinement in your country-music taste” (Chicago Tribune). Moore first splashed into the mainstream with the double-PLATINUM “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” in 2012, then followed up with three more best-selling No. Ones (“Hey Pretty Girl,” “Beer Money” and “More Girls Like You”). In 2024, Moore will hit the road with Billy Currington as part of a limited Billy Currington & Kip Moore: Live In Concert run, as well as join HARDY this summer for his QUIT!! Tour.

Tennessee-born troubadour Larry Fleet grew up on a stack of records spanning Merle Haggard, Otis Redding, Willie Nelson, and Marvin Gaye. A thoughtful songwriter with a knack for a one-liner, an ear for a sturdy hook, and a powerhouse voice that strikes like a match, Fleet was working blue-collar jobs to make ends meet long before landing his recording contract with Big Loud Records. Six years in, the devout family man is turning heads among fans and critics with albums full of soon-to-be-classics; 2021’s tribute to the music that raised him, Stack of Records, his aptly titled 2019 debut, Workin’ Hard, and his third effort, Earned It, out now. Saving Country Music puts it simply: “If you’re looking for the future of traditional country music, then look no further than…Larry Fleet.” A road-tested live show standout, Fleet wrapped 2022 and 2023 with his headlining One For The Road Tour and Larry Fleet Live, respectively, following up crowd-winning opening slots supporting Darius Rucker, Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Jon Pardi, and many more. He just announced his upcoming headlining run, The Earned It Tour, set for the top of 2024.

In many ways, Warner Music Nashville’s rising artist Redferrin is a musical version of the famous Jack Daniels Old No. 7 blend. Made in Tennessee just like the whiskey, the singer-songwriter is emerging from behind the scenes of country’s edgy new post-modern era. He packs a punch you can’t ignore, and although his mix of country heart and hip-hop swagger might be an acquired taste, he’s been bringing fans a full-bodied buzz for years now – most recently with his viral hit “Jack & Diet Coke,” which has surpassed 25 million global streams and charted on Spotify’s Viral 50 (US) chart. But with his long-awaited Old No. 7 debut, out February 16, those fans can now savor their buzz longer than ever. Each song on the EP was co-produced by Redferrin himself – another important new ingredient making Old No. 7 his most potent (and exciting) small-batch yet. Best known as a collaborator, his co-written hits include good-timing anthems by early believers Florida Georgia Line – tracks like “Lil Bit” (featuring Nelly), “New Truck,” “Countryside” and more, plus a record-breaking Canadian No. 1, “Can’t Help Myself” by Dean Brody & The Reklaws. No longer sending his best songs away, Redferrin is all-in on his artistic vision. The man behind the scenes is now stepping into the spotlight and it’s about time. The 2024 Amazon Breakthrough Artist to Watch has amassed over 60 million global streams so far and will tour across the country throughout the year with artists such as Niko Moon, Billy Currington and more.

The 2024 Tour follows The Doobie Brothers 50th Anniversary Tour which had TOM JOHNSTON, MICHAEL MCDONALD, PAT SIMMONS and JOHN MCFEE back on the road together for the first time in over 25 years. In 2023, the band released a new single, “Lahaina”, their first release since their 2021 album Liberté. The song, which also featured Mick Fleetwood, Jake Shimabukuro, and Henry Kapono, is in support of those affected by the devastating fires in Maui last year. Along with this new music, The Doobie Brothers’ collection of timeless hits will once again be played by the artists who wrote them, providing fans the rare opportunity to see these Rock and Roll legends performing their full catalog of songs on stage.

For over five decades, The Doobie Brothers have been known for delivering mind-blowing, roots-based, harmony-laden, guitar-driven rock and roll – all of which recently culminated in an induction into the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Boasting one of the most loyal fan bases in music, selling more than 48 million albums, and winning four GRAMMY® Awards, The Doobie Brothers continue to write and record new material and tour the world. Their No. 1 singles “Black Water” and “What a Fool Believes,” both gold, lead a catalog of indelible songs that include: “Listen to the Music,” “China Grove,” “Jesus Is Just All Right,” “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “Take Me In Your Arms,” “Takin’ it to the Streets,” “Minute by Minute,” “You Belong to Me,” “The Doctor” and more. About The Doobie Brothers

Mother Mother & Cavetown Join Forces For 2024 North American Co-Headline Tour

0

Canada’s biggest alt-rock export Mother Mother and multi-Platinum singer/songwriter and producer Cavetown join forces for a massive North American co-headline tour this summer, with Destroy Boys supporting on all dates. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on June 7 in Phoenix, rolling through boutique amphitheaters from coast-to-coast, hitting famed venues like Red Rocks in Colorado, with stops in Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, Vancouver, New York, Chicago, and more. Artist pre-sales go live on January 22 at 11am local time, with general on-sale beginning January 26 at 10am local time.

“We are beyond thrilled to share the stage with Cavetown on the first co-headline tour of our career,” says Mother Mother vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Ryan Guldemond. “We are huge fans of the music, the art, and the community that surrounds this artist, and we feel like the Mother Mother world will merge beautifully with theirs to create an epic night of indie rock and positive vibes. Truly can’t wait!”

“It’s gonna be so cool to be touring with Mother Mother this summer!!” shares Cavetown. “I’m such a fan and am excited to see our fanbases come together for our big rock show. See you soon !!”

The tour announcement arrives as Mother Mother share their new single, “Nobody Escapes” — listen HERE via Warner Records and watch the captivating video HERE. “In ‘Nobody Escapes,’ we sing cheerily about the indiscriminate nature of death and how, regardless of status, good looks or physique, the reaper comes for us all,” says Guldemond. “The animated video that accompanies our rollicking and blasphemous album opener follows suit, depicting a sinister factory where conveyor belts and machinery crudely sort through freshly fallen souls.”

The track is the latest offering from their highly anticipated new album, Grief Chapter, due out February 16 via Warner Records. Pre-order HERE. The album was introduced by lead single “Normalize,” which arrived alongside an intense video directed by acclaimed horror director Colin Minihan (Grave Encounters, What Keeps You Alive). It was then followed by the uplifting “To My Heart” and the future-facing “The Matrix,” which deploys dreamy keys and swooning vocals.

Cavetown is currently finalizing a highly-anticipated batch of new music for 2024. He most recently wrapped his biggest tour to date, Bittersweet Daze – featuring mxmtoon, Ricky Montgomery, and grentperez – which was his first stateside run since 2022 and in support of his globally acclaimed album, worm food. As the follow up to 2020’s Sleepyhead, the record catapulted Cavetown to more than 4 billion streams worldwide and earned widespread praise from the likes of The New York Times, The FADER, NME, V Magazine, and more. Stay tuned for more announcements coming soon.

The 502s Announce ‘Great American Road Trip Tour’

0

Today, American indie folk group The 502s have announced their Live Nation-produced 2024 trek – Great American Road Trip – across 26 cities in North America with support from Zach Seabaugh and Daniel Nunnelee. The “happiest band on Earth” promises to deliver their signature upbeat folk party performance in support of their forthcoming self-titled album coming out on April 12th. The tour kicks off on April 12 at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, FL making stops in Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; New York, NY; Toronto, ON; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA and more before wrapping up in Austin, TX at Scoot Inn on May 24.

he 502s are known as the happiest band on earth. Led by earnest banjo-strumming lead singer-songwriter Ed Isola, the six piece indie-folk (or beach core or ska folk) band from Orlando is more than just a group of happy-go-lucky musicians, they are one of the best live bands of their generation. The raucous, nonstop, life-affirming experience of a 502s show is quickly becoming a thing of legend.

In three short years, the 502s leapt from their first show at a local bar to selling out tours across the US and Europe, fueled by their hit “Just A Little While” (100m streams and counting). However, to credit their fast rise to success on one song misses the full story and would greatly disappoint the enthusiastic fanbase who sing every word to every song at their live shows. As a fan once famously said “If you could bottle this experience up and sell it, it would solve a lot of the world’s problems.”
