Christine and the Queens’ releases a stunning new music video for “Marvin descending” from his critically acclaimed fourth studio album, PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE (Because Music). The video, directed by Red (AKA Christine and the Queens) and shot between the captivating backdrops of Paris, London, and Los Angeles, is both visually stunning and emotionally charged. It takes viewers on a mesmerizing journey through enchanting choreography and insightful visuals that perfectly complement the hauntingly beautiful track.

Erasure’s Vince Clarke Announces His Debut Solo Album ‘Songs of Silence’

Vince Clarke, the primary composer and musician in Erasure, and previous songwriter and member of Yazoo, Depeche Mode, and The Assembly, presents (unbelievably) his first ever solo album, Songs of Silence, available November 17th on heavy weight vinyl and CD.

As the album title suggests, Songs of Silence is a lyricless, instrumental album, and is hugely evocative for that. Unlike anything you’ve previously heard from Vince Clarke as an artisan of dynamic electropop, Songs of Silence has about it a more sober ambient electronic beauty, its unique characteristics put it in a category of its own.

For the creation of the record Vince set himself two rules – first that the sounds he himself generated for the album would come solely from Eurorack (a modular synthesizer format introduced in the mid-90s) and secondly that each track would be based around one note, maintaining a single key throughout. The resultant pieces, with the Eurorack sound clay then manipulated on Logic Pro, amount to wordless narratives, in which a sense of synthgenerated, cosmic remoteness is often jolted by stark interventions, reminders of the human hand at work amid this machinery.

This album sees Vince Clarke not content to rest on his considerable pop legacy, and instead open up for himself, and for the rest of us, exciting new electronic vistas in which the permutations and possibilities are limitless.

The Rolling Stones Unveil New Single “Angry” From Hackney Diamonds, Their First Studio Album Of New Material Since 2005

The Rolling Stones, come roaring out of the traps today with the release of their rocking single “Angry” (Listen Here.) It arrives alongside the announcement of their hugely anticipated new album, titled Hackney Diamonds and released on October 20th. The exciting news was shared today by Mick, Keith and Ronnie at a special media launch event at the historic Hackney Empire, East London’s epicentre of pioneering art for almost 125 years. The launch was hosted by American tv star Jimmy Fallon and streamed worldwide via YouTube.

The 12-track album, for which full track list information will be revealed in due course, was recorded in various locations around the world, including Henson Recording Studios, Los Angeles; Metropolis Studios, London; Sanctuary Studios, Nassau, Bahamas; Electric Lady Studios, New York; and The Hit Factory/Germano Studios, also in New York.

The album is their first studio set of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang, coincidently released on September 6, 18 years ago. Since then, the Stones have continued to smash box office records for fun on a series of global sellout tours and released 2016’s Grammy Award winning Blue & Lonesome, which featured their brilliant versions of many of the blues tracks that helped shape their sound, and topped album charts around the world. Last year, they thrilled European audiences totalling nearly a quarter of a million on the anniversary Sixty tour.

Hackney Diamonds marks The Stones (Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood) first collaboration with New York-born producer and musician Andrew Watt, who was named Producer of the Year at the 2021 GRAMMY® Awards and has worked with Post Malone, Iggy Pop and Elton John.The exhilarating “Angry” is accompanied by a music video directed by Francois Rousselet, whose credits include work with Nike, Diesel, Pharrell Williams, and on the Stones’ “Ride ‘Em On Down,” from Blue & Lonesome. Nirvana’s In Utero 30th Anniversary Multi-format Reissues Set To Be Released October 27

Geffen/UMe will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Nirvana‘s third and ultimately final studio album, IN UTERO, originally released on 21 September 1993, with several multi-format reissues, arriving on 27 October 2023.

Configurations include a limited-edition 8LP Super Deluxe box set, 5CD Super Deluxe box set, 1 LP + 10” edition, 2CD Deluxe edition, and a Digital Super Deluxe edition.

IN UTERO went on to mark Nirvana’s first #1 debut on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified 6x platinum in the United States.

The three Super Deluxe Edition releases comprise a total of 72 tracks with 53 previously unreleased tracks. Among the unreleased material, two full In Utero-era concerts, namely Live In Los Angeles (1993) and the band’s final Seattle performance, Live In Seattle (1994), are included in addition to six bonus live tracks from Rome, Springfield, and New York.

Seattle producer and engineer Jack Endino—who helmed the band’s 1988 debut Bleach—reconstructed the live tracks from stereo soundboard tapes for this year’s reissue.

Additionally, IN UTERO’s original twelve songs, along with five bonus tracks and B-sides, have been newly remastered from the original analog master stereo tapes by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Services—who assisted Albini as the only other engineer at the original sessions.

The physical Super Deluxe Edition box sets also boast a removable front-cover acrylic panel with the album’s iconic Angel; a 48-page hardcover book with unreleased photos; a 20-page newly designed fanzine; a Los Angeles tour poster lithograph by hot rod artist Coop; replicas of the 1993 record store promo Angel mobile, three gig fliers, two ticket stubs for Los Angeles and Seattle, an All-Access tour laminate, and four cloth sticky tour backstage passes: Press, Photo, After Show, and Local Crew.

Available exclusively at online stores at uDiscovermusic.com and SoundofVinyl.com and limited to 3000 units worldwide, fans who buy either Super Deluxe Edition will receive a Nirvana acrylic stand to display their angel-on-acrylic panel included in both boxset configurations.

Playing in both light and dark, sleekness and texture, Toronto-based anti-pop star and electronic dance music producer Wrené’s new album Metamorphosis unfolds as a seamless journey of self-acceptance, embracing the inevitability of constant change.

Created during the bleakest period of the COVID pandemic, Metamorphosis presents an expansive lost-in-space-and-time aesthetic, while, conversely, also providing the deep sense of intimacy that only a lot of time spent in the interiors of one’s own psyche can provide an artist.

From the aching “Deflect, Dissolve” to the ethereal title song “Metamorphosis,” each track presents as a fleeting moment in an overarching story, merging harmoniously and also offering a distinct sonic landscape and sensibility, creating an overall immersive experience for listeners. Metamorphosis was produced entirely with original recorded samples, and by creating textures with soft synths.

The album’s themes delve into stories of love, lust, sleeplessness, the yearning for completeness, and the human longing for true connection. “My music is a playground for escapists, rebels, and those who are interested in the abstract,” says Wrené. “I’m interested in hosting my mind as a wonderland for others to visit to get away from the pain, monotony, and meaninglessness of life.”

Just as her music challenges convention, Wrené will be appearing in Playboy in conjunction with Metamorphosis’ release. “Part of my aim as a female artist is to present myself unabashedly,” she asserts. “I stand for women expressing the multifacetedness of our own individual femininity. Though the feminine form is undoubtedly divine – and our beauty should be celebrated – we are so much more than our bodies.”

Wrene’s decision to participate in a Playboy photoshoot is her statement in the context of modern feminism, which emphasizes agency, empowerment, and the right to express one on their own terms. By choosing to pose for Playboy, Wrene is all about self-empowerment, emphasizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to feminism, and that women have the right to make choices about their bodies and their representation in media without judgment or shame.

This kind of freedom has always been important to Wrené in her art and as a woman. “I am extremely grateful to have the privilege and opportunity to be and to express myself without the fear of repression or consequence of violence,” she said. “The awareness of this fills me with liberation as I acknowledge my freedom to create and share art embodying the power of the sacred feminine.”

“In a society that has often silenced and marginalized women’s voices throughout history, the ability to express myself authentically is a gift I hold dear,” she continued. “It is a reminder of the progress we have made and a testament to the resilience of those who fought for the rights and freedoms we enjoy today.”

Through her unconventional song structure and experimentalism, Wrené mends the line between reality and surrealism in her work. A trifecta of unparalleled talent, Wrené is an actor, a poet, and a vocalist; the latter of which she is fluent in a multitude of singing techniques. Her creative flair for pushing genre boundaries and consistently infusing surrealism into her bodies of work pushes her to continually break ground on storytelling through song and performance. Each track she pens presents a story. And each story is told with the addition of foley sounds, original sounds, and subliminal messages.

Accomplished Los Angeles native and pop/R&B artist Z Chambers released his new song “Tightrope” this week. Featuring intriguingly melodic vocals paired with a mysteriously somber yet upbeat score, the artist delivers a poignant message sure to resonate with younger generations.

Z Chambers is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He discovered his love for art and music at an early age and began participating in talent shows. Inspired by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, Linkin Park, and Coldplay, Z started writing music and performing at local venues. After high school, he moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in music and attended Musicians Institute.

For Z Chambers, the metaphor is a representation of what it felt like to maintain any semblance of balance in his life as he struggled to keep things from falling apart.

“When I was writing Tightrope, I was in a difficult place,” said Z, who wrote the song for his upcoming EP along with a co-writer. “I felt like I had to walk on eggshells to avoid upsetting [anyone]. It was like a masquerade. I had to wear a different mask depending on who I was around. It was suffocating. I wanted to capture these feelings in a song.”

Tightrope is already receiving praise from fans on social media excited to see new music from the young artist.

Z continues to work on his new EP with his co-writer. Of this collaboration, he said, “Exchanging our thoughts on the song proved to be a fascinating experience, and I’m confident that many others have experienced something similar. The award-winning love song is an entreaty to couples to recognize the depth of their love, despite any surface difficulties. “‘The We, We Used to Be’ is a call to every couple who feels ‘there is no way back, time has changed us both,’ to find a way back to the days of being tangled up in sheets at 3 a.m.,” says Francine.

The song has struck a chord with listeners even prior to its official release, having won the 2023 Austin Songwriter’s Group International Songwriting Competition in the Love Songs and Folk/Americana categories, as well as second place in the Singer-Songwriter category. It also was a finalist in the Love Songs category in the 2022 United Kingdom Songwriting Contest.

It’s the song’s universality that makes it a winner, as well as its deep, heartfelt sincerity. “Every couple goes through the seasons in a relationship – people change, relationships change,” Francine explains. “I’ve experienced these ups and downs, as many of us have.”

“This song reflects the moment when you feel you’ve tried it all and you’re wondering if your love is strong enough to survive the challenges you are facing.” she continues. “You hope that you can come out of it, because ‘deep down I love you more than I did way back when.’”

During his appearance on Late Night with David Letterman in March of 1983, the legendary Jimmy Buffett graced the stage with his heartfelt acoustic renditions of “Distantly in Love” and “Come Monday.” Seated next to the affable host, Buffett shared a poignant anecdote about the latter song, which Letterman had requested he perform. With raw honesty, Buffett revealed, “This is ‘Come Monday’… it is a song that kept me from killing myself in the Howard Johnson’s in Marin County… well, it hit, and I paid the rent, got my dog out of the pound, and… I was deathly depressed too. I was in a Howard Johnson’s under Mount Tamalpais in Marin County and living there, playing in San Anselmo. It was awful, and I wrote this song, and it hit, and the rest is history.”
