South Coast of Kent emo rap, punk, and rock artist LostBoy steps forward with his new single “Don’t Cry,” out now on all streaming platforms. The track cuts deep, drawn from lived experience and shaped by his perspective as an autistic artist navigating anxiety, depression, psychosis, and the weight of being misunderstood. His songwriting is direct and unfiltered, turning personal struggle into something shared and powerful. “Don’t Cry” lands with emotional punch, offering connection instead of isolation and strength instead of silence. It is a bold statement from an emerging voice carving out his own lane.
Post-Punk Force False Figure Ignite With New Album ‘Incarnate’
Oakland, California-based post-punk band False Figure have released their new full-length album, ‘Incarnate’. The record moves with urgency and purpose, threading together themes that have defined the band’s legacy while pushing their sound forward. From the tense unraveling of toxic dynamics in “Favorite Game” to the stark reckoning of “Original Sin” and the explosive charge of “Say Nothing,” the album refuses to sit still. The flow is relentless. One track feeds the next. ‘Incarnate’ lands as a sharp, modern statement on what post-punk can be, cathartic, lived-in, and built for listeners who feel the weight of the world and want it soundtracked at full volume.

9 Artists With Instantly Recognizable Voices
You know that moment when a song comes on and you recognize the singer before the first full word is even out? Not because you’re a superfan. Not because you memorized the liner notes. It’s just instinct. Their voice hits your ears and your brain goes, “Oh. It’s them.”
That kind of vocal identity is rare. In a world full of studio polish and vocal filters, some artists still sound unmistakably like themselves. Here are 9 of them, whose voices are so distinct they could show up unannounced on a track and you’d still call it in one note.
Adele
There’s weight in Adele’s voice. Not just power, but emotional gravity. She leans into a lyric and it stays leaned.
“Rolling in the Deep” has that sharp edge and controlled fire. “Someone Like You” is pure, exposed heartbreak. And “Hello” proved she can take a single word and make it feel like a worldwide confession.
Bob Dylan
Technically perfect? No. Instantly recognizable? Absolutely.
That nasal phrasing, the conversational delivery, the way he bends a line like it’s optional. “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and “Tangled Up in Blue” don’t work without that voice. Anyone else singing them just sounds like they’re covering him.
Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury didn’t just sing. He attacked songs.
There’s theatrical control in “Bohemian Rhapsody,” raw propulsion in “We Will Rock You,” and pure vocal lift-off in “Somebody to Love.” He could go from rock snarl to operatic soar in a breath, and you’d believe every second of it.
Janis Joplin
Janis Joplin sounded like she’d lived three lifetimes before breakfast.
That rasp wasn’t polished. It was torn, frayed, and completely honest. “Piece of My Heart,” “Cry Baby,” and “Me and Bobby McGee” feel less like performances and more like emotional detonations.
Michael Jackson
Even as a kid, you knew it was him.
That bright tone, the hiccups, the gasps, the rhythmic precision. “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” and “Man in the Mirror” are masterclasses in phrasing. Nobody punctuates a groove like Michael Jackson.
Robert Plant
Robert Plant’s voice helped define what a rock frontman should sound like.
High, wailing, a little mystical, a little dangerous. “Whole Lotta Love,” “Stairway to Heaven,” and “Kashmir” only work because he sounds like he’s summoning something ancient and loud.
Stevie Nicks
Stevie Nicks doesn’t sing straight lines. She floats them.
That smoky, slightly husky tone wrapped in vibrato is unmistakable. “Rhiannon,” “Dreams,” and “Edge of Seventeen” feel like stories told around a candle, even when the band is at full volume.
Tom Waits
Tom Waits sounds like gravel arguing with a whiskey bottle.
It shouldn’t work. But it does. “Downtown Train,” “Tom Traubert’s Blues,” and “Chocolate Jesus” are proof that character can matter more than clarity. You don’t mistake that voice for anyone else’s. Ever.
Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston had precision and power in equal measure.
That clean, controlled belt in “I Will Always Love You,” the bounce of “How Will I Know,” the effortless glide of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” She made difficult vocals sound easy, and she made easy lines sound monumental.
Liverpool Skiffle Pioneer Len Garry Of The Quarrymen Dies At 84
Len Garry, Liverpool skiffle musician and early member of The Quarrymen, has died at 84. Before the world knew The Beatles, Garry stood shoulder to shoulder with John Lennon and Paul McCartney, holding down the tea-chest bass as the group carved out its first sound. His story sits at the ignition point of modern rock.
Born January 6, 1942, in Wavertree, Liverpool, Garry met McCartney at Liverpool Institute High School for Boys and joined The Quarrymen in 1956. He performed at the band’s first Cavern Club booking in 1957 and at St. Peter’s Church on July 6, 1957, the afternoon Lennon and McCartney first connected. That moment reshaped popular music.
Garry remained with the group until August 1958, when tubercular meningitis forced him into hospital for seven months. His departure came just before the band recorded “That’ll Be the Day” and “In Spite of All the Danger.” Even so, his imprint on the earliest line-up remains permanent.
Beyond The Quarrymen, Garry built a life in architecture and later fronted the touring rock gospel musical “Come Together,” launched in America by Pat Boone. Music stayed central. The stage kept calling. The connection to those early Liverpool days never faded.
In 1997, he reunited with surviving Quarrymen members and returned to recording and touring. The band released ‘Get Back – Together’ (1997), ‘Songs We Remember’ (2004), and ‘Grey Album’ (2012), revisiting the skiffle and rock and roll roots that sparked a revolution. The energy felt immediate and alive.
Garry also told his own story in the 1997 memoir ‘John, Paul & Me: Before the Beatles.’ The book documents schoolyard friendships, early rehearsals, and the night McCartney met Lennon from an insider’s view. It stands as a vivid record of the moment rock history began to move.
LSU-Born Rock Band The Bends Launch New Chapter With “Tango”
Emerging from late-night jam sessions at LSU, rising rock outfit The Bends return with their new single “Tango,” out now via Warner Records. The track follows “Lips” and signals a fresh chapter for the Baton Rouge quartet. Written after a reflective phone call with someone from his past, frontman Hayden Field describes “Tango” as a meditation on reconnecting and navigating the emotional distance that time can create.
The band’s 2025 EP ‘Leeward Drive’ further cemented their momentum, highlighted by “Virginia,” co-written with Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra. Expanding beyond Louisiana, the group caught the attention of Brad Shultz of Cage the Elephant, who stepped in to produce “The Fence.” Blending textured vocals with garage rock energy inspired by The Strokes and Kings of Leon, The Bends continue to build a rapidly growing fanbase drawn to both their recordings and their electric live performances.
Following recent headline shows, the band will hit the road supporting Houndmouth and Ole 60, alongside festival appearances this spring and summer. With “Tango” setting the tone, The Bends are leaning into their college-town roots while pushing confidently toward a national breakout.

Scottish Filmmaker David Arthur Directs Poignant Short for Songraes’ “Wind”
Award-winning Scottish filmmaker David Arthur directs a striking new short film for “Wind,” the latest track from Hamburg-based trio Songraes, featured on their EP ‘Distance’ via Sotones Records. Conceived as a self-contained narrative work, the film uses the song as its emotional anchor, exploring memory, movement, and the fragile boundary between past and present. Set against the windswept backdrop of Troon on Scotland’s west coast, the seaside landscape becomes both literal setting and symbolic terrain.
“Wind” began as a delicate instrumental by Hannes Klock before lyrics from Leo Bruges shaped its themes of isolation, loneliness, and fleeting hope. Anja McCloskey expanded the atmosphere with textured accordion, while strings from Davis West deepened its cinematic scope. Arthur’s film stars acclaimed actor David Hayman as an elderly man navigating recollection and longing, with Elysia Welch appearing as a memory drifting in and out of his world. Arthur, whose credits include editing work on “Outlander” and Sundance winner “God Help the Girl,” brings a restrained, emotionally rhythmic approach that invites interpretation rather than explanation.
Inspired by his own father’s experience with dementia, Arthur infused the project with personal resonance. Filmed shortly before his father’s passing, the finished piece carries added emotional weight. With ‘Distance’ blending analogue warmth and rare instrumentation, Songraes pair the release with support for Spirit Aid, the charity founded by Hayman. The collaboration stands as both a cinematic meditation on memory and a meaningful gesture of awareness and support.

New Found Glory Return With ‘Listen Up!’
Pop punk favorites New Found Glory are back with ‘Listen Up!,’ their first full-length album in nearly six years. Out now via Pure Noise Records, the record delivers a high-energy set of songs centered on resilience and hope. The album includes recent singles “Beer and Blood Stains,” “Treat Yourself,” “Laugh It Off,” and the latest release, “A Love Song,” marking a confident new chapter for the longtime scene staples.
This spring, the band joins Yellowcard on the extended The Up Up Down Down Tour, with special guests Plain White T’s. The 27-date run spans major markets across North America, following a festival appearance at Hammersonic in Indonesia and additional stops at Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival and Vans Warped Tour dates in Mexico City and Orlando later this year.
With ‘Listen Up!’ now out and a packed tour calendar ahead, New Found Glory reaffirm their place at the heart of pop punk, blending longtime fan favorites with a fresh wave of anthems built for singalongs and sweaty summer stages.
