Excision Announces ‘Nexus’ Tour

0

Today, DJ and producer Excision announced his upcoming Nexus tour. Produced by Live Nation and Insomniac, the tour kicks off on December 22, 2023 in Chicago at Navy Pier, with stops across North America in San Francisco, Austin, Toronto, Vancouver, Boston and more before wrapping up in Dallas. The tour also features the return of Excision’s branded doubleheaders Thunderdome in Seattle, High Roller in Las Vegas, Armory in Minneapolis and Mile High in Denver.

“This is the biggest tour we’ve ever done, with over 50 dates, massive production, and an incredibly talented mix of artists joining us on every stop. I can’t wait to be able to reveal more. I’m excited to see all the Headbangers in their hometowns!” – Jeff Abel (Excision)

The tour follows Excision’s latest release “Bass To The Dome,” with Sullivan King which was released on August 25 via his label, Subsidia Records, marking his 7th track release of 2023. Notably, Excision just wrapped his 5th annual Bass Canyon Festival at The Gorge Amphitheatre, sold-out 3 nights at Paradise Blue Festival in Cancun, and played two massive sets at EDC Las Vegas for packed crowds at circuitGROUNDS and bassPOD Stages.

Imagine a world consumed by all-powerful bass driven rhythm and colossal seismic frequencies. Sounds of dystopian, futuristic worlds envelop the senses and control the movements of your body as the spectacular audiovisual experience of an Excision show takes hold. The stage shatters worlds with massive stacks of soul-shaking subwoofers, streams of mind-blowing lasers painting entire stadiums, flashes of multicolor lights, immersive visuals transporting you to other dimensions, and as much flame and pyrotechnics as you can fit into a performance.

In 2024, Excision will embark on his biggest, most ambitious tour yet, Nexus, bringing his signature bass music and cutting-edge stage technology all across North America. For the first time, fans in every city will be getting the full Excision concert experience.

DJ, producer and festival creator Excision (Jeff Abel) resides at the epicenter of an ever-expanding realm of the Bass Music genre. Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia, Abel is a pioneer of the North American Dubstep scene with over 17 years of relentless touring, cultivating a huge, passionate community at shows and festivals around the world. His expansive discography traverses a wide range of bass sounds across five full-length studio albums, countless EPs and singles, 17 annual fan-favorite mixes and numerous live recordings, amassing well over 2 billion streams globally.

Under his event production arm Excision Presents, he has created world-renowned music festivals like the prehistoric juggernaut Lost Lands, breathtaking Bass Canyon, beach resort fest Paradise Blue, and major regional concerts like The Thunderdome of Seattle, The Armory in Minneapolis, Mile High in Denver, The Stadium in Los Angeles and more. These branded events combine to bring out hundreds of thousands of headbangers each year. Broader audiences can also catch Excision headlining at legendary festivals such as EDC Las Vegas, Ultra, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo and Shambhala.

On the recording side, Excision founded Subsidia Records in 2020 as a followup to his previous imprint Rottun Recordings. Subsidia continues to release groundbreaking tunes from emerging artists with a goal of celebrating and pushing forward the wide breadth of subgenres that culminate in bass music. The label has provided release opportunities for over 100 producers, introducing them to new fans and fostering their continued growth as artists.

Excision’s influence can be felt in every facet of the industry. Though he has already established a legendary brand, he is continually striving to help the community grow. Last year, he launched the Bass Music Initiative which sponsored ten up-and-coming bass artists with funds and support to help them advance in their music careers. He says, “Everything I do is focused around the mission of helping Bass Music grow, while still staying true to itself. We have such a caring and loving group of people involved within this scene, and I hope the music will help more people find their home within it.”

The trek also includes a stop at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden on March 22, 2024.

The news follows the August 6 conclusion of So Much For (Tour) Dust’s initial North American run, which kicked off June 21 with a sold out, epic hometown show at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL and was dubbed “the loudest concert Wrigley’s ever had” by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Each show also included the use of a Magic 8 Ball to surprise fans with a performance of a Fall Out Boy song that had never played live before, which became one of the most buzzed about topics of the summer, igniting fans across social media – and spawning a trend on TikTok, with hundreds of thousands of views – to determine what songs might be coming next.

So Much For (Tour) Dust has proven to be another career display of Fall Out Boy’s undeniable and renowned live performance prowess, featuring multiple sold-out dates; four stadiums shows (Fenway Park in Boston, Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, two nights at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles); special guests (Mikey Way in San Diego, Travie McCoy in Queens); unforgettable  production, visual effects and pyrotechnics.

The UK and European leg of So Much For (Tour) Dust kicks off October 17 in Warsaw, Poland and concludes November 8 in Berlin, Germany, with multiple dates (Munich, Paris, Amsterdam, Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff) already sold out. The band will continue performing for fans around the world this year with a recently announced December 6 date in Bangkok as well as multiple cities (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane) across Australia as part of the Good Things Festival from December 1-3. In August, the band performed at Summer Sonic in both Tokyo and Osaka

So Much For (2our) Dust is in support of Fall Out Boy’s most recent, critically acclaimed 8th studio album So Much (For) Stardust, which debuted as the No. 1 rock album upon its March 24 release on Fueled By Ramen/Elektra/DCD2 Records and features the global smash single “Love From The Other Side.”

The album has also garnered Fall Out Boy two current nominations for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards – Best Alternative (“Hold Me Like A Grudge”) and Best Visual Effects (“Love From The Other Side”).

Additionally, the band currently stars in NBC Sports’ B1G Saturday Night show open this season. The show open – with a chorus of “Here Comes Saturday Night” – debuted on September 2 ahead of the season-opening West Virginia-Penn State game. Fall Out Boy also headlines the NBC Sports and Peacock Big Ten Football promotional campaign, appearing across NBCUniversal platforms throughout the summer and fall.

National Music Centre to Present Panel of Indigenous Voices on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

0

The National Music Centre (NMC) will open Studio Bell with free admission on September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As part of this important day of dialogue and understanding, NMC will present a discussion at 1:00 pm on the power of music for reconciliation, hosted by David McLeod, curator of the National Music Centre’s Speak Up! exhibition. The event will also be livestreamed on amplify.nmc.ca.

Joining the panel are Cree artist Fawn Wood, recipient of the first JUNO Award for Traditional Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year in 2022 and one of latest artists to be featured in the Speak Up! exhibition; néhiyaw rapper, educator and activist Eekwol, who uses her voice to spread messages of resistance, revolution and keeping the language, land, and culture alive for future generations; and Calgary-based Métis artist Shane Ghostkeeper, founder of the band Ghostkeeper, whose most recent solo album, Songs for My People, is a reverential tribute to the music he absorbed while growing up in Northern Alberta Métis communities.

Visitors to Studio Bell are also encouraged to check out the recently updated Speak Up! exhibition, which is supported by TD Bank Group. The exhibition recognizes powerful Indigenous voices in music, including recently added artists Tom Jackson, Elisapie, Ferron, Fawn Wood, and Drezus. Featuring storytelling, audio, and artifacts, visitors to Speak Up! can learn how Indigenous artists are fostering dialogue and understanding to radically shift the Canadian paradigm of who First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people are.

“Music has an ability as a universal language to bring people together and share stories, and hopefully bridge reconciliation and foster understanding that can break down stereotypes and misconceptions,” said David McLeod (member of the Pine Creek First Nation), Curator of Speak Up, NMC Board Member, and Chair of NMC’s National Indigenous Programming Advisory Committee. “Through this panel and exhibition, we ultimately hope to promote healing, understanding, and empowerment, which can break down barriers and build relationships; this ultimately promotes reconciliation at both an individual and collective level.”

Bose Announces New QuietComfort Ultra Headphones And Earbuds With Bose Immersive Audio For The Most Realistic Sound Ever

0

Today, Bose announces the next generation of its iconic QuietComfort line: the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, and the QuietComfort Headphones, all featuring the world-renowned hallmarks that the QuietComfort name has become synonymous with — world-class noise cancellation, high-quality audio, and legendary comfort and stability. And now, the QC Ultra Headphones and Earbuds both feature an all-new premium design and debut Bose Immersive Audio, taking audio performance to an entirely new level.

The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds will be available beginning early October for $429 and $299 respectively. Both are available in Black and White Smoke. The QuietComfort Headphones will be available on September 21st for $349 also available in Black and White Smoke, plus a limited-edition Cypress Green. Pre-orders for all products begin today in the U.S. on Bose.com.

“We know that listening to music is a deeply personal experience — what you listen to, when and where you listen, and the emotion it has the power to evoke,” said Raza Haider, Chief Product Officer for Bose. “The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and Earbuds with Bose Immersive Audio won’t disappoint. The lifelike listening experience, superior noise cancellation performance, and modern design truly make both products the ultimate companion for any music lover.”

Bose Immersive Audio goes beyond special effects. It creates a wider, more spacious soundstage so your content becomes multi-dimensional and layered, regardless of the audio platform or device — making spatial audio accessible to all. It will bring you closer than ever by virtually seating you right in the acoustic sweet spot. Traditionally, when listening to recorded content through headphones, the soundstage is collapsed into your head between your ears. Bose Immersive Audio reveals its true depth, spatializing what you’re hearing by virtually placing it in front of you. This effect is enabled by an onboard IMU and newly developed, proprietary Bose digital signal processing software in the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and Earbuds.

There are two options for listening to Bose Immersive Audio: “Still” or “Motion.” “Still” is best when you’re not moving because the audio stays in place — perfect for when you’re sitting down and want to feel as if the sound is fixed in a specific position. “Motion” allows the audio to move with you, so it’s always out in front of you — great for staying immersed on the go.

Replacing the Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 as the brand’s flagship banded headphone, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones offer a powerful combination of Bose Immersive Audio, world-class noise cancellation, and CustomTune audio calibration for unmatched performance from an over-ear headphone. Bose Immersive Audio and CustomTune technology work together to deliver enveloping sound that’s fully optimized to your ears.

A completely re-engineered system includes proprietary signal processing, a robust chip set, and advanced microphones. All of this innovation not only enables improved noise cancellation and CustomTune technology, but it also supports Bose Aware Mode with ActiveSense, and remarkable voice pickup. Using a beamform-array to differentiate your voice from 360 degrees of unwanted nearby sound, the QC Ultra Headphones deliver crystal clear calls to friends and family, clients and coworkers, and stunning accuracy from VPAs for seamless convenience when summoning playlists, texts, or directions.

The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones feature a modern, more premium design. Minimal seams and part splits convey a sleek overall appearance, while still allowing the Ultra Headphones to fold flat into a compact storage case.

Intuitive physical controls make the headphones easy to use. The right earcup is home to three controls: a power/Bluetooth pairing button, a capacitive touch strip for volume control and shortcut access, and a multifunction button for toggling between listening modes, answering or ending calls, and content playback control. The left earcup includes an LED indicator, 2.5 mm jack, and a USB-C charging port. The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones offer up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge while Bose Immersive Audio is turned off, and up to 18 hours when Immersive Audio is turned on.

The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds replace the award-winning QC Earbuds II and continue to offer world-class noise cancellation, CustomTune sound calibration technology, responsive touch controls, and an IPX4 rating — and now they offer improved far-end call quality. With the support of dynamic microphone mixing and adaptive filters, voice pickup is more intelligible in less-than-ideal environments. These technologies work together in real time to determine and prioritize which microphone on each bud is experiencing the least wind noise, and selecting from a variety of noise filters so your voice presents more clearly to those you’re calling.

The Ultra Earbud’s design has also been refreshed to incorporate a new metallic treatment for a sleeker, more luxe look. The earbuds’ stability bands also feature an improved, interlocking fit on the buds to help ensure they are mounted correctly, delivering optimal comfort, stability, and performance.

The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds offer up to six hours of battery life on a single charge while Bose Immersive Audio is turned off, and up to four hours when Immersive Audio is turned on. An optional new wireless charging case cover is also now available and is compatible with both the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and their predecessor, QC Earbuds II. Available for $49 on Bose.com beginning October 20th, the silicone case cover easily slips on the existing charging case to enable wireless charging.

Rounding out the new headphone portfolio are the Bose QuietComfort Headphones, which will replace the QuietComfort 45 Headphones. Offering powerful high-fidelity audio paired with legendary noise cancellation, the QC Headphones now offer the ability to adjust noise cancellation levels and set custom modes. For wireless listening, they offer multipoint Bluetooth 5.1 capability and up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge via USB-C.

An audio cable with in-line mic is also included for wired listening or communication. Spotify Tap is also supported to start your listening session at the push of a button.

Both the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds feature Snapdragon Sound™ Technology Suite, enabling support for the latest Qualcomm® aptX Adaptive codec for audio streaming — including lossless and low latency capabilities. Snapdragon Sound also allows for more seamless and robust connectivity with premium Android devices. The Ultra Headphones and Ultra Earbuds also layer on Google Fast Pair for added ease-of-use when pairing Android devices and are both Bluetooth 5.3 compatible.

All three new QuietComfort products are compatible with Bose SimpleSync technology. SimpleSync allows you to pair Bose QuietComfort noise cancelling headphones with select smart soundbars and speakers for a personal listening experience. Independent volume controls allow you to lower or mute the soundbar while keeping the Bluetooth headphones as loud as necessary.

The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, and QuietComfort Headphones work with a mobile device’s built-in voice assistant and use the Bose Music app for additional features like shortcut settings, listening modes, and adjustable EQ. The Bose Music app is also used to release software updates for new features and benefits that may become available in the future.

Gnarly Head Wines And The Grateful Dead Release Limited-Edition Cabernet Sauvignon And Zinfandel

0

American Deadheads who can’t get enough of their favorite rock band now have two new wines from Gnarly Head that offer a fun way to toast the Grateful Dead and keep the vibes flowing. Back by popular demand following last fall’s successful launch, Gnarly Head wines and the Grateful Dead today announced the release of two limited-edition vintages—a gnarly Old Vine Zinfandel and a Cabernet Sauvignon—that bring two of the band’s most-loved and iconic graphics to life in stunning labels that glow under black light.

The Limited-Edition 2021 Gnarly Head x Grateful Dead Old Vine Zinfandel and Limited-Edition 2021 Gnarly Head x Grateful Dead Cabernet Sauvignon will be available at major retailers and specialty liquor stores nationwide beginning in September, at a suggested retail price of $12. The Limited-Edition Old Vine Zinfandel features the Dead’s lovable, dancing bears with a new glow-under-blacklight design that gives the smiling bears a whole new life. Originating from the back cover art on the band’s 1973 album “History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear’s Choice)”, the bears celebrate their 50th anniversary this year. The Limited-Edition Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the Grateful Dead’s emblematic “Steal Your Face” design, illuminating the skull with swirling lines that look even cooler when glowing under black light.

Grateful Dead archivist and legacy manager, David Lemieux, notes, “The Grateful Dead experience has always been one-of-a-kind, so it’s fitting to partner again with Gnarly Head Wines to create one-of-a-kind wine bottles. The music of The Grateful Dead has always invoked connection and authenticity rooted in passion and creativity, much like the California wines crafted by Gnarly Head. We hope to continue to inspire existing and new fans alike to jam out and rejoice in some great music and wine.”

Perfect for gift giving, entertaining or simply enjoying with good tunes, both new wines (SRP $12 each) will be available at major retailers nationwide including Albertsons, Safeway, Publix, Kroger, Harris Teeter, Winn-Dixie, Total Wine & More, Food Lion, Market Basket, HEB and Fred Meyer beginning in September, while supplies last.
