Argentinian Singer-Songwriter Fiona Montt Releases Hypnotic New Pop Song “C’est La Vie”

0

Fiona Montt, the emerging Argentinian vocalist and songwriter, has released her new track, “C’est La Vie.”

Though the upbeat pop anthem sounds made for the dance floor, “C’est La Vie” was inspired by the isolation of COVID. Montt describes music as “what I breathe…what I live for.” And during difficult times like the pandemic, she says it provides a much-needed escape.

Montt has been recognized for her singing from an early age. Her elementary and high school music teachers encouraged the talent, forming a band in which she performed lead vocals. When Montt was chosen as a finalist in a citywide school music competition in Buenos Aires, she decided singing wasn’t just a hobby for her – it was a profession.

Then, the pandemic hit. Separated from her family during the long months of strict lockdowns in her native Argentina, Montt found a lifeline when she turned to the web to connect with others through music.

“We had an extreme quarantine, six months closed up in our homes, which made me make videos, covers, use social media, meet a lot of people, participate with different singers and composers from different parts of the entire world,” Montt says.

Montt started sharing videos of herself singing covers of music by artists like Joss Stone and Dua Lipa, showcasing her vocal talent. She would eventually connect with Roy Hamilton III, multi-platinum Grammy nominated pop and R&B music producer, songwriter and A&R executive with the Singer’s Company Inc. Hamilton, the grandson of legendary singer Roy Hamilton, encouraged Montt to hone her songwriting skills, and “C’est La Vie” was born.

The single highlights Montt’s powerful but sultry voice over dance beats, percussion, keys and horns in the style of a radio pop hit. But a note of sadness in Montt’s singing, in both English and French, pulls the listener in closer. Contrasting with the catchy rhythm, the lyrics tell a more somber story about the search for connection at a time when it seemed like the entire world felt alone.

“All this time, when you used to look my way, my tears went down like a river goes, somewhere too far away to reach me when I need you,” Montt sings.

A note of strength emerges in Montt’s lyrics as well, showing her willingness to go with the flow during uncertain times. “Maybe I’ll make some mistakes now, can’t avoid them really, c’est la vie!” she sings.

“‘C’est La vie’ is about events that we have in life, whether we like them or not. We just have to live with it,” Montt says. “It’s about staying strong even though things might not go your way. It’s about staying positive always, and to believe in yourself.”

Vancouver Rapper BLAK ACE Releases New Single “Blak Majik”

0

Vancouver-based rapper BLAK ACE has created a whirlwind of swagger and confidence in his new single “Blak Majik”. Written by himself BLAK ACE and the beat was produced alongside by DJ KEMO, the song was recorded at Vanguard Music Studios.

Most notably, the track features a fusion of jazzy horns and a steady hip-hop backbeat that compliments BLAK ACE’s resolute rap delivery. Lyrically, the song discusses the personal obstacles that BLAK ACE has overcome in order to get to where he is now, before discussing broader issues that affect people’s drive.

“Everyday expedition paid my tuition
I didn’t pass math, but my art was pimpin’
Self-expression they say that we lack
I make them take those words back
When I spit these raps”

Another thing that the lyrics convey is passion, evoking the braggadocio and positivity found in songs like Nas’ “I Can” and “The World Is Yours”. The song takes the passion of hip-hop and uses it as a vehicle to inspire others to pursue their own dreams.

By moving from BLAK ACE’s personal experiences to wider ones, the song aims to connect with a universal audience. The vibe and energy of this record ebbs and flows, magnetically drawing in the audience for more.

Of the song’s production, BLAK ACE states, “DJ KEMO is a top tier producer, his engineering and musical knowledge of beat mixing makes the music sound flawless. The sound quality from DJ KEMO’s production makes me sound commercial and radio ready. I’m excited to make more music and look forward to the reception of BLAK MAJIK worldwide.”

BLAK ACE got his start with his debut video “My Passion”, which features him showcasing his music to his Vancouver hometown. He then went on to open for well-known hip-hop artists such as E-40, Jadakiss and Fabolous. In 2017, BLAK ACE would embark on his own concert tour “Angelz and Demonz” and perform throughout the British Columbia and Alberta before ending the tour in his hometown.

In addition to pursuing music, he would also develop his own clothing line called BLAK G3AR. BLAK G3AR received immense support from fans and musicians through his lucrative “Body Positive” merchandise campaign and rap artist driven competition “The Transducer.” BLAK ACE most recent music work is the 2019 EP “BLAK SOULZ”.

Singer-Songwriter And Activist Danny Lamb Is On A Mission To Make The World A Better Place In “Unique 2 Yourself”

0

Niagara Falls, ON’s singer-songwriter and activist Danny Lamb is on a mission to make the world a better place for all. His latest effort is an anthemic blast of pure positivity called “Unique 2 Yourself.” It’s a reminder to follow your heart, to stay true to yourself, and to be patient with the process that it takes to discover your true, best self.

Growing up amongst the vineyards and wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Lamb couldn’t help but be inspired by the lengthy journey it takes, from farm to table, for a wine to fully develop to its fullest potential.

“Cuz like wine gets better with age,” Lamb sings, “can’t be rushed, so stay inspired, in time, the world gets lighter, don’t lose your love in the face of a pressure, to be like everyone else.”

“Unique 2 Yourself” was written by Danny and produced, mixed and mastered by Toronto-based guitarist Tal Vaisman. It’s a big-sounding, inspirational message to believe in yourself, pursue your dreams and fall in love with the process of getting there.

“From the day that we’re born, the world tells us who to be,” Lamb says. “It can be tough, especially as you get older, to hold onto the childlike wonder, optimism, and some of the shameless idealism that lives inside of having big dreams, goals and ambitions.”

Danny Lamb is, himself, a shameless idealist.

Born with a spinal cord condition known as Spina Bifida Occulta, and diagnosed with a Brain condition, known as Hydrocephalus, at 3 years old, he is no stranger to overcoming obstacles in life, and credits the positive influence of his family for showing him that he didn’t need to be defined by that part of his story.

When he was about 18-years-old Lamb became an ambassador for Hydrocephalus Canada. While attending a global conference in Sweden he developed the idea for a project called A Song, A City. That project took him from Dublin, Ireland to Peterborough, England, then on to Glasgow and Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Brussels and finally, Izmir, Turkey, writing a song in each of the seven locations.

Since then, he has continued his advocacy work for spina bifida and hydrocephalus associations, hosting the PUSH (People United for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus) podcast as well as two PUSH worldwide livestreams.

Through PUSH and at his home studio in Niagara Falls, Canada, he works with musicians both young and old from around the world, encouraging them to find their own unique creativity.

And A Song, A City continues to work alongside people around the world, using the power of music, and a song, to tell a story, build confidence, communicate a message, and amplify voices through the power of music, and art.

Taking his influences from the likes of Imagine Dragons, Coldplay and U2, his own music with his loose collective is big-sounding, joyful and optimistic. Lamb truly believes in the power of music to create change, and to bring out the best in people’s lives, in their community, and in the world.

As he sings in “Unique 2 Yourself” – “Just believe you’re enough/And don’t ever stop/Seeing a world full of possibilities.”

Disney+ announced today the four-part docuseries “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All,” in which Emmy Award-winning producers at Fulwell 73 Productions (“Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium “Adele: One Night Only,” ”The GRAMMY Awards”) will take viewers on a journey around the world spotlighting how an unlikely child with a stutter rose to fame to become one of the biggest global music superstars and how his chart-topping hits were born. “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All,” from Disney Branded Television, is set to premiere globally Wednesday, May 3, on Disney+.

For the first time, global superstar Ed Sheeran opens the doors to a definitive and searingly honest view into his private life as he explores the universal themes that inspire his music. This series follows Ed after he learns of life-changing news and reveals his hardships and triumphs during the most challenging period of his life. Blending exclusive, never-before-seen personal archive, present-day actuality, authentic interviews with his wife and loved ones, and intimate performances in cinematic locations, the series widens the lens to unearth what Sheeran thinks of the world, of himself and his music, as well as showcases a decade of hits enjoyed by subscribers around the world.

Throughout his long, successful career, Sheeran has inspired multiple generations of adults, families and kids across the globe with his chart-topping music and intimate storytelling in his songs. In each episode, Ed faces themes and emotions that most people experience. Ed expresses his deeper thoughts as he reassesses life, and how this difficult time has influenced him and his new music. Ed’s upcoming sixth studio album, “ – ” (pronounced “Subtract”), is set to be released on Friday, May 5, through Atlantic in the US, Atlantic/Asylum Records in the UK and Atlantic/Warner Music in the rest of world, with the lead single “Eyes Closed” arriving this Friday, March 24.

“In this docu-series, we’re going to reveal a side of Ed Sheeran that fans have never seen before,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “Together with Fulwell 73, we’ve created something truly authentic and personal that will not only entertain audiences but also inspire them to dream big and pursue their passions.”

“I’ve always been very guarded in my personal and private life; the only documentary I’ve ever made has been one that focused on my songwriting,” said Sheeran. “Disney approached me to make a four-part documentary, and it felt like the right time to open the door and let people in. I hope people enjoy it.”

“Everyone in the world knows and loves Ed Sheeran’s songs, as he has been the soundtrack to so many moments of our lives,” said Fulwell 73 partners Ben Turner and Ben Winston in a joint statement. “But this series of films shows the true man behind the hits, showing Ed in an entirely different way after a tumultuous year personally and professionally. This four-part series has been an honor for us to make.”

Episodes include the following:

“Love”
Ed Sheeran explains the unwavering work ethic that has driven his global success. With exclusive footage of his teenage years, Ed describes how he planned his unlikely success. When he was ignored by the music industry he started to play in unexpected settings until this determination brought him into contact with media entrepreneur Jamal Edwards in 2010. Together, they used the burgeoning internet to find their audience. “The A Team” breaks America but for Ed something was still missing. Ed shares the story behind his iconic love song, “Perfect” about his old school friend and now wife Cherry which tells of their romantic love story. Ed seems to have everything, until Cherry gets life altering news and Ed quickly realizes that plans can change in an instant and he will have to adapt.

“Loss”
Ed, his parents, and wife Cherry look at old photos of Ed and explain why he decided to return to live in his English hometown. With unseen footage of Ed’s Divide Tour, Ed introduces his tight fortress of trusted friends that keep him anchored. Then, the unthinkable happens. Ed’s best friend, Jamal Edwards suddenly dies. Ed struggles through a memorial for Jamal as he considers Jamal’s legacy. Ed meditates on the meaning of friendship and, using music as therapy, dives deep into work. During Ed’s 5-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium, British artist, Stormzy, joins Ed on stage in an epic performance before a smaller, surprise gig in his hometown. In a rousing homecoming singalong, Ed sings the iconic “Thinking Out Loud” to shocked locals looking on.

“Focus”
Ed shows his songwriting talents in exclusive archival footage showing the inception of one of his biggest hits, “Bad Habits.” Ed explains the origin story of writing “Eyes Closed” in 2018, through to its latest heartfelt version. After a turbulent year, Ed’s able to channel his emotions, and pours himself into completing his 5-album masterplan with Subtract, which has eluded him for over a decade. Mourning the loss of Jamal, Ed continues at pace, filming 14 music videos for his new album and has his childhood dream come true when he performs with Eminem at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, but Cherry worries he may be using work as a distraction. In an intimate performance, Ed publicly shares songs from Subtract for the first time but is overwhelmed when his emotions get the better of him.

“Balance”
In the final episode, Ed jets off to America to promote his tour. Both Ed and Cherry reflect on how they manage the challenges of balancing family life and work when they are regularly miles apart. Reunited at their home, Cherry explains how much of a shift she has seen in Ed over the last year. Ed meets up with friend and fellow British artist, Stormzy, to share his apprehensions of releasing his most personal thoughts into the world with Subtract. In a tribute to Jamal, Ed writes a beat for his “F64” rap about their friendship for an intimate performance at Chelsea FC’s home ground, Stamford Bridge. After some good news about Cherry’s health, she and Ed reflect on all the hardships and triumphs over the last year and look towards the future having a more cherished outlook on life.

Coming soon, Laugh Out Loud Radio will also exclusively release the late comedian Bernie Mac’s first-ever solo full-length stand-up album. Early in his career, Mac used to watch a VHS tape of his shows in order to review and fine-tune his stand-up. Soon available as a remastered collection, Bernie Mac: Tapes From A King, will provide a unique window into the creative process of a comedy legend. The album was produced by Hartbeat in collaboration with NBW Films and Rhonda R. McCullough, Bernie Mac’s beloved wife of 31 years. The album will be heard exclusively on Laugh Out Loud Radio for one month before being released wide across all streaming platforms.
