Tears For Fears’ multi-platinum-selling second album, Songs From The Big Chair, has been reissued in multiple formats and is available now, marking its 40th anniversary and celebrating its enduring impact and available here. Originally released on February 25, 1985, Songs From The Big Chair became a global sensation, topping the US charts and spawning five hit singles: “Mothers Talk,” “Shout,” “Everybody Wants To Rule The World,” “Head Over Heels,” and “I Believe.” The album captured a perfect intersection of pop accessibility, sharp lyricism, guitar power, and new-wave innovation.

To mark its Ruby Anniversary, UMe has unveiled a range of special editions, including a limited-edition 2LP Transparent Red vinyl featuring the original unused artwork and tracks previously unavailable on vinyl, a 3CD deluxe set, a limited-edition 1LP Coke Bottle Clear vinyl, and a limited-edition 1LP picture disc.

The album’s influence cannot be underestimated and continues to resonate with new audiences. Everybody Wants To Rule The World has been covered by Lorde for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and featured in Guardians of the Galaxy (as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind ride at Walt Disney World), Despicable Me 4, and The Lego Batman Movie, among many others.

Formed in Bath in 1981, Tears For Fears—Roland Orzabal (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Curt Smith (vocals, bass, keyboards)—have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. In 2021, they were honored with the Outstanding Song Collection Award at the Ivor Novello Awards. Today, the band continues to perform to sold-out audiences around the globe, including their Las Vegas residency.

Norwich born, London based indie-rock newcomers Chest just dropped “NUMB” and announced their ‘never really here’ EP arriving early 2026. Working with producer Thomas Coath (Sam Fender, Pale Waves), the single channels Sunny Day Real Estate and Placebo through waves of serrated guitars and pounding drums capturing the hollow quiet of dissociation. Vocalist Joel Reader delivers raw, unfiltered lines like “I had the strangest dream last night / I dreamt I tore out your insides” exploring emotional collapse and the guilt of failing someone you love through intrusive thoughts and dissociative separation from reality. The band intentionally strips away polish for something exposed and devastating.

Chest has been making serious noise since moving to London this year following summer single “MACHINE” with sold out headline shows in Norwich and London, support slots with The Lounge Society, Bilk and PleasureInc, plus appearances at Latitude and Wild Paths earning early spins from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music. Sure, they tour relentlessly, but their last album was 2008’s ‘Chinese Democracy.’ They’ve dropped a few songs here and there, but a full album? Don’t hold your breath.

Incubus

‘8’ came out in 2017, and fans keep hearing about a new album that keeps getting delayed. The waiting game continues.

Janet Jackson

She promised ‘Black Diamond’ around 2020, scrapped the whole thing, and we’re still waiting. Her brother Randy allegedly has something to do with the holdup.

Kate Bush

Fourteen years since ’50 Words for Snow’ in 2011. She’s been busy with remasters, books, and re-releases, just no new music. Classic Kate.

Lauryn Hill

The queen of taking her time. ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ came out in 1998, and we’re still waiting for a proper follow-up over two decades later.

Madonna

Seven years between ‘Madame X’ (2019) and her upcoming 2025 album—the longest gap of her career. Even the Queen of Pop needs a break sometimes.

Massive Attack

‘Heligoland’ dropped in 2010, making it 14 years of silence. Though they recently announced something new-ish, so there’s hope on the horizon.

Radiohead

‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ is about to turn ten years old in 2026. The band is bursting with creativity, but they’re all busy with solo projects and can never seem to be free at the same time.

Rihanna

The most famous musical disappearing act of our time. ‘Anti’ came out in 2016, and despite a couple songs for movie soundtracks, Rihanna is apparently too busy building her beauty empire to worry about R9.

Sade

The band that moves at their own elegant pace. No new album since 2010’s ‘Soldier of Love,’ but that mysterious piece of foam with a question mark in their box set keeps fans hopeful.

System of a Down

November 22, 2025 marks twenty years since ‘Hypnotize.’ They’ve released exactly two songs since then. Two. In twenty years.

Tool

‘Fear Inoculum’ finally arrived in 2019 after a thirteen-year wait. Given their track record, we’ll probably see the next one sometime around 2032.

Tom Waits

Fifteen years since 2011’s ‘Bad as Me.’ One of the most prolific artists of his generation just… stopped. We miss you, Tom.
