Deutsche Grammophon is delighted to announce the release of Howard ShoreāsĀ āThe Noble Wood (IĀ Roderyn)ā. TheĀ world premiere recordingĀ is taken from theĀ European premiereĀ of this atmospheric piece arranged by the composer from themes written to represent the Woodland Elves inĀ The Desolation of SmaugĀ (the second instalment inĀ The HobbitĀ trilogy). The track features on the forthcoming albumĀ Howard Shore: Anthology ā The Paris Concerts, curated by the multi-award-winning Canadian composer himself. It will be available to stream/download fromĀ 7Ā February 2025Ā and will be followed by āThe Fly Main Titleā onĀ 28 February.

Howard Shore: Anthology ā The Paris ConcertsĀ will be released on 21 March 2025 ā digitally, as a 2-CD set and on vinyl. Recorded during Radio Franceās 2023 āWeek-End Howard Shoreā, it reflects the rich variety of the composerās output, presenting highlights from such diverse scores asĀ The Fly,Ā NakedĀ Lunch,Ā Ed Wood,Ā Crash,Ā Esther KahnĀ andĀ Eastern Promises, as well asĀ The Lord of the RingsĀ andĀ TheĀ Hobbit, together with his concert piece for solo piano:Ā Catania. The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France is conducted by Ludwig Wicki and Bastien Stil, while Mike SchƤperclaus conducts Le Balcon in the chamber works.
AĀ 2āLP set comprisesĀ CataniaĀ and the pieces fromĀ The Lord of the Rings,Ā The Hobbit,Ā Esther KahnĀ andĀ Eastern Promises. A deluxe vinyl version includes the complete album repertoire on 3 picture discs whose images reflect the films. The LPs are packaged in a special gatefold sleeve which features lyrics in Tolkienās Sindarin language as well as English.
Howard Shoreās music has graced over a hundred films and won him a string of awards, including 3Ā Oscars, 3Ā Golden Globes and 4Ā Grammys. He has also written for opera, ballet and the concert hall. His long and hugely successful career will be celebrated at the brand-new London Soundtrack Festival (19-26 March 2025). At the LSF gala concert on Saturday 22 March the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, under the baton of Ben Palmer, will perform a selection of works by Shore, who will also be presented with the inaugural London Soundtrack Festival Inspiration Award.
