Atlantic Records And Andrew Watt’s Gold Tooth Records Announce Partnership With Iggy Pop As First Artist

0

Today, Atlantic Records has announced an exclusive partnership with Gold Tooth Records, founded by GRAMMY® Award-winning and multi-platinum producer Andrew Watt. In addition, the one and only Iggy Pop is the first artist signed to this joint venture. The GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award honoree and Godfather of Punk shared he will make his label debut on October 28 with “Frenzy,” the first single off Iggy’s forthcoming album.

“I’m the guy with no shirt who rocks. Andrew and Gold Tooth get that, and we made a record together the old-fashioned way. The players are guys I’ve known since they were kids and the music will beat the shit out of you. Have a great day,” says Iggy Pop.

“Iggy Pop is a fucking icon. A true original. The guy invented the stage dive..I still can’t believe he let me make a record with him. I am honored. It doesn’t get cooler. This album was created to be played as loud as your stereo will go…turn it up and hold on…” says Andrew Watt.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Andrew and Gold Tooth into the Atlantic family. As a brilliant producer and stellar musician, Andrew has the gift of elevating every project into a work of art. And, of course, we’re over the moon to have the legendary and phenomenal Iggy Pop as our first joint signing. Iggy’s groundbreaking work forever changed the rock landscape, and he continues to make boundary-crashing music. This also marks his return to the Warner family, more than 50 years after he made his recording debut with the Stooges on our sister label Elektra. Iggy’s never stopped evolving, and he’s made a fantastic album that we can’t wait for the world to hear,” says Craig Kallman, Chairman & CEO, Atlantic Records.

Widely acknowledged as one of the most influential artists and dynamic live performers of all time, Iggy Pop is a singer, songwriter, musician, author, record producer, DJ, and actor whose epic body of work has earned him both worldwide critical acclaim and fanatic cult success. Beginning in 1967 with his era-defining group The Stooges, Pop merged primal rock, blues, and free jazz into something altogether dangerous and new, paving the way for punk, post-punk, hard rock, and grunge. His landmark solo career – which kicked off with 1977’s David Bowie-produced The Idiot and Lust For Life – has seen Pop traverse a stunning span of musical genres, inspiring generation after generation of rock ‘n rollers with his iconoclastic songcraft, uncompromising performance style, and one-of-a-kind charisma. Perhaps the greatest living embodiment of rock & roll, Pop has never slowed down, pushing the art form forward for more than half a century, including his most recent full length recording, 2019’s contemplative, critically acclaimed Free.

Andrew Watt’s diverse array of credits includes work with Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Ozzy Osbourne and more. In 2021 he was honored with the GRAMMY® Award for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, and recently produced Ozzy Osbourne’s #1 Billboard Chart-topping album Patient Number 9, as well as the single “Hold Me Closer,” the highly anticipated hit collaboration by Britney Spears and Elton John. At the top of 2022, Watt produced the entirety of Eddie Vedder’s critically acclaimed solo release Earthling, and in February, he landed two genre-bending hits on the Hot 100 in The Kid LAROI’s “Thousand Miles” and Ed Sheeran and Lil Baby’s “2step.” Beyond his producing and songwriting, Watt had the honor of joining Eddie Vedder on tour as part of his all-star side project, The Earthlings.

Groovy Soulful ROAD WAVES Release “Small World” Single Reminding Us We Have Each Other

0

Get ready for your favorite new, groovy, soulful tune because Ontario-based trio Road Waves’ new single, “Small World,” is out now

The trio originated in 2014 and quickly fell in love with cross-country touring. Of course, when the COVID virus caused an unforeseen pause for live music events, the band had to compromise. The group brainstormed the best ways to keep their strong relationship with their fans, deciding to perform live stream concerts and videos. The trio stepped up their game a notch and hosted drive-in concerts for safe, socially distanced live events.

The trio consists of Ji Sharp on Lead vocals and guitar, Matt Maxwell on Drums and Vocals and Dave Ruigrok on Bass Guitar. When the trio recorded “Small World,” Yo Izumita played Bass Guitar.

The catchy groove evokes a beach-like feel. The keys dance while the rippling percussion moves the listener to tap their foot. The flutists dazzle with their higher-pitched, windy voices; the trumpets thunder through the latter half of the song and the vocals charm the listener. The lyrics advocates for the universal need to spread love and erase hate.

“I heard the call from my sisters and brothers/ The worlds so small, but we got one another/ We’ve got to think of the children/ And what we leave behind for them all.”

According to Road Waves, Radiohead, Paul Simon, and Tedeschi Trucks Band inspired the five-minute ode to universal love. The band coined this track during the pandemic. Actually, “Small World” was the first song the band worked on during the global lockdown.

“It was a message to fellow artists and humans, as well as me, that we had a special role to play in the chaos in the world. As artists, I believe that our role is to bear witness to life all around us during the good, the bad and the boring times and find ways of making sense of/manifesting the human experience in the form of words, music, and art.”

Road Waves picked their tour back up in early 2022, and their lockdown tactics worked. The band will embark on their 2nd US tour of the year in the fall. One of the unique aspects of the trio is their inclination to move with their sound. Road Waves loves to go with the flow of their music. Yes, they have recorded songs, and they know their music, but when the beat enthralls them during a live show, they go with it. No version of a Road Waves’ song is ever the same.

Robinson Kirby Releases Fresh Folk Ode To Blossoming Relationships In “Secret Lover”

0

Last year, the Toronto-based folk-rock duo Robinson Kirby released a seven-song EP, Little Dreams, and a summer anthem, “Summer of Love.” Now, they add to their discography with a fresh folk jam, “Secret Lover.”

Robinson Kirby mentioned that their previous EP focused on songs “about love, searching for connection, and finding your place in the world.” “Secret Lover” picks up where Little Dreams left off with an ode to a blossoming relationship. Moments so novel you spend your free time sneaking around friends and family, eager to cherish those early days before the relationship blooms into something concrete and known.

Robinson Kirby mentioned that originally “Secret Lover” started with a slower melody and a completely different tone than the “upbeat, grooving feel” it emanates today.

“We wanted to capture some of the spirit of our shows and celebrate playing live again, which we had really missed,” Robinson Kirby said.

“Over the course of the last year, as shows started happening again, it became a highlight in our set,” they said.

A soothing guitar intro opens the song, soon joined by a light percussive element and Kirby’s sweet vocals. She beckons her “secret lover” to “Sneak away with me/So our friends don’t see.” You can’t help but lean into this tale of a tight-lipped affair.

“‘Secret Lover’ is about the excitement at the beginning of a relationship – when you get butterflies around the other person, maybe even feel those first feelings of love. You have hope for the future, but it’s uncertain, and the relationship is undefined,” Robinson Kirby shared.

The catchy tune begs the attention of the listener with a call into a beautiful, clandestine universe. The vocals and guitar riffs entrance the listener with this evocative tale.

About a minute and a half into the song, the guitar spills into a tremendous solo filled with powerful vibrato tone. This electric interlude then returns to the folk anthem of the enchanting origins of love.

Harrison Lenz engineered the track and added his superb bass playing to the instrumental backing, while Ryan Johnston lent his talent on the drums.

“We cut the basic tracks at Gold Standard Recorders in Toronto with our live band. We used the live vocal take and guitar solo in the final track, which feels like a cool step for us. When we’re in the studio, we can be perfectionists, so it feels great to keep full takes, not fuss over every little detail, and just let the song speak for itself,” the band said.

Luke Robinson and Madelyn Kirby met at Berklee College of Music and bonded over a shared fascination with 70s music and the pop scene. “Secret Lover” marks their first release following their 2021 EP Little Dreams and single, “Summer of Love.” Robinson Kirby also collaborated on “Venice” with Julian DelGrosso and “Tired Eyes” with Darby Loves You before releasing “Secret Lover.”

The McAuley Boys Are Back To Remind Us Of Family And Human Connection In “I Can’t Wait To See You Smile”

0

As the unpredictability of this new world continues to spiral, London, Ontario-based Pop/R&B vocal quartet The McAuley Boys are back to remind us about the importance of family and human connection with their uplifting new single “I Can’t Wait To See You Smile.”

Real-life brothers Gary, George, Mark, and Randy McAuley deliver a silky-smooth auditory experience with “I Can’t Wait To See You Smile” while reckoning with the cold new reality forced upon us by the polarizing global pandemic. George McAuley captures the spirit of the music when he says, “It’s a timeless song that has a far-reaching sentiment. We need more smiling and more love in our world today…and always.”

The irresistible charm of “I Can’t Wait To See You Smile” finds its origins in a demo assembled by Mark and Randy. Once those foundations were laid, an assortment of harmonic embellishments were applied to bring the song to life. As Gary McAuley puts it, “With a song like this, it really comes together when we get into the studio to do the record. Harmonizing and layering the background vocals is always a treat!”

The message of the song is inspired by Mark McAuley’s spiritual journey through the pandemic. “The world slowed down and then stopped, and it gave us some time to reflect and think about the things that are most important to us.”

Putting family and art above all else, Mark draws on the connection with his daughter, Malia, and a perfect stranger named Richard, to make an emotional statement about the profound nature of human kindness. “This song is for Malia and Richard and for all the people who put light in our lives with their smiles; that simple human gesture that says: “I see you” and “everything is going to be alright.”

Audiences are instantly hypnotized by the stellar vocal work and balanced melodies on “I Can’t Wait To See You Smile,” a song brimming with hope and lyrics that represent the emotional shift needed as we begin to reconnect in society after so much isolation.

“There’s always something driving me down this lonely road
No matter where I go, I’m always close to home
You’re never farther than a heartbeat away from me
And you should know that no one can take that away from me
And there’s nowhere in this world I’d rather be”

The brilliantly produced lyric video is also a serene accompaniment reflecting the optimistic aesthetic that The McAuley Boys are trying to bring more of into the world.

The McAuley Boys celebrate their latest single in the wake of a long and successful career. Their 1997 JUNO Award-nominated album “In Another Lifetime,” along with their biggest hit, a cover of the Gibb Brothers’ “I Just Want To Be Your Everything,” took them around the world and back. From charting singles to the performance of the Canadian National Anthem at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Jacobs Field in Cleveland, Ohio, The McAuley Boys have always had an undeniable talent for hits.

As the world unmasks and begins to return to normal, The McAuley Boys will continue to use their music to uplift, inspire, and foster a world where everyone is encouraged to exercise the power of a smile.

This weekend Sam will be headlining two shows at the Royal Albert Hall on the 21st & 22nd October 2022. With the continuing success of “Unholy”, live plots and the release of their fourth studio album, Gloria, 2023 is going to be an undeniably exciting year for Sam.

Look Out! London, UK’s Vivienne Cure Unleashes Haunting “Paranoia” In New Single

0

Vivienne Cure explores the dimly lit fringe of “Paranoia” in her new single, out now.

Boasting electric lo-fi percussion and seething metal elements, Cure’s vocals haunt the melody. “Paranoia” is a TV set to static before the paranormal comes to reclaim. It’s a sanity-questioning anthem, set to stun. Cure takes no prisoners; a siren in a lake of rushing industrial hard rock water. It captivates and claims the oxygen in the air, leaving you gasping for more.

The British born Cure is both a musician and visual artist. Her tenure in the arts bleeds together the elements of experimental soundscape doom metal and alternative gothic.

“My collection of musical works lay at the centre of a vortex of swirling fragments of deeply personal memories driven by my inner war and reaction to society’s underlying sadness,” Cure says.

With projects featured with Kerrang, NME, Clash, and MTV, Cure continues to deliver tasteful, dark aesthetics with an eccentric horror appeal. She is the one creeping into your mind when your inner sanctuary blinks blankly, seeking refuge in someone else’s understanding. Cure cuts through the mundane, and sears life back into the void. Her lyrics invoke, provoke, question and answer.

“Blood roses
Rubbing skin
Heaven is sweeter
Burying sin”

Vivienne Cure is a testament to the amalgamation of hard rock, industrial, and gothic beauty. Her music is the passageway between the real and what could be. She taunts you with what you know to be true. And then challenges you to question if it’s “Paranoia”.
