Shoegaze Titans NOTHING Announce New Album ‘a short history of decay’ and Launch Slide Away Festival

0

Philadelphia shoegaze icons NOTHING have announced their fifth studio album, ‘a short history of decay,’ arriving February 27 via Run For Cover Records. Described as their most expansive and emotionally raw work yet, the record finds frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo confronting aging, illness, and memory’s fragile weight with a disarming honesty. Backed by a revitalized lineup—featuring Doyle Martin (Cloakroom), Bobb Bruno (Best Coast), Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and Cam Smith (Ladder To God, Cloakroom)—NOTHING have created an album that expands their industrial-gaze sound into something both immense and intimate. The band also shared the lead single and video, “cannibal world,” a haunting yet heavy glimpse into their new era.

To celebrate, NOTHING will headline their own festival, Slide Away, across multiple cities in North America. The event will mark the 10th anniversary of their landmark album ‘Tired of Tomorrow,’ with special guest performances from Hum, Chapterhouse, Swirlies, and more. With ‘a short history of decay,’ NOTHING continues to evolve the boundaries of modern shoegaze while cementing their legacy as one of the genre’s most fearless and emotionally resonant bands.

Krisj Wannabe Returns with Fierce New Single ‘Just Sit Here’

0

Following the success of his critically acclaimed Mirror EP, Krisj Wannabe pushes his sound into bolder territory with his new single ‘Just Sit Here,’ out now on all major streaming platforms. Recorded at Pol[ip]o Studio in Bologna, the track features production by Luca Jacoboni and drums by Jack Ganzerli. Where Mirror explored the daily grind of alienation and repetition, ‘Just Sit Here’ zeroes in on the moment when quiet endurance erupts into defiance—a direct confrontation with oppression and control.

Driven by lo-fi grit and post-punk energy, ‘Just Sit Here’ feels like a primal scream from the margins. Wannabe’s raw vocals and Jacoboni’s tense, layered production create a sense of suffocating intensity, while Ganzerli’s grounded rhythm propels the track forward with unrelenting urgency. “The song is the scream of the repressed against the paranoid fears of a relentless oppressor,” says Wannabe, capturing the emotion that threads through every beat.

Born in the US, raised in Italy, and now based in Tokyo, Krisj Wannabe channels the restlessness of modern life into socially charged art. Blending lo-fi, grunge, and post-punk elements, he continues to turn unease into sound, reflection into resistance. ‘Just Sit Here’ stands as both a statement and an invitation—a rallying cry for those tired of sitting still.

Irish Folk Band Some One’s Sons Capture Escapism and Hope with New Single ‘The Chance to Feel Alive’

0

Irish folk quintet Some One’s Sons return with their stirring new single ‘The Chance to Feel Alive,’ out October 31. Written by Daniel Allen, the track is a heartfelt folk anthem about escapism and the search for fleeting relief in hard times. Set against a backdrop of soaring rents, friends emigrating, and modern fatigue, its refrain—“10 pints of porter and the chance to feel alive”—rings out as both a rallying cry and a lament. “Sometimes the easiest place to find hope is at the bottom of a pint,” says Allen, perfectly summing up the song’s bittersweet heart.

Blending Celtic folk textures with cinematic western tones, ‘The Chance to Feel Alive’ combines bouzouki-led arrangements and storytelling worthy of Ireland’s great troubadours. The hypnotic chant of “Na na na…” that follows the line “And the drink is singing” mirrors the push and pull of indulgence and escape—hope and heartbreak in equal measure. It’s a sound that places the Sons alongside kindred spirits like Ispíní na hÉireann, The Scratch, and The Highwaymen, while carving out their own distinct path.

Following a packed summer tour with standout performances at Galway Folk Fest, Fleadh Cheoil, and Electric Picnic, the Mullingar band—Daniel Allen, Joe Monaghan, Ross Gavin, and brothers Greg and Ger Dunne—are gearing up for a 2026 UK tour and an upcoming EP. Known for songs like ‘The Banshee Wall’ and ‘Paddy O,’ Some One’s Sons continue to tell Ireland’s modern stories through melody and grit, turning life’s struggles into songs of defiance and connection.

Upcoming Gigs:
November 22 – The Haven, Waterford
December 6 – The Cobblestone, Dublin
December 26 – Mullingar Arts Center, Mullingar

Premiering Tuesday, November 4, the program will air weekly on Tuesdays at 12 PM ET, with replays on Thursdays at 3 PM ET, Sundays at 9 PM ET, and anytime on the SiriusXM app.

‘Pick Like a Girl’ will shine a well-deserved spotlight on the women of bluegrass—both legendary trailblazers and today’s groundbreaking new voices. “The original architects of bluegrass music were all men. But I believe that women are creating some of the most compelling bluegrass that’s ever been made,” says Brown. “I hope that ‘Pick Like a Girl’ will draw new listeners to the music and help inspire the next generation of women to see a place for themselves in bluegrass.”

Each episode will feature music from acclaimed artists such as Sierra Hull, Della Mae, Sister Sadie, Molly Tuttle, Laurie Lewis, and many more, along with interviews and live in-studio performances. With Brown at the helm, ‘Pick Like a Girl’ promises to be both a celebration and evolution of bluegrass, honoring the genre’s roots while amplifying the voices shaping its future.

FIFTY FIFTY Return with Vibrant New Album ‘Too Much Part 1’ and Electrifying Single ‘Eeny Meeny Miny Moe’

0

K-pop sensation, FIFTY FIFTY, makes a bold return with their latest album, Too Much Part 1, now available on all streaming platforms. The project marks a new chapter in the group’s musical journey, capturing the modern sentiment of embracing love’s beginnings with fearless yet playful curiosity.

The new body of work brings to life the flutter, tension, and unpredictable energy that comes with overwhelming emotions. Inspired by motifs such as “a psychological game of confessing love as a playful challenge” and “the moment emotions burst into color,” the single perfectly balances raw intensity with FIFTY FIFTY’s signature vibrancy and playful charm. This release continues to pioneer “Fifty Pop,” a genre defined by honesty, energetic expression, and emotional nuance. Too Much Part 1 invites fans to experience the excitement of love’s early moments, transforming vulnerability into a lively, colorful musical journey.

The main track being “Eeny meeny miny moe” is a  thrill of a first crush turned into pop perfection. With a chanty hook, fluttering “Ba ba ba Badam” beats, and bright synths, the quintet makes the nervous excitement of young love irresistibly catchy. Skittlez makes emotions explode like a rainbow of candy in this playful, sensual track. Minimalist hip-hop vibes meet glossy vocals, making every lyric pop with color and energy. “Eeny meeny miny moe (Eng. ver)” is a global version of the hit that retains its cute, lively charm while adding a confident, universal pop flair.  FIFTY FIFTY proves once again they’re masters of turning love, playfulness, and emotion into infectious music. The beloved girl group has been making significant strides in the global music scene. Their breakout hit, “Cupid”, not only became the longest-charting K-pop song in Billboard Hot 100 history at 25 consecutive weeks but also made them the first female K-pop act to reach the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number eight. The group further solidified their rising star status by winning the K-Pop Song of the Year for “Cupid (Twin Version)” at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Further solidifying their position as a global force in the music industry, they captivated audiences with shows during their U.S. tour last year and an album release earlier this year.

The five-piece collective continues to expand their artistic horizons while staying true to the heartfelt storytelling that defines their music. With a variety of on-going music projects in the upcoming months, the group aspires to demonstrate their versatility as artists and work hard to build upon their growing success.

FIFTY FIFTY debuted in Nov 2022 and experienced a commercial breakthrough with their song “Cupid”, which became the longest-charting K-pop song in Billboard Hot 100 history at 25 consecutive weeks (peaking #17) and reached #2 on the Billboard Global 200. The song became popular on TikTok due to a dance trend launched by the group, with over 2 million video creations on the ‘twin’ version and more on sped-up audios. Rather than most K-pop groups which focus initially on the local market and Korean-language repertoire, FIFTY FIFTY’s songs leaned more heavily into Western pop sounds and English-language hooks, as seen in other tracks like “SOS” and “Gravity.” Just last year, they inked a U.S. record deal with Arista Records and released their comeback EP Love Tune. So far, the group has released two EPs – The FIFTY and Love Tune – along with one LP, The Beginning. They also contributed a song to the soundtrack of the blockbuster Barbie movie.

Flash Poetry Confronts Modern Myths with Bold New Album ‘Reality, Now’

0

There’s a chill running through the modern world, and Flash Poetry captures it with unflinching precision on his upcoming album ‘Reality, Now,’ out November 28. The title track, available now, blends spoken word, hip-hop, psych-rock, and jazz-infused grooves into a philosophical meditation on money, ego, and technology—the new myths shaping contemporary life. The project comes from Naarm/Melbourne-based poet and freestyle virtuoso Nico Lim, whose art turns reflection into rhythm and intellect into emotion.

Nico’s creative awakening came in an unlikely silence. While living in a remote Colombian jungle, a lung infection left him speechless for a month. From that stillness emerged his poetry collection ‘The Silent World That Won’t Stop Talking,’ which raised funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation and became the foundation for his musical path. Once a librarian and professional copywriter, he left behind the conventional nine-to-five grind, evolving from local freestyler to TEDx Melbourne performer—using his art to spark connection and community.

Performing as Flash Poetry, Nico builds sonic spaces where thought and feeling intertwine. The new single ‘Reality, Now’ dives into society’s pursuit of transcendence through comfort and consumption, set against mellow guitars, floaty keys, and simmering percussion. His flow is deliberate yet effortless—part philosopher, part poet—tracing the unease of modern existence with sharp clarity. The full album arrives November 28, a vivid reflection of a world desperate to find meaning amid the noise.
