Nonpoint Launch “The Outta Control Tour” With SOiL And Sumo Cyco

0

Hard rock mainstays Nonpoint hit the road this spring with “The Outta Control Tour,” a high-energy U.S. run featuring special guests SOiL and Sumo Cyco. The band will debut new material from their forthcoming album while delivering the explosive sound that has fueled their career. Tickets and VIP packages are available now.

Elias Soriano shares, “We’re gonna be playing some new tracks on this tour that are some of my favorites on the new record. One being our lead track ‘IS IT’. It’s about that internal conflict where you question getting too involved. Did I push too hard? Did I ask too much? It’s that feeling of wondering if doing what you thought was right actually meant being okay with hurting the people around you. We’re also performing our collab with Skye from Sumo Cyco, ‘RED YETI’. That one is gonna blow people away. Add the return of Soil to the stage after some time off in the US, new production and you got a night people are going to talk about.”

This run marks SOiL’s first U.S. tour in two years, a major return for the Chicago-based metal staples, with new material slated for release later this year. The tour also reunites Nonpoint with Sumo Cyco following their recent collaboration, bringing Skye back into the mix for a live showcase of “RED YETI.”

Adds Tim King, “During all the years SOiL and Nonpoint have been friends, we’ve never done an actual tour in the states together. I’m excited to see our two bands finally being brought together here. This will be a great tour for the fans.” The chemistry is built-in. The volume is locked. The road is set.

Canadian Pop Punk Torchbearers Chief State Surge Ahead With “April Showers” And ‘Keep Your Friends Closer’

0

Canadian pop-punk mainstays Chief State return with “April Showers,” a driving new single and video previewing their forthcoming full-length album ‘Keep Your Friends Closer,’ out April 17 via Mutant League Records. The track moves with urgency, fusing melodic punch with reflective songwriting that has defined the band’s rise across North America and beyond.

Produced, engineered and mixed by Tim Creviston (Spiritbox, Youth Fountain) and mastered by Stu McKillop at Rain City Recorders, the album captures a band in motion. The sound is tighter and more expansive, grounded in grit and vulnerability while pushing into bolder territory. The momentum is undeniable. This is Chief State stepping forward with force.

“The album that very nearly didn’t happen. In 2023/24 we found ourselves in a game of musical chairs with members moving on to new paths. When Joe and I were the last two standing, we had to decide whether to continue or call it a day – so we wrote a song. That was all it took to reignite everything. This record is ten years of grit and determination. It’s about getting back up when you’re knocked down, about friendship, hardship, betrayal, love, anger, isolation – life. Recording again with our longtime producer Tim Creviston felt like watching the full potential of Chief State come together. It’s our most authentic, most collaborative, and best work to date.” – Fraser, Nik, Joseph, Bran and James

After years of relentless touring and acclaimed releases, Chief State continue to solidify their place at the forefront of modern pop-punk. The band will celebrate the album’s arrival with a hometown appearance supporting Wheatus on April 13 at The Pearl in Vancouver, where Wheatus will perform their self-titled debut in full.

Foo Fighters Ignite With “Your Favorite Toy” Album Reveal On The Graham Norton Show

0

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame powerhouse Foo Fighters return with “Your Favorite Toy,” the high-energy title track from their forthcoming 12th studio album, ‘Your Favorite Toy,’ out April 24. The single signals a new chapter for the band, arriving as the follow-up to 2023’s ‘But Here We Are.’ The engine is loud. The hooks are sharp. The band sounds locked in.

The group brought the song to television with a live debut on The Graham Norton Show in the UK, delivering a performance that hit with force and precision. Dave Grohl also joined Norton for a sit-down interview, offering insight into the new material and the band’s current momentum.

While overseas, Foo Fighters played a small gig at St. James’ Church in Dingle, Ireland, for a local TV taping. The intimate setting became a proving ground for more new music, including the debut of “Of All People.” The band opened the set with “A320,” their contribution to the 1997 Godzilla soundtrack, digging deep into their catalogue.

‘Your Favorite Toy’ stands as the band’s 12th full-length release. With a fresh single in rotation and new songs already hitting live stages, Foo Fighters move forward at full throttle. The volume is up. The next era is underway.

Soul Legends Roberta Flack And Donny Hathaway Shine On ‘Love From Roberta And Donny’ EP

0

‘Love From Roberta And Donny’ arrives as a special new EP celebrating the timeless recordings of soul icons Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Available now, the release marks the first anniversary of Flack’s passing in February 2025 and honors a partnership that shaped classic R&B and pop. Their voices remain central to the sound of an era.

The six-track collection gathers newly remastered performances drawn from across their careers, including standout duets and signature solo moments. “The Closer I Get to You” captures the undeniable chemistry between Flack and Hathaway, a recording that still glows decades after its release. These songs continue to move listeners across generations.

“I (Who Have Nothing),” the lead single from their first album together, also features on the EP and recently found renewed attention through placement in Netflix’s His & Hers. The resurgence underscores the enduring emotional pull of their catalogue and the precision of their vocal interplay.

This release centers on legacy – not nostalgia. It is a reminder of two artists whose recordings defined intimacy in soul music and whose influence remains woven into contemporary R&B. Their harmonies, phrasing, and emotional depth still set the bar.

Track Listing:

  2. “The Closer I Get to You” (feat. Donny Hathaway)
  3. “I (Who Have Nothing)”

10 Artists Who Never Released A Solo Album

0

Some artists look built for a solo career. The charisma. The catalog. The unmistakable voice. And yet, for all their stature, they never put their own name on the front of a studio album. No solo debut. No side quest. Just loyalty to the mothership.

Here are 10 major artists who never released a proper solo studio album.

Axl Rose

Few frontmen defined an era like Axl Rose. Guns N Roses could fracture, regroup, tour the world and rebuild from the ashes, but Rose never stepped outside the band framework for a full solo statement. Chinese Democracy sometimes felt like a personal odyssey, yet it still carried the band name. For a singer with that range and reputation, the absence of a solo record remains one of rock’s great what ifs.

Angus Young

The schoolboy uniform. The duck walk. The riffs that powered arenas for decades. Angus Young co founded AC DC and never drifted from the mission. His songwriting fingerprints are all over some of the most enduring rock anthems ever recorded, but he never chased a parallel career. The band was the vehicle. The voltage never needed a different outlet.

Bono

As the voice and lyricist of U2, Bono became one of the most recognizable figures in modern music. He collaborated widely and stepped into activism on a global scale, yet musically he stayed within the four walls of U2. In an era when frontmen often splinter off to test their independence, Bono kept the creative circle intact.

Dave Grohl

He has been the drummer in Nirvana, the leader of Foo Fighters, a producer, a collaborator and a tireless champion of rock history. Grohl has played nearly every instrument on record more than once. Still, he never issued an album billed strictly as Dave Grohl. Even when he handled most of the heavy lifting, it was under a band banner. For him, the collective always seemed more powerful than the individual.

Eddie Van Halen

Eddie Van Halen rewrote the guitar handbook in the late seventies. Tapping, tone, swagger. Entire generations followed his lead. There were soundtrack contributions and countless studio experiments, but no formal solo album ever arrived. His laboratory was Van Halen. His breakthroughs lived inside that chemistry.

James Hetfield

Metallica operates like a fortress, and James Hetfield has long been one of its architects. His rhythm playing and vocal attack shaped thrash metal’s evolution into a global force. Bandmates explored side projects, but Hetfield kept his output inside Metallica’s walls. The band has always functioned as the outlet for his writing and intensity.

Joe Elliott

Def Leppard built one of the most polished catalogs of the eighties, and Joe Elliott’s voice sits at its center. He has fronted tribute projects and special collaborations, yet never released a studio album under his own name. His creative identity has remained tied to the band that survived lineup changes, tragedy and reinvention.

Lemmy Kilmister

Lemmy was Motorhead. The gravel voice, the Rickenbacker rumble, the outlaw philosophy. He guested everywhere and lent credibility to anyone who shared a stage with him, but he never carved out a solo discography. Motorhead was not a stepping stone. It was the destination.

Michael Stipe

R.E.M. thrived on collaboration, and Michael Stipe’s enigmatic presence anchored the band for three decades. After their split, he released individual tracks and explored visual art and film, but a full length solo album never surfaced. His voice drifted into new mediums without becoming a conventional solo act.

Neil Peart

Neil Peart joined Rush early and elevated them into progressive rock innovators. His drumming and lyrical vision reshaped the band’s trajectory, and his books revealed another side of his artistry. Yet he never recorded a solo album. His ideas, intricate and expansive, always returned to the trio format that defined his career.

Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao Set Historic Rematch at Las Vegas Sphere

0

Boxing history is getting a sequel. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will meet again in a professional rematch on September 19 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, with the event streamed globally on Netflix.

Their first clash in 2015 shattered pay per view and gate records, with Mayweather earning a unanimous decision in what became one of the most lucrative fights in boxing history. Now, more than a decade later, both icons return from retirement with unfinished business and bold promises.

Mayweather, who retired at 50-0 after stopping Conor McGregor in 2017, has stayed active in exhibitions and recently signaled a return to professional competition. Pacquiao, an eight division world champion, resumed fighting in 2025 and battled Mario Barrios to a majority draw. He is also scheduled for an exhibition against Ruslan Provodnikov ahead of the rematch.

Details on weight class and rounds have yet to be confirmed, but the stakes are clear. Pacquiao has long insisted he was not at full strength in their first meeting and has openly chased this opportunity. Mayweather remains confident the result will be the same.

With Netflix distributing the fight to more than 325 million subscribers worldwide and the Sphere hosting its first boxing event, this rematch blends nostalgia, spectacle and modern streaming reach into one global stage.
