Written By Wolves Reignite Their Origins with Explosive New Version of ‘Bonfires’

0

‘Bonfires’ is where it all began for Written By Wolves — the very first song the band ever wrote, now reborn for their 10th anniversary. Originally a live fan favorite that never saw an official release, the track has been resurrected for 2025 as part of The Archives, a physical re-release celebrating their early material.

“‘Bonfires’ is the first track we ever wrote so it will always hold a special place in our hearts,” says vocalist Michael Murphy. “When the idea came up for our 10-year anniversary show and The Archives we felt it was the perfect opportunity to breathe new life into a piece of Written By Wolves history and see if we could bring it into line with where we are at as a band right now.”

The new version of ‘Bonfires’ captures everything that defines Written By Wolves — cinematic scope, high-octane energy, and emotional depth. The accompanying video, filmed at their sold-out anniversary show at Auckland’s Q Theatre, showcases the band’s commanding live presence and the connection that has helped them surpass 100 million Spotify streams and build a global following. More than a re-release, ‘Bonfires’ is a symbol of evolution, resilience, and the unbreakable flame that continues to drive the band forward.

Country Music Hall of Fame legend Randy Travis has announced a special Nashville stop on his celebrated More Life Tour, performing alongside the Nashville Symphony on November 15 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. This one-night-only event promises a moving, orchestral celebration of Travis’s timeless songs and enduring legacy.

Tickets are on sale now for what is set to be an unforgettable evening. The More Life Tour features Travis on stage throughout the show, joined by special guest vocalist James Dupré, his original touring band, and conductor Kelly Corcoran leading the Nashville Symphony. Together, they’ll bring Travis’s chart-topping catalog to life with stunning new arrangements and heartfelt performances.

“The More Life Tour celebrates something so much more than a musical moment in time—it’s a gift to us to spend time with the fans, and our band, as James Dupré perfectly presents the songs that best define my career. We look forward to seeing you all somewhere along the way,” shared Randy and Mary Travis.

Though Randy no longer performs vocally due to aphasia following a 2013 stroke, he continues to join fans on stage, sharing smiles, stories, and moments of connection alongside his wife Mary. Dupré and Travis’s longtime band perform all of his most beloved hits, including “On the Other Hand,” “Forever and Ever, Amen,” and “Three Wooden Crosses.” “I’m thrilled and honored to hit the road again with my hero and friend, Randy Travis,” said Dupré. “I’m looking forward to meeting and singing along with all the Randy Travis fans in 2025.”

This Nashville Symphony performance represents a powerful full-circle moment for one of country music’s most enduring voices—a night where legacy, love, and music come together in harmony.

Laura Karpman Scores Apple’s “Down Cemetery Road” with Daring, Genre-Blending Soundtrack

0

Platoon has released the official soundtrack for the highly anticipated Apple Original series Down Cemetery Road, available today, October 29, to coincide with the series’ global premiere on Apple TV. The original score, composed by Oscar and Grammy nominee and five-time Emmy winner Laura Karpman, captures the emotional intensity and noir-inspired mystery of the eight-part thriller starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson.

“The music for Down Cemetery Road was truly a challenge and a pleasure to compose,” shares Karpman. “It represents a fusion of diverse musical elements and storytelling techniques that create a complex emotional landscape mirroring the human experience.” The ambitious score features bold percussion, sweeping English string writing, and nods to both jazz and classic film noir. Karpman intertwines these styles into an intricate sonic tapestry, blending lush orchestral arrangements with modern electronics.

Karpman describes her approach as “maximalist,” combining classical orchestration with experimental textures and visceral percussion. “This composition represents my favorite maximalist approach,” she explains. “Utilizing multiple musical styles to serve the story’s emotional truth, challenging boundaries between genres, and creating an immersive sonic world that supports and enhances the complex narrative of Down Cemetery Road.”

Down Cemetery Road stars and is executive produced by Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Emmy winner Emma Thompson, alongside Golden Globe and Olivier Award winner Ruth Wilson. The first two episodes premiered globally on Apple TV today, with new episodes releasing weekly through December 10.

Laura Karpman’s recent body of work continues to push creative boundaries across film, television, and interactive media. Her recent scores include Captain America: Brave New World, American Fiction, The Marvels, and Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed, as well as the ongoing Marvel series What If…? and Ms. Marvel for Disney+. With Down Cemetery Road, Karpman once again delivers a soundtrack that challenges conventions and redefines how music deepens cinematic storytelling.

The Cribs Announce New Album ‘Selling A Vibe’ and Share Stirring Single “A Point Too Hard To Make”

0

The Cribs are back with a brand new single, “A Point Too Hard To Make,” and the announcement of their highly anticipated new album Selling A Vibe, set for release on January 9, 2026. The beloved Wakefield trio also revealed plans for a major outdoor homecoming show at Leeds Millennium Square on July 11, their first time performing there in a decade. The show follows their sold-out UK headline tour this March with support from Courting.

“A Point Too Hard To Make” follows August’s fan-favorite single “Summer Seizures” and continues the band’s exploration of raw emotion and reconnection. Built on ringing guitars, heartfelt harmonies, and the unmistakable dual vocals of Gary and Ryan Jarman, the song embodies the band’s signature melodic urgency. “All that 2000’s damage, basically. Small-town romantics – years spent longing for connection, escape, excitement – given in abundance, for an entire decade. What do you do when the party is over? Where does it leave you? We will let you know if/when we get there. We’ve still got each other though,” says Gary Jarman.

Produced by Patrick Wimberly (Solange, MGMT, Lil Yachty), Selling A Vibe represents both a creative renewal and a heartfelt reconnection between brothers Gary, Ryan, and Ross Jarman. After two decades together, the band took time away from touring to rediscover their bond beyond music. “We’d always said if we made another record we would focus on enhancing the pop element of the band,” Gary explains. “We don’t want this to be seen as an ‘indie rock’ or ‘punk’ record. Our only hope is that people connect with the songs and lyrics for what they are. We want them to be for everyone, really.”

A Point Too Hard To Make arrives with a video that ends with a touching embrace between Gary and Ryan, underscoring the album’s theme of rediscovery and unity. With Selling A Vibe, The Cribs lean into melody and vulnerability, crafting an album that feels both deeply personal and defiantly universal.

Arkells Return With Anthemic New Single “What Good?”

0

Nine-time JUNO Award winners Arkells return with their electrifying new single “What Good?” out now via Universal Music Canada and Virgin Music Group. Bursting with conviction, energy, and purpose, the track marks the first glimpse of the band’s forthcoming 2026 album and sets the tone for a bold new chapter in their sound.

After teasing fans with snippets across social media and MLB World Series bumpers, Arkells premiered “What Good?” live for an intimate group of fans inside a Toronto garage rehearsal space just 48 hours before its official release. The spontaneous performance mirrored the spirit of the song — raw, direct, and communal — a return to the kind of real-life connections that technology often overlooks.

“What Good?” takes aim at the noise of modern life, asking the questions that define our digital age: What good is the comment section? What good is rage bait disguised as debate? What good is hustle culture if it only rewards grifters and conmen? “The song doesn’t pretend to have neat answers—but it points toward where meaning might still be found,” says frontman Max Kerman. “The sun, the moon, the neon glow of your neighborhood bar. Things we can share, things that feel real.”

The band also dropped the official music video for “What Good?”, a creative, self-directed visual filmed by Arkells (and their shadows), echoing the song’s themes of authenticity and introspection. Photo credit for the campaign goes to longtime collaborator Nathan Nash.

With more music, album details, and tour dates on the horizon, Arkells continue to prove why they’re Canada’s reigning rock heavyweights — blending anthemic alt-rock with unshakable sincerity, and once again reminding listeners what good music can truly do.

Toronto Dream-Pop Artist ARK IDENTITY Confronts Fear and Freedom on ‘Deluxe Nightmare’

0

Toronto dream-pop artist ARK IDENTITY (Noah Mroueh) unveils his most immersive project yet with Deluxe Nightmare, a surreal six-track EP that balances chaos and clarity in equal measure. The release marks a bold evolution for Mroueh, expanding his sonic world from shimmering dreamscapes to gritty, analog-driven anthems that feel both euphoric and unsettling.

At the center of the EP is the title track, a grungy, distorted burst of catharsis that transforms a recurring childhood nightmare into sound. Built on live one-take drums and guitar, “Deluxe Nightmare” captures tension through imperfection — complete with shouted section cues that bring rawness and urgency to the mix. “As a child, I had this recurring dream of flying monkeys breaking through the glass of my bedroom window,” Noah shares. “I wanted the title track to sound grungy and distorted and almost claustrophobic at times. I used fuzzy guitars, kept some of the rougher vocal takes, and leaned into repetition so it feels like you’re stuck in a loop or a bad dream that you can’t wake up from.”

Across six tracks, Deluxe Nightmare weaves dream-pop, psychedelic pop, and alt-rock into a cohesive exploration of discomfort and release. The record closes with the title track’s haunting outro — the sound of screaming monkeys and flapping wings — a surreal reminder of how fear can evolve into art. “This EP taught me to stop avoiding things that make me uncomfortable,” Noah adds. “A lot of these songs started from anxious thoughts or moments of fear, but instead of shutting them out – I leaned into them. That mindset opened me up creatively.”

Following his acclaimed debut ANNDALE, ARK IDENTITY continues his rise as one of Canada’s most promising new voices. Named one of “the most exciting new artists of 2024” by EARMILK, Noah has drawn praise for crafting soundscapes that feel both cinematic and deeply personal. With playlist support from Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify, plus a distribution deal through ADA (a division of Warner Music), ARK IDENTITY’s Deluxe Nightmare cements his status as a visionary artist unafraid to explore the edges of emotion.
