TORTURED SOUL Flees From The DJ Booth With ‘Remixes Japan Edition’

0

Offering 100% live, modern, deep, and soulful house music freed from the DJ booth, Tortured Soul have released for the first-time ever in digital stores Remixes Japan Edition — available now.

Frontman and songwriter John-Christian Urich leads the group while simultaneously drumming and singing with effortless mastery. Listeners will now be able to hear the rare remixes from Jon Cutler, Tangerine, and Yusuke Nakamura (aka Coregion), as well as a release highlight — focus track, “Another Lover (Co Region Remix – Radio Edit)” — remixed by Co-region aka Yusuke Nakamura.

Yusuke Nakamura is a Japanese composer and music producer. He is responsible for music with a variety of media, including Square Enix “Mobius Final Fantasy,” Shiseido corporate visual music. As a remixer and music arranger, Yusuke has worked for TLC, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Kiyoshiro Imawano.

Influenced by the classic songcraft of Prince, Heatwave, and Kool & The Gang, Tortured Soul is a collective of incredible international musicians united under a groove-centered rhythm.

Likened to “The Roots of House Music,” Tortured Soul’s sound is reminiscent of neo-soul groups like Jamiroquai or Brand New Heavies, while also being influenced by the contemporary freshness of house purveyors like Joey Negro, Louie Vega and nu-disco artists like Soul Clap and Purple Disco Machine.

Remixes Japan Edition is made available from Slammin Media and distributed worldwide by Believe Distribution.

Margo Price Releases Christmastime Cover of Joni Mitchell’s “River”

0

Today, Margo Price welcomes the holidays with the release of “River,” a special rendition of one of her favorite Joni Mitchell songs. While Mitchell has been a life-long inspiration for Price, Margo first debuted her cover of “River” during the Village of Love benefit for Planned Parenthood this fall. Now, accompanying herself on keys, she captures the wishful, wistful feelings behind the Christmastime classic, more prevalent than ever as we prepare to face the challenges of a winter like no other. With the song Margo sends fans a message of peace and love for the rest of the year, and the hope for 2021 to be everything 2020 wasn’t.

Tomorrow, December 2nd, Margo Price takes over Tennessee’s Stardust Drive-In Theatre for A Perfectly Imperfect Night at The Movies. In addition to a screening of 2019 documentary Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice, the event includes the premiere of Margo’s Perfectly Imperfect at The Ryman concert film, captured during her unforgettable run of three sold-out, headlining shows at the Nashville Auditorium back in 2018.

Featuring appearances from Emmylou Harris, Jack White and Sturgill Simpson, the Perfectly Imperfect at The Ryman live album is “a triumphant time capsule, marking Price’s arrival as a Nashville giant and one of Americana’s brightest contemporary acts” (NPR Music). Following its surprise Bandcamp release to benefit the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief this spring, Perfectly Imperfect at The Ryman is now available across all DSPs.

This year, Margo Price also released her third studio album, That’s How Rumors Get Started, to rave reviews from Vanity Fair, Esquire, The LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Vulture, NPR, The Ringer, Rolling Stone, Nashville Scene and many others. The record topped the Americana charts and Billboard Tastemakers chart, and led to appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS This Morning, The Daily Show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Amanpour and more.

Red Hot Honors World AIDS Day With 30th Anniversary Initiatives

0

For the past three decades, the Red Hot Organization has been fighting HIV/AIDS through the power of music and pop culture. After producing more than 20 compilation projects, collaborating with over 500 artists, and raising upwards of $15 million for hundreds of charitable groups around the world, the non-profit organization remains “the first, and only ongoing, major album series to benefit the fight against the disease” (The Guardian).

Today, December 1st, Red Hot honors World AIDS Day with a series of initiatives that continues their trailblazing and life-saving work, while commemorating the record that started it all: Red Hot + Blue. Upon release in 1990, the groundbreaking collection of music, art, fashion and film united David Byrne, Neneh Cherry, Erasure, Jean Paul Gaultier, Keith Haring, Debbie Harry & Iggy Pop, Jim Jarmusch, Annie Lennox, k.d. lang, U2, Tom Waits and dozens more reimagining the songs of Cole Porter. As the mainstream’s “first sensible, shame-free pop culture response to HIV/AIDS” (Esquire), Red Hot + Blue sold over a million copies, generating millions of dollars for affected groups, the LGBTQ community, and vital organizations like TAG, who received their first major grant through Red Hot and were therefore able to reform the NIH AIDS research program, expand AIDS research funding, and accelerate the development of crucial medication.

For World AIDS Day, Red Hot has released a 30th Anniversary Reissue of Red Hot + Blue, available across streaming platforms and digital services in its original, twenty-song entirety for the very first time.

Red Hot is also marking World AIDS Day through a brand new partnership with the New York City AIDS Memorial. Throughout the month of December, an exclusive line of Red Hot + Blue merch will be available through the Memorial’s site, including a tote and t-shirt with imagery by artist and AIDS activist David Wojnarowicz, and a shirt bearing a timely truism from Jenny Holzer. Both Wojnarowicz and Holzer were original contributors to Red Hot + Blue, and these merch proceeds will benefit the Memorial’s mission to preserve the history of those who died of AIDS, and to empower current and future activists, health professionals, and people living with HIV to end the epidemic through educational and cultural programming.

From George Michael, Madonna and Nirvana to Wu-Tang Clan and De La Soul, to Bon Iver, The National, Sharon Jones, John Legend, Chance the Rapper and Robyn, Red Hot’s curatorial instincts have consistently captured the spirit of the times for the past 30 years and counting. They’ve set the precedent for cultural activism, reduced stigmas, and changed public behavior and preconceptions in ways more relevant now than ever as the world works to surmount the challenges of yet another global pandemic.

Red Hot’s 30th Anniversary efforts will continue throughout December, with more classic content being released over the coming weeks and brand new music to be announced soon.

Can a Workers’ Comp Payout Be Garnished?

0

Workers’ compensation is meant to pay bills accrued in relation to a workplace incident. This money is not supposed to serve as a financial gain but to ensure workers don’t suffer losses when treated for injuries or illnesses sustained at work. Another way in which this pay helps is to compensate workers for lost wages.

This compensation depends upon a worker’s disability, earning record, and the duration they aren’t able to work. Can this payout be garnished? Read to find out more.

What is Garnishment?

Garnishment is when your employer holds your compensation and sends it to your creditors to settle your overdue debt. In most cases, your medical bills, vocational rehabilitation costs, and other institutional costs suffered through injuries and accidents are paid to the service providers. Because of this, they cannot be garnished.

The part of your workers’ comp that is susceptible to being garnished is the money paid to compensate for your lost wages. Does the law approve it? In certain circumstances, it is permitted, but generally garnishing workers’ comp payments is not approved.

What Factors Lead to Compensation Being Garnished?

It is rare to see workers’ compensation garnished unless under certain circumstances approved by the law. To be subjected to garnishment, you need to have neglected your legal, financial responsibilities. This includes federal tax liabilities, student loans, child support, student loans, and any other approved responsibility. State or federal laws oversee this whole process.

Besides these duties, creditors can also attempt to implement garnishment if you have overdue bills. Most of these include medical bills, credit card debt, and other related expenses. The compensation is exempt from garnishment with past balances, and it’s in rare circumstances where the state allows this garnishment.

What Cannot Be Garnished?

In most circumstances, unemployment benefits, including Supplemental Security Income – SSI, are exempted from garnishment. However, Social Security Disability and Social Security Funds benefits will be garnished if you have overdue federal taxes or failed child support. If you are receiving state public assistance, it will not be garnished.

A compensation attorney can help you know and follow up with your compensation benefits and determine if they will be subjected to garnishment. A qualified lawyer can help to avoid your compensation being used to pay your past dues. Because of the complexity involved, your lawyer will file the claim and follow it through the entire process to ensure you are fully compensated with all available benefits.

How to Determine the Funds to Be Garnished

There are federal and state laws that govern which money gets garnished to pay overdue debts. With a reliable attorney, you can mostly avoid these garnishments. Your lawyer will file all of the appropriate paperwork to attempt to block garnishment of any of your incoming funds from your workers’ compensation claim.

How Much Can Be Garnished?

There is a percentage set for the amount that can be garnished. The Consumer Credit Protection rule protects 75% of your disposable wages, meaning only 25% is subject to garnishment. Under the law, a maximum of 25% of disposable wage or any payment over 30% of the minimum wage can be garnished.

However, every state has its compensation and garnishment laws. You can check how workers’ compensation settlements are handled in Atlanta.

If suffering from workplace injuries or diagnosed with workplace ailments, you need full compensation as required by the law. It will be disheartening to receive full compensation, only to have those funds garnished without your approval. To receive fair compensation and to avoid garnishment of your benefits, it’s advisable to hire a competent lawyer who will help in all processes.

5 Signs of Zinc Deficiency

0

Zinc plays a role in the synthesis of body cells and it also helps in boosting people’s immunity. Many studies have shown that zinc plays a role in replacing irons lost during diarrhea and it also helps to prevent the formation of watery stool.  zinc supplement is essential in promoting cell growth and stopping watery stool in many people. Tihe deficiency of zinc in the body is very dangerous because your immune system may be compromised, and you may also start passing watery stool which is a precipitator of dehydration.

Unexplained Weight Loss

When you don’t have sufficient zinc, the body cannot regenerate more cells. For one to add weight, the organs must increase in size and weight, and to do that, more cells need to be produced. This explains why people deficient in zinc tend to always reduce weight and cannot find the cause for that weight loss. You can have your zinc levels measured so that you know what is causing your weight loss.

Frequent Infections

When zinc levels are below level in your body, cells of the immune system are not well multiplied. The  immune function is therefore compromised so you end up getting frequent infections. The zinc element is essential in the improvement of immune cells and ensuring you have the best immune response whenever the system detects an invading antigen. You will need to take zinc supplements if you realize that your zinc levels are below normal and you are getting frequent infections.

Wounds That Take Time to Heal

Wounds require tissue regeneration for them to heal and close. Without proper cell production and maturity, the tissue cannot regrow to make the wound heal. As a result, you need to make sure you go for the zinc supplements that will boost cell division, multiplication, and maturation. Wounds that don’t easily heal are also common in diabetic people so get your zinc levels checked and the level of blood sugar as well.

Open Sores on the Skin

When cells are not regenerating, the skin becomes weaker due to insufficient cells. The skin breaks easily since the epidermis is not that strong. As a result, open sores appear on the surface of the skin. If not well-taken care of, they turn into large wounds that make it difficult to treat. Taking zinc supplements can help to cure the sores and make you enjoy excellent skin health.

Prevention of Diarrhea

Zinc sulfate is the compound that is prescribed by many doctors to ensure it replaces the lost minerals during diarrhea. This means when one has plenty of it, even passing loose stool is not common to him or her. Zinc plays a role in promoting absorption of the water inside the intestinal lumen so that watery stool doesn’t form inside. Supplements help in ensuring there is a maximum replacement of the lost minerals during diarrhea so that your body doesn’t remain weak. All you will need to do is to eat energy giving foods.

Conclusion

Zinc is needed by the body for many functions. Besides its role in promoting sexual health and reproductive health, zinc is known to promote even the growth of strong teeth and bones. Without zinc in your body, the immune system becomes weak making you vulnerable to infections. Make sure you always try to get the supplements. Even when you get the supplements, consider eating a balanced diet so that you boost the vitamins in your body. Vitamins also boost immunity and improve the strength of your connective tissues. Combining vitamins and zinc makes you have a strong immune system and also reduces the process of aging.

Now playing: New Music from Nest Audio Sessions

0

With hundreds of thousands of songs being released every week, I’m happy when a company I trust develops new technology to help me wade through the best music. Google has done exactly that, AND created a cool playlist, too. This is why I’m so excited about something new that’s coming to Google Nest Audio. They teamed up with nine female artists from all over the world and asked them to record tracks at home exclusively for an album we’re calling Nest Audio Sessions. Some of the artists are debuting entirely new tracks while others are giving existing songs a new spin.

Nest Audio Sessions features Ella Mai, Jessie Reyez, Mabel, Shizuku (Polkadot Stingray), BENEE, Tove Lo, Lola Indigo, Joy Denalane and Louane. All you have to do is say “Hey Google, play Nest Audio Sessions on YouTube Music” to hear the full compilation from all nine artists.

“It felt pretty awesome being a part of this collection of female artists featured on Nest Audio Sessions,” said BENEE. “The Nest Audio speaker will definitely be the way to listen to music this holiday season. Having a really good speaker just means getting great sound. You get great bass and it picks up everything you want to hear.”

You can access Nest Audio Sessions from any Google Assistant-enabled smart speaker or display, but the album is truly made for the new Nest Audio, which is 75 percent louder, has 50 percent stronger bass than the original Google Home. It is also powered by Google Assistant, so you can request specific songs, adjust the volume, and even move music from one device to another using just your voice. Nest Audio has full, clear, natural sound—it’s music how it is meant to be heard. Plus, Nest Audio comes with three months of YouTube Premium for free, and right now, you get $30 off when you buy two Nest Audio devices, so you can pair them for stereo sound. And when you think about it, enjoying high quality audio so you can listen to songs crafted in artists’ own homes is sort of perfect.

But however you listen, check out Nest Audio Sessions. Who knows, maybe you’ll find your new soundtrack.

Black Sabbath Vol 4 Super Deluxe Edition Available On February 12, 2021

0

Black Sabbath unleashed the group’s fourth album in two years in 1972 with Vol 4. Stacked with classic tracks like “Supernaut,” “Changes,” and “Snowblind,” the record harnessed the group’s surging popularity to reach the Top 10 on the Albums Chart in the U.K. and the Top 20 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S., on its path to being certified platinum by the RIAA.

The innovators of heavy metal revisit Vol 4 on a new collection that includes a newly remastered version of the original album along with a trove of 20 unreleased studio and live recordings. VOL 4: SUPER DELUXE EDITION will be available on February 12 as a 4-CD set ($59.98) and a 5-LP set pressed on 180-gram vinyl ($109.98), Both versions come with extensive booklets featuring liner notes with quotes from the era from all four band members, rare photos, and a poster with previously unpublished early artwork of the album using the working title Snowblind. Both the 4-CD and 5-LP versions are available for pre-order now at the Rhino.com store.

The newly remastered version of the original album will also be available on digital download and streaming services on the same day. Click HERE to listen to the newly remastered version of “Tomorrow’s Dream,” available today digitally.

Bolstered by a fresh remastering, Vol 4’s ambitious arrangements and complex grooves have never sounded more inspired and menacing. Originally released in September 1972, the album marked two major changes for the members of Sabbath: Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. While their previous albums – Black SabbathParanoid, and Master of Reality – were produced by Rodger Bain and recorded in England, they instead chose to produce Vol 4 themselves and record it at the Record Plant in Los Angeles.

The generous addition of bonus material on VOL 4: SUPER DELUXE EDITION begins with six previously unreleased studio outtakes from the original sessions for the album. Each one has been newly mixed by Steven Wilson using the analog multi-tracks. Highlights include outtakes for “Supernaut” and “Changes,” as well an instrumental version of “Under The Sun.”

The set also features 11 additional studio recordings (also newly mixed by Wilson from the analog multi-tracks) that spotlight alternative takes, false starts and snippets of studio dialogue. These tracks transport listeners into the studio with the band and offer some insight into the making of the album. Along with several alternative takes for “Wheels Of Confusion,” these recordings also include outtakes for “The Straightener” and “Snowblind.”

The collection concludes with a searing collection of live performances that re-create a typical setlist from Black Sabbath’s tour for Vol 4. Recorded in March 1973 at various stops along the band’s U.K. tour. The recordings were originally slated for a live album that was ultimately shelved. Although some of these performances have been previously available in various states, the release marks the first time that a full 1973 live Sabbath show has been recreated. The live audio has been newly mixed by Richard Digby Smith using the original 16-track analog tapes to achieve a level of fidelity not heard on any previous incarnations. Included here are thrilling live versions of Vol 4 tracks (“Tomorrow’s Dream” and “Cornucopia”) and fan favorites (“Paranoid” and “War Pigs.”)

MICAH BARNES Co-Hosts & Headlines LOFT Community Services’ 30th Annual Home for the Holidays Benefit Concert December 10

0

The COVID-19 pandemic is bringing new meaning to Ontario-based LOFT Community Services’ annual Home for the Holidays Benefit Concert. The long-standing charity is set to mark its 30th season with a virtually streamed offering this Thursday, December 10th at 7:30pm EST and tickets are available here.

There will be both familiar and new faces lighting up screens to delight audiences at home in the name of an outstanding cause: JUNO Award-nominated and chart-topping jazz master Micah Barnes is set to both co-host, headline, and serve as Artistic Director for the hour-long event.

He will also perform with The Gospel Quartet — and former Nylons alum — Billy Newton-Davis, Jeremiah Sparks, and Mark Cassius.

“Serving as artistic director for the annual LOFT Community Services concert is my way of supporting the incredible work LOFT does for housing Ontario citizens who are at risk,” Barnes shares. “The need during this pandemic has never been greater.

“I’m excited to be hosting, and it’s especially sweet to be performing with some of my fellow former Nylons.”

Streamed live from Koerner Hall, the event will feature performances from Jackie Richardson, Hogtown Brass, Vanessa Sears, Thom Allison, Curtis Sullivan, and Ma-Anne Dionisio. Tabby Johnson will return to co-host with Barnes, and Diane Leah will serve as Musical Director.

“This year, we’ll be celebrating 30 years of a benefit that helps make LOFT’s work possible,” the organization shares of the event and extensive work in the community to promote recovery and independence for those coping with complex mental health difficulties, dementia, substance use issues, physical health challenges, homelessness, and more.

“Our Home for the Holidays Concert is our signature fundraising event, and an important opportunity to showcase the incredible impact of our community and the urgent need for ongoing support.

“This year, audiences will have the opportunity to make a special holiday donation alongside their ticket purchase, which will go to work straight away helping LOFT offer compassion and unwavering support to the most vulnerable people.”

Tickets are $50 and the event is Thursday, December 10th from 7:30 – 8:30pm EST.

Edmonton’s WALLISH Releases Biting & Candid New Single, “Give It To Me Straight”

Edmonton, AB-based alt-pop singer/songwriter Wallish is three for three this year as she weaves her incredible artistry around her next set of emotionally biting lyrics. The new result? “Give It To Me Straight” — available now.

“This song was something that was not anticipated or planned,” Amy Wallish shares. “Like much of my life…

“I had been frustrated with my current circumstances in love, life, and music, and could sense things coming to an end in my new relationship and in my musical partnerships,” she continues. “In each case, the individuals seemed to be more distant and not communicating as clearly or as often until, one day, the only response I received was radio silence.

“The silence left me with a multitude of unanswered questions, and left my mind to wander and come up with only the worst conclusions. I realized that, even if the reasons for these relationships ending were because of my worst conclusions, I would rather have somebody tell me straight up than leave me suspended in a place of uncertainty.”

Wallish had other experiences to draw on as she penned the track, which follows her previous and equally compelling singles, “The Last Time” and “Cry” — released earlier this year. “I kept returning to a conversation I had with a friend when she was trying to tell a man she was not interested in a relationship with him,” Wallish recalls. “The conclusion was drawn from that discussion that ‘clearness is kind.’

“There’s no way to let someone down easy, but if you are clear and firm in your approach, it leaves the individual to grieve and move on.”

With all this in mind, the lyrics came bursting out for the Edmonton, Alberta-based artist. “I headed to my computer, opened GarageBand, and started singing to a loop of the gamelan. I’m not a producer by any means, but I am a musician, and I have a strong drive to create — especially when full of emotions.

“Although the gamelan was the initial inspiration for the start of the song, it quickly took on a life of its own. I was full of frustrations, energy, and attitude, and what better way is there to express that then with some soulful, unfiltered funk?!

“There’s nothing like letting the music lead you.”
