Morgan Wallen announces Dangerous: The Double Album out January 8

0

As announced last night via his social media, Morgan Wallen will release his highly-anticipated sophomore album, Dangerous: The Double Album, on January 8, 2021. The vast, 30-track double album is nearly three years in the making, written largely by Wallen throughout the chapter of his career that has established him as the fastest rising young star in country, says Variety.

With the project’s arsenal of writers ranging from storytelling titans Ashley Gorley, Shane McAnally, Hillary Lindsey, Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller, to two of Wallen’s biggest musical inspirations Eric Church and Jason Isbell, to his closest musical confidants HARDY, ERNEST and Ryan Vojtesak (aka Charlie Handsome), Dangerous: The Double Album further establishes the signature sound crafted by Wallen and producer Joey Moi on his #1 Platinum debut If I Know Me.

The double shot holds both of Wallen’s current country singles — this week’s country #1 “More Than My Hometown” and the viral smash “7 Summers” — as well as his critically acclaimed cover of Isbell’s “Cover Me Up,” New Year’s surprise release “This Bar,” and the countrified album version of 3X PlatinumDiplo collaboration, “Heartless.”

“As y’all may have heard, I announced a double album last night, and I couldn’t be more excited about it,” shares Wallen. “The ‘double album’ idea started off as just a joke between me and my manager because we had accumulated so many songs over the past couple of years. Then quarantine hit and we realized it might actually be possible to have enough time to make it happen. I also ended up writing quite a few more songs during the quarantine with some of my good buddies. After a few months of production and fine tuning, I am so proud of what we came up with. I know 32 (eventual) songs sounds like a lot to digest, but I truly did my best to make sure there’s not a song that I would press “next” on. I also wanted the songs to speak to multiple phases of life, and have multiple different sounds based on my influences and based on what I enjoy. The three songs that we will put out next week will hopefully encapsulate a lot of the project for you and hold you off until January. Thank y’all!!”

War Child Announces First Virtual Gala: RISE TOGETHER

0

War Child, a global humanitarian organization, is thrilled to announce RISE TOGETHER, a virtual evening in support of vulnerable war-affected children and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic. This sensational virtual event will take place on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. EST and is free to attend by registering at www.warchild.org/risetogether.

RISE TOGETHER will feature award-winning entertainment with performances by Sting, Lyle Lovett, Sarah McLachlan, LP, Chantal Kreviazuk, Notifi, Wali Shah, and special appearances by War Child Ambassadors Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski, plus David Harbour, Troian Bellisario, Sheaun McKinney, Beth Behrs, Patrick J Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Ashley Park, and Rachael MacFarlane, alongside War Child’s staff, and stories about their programs throughout the world. Hosted by Entertainment Tonight Canada’s Sangita Patel, this powerful online evening will also feature a special cooking segment with Chef Mark McEwan, an exclusive silent auction, and an energetic live auction with the dynamic Layne the Auctionista.

“The pandemic has been challenging for us all, but that burden has been greatest among impoverished and marginalized communities,” says War Child Canada and USA Founder and President, Dr. Samantha Nutt. “This reality is particularly pronounced in the world’s war zones and refugee camps, where children and their families face daily struggles to meet even their most basic needs – food, water, shelter, health care and education.  We hope that this event will act as a powerful reminder that the best way to address this crisis is through mindful global cooperation and consideration, working together at every step to ensure that those who need help and support the most are not forgotten, wherever they live in the world.”

“Not many of us can remember a time as fraught as the one we find ourselves in now,” says War Child Ambassador and Actor, Thomas Sadoski. “But this can be our beacon: joining to help women and children rebuild their lives and their communities that have been shattered by war. The opportunity and support War Child provides helps communities rebuild from foundation to freedom. I’m so honored to join with this tremendous group of artists and humanitarians to support the courage and power of the women and children who inspire us to rise together.”

The COVID-19 pandemic is a global crisis that truly requires a global solution, particularly for the world’s most vulnerable. The impact of the pandemic on fragile communities already recovering from the shock of war and displacement has been significant, disrupting already under-equipped health services, driving up poverty and unemployment, and putting millions more children at risk of malnutrition and starvation. The educational gaps caused by COVID-disruptions to schooling in many of War Child’s countries of operations, will be felt for generations. All proceeds raised from this event will support War Child’s COVID-19 response programs for children and their families throughout the world.

RISE TOGETHER is Presented by The Slaight Family Foundation and sponsored by Bennett Jones, Mantella Corporation, OpenRoad Auto Group, Warner Music Canada, The Totten Wealth Advisory Group, BMO Wealth Management, Stonegate Private Counsel, Burstyn, Blackjet Agency, Impossible Studios, McEwan Group, ET Canada, Global TV, The Globe and Mail and Global Heroes Magazine.

Rise Together takes place on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. EST and is free to attend. Please register at www.warchild.ca/risetogether or www.warchildusa.org/risetogether.

Maggie Rogers announces Notes From The Archive: Recordings 2011-2016 out December 18

0

On December 18, GRAMMY Award-nominated producer/songwriter/performer Maggie Rogers will release Notes from the Archive: Recordings 2011 – 2016 — a 16-track retrospective featuring newly remastered versions of her nascent material, including six never-before-heard songs. Set to be the first release on Roger’s own record label, Debay Sounds via Caroline, this special collection closely documents the artistic evolution experienced on the way to creating her acclaimed debut Heard It In A Past Life.

Yesterday, Rogers appeared on “Sesame Street, joining the iconic lineup of musicians who’ve guest-starred on the show.

Originally from Maryland, Rogers attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and released her breakthrough EP Now That The Light Is Fading soon after graduating. Widely hailed as an artist to watch, she released her critically acclaimed Capitol Records debut album Heard It In A Past Life in January 2019 and immediately found tremendous success: entering Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart at No. 1 and debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the album earned praise from the likes of NPR, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, TIME Magazine, Vogue, and many more. Heard It In A Past Life also landed Rogers a nomination for Best New Artist at the 62nd GRAMMY Awards, and led to performances on major TV shows including “Saturday Night Live,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “Austin City Limits” and “Today.” In addition, Rogers has sold out headline tours across North America and Europe and performed at leading festivals worldwide. To date, Heard It In A Past Life has amassed over 564 million global streams.  Rogers is currently at work on her new album.

Today, Rogers shares a self-narrated visual to introduce Notes from the Archive and reveal the inspiration behind the project.

As Rogers explains in the video, Notes from the Archive took shape from a period of intense reflection on her path as an artist. The full audio is included on the commentary version of the album.

“So much of this record is about the process,” says Rogers. “It’s about honoring the time it takes to come to a full form…I wanted to give you the chance to hear me grow and hear me make mistakes, hear me change — because all of those pieces are really beautiful parts of my present, and I don’t feel complete without them in the world.”

Along with the six previously unreleased songs, Notes from the Archive features newly remastered versions of tracks from Rogers’s early albums, including Blood Ballet and The Echo. In arranging the project’s track listing, Rogers sequenced the songs in reverse chronological order, in an effort to showcase each distinct stage of her creative development. As she pointed out in her recent cover story for the newly launched Atmos magazine, Rogers found the process of revisiting her past work essential to the writing of her next album.

“I’ve known for a long time that this is something I had to do before I put out another record, because there’s a part of me that’s so deeply missing from the story right now: the 10 years of work that have led up to this moment,” Rogers told Atmos. “I have a whole body of work that I don’t want to leave behind. This record feels like honoring that work, putting the pieces of the story back together, finding my way from bisected to whole. Now, I’ve finally been given the space to let ideas develop and let myself develop. And as I’ve been working on a new record, I see the pieces all coming together and coming full circle.”

Renowned Guitarist and Toto Front Man Steve Lukather Talks About His ‘Life-Changing’ Decision to Wear Widex Moment Hearing Aids

0

Steve Lukather, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer, has been playing rock and roll since he was nine years old. “And when I was young, I played really loud,” he explained recently. Over the years, like many musicians, Lukather began to suffer from hearing loss. “But I learned to live with it,” he said. “I wore ear protection for 20 years, but it kept still getting worse, and normal life was hard for me to grasp. At night, I’d have the TV on full volume.”

Something had to change. A respected, award-winning studio musician, Lukather is best known as a founding member of the rock band Toto and has toured extensively with Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band. He’s played on albums from artists such as Boz Scaggs and Michael Jackson. “This is a way of life for me,” he said. “My ears are so important.” When Lukather mixed his most recent solo album, due out in February, he was wearing WIDEX EVOKE digital hearing aids. The experience was so exceptional, he upgraded this summer to the revolutionary new WIDEX MOMENT hearing aids with natural-sounding PureSound technology. “It’s really been life-changing,” he said.

Lukather’s long journey to adopting hearing aids is not uncommon, especially among musicians. According to the National Institutes of Health’s Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, 28.8 million U.S. adults could benefit from hearing aids. Yet, most people with hearing loss suffer through hearing problems an average of seven years before giving hearing technology a try.

“I was working so much, I never had time to really deal with it,” Lukather said. “My brain adjusted to the deficit the best it could.” And although he was used to wearing in-ear monitors when he performed, Lukather said he resisted hearing aids for years because he associated them with the large, bulky devices he’d seen other people wear.

After friend and Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford showed Lukather the small, in-ear hearing aids he wore (“I couldn’t even tell!”), Lukather was ready to take the next step and chose Danish hearing aid pioneer Widex for his first set.

“Suddenly, I’m hearing sounds I haven’t heard in 25 years,” Lukather said. “The new record sounds great. I worked on it with an engineer whose ears I really trust, and we were hearing the same things.”

Many hearing aids use generic amplification to address hearing loss. WIDEX MOMENT hearing aids, however, enable personalized hearing treatments by leveraging real-time artificial intelligence technology, allowing the audiologist to tailor their performance to each wearer’s preferences. MOMENT hearing aids also include cutting-edge PureSound processing to overcome artificial sound that can result when direct and amplified sound arrive at the eardrum out of sync.

“Everyone has different hearing frequency deficits, so my hearing doctor adjusted the EQ [equalization] for my particular pair,” Lukather said. “It took a while to get used to because I was hearing frequencies I hadn’t heard in so long. And I know some can be plastic-y sounding, but these WIDEX hearing aids are much better. And I can switch between settings depending on where I am and what I need to hear.”

WIDEX MOMENT hearing aids feature SoundSense Learn technology to automate the process of creating personalized settings based on a series of A-B tests and cloud-based artificial intelligence. Users can store the settings as programs in their smartphones and activate them throughout the day. Widex studies show that hearing aid users prefer the personalized settings achieved through artificial intelligence, and that 80% would recommend the function to others.

Lukather hopes his experience can influence others — musicians, people who love music, and anyone else with hearing loss.

“I know a lot of guys who are aware they could use hearing aids, but they’re afraid to try them,” Lukather said. “I get it. I’ve played loud for a half century; started to get tinnitus in 1986. I was a studio musician for like 25 years and had headphones on my head 14 hours a day, six days a week getting feedback. It’s not unlike a boxer who takes one punch too many. I’m ok saying I needed a hearing device and other guys should be, too. What? Am I supposed to be surprised by it after 50 years of rock and roll? You can’t even tell I’m wearing them.”

He’s right.
