Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd Star in Apple Original Limited Series “The Shrink Next Door”

0

Apple TV+ unveil a first look at the highly anticipated eight-episode limited series, “The Shrink Next Door.” The new dark comedy, featuring a star-studded cast led by Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd, who also serve as executive producers, will make its global debut Friday, November 12, 2021 on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes. New episodes will premiere weekly every Friday.

Inspired by true events, “The Shrink Next Door” details the bizarre relationship between psychiatrist to the stars Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (played by Rudd) and his longtime patient Martin “Marty” Markowitz (played by Ferrell). Over the course of their relationship, the all-too-charming Ike slowly inserts himself into Marty’s life, even moving into Marty’s Hamptons home and persuading Marty to name him president of the family business. The series explores how a seemingly normal doctor-patient dynamic morphs into an exploitative relationship filled with manipulation, power grabs, and dysfunction at its finest. The series also stars Kathryn Hahn as Phyllis, Marty’s younger sister, and Casey Wilson as Bonnie, the wife of Dr. Herschkopf.

Directed by Michael Showalter and Jesse Peretz, and based on the script by Emmy, Golden Globe, BAFTA, WGA Award winner Georgia Pritchett, “The Shrink Next Door” hails from Civic Center Media in association with MRC Television. The series is based on the No. 1 new podcast of 2019 by Wondery and Bloomberg Media.

In addition to starring, Ferrell and Rudd also serve as executive producers on the project.

Landmark QueensrĆæche Albums ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ And ‘Empire’ Due June 25 As Definitive Box Set Collections

0

OnĀ June 25, Capitol/UMe celebrates two landmark progressive metal albums byĀ QueensrĆæche. The breakthrough collectionĀ Operation: MindcrimeĀ and its successful follow-up,Ā Empire, will be released in multiple formats. In addition to the original versions remastered for CD and 180-gram vinyl 2LP, both titles will be available in expanded 2CD editions and in multi-disc CD+DVD box sets that stand as the final word on these albums, which carried the ambitious conceptual approach of such artists as The Who and Pink Floyd to a new decade and to a new hard rock audience.

Newly mastered at Abbey Road Studios, the deluxe versions of these remarkable albums bring together all the available recordings in 10′′ x 10′′ boxes that also contain DVDs of accompanying promotional videos and live performances of the albums. The live audio material revisits QueensrĆæche’s worldwide headlining status during the Building Empires Tour, an 18-month trek that saw the band headline arenas after previous high-profile supporting slots on theĀ Def LeppardĀ HysteriaĀ and MetallicaĀ And Justice For AllĀ tours. TheĀ Operation: MindcrimeĀ deluxe features live audio concerts fromĀ London’sĀ Hammersmith Odeon in 1990 andĀ Wisconsin’sĀ Target Center in 1991, plus a DVD that also includes the bonus track “The Making ofĀ Operation: Mindcrime” and anĀ Operation: MindcrimeĀ TV spot. TheĀ EmpireĀ deluxe version completes the Hammersmith Odeon 1990 concert with the live audio from the non-Mindcrime setlist.Ā Geoff Tate, inducted into the 2020 Metal Hall of Fame, sheds new light onĀ Operation: MindcrimeĀ andĀ EmpireĀ in extended interviews with noted journalistĀ Alex MilasĀ for the liner notes.

The deluxe versions ofĀ Operation: MindcrimeĀ (originally releasedĀ May 1988) andĀ EmpireĀ (originally releasedĀ August 1990) are available for preorder now. Ahead of — and leading up to — the releases, the celebration of these comprehensive box sets and releases includes a weekly premiere of remastered high-definition video on QueensrĆæche’s official YouTube channel,Ā HERE. With its sinister backdrops, a dramatic unfolding of characters and QueensrĆæche’s high-octane stage performance, the “Operation: Mindcrime” HD remastered video, available now, provides a glimpse into the album’s intricate concept. The HD remastered video rollout forĀ Operation: MindcrimeĀ continues with “Eyes Of A Stranger” (May 14) and GrammyĀ®-nominated single for Best Metal Performance “I Don’t Believe In Love” (May 21), all of which bring the plot to life. HD remastered video premieres fromĀ EmpireĀ are the title track, “Empire,” (May 28), “Best I Can” (June 4), “Anybody Listening?” (June 11), the GrammyĀ®-nominated No. 1 rock hit “Silent Lucidity” (June 18) and, on release day,Ā June 25, remastered HD videos will premiere for two more fan favorites “Another Rainy Night (Without You)” and “Jet City Woman.”

QueensrĆæche’s third studio album,Ā Operation: Mindcrime, took the quintet to an entirely new level. The concept, revealed through the songs, revolves around the character of Nikki, a recovering drug addict disillusioned with a corrupt society. Drawn into a cult-like revolutionary group headed by Dr. X (voiced by the late and beloved British actorĀ Anthony Valentine), Nikki is manipulated to assassinate political leaders until his friendship with nun Sister Mary finally opens his eyes to the truth. Regarded as one of the greatest concept metal albums of all time,Ā Operation: MindcrimeĀ was certified platinum in 1991 in the U.S. and was ranked in the Top 100 Metal Albums Of All Time by bothĀ Kerrang!Ā andĀ BillboardĀ magazines.Ā Rolling StoneĀ included it on a similar list, noting that “nearly 30 years after its initial release,Ā MindcrimeĀ feels eerily relevant.”

Reaching No. 7 on theĀ BillboardĀ album chart, the follow-up,Ā Empire, built upon the success ofĀ Operation: Mindcrime. Produced, like its predecessor, byĀ Peter CollinsĀ (Bon Jovi, Rush,Ā Alice Cooper), the collection features brilliant and intelligent lyrics and songwriting complemented by incredible musicianship, with songs ranging from beautiful ballads to strong melodic rockers and classic heavy fist-pumpers. A rarity at the time,Ā EmpireĀ spawned six singles that lit upĀ Billboard‘sĀ rock tracks chart with the Top 10 hits “Silent Lucidity” (#1), “Jet City Woman” (#6), “Another Rainy Night (Without You) (#7) and Top 30 hits “Anybody Listening? (#16), “Empire” (#22) and “Best I Can” (#28). The power ballad “Silent Lucidity” was the band’s first crossover hit, topping theĀ BillboardĀ rock singles chart and reaching No. 9 on theĀ BillboardĀ Hot 100. “Silent Lucidity” also earned a GrammyĀ® nomination for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group and received an MTV “Viewer’s Choice” award. RIAA-certified triple-platinum,Ā EmpireĀ is the band’s most commercially successful album to date.

Progressive metal greats QueensrĆæche emerged fromĀ Bellevue, Washington, in 1982 and have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.

SirĀ Rod Stewart CBEĀ is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with more than 250 million records sold worldwide during a stellar career that includes hits in all genres of popular music from Rock, Folk, R&B and even the American Standards.

This versatility has made him one of the few stars to enjoy chart-topping albums throughout every decade of his career, now spanning over fifty years.Ā In 2016, he was alsoĀ knighted for services to music and charity, adding to his countless accolades, which includeĀ two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the ASCAP Founders Award for songwriting,Ā New York TimesĀ bestselling author, and Grammyā„¢ Living Legend.

Born inĀ North LondonĀ with Scottish Celtic roots, SirĀ Rod StewartĀ has one of the most distinctive voices in music. That voice was first heard in the early 60’s withĀ Long John Baldry, Steampacket and Shotgun Express, as well as in his seminal work withĀ Jeff BeckĀ and the legendary rock band The Faces.

He went on to have a stellar solo career recording a string of some of the biggest hits in music including “Maggie May,” “Forever Young,” “Rhythm of My Heart,” “Tonight’s the Night,” “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy.”

The 2000’s saw Sir Rod record five acclaimed volumes of his “Great American Songbook” series pushing his career into unchartered territory and is the biggest selling on-going series of new music recordings in history.

Sir Rod also recently revisited some of his greatest hits with “You’re in My Heart:Ā Rod StewartĀ with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.” The album is a timeless record that retains the power, soul and passion and spent three weeks at the top of the charts making it Sir Rod’s tenth Number One album; a milestone achievement in an already impressive career.

One of the most loved entertainers worldwide, Sir Rod recently completed his biggest UK tour ever as well as aĀ Las VegasĀ residency at Caesars Palace. His sell out UK tour received rave reviews with the Telegraph commenting, “while so many of his contemporaries have announced retirements, Sir Rod keeps rocking on.”

Since its premiere in August of 2011, “Rod Stewart: The Hits.” hasĀ remained one of the best-reviewed and must-see shows on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Worst Music Festival of All Time Is….

0

Fyre Fest, Woodstock ’99, Altamont… there have been many great festival disasters over the years. But none of these come even close to 1972’s Erie Canal & Soda Pop Festival (Also known as “Bull Island.”) The lack of preparedness, the lawlessness, the desperation of the crowd; it’s like the bad-acid trip version of Woodstock where everything burns down.

Originally released July 2, 1996 on Columbia Records, It Was Written, Nas’ second studio album, signaled a paradigm shift in the world of hip-hop, redefining the game for generations to come. Adding radical new narrative and musical dimensions to the raw underground hardcore ethos Nas had established with Illmatic, his 1994 studio debut (recorded June 1992 – February 1993 in NYC), It Was Written was both a landmark album and a flashpoint event in East Coast hip-hop history. An immediate commercial success, It Was Written debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, selling more than a quarter million copies its first week in stores. The album’s hit singles included “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)” and “Street Dreams,” each becoming an enduring hip-hop anthem. Newly certified RIAA triple platinum, It Was Written is the top-selling album of Nas’ career.

Both the “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)” and “Street Dreams” music videos have been up-graded to high resolution HD video for the It Was Written 25th anniversary and will premiere Friday, July 2.

Executive produced by Nas, Steve Stoute, and Trackmasters, It Was Written marked the first appearance of hip-hop supergroup The Firm featuring Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ, and Cormega. The album’s cinematic soundscape showcased a hip-hop who’s who of guest artists and producers including Dave Atkinson, Delight, DJ Kid Capri, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, Kirk Goddy, Havoc, Joel “JoJo” Hailey (of K-Ci & JoJo). L.E.S., Live Squad, J. Parker, Poke & Tone, Rashad Smith, Richard Travali, Kurt Walker and others.

While Nas’ epic narratives were bringing the reality of East Coast rap mafiosa street life into the pop music mainstream, his musical collaboration with Compton rap icon Dr. Dre (who cowrote and produced the album’s “Nas Is Coming” track) added an historic new twist to hip-hop’s ongoing East Coast/West Coast rap feud.
