How Students Can Improve Writing Skills for University

0

Introduction

Writing is a skill expected from all students, in particular when one joins the university. After all, every class will require you to complete an essay, coursework, or research paper to demonstrate the knowledge you have acquired in a course. Unfortunately, a majority of students come unprepared from high school for the high expectations set in the university. Writing, like another skill, requires one to learn and practice it, so do not be worried. Essayzoo share several tips that you can follow for significant improvement in your writing skills.

Practice again and again for better performance

Practice and more practice are among the main tips on how to improve writing. Every skill you would want to enhance gets better with practice. Begin by having small writing sessions where you compose 100-word passages or more every day on a particular subject. At first, it may seem challenging to come up with ideas but keep at it as the more you complete such passages, the better your writing becomes.

Also, take up extra assignments of different genres to help you bring ideas together to make excellent content.

You can search for essays for sale

Essays for sale from Essayzoo can help improve your writing. By reading the papers, and identifying aspects that make them perfect, you can learn how to formulate sentences, bring ideas together, as well as how to use different words and phrases. Therefore, you improve your writing skills.

Identify a favorable environment to work

Finding a quiet place to conduct your writing is one of the teaching recommendations on improving writing skills. Distraction is an enemy of writing as it makes it challenging to come up with ideas or assemble them into a quality paper. To produce an excellent piece of writing, identify a quiet place, and make it your writing spot.

It may be the library, a coffee shop, or study room at home. Whichever it is, ensure that you can concentrate on your work and no many people or activities are going on around you.

Practice good time management

University education can be overwhelming as you have to juggle a full course load and extracurricular activities. So, you must learn how to manage your time. Most professors assign assignments a few days or weeks before the deadline. To improve writing skills, learn to breakdown your projects into small workable parts you can work on every day until complete.

Prioritize assignments with shorter deadlines and ensure the rest have adequate time for you to work on them. By doing this, you will have acquired a valuable skill for the future.

Carry out an in-depth research

To complete university essays and research papers, you will have to present accurate information. The facts and evidence you rely on in your writing should be objective and be from reputable resources. As described by Jagran Josh, use the school library as your foundation for research. The books, articles, and newspapers available will provide you with a wealth of information. You can also rely on the internet, peer-reviewed articles and journals as your other avenues of researching.

Also, collect reliable and relevant references to back up your assertions and arguments in your writing.

Keep in mind your audience

The person or individuals your writing focuses on are essential in advancing your college writing skills. If it meets their expectations or piques their interest by touching on crucial aspects to them, you are sure of passing in the course. Since your professor will be the one reading your assignment, make sure that you touch on the various perspectives that they appreciate about the task.

Even when you do not agree with their opinion, target the message of your assignment to them, and you will have perfected your skills in writing.

Do not shy away from second drafts

As a student, you may be surprised at how many writing companies exist that can write an essay for you. Such writing services work with expert writers who produce papers according to your instructions. However, if you want to improve your writing skills, be ready to rewrite your paper. By now, you should be aware that the first draft of your paper will not be perfect. Do not give up hope as writing is a process that follows various steps. If you do not like your first draft, you can write a second one. Writing a second draft, according to experts, helps you to make fewer mistakes and have an improved paper in the end that makes you happy.

Proofreading and editing

Proofreading and editing are among the list of writing skills you should possess if you want to improve your writing skills. These two elements are crucial in the writing process as they help perfect your work and complete it. Always ensure that you go through your writing after you put the final full stop. Correct every tiny and silly mistake you have made such as punctuation, spelling, and grammar mistakes. Also, be on the lookout for improper sentences, irrelevant information, or complicated words. You want your writing to be readable and understandable.

Get a second opinion of your work

Once you feel satisfied with the work you have produced, give it to a friend, roommate, or someone you have faith in to go through it. Having fresh eyes on your work helps in identifying mistakes you may have overlooked during your writing process. Such an individual can give you a critical review of your work as opposed to you. Also, fresh eyes help you to improve the quality of your work while also giving you new insights that are valuable in writing.

Conclusion

If there is a time you need to know how to write and perfect this skill is when you are in university. For many students, it is a stressful endeavor. However, writing is not foreign. It is a necessary skill, which with practice, again and again, you can perfect it. It plays a significant role in university education; thus, you have to harness them. By following up on these tips, you are sure of acing your writing assignments all through college.

5 Tips On How To Become A Lyricist

0

The world is always looking for a better lyricist, whether you are a beginner or have been writing lyrics for a while. Hire professionals who provide music essay writing help if you are stuck with your school assignment or project.

A good lyricist is one who understands the needs of the market. Feedback from your work will come from singers, listeners, and producers. It leaves you with the responsibility of satisfying these parties. Further, you must have long term goals and seek to create lyrics that will still be relevant several decades down the line.

  1. Befriend Poetry

Music is at times regarded as melodic poetry. The reference stems from the fact that both music and poetry use stanzas, rhymes, and symbolism. Read poetry and learn how to create poetic verses that will capture the attention of your listeners. The most successful singers and lyricists have learned to embrace the styles of successful poets. This copying helps them to produce compelling verses that resonate with listeners.

A lyricist may be telling a story or addressing a particular theme. The writer will still infuse poetry in the story. Beyond reading real poetry, study how other lyricists have used poetry in their songs. Such study teaches you how to modify the written poetry into rhymes that are useful in music.

  1. Work With A Mentor

A mentor guides you through the processes of creating lyrics for your songs. Established and experienced lyricists hold masterclasses targeting upcoming lyricists. You may also understudy the lyricists without getting into direct contact with them. The mentor-lyricists work directly with song producers and singers. Their understanding of the industry will prove to be an asset on your part.

Join a team of upcoming lyricists who will help you develop your own skills. Co-creation and peer review helps you to become a better lyricist and also introduces you to opportunities that will bring you a fortune. Peers encourage you and will critique your work so that you can improve over time. They will not intimidate you because they are either mentors or peers traveling the same journey.

  1. Write

Being a lyricist is an art. It takes a lot of practice to hit the top of your game. It does not come by wishing or even reading about how to write song lyrics. Begin to write about the songs and ideas in your head. It is through practice that you discover your challenges and find solutions to these challenges. Set aside sufficient time to write your lyrics.

Remain alert to the inspiring moments you encounter along the way of life. Inspiration will come from your experiences, experiences by friends, or futuristic thoughts, among other avenues. Cease the moments and jot down a few lyrics that will enhance your writing.

  1. Master The Language Of Your Target Audience

Lyrics are in a particular language. Language means word choices, symbolism, and expressions that listeners or the singer can recognize. If your target audience cannot identify with your words or phrases, the lyrics will not have any impact.

  1. Consider The Style Of Your Target Singer

Lyricists write with particular singers in mind. Each singer has a preferred theme, rhyme pattern, and choice of words. The rhymes and lyrics will only be appropriate if the singer can deliver them accurately. Work with the singer or producer to align the lyrics to the desires of a singer and his target audience.

Since not everyone will appreciate your lyrics, you must identify a specific target. Take criticisms positively, and your writing skills will improve. Identify a unique style and perfect it as you carve your place in the industry.

How to Get a Consolidation Loan with Bad Credit: What You Need to Know

0

Having bad credit and getting a loan isn’t impossible. But it isn’t easy, either. Learn how to get a consolidation loan with bad credit, today!

When you’re overburdened with debt, it can be easy to get discouraged. You’re constantly called by creditors and they contact your friends and family when you don’t answer.

They may threaten you with civil court proceedings. You’re paying many different places each month and it’s hard to keep track. It would be nice to have one single loan to deal with, but you don’t know how to get a debt consolidation loan with bad credit.

You’ve missed payments and your credit score is low, so how can you get a loan? Don’t worry, we’ll explain how you can get a consolidation loan despite your bad credit.

How to Get a Debt Consolidation Loan with Bad Credit

The hardest part of being in debt to several different places such as credit card companies is keeping track of everything. You may have $2000 in debt to one card that’s due on the 12th of each month and $4,000 to another card due on the 15th, etc.

You could have seven different payment amounts due on seven different days. A debt consolidation loan removes all those dates and lets you cover everything in one loan.

When you have bad credit, you can struggle to find a lender that will give you a loan at an interest rate that’s better than the credit cards, but you can do it.

Research Your Options

There are many different lenders out in the world and with the Internet, that number increased 10 fold. If you have a credit score of about 580, then you’ll likely be able to find a lender online or locally that will provide you with a debt consolidation loan.

With a score below 580, it is more difficult, but don’t give up. Each lender such as Bonsai Finance has different criteria for their loans and you may find one that will give you money. Keep in mind the interest rates are likely higher, but it might be worth it to get the debt off your back.

Consider Using Collateral

When a lender looks at your credit score, it’s evaluating your risk. The lower the score means the higher the risk of default. If you have some type of collateral to put up against the debt consolidation loan, then you can lower your overall risk.

For example, you can use the equity in your home or the title of your car. If you default on the loan, then the bank can take the house or the car and sell it to recoup some of the lost money.

You may not want to risk these items, but it may be the only way to get approved for a loan.

Get a Co-signer for the Loan

Do you have a close relative that has a good credit score? They might be able to lower your credit risk by co-signing for the loan. This means they attach themselves to the loan, so if you default, they’re responsible for picking up the slack.

Be careful because if you default and they’re forced to take over, then it can cause animosity.

You Can Get Out of Debt

If you wonder how to get a debt consolidation loan with bad credit, then this article hopefully answered your questions. It’s possible to get ahead of debt, so don’t give up.

ICYMI: City and Colour Announces Canadian Tour

0

City and Colour, acclaimed singer, songwriter and performer Dallas Green, debuts a new song, “Astronaut”, this summer, and was produced by three-time Grammy-winning Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Norah Jones) and mastered by Emily Lazar (Beck, Coldplay, Dolly Parton, The Chainsmokers), the first female mastering engineer to win a Grammy for best engineered album (2019). “Astronaut” is the first original music from City and Colour in almost four years and is featured on his upcoming 6th studio album to be released this Fall on Green’s newly minted Still Records, an imprint of Dine Alone Records.

“I always think of the relationships in my life that have been fractured because I ended up doing what I do for a living,” says Green regarding the inspiration for the new song. “I’m always gone, wandering around and singing songs. However, it weighs on my family and friends. I’m asking for ‘one more year’. I left home at 21 to go play my guitar. It’s lonely, but it’s because I yearn to wander. I’m aware of how lucky I am.”

A North American tour was also announced alongside previously announced summer festivals. A Canadian arena tour kicks off in Victoria, BC on November 8 and ends on the opposite coast in Halifax on November 29. Each ticket, purchased online, for the Canadian tour includes the choice of a digital or physical CD copy of the forthcoming full-length album. Purchasers will receive instructions via email upon ticket purchase, detailing how to redeem the album. Joining City and Colour as support is Nigerian-born British singer-songwriter Jacob Banks, and B.C. based songwriter Ben Rogers, the first signing to Green’s Still Records.

A U.S. run kicks off October 9 and features 2 back-to-back nights in Nashville, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and New York. One night in each city will take place in a seated theatre, featuring Green performing an intimate solo show with stripped-down iterations of songs spanning his award-winning catalogue – something fans have been requesting for years. The additional night in each city will take place in general admission rock venues and feature Green performing with his full touring band. Supporting City and Colour in the U.S. will be Ben Rogers (solo shows) and alternative singer-songwriter Ruby Waters (full band shows). In keeping with Green’s penchant for showcasing emerging artists that he believes strongly in, he personally chose both Rogers and Waters as openers.

Both the Canadian and U.S. tours will go on sale Friday, June 7 at 10am local time, 1pm local time in Regina, SK. Pre-sales will begin starting Tuesday, June 4. Visit cityandcolour.com for specific details for each city.

Alongside these accomplishments, Green has been awarded four Platinum-certified studio albums as a member of Alexisonfire. The LP also made serious waves internationally debuting at #16 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart and #5 in Australia where Green’s LP Little Hell was certified GOLD. Video: Toronto Raptors Unveil Name and Logo in 1994

0

When the newly-minted NBA basketball team in Toronto started to think about their name, initial sentiment was in favour of reviving the Huskies nickname, but team management realized it would be nearly impossible to design a logo that did not substantially resemble that of the Minnesota Timberwolves. As a result, a nationwide contest was held to help name the team and develop their colours and logo. Over 2,000 entries were narrowed down to eleven prospects: Beavers, Bobcats, Dragons, Grizzlies, Hogs, Raptors, Scorpions, T-Rex, Tarantulas, Terriers and Towers (the eventual runner-up).

The final selection—Toronto Raptors—was unveiled on Canadian national television on May 15, 1994, with the choice was influenced by the popularity of the 1993 film adaption of the 1990 science fiction novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton.

My Next Read: More Fun in the New World: The Unmaking and Legacy of L.A. Punk

0

Picking up where Under the Big Black Sun left off, More Fun in the New World explores the years 1982 to 1987, covering the dizzying pinnacle of L.A.’s punk rock movement as its stars took to the national — and often international — stage. Detailing the eventual splintering of punk into various sub-genres, the second volume of John Doe and Tom DeSavia’s west coast punk history portrays the rich cultural diversity of the movement and its characters, the legacy of the scene, how it affected other art forms, and ultimately influenced mainstream pop culture. The book also pays tribute to many of the fallen soldiers of punk rock, the pioneers who left the world much too early but whose influence hasn’t faded.

As with Under the Big Black Sun, the book features stories of triumph, failure, stardom, addiction, recovery, and loss as told by the people who were influential in the scene, with a cohesive narrative from authors Doe and DeSavia. Along with many returning voices, More Fun in the New World weaves in the perspectives of musicians Henry Rollins, Fishbone, Billy Zoom, Mike Ness, Jane Weidlin, Keith Morris, Dave Alvin, Louis Pérez, Charlotte Caffey, Peter Case, Chip Kinman, Maria McKee, and Jack Grisham, among others. And renowned artist/illustrator Shepard Fairey, filmmaker Allison Anders, actor Tim Robbins, and pro-skater Tony Hawk each contribute chapters on punk’s indelible influence on the artistic spirit.

In addition to stories of success, the book also offers a cautionary tale of an art movement that directly inspired commercially diverse acts such as Green Day, Rancid, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco, and Neko Case. Readers will find themselves rooting for the purists of punk juxtaposed with the MTV-dominating rock superstars of the time who flaunted a “born to do this, it couldn’t be easier” attitude that continued to fuel the flames of new music. More Fun in the New World follows the progression of the first decade of L.A. punk, its conclusion, and its cultural rebirth.

My Next Read: Up Jumped the Devil: The Real Life of Robert Johnson

0

Robert Johnson’s recordings, made in 1936 and 1937, have profoundly influenced generations of singers, guitarists, and songwriters. Yet until now, his short life—he was murdered at the age of 27—has been poorly documented. Gayle Dean Wardlow has been interviewing people who knew Johnson since the early 1960s, and he was the person who discovered Johnson’s death certificate in 1967. Bruce Conforth began his study of Johnson’s life and music in 1970 and made it his mission to fill in what was still unknown about him. In this definitive biography, the two authors relied on every interview, resource, and document, much of it material no one has seen before. This is the first book about Johnson that documents his lifelong relationship with family and friends in Memphis, details his trip to New York, uncovers where and when his wife Virginia died and the impact this had on him, fully portrays the other women Johnson was involved with, and tells exactly how and why he died and who gave him the poison that killed him. Up Jumped the Devil will astonish blues fans worldwide by painting a living, breathing portrait of a man who was heretofore little more than a legend.

Jerry Garcia’s Music Featured in World Music Compilation “Annapurna’s Song, Music of the Himalayas”

0

This year, to honor Jerry Garcia on his Aug. 1 birthday, the Jerry Garcia Foundation is happy to announce that it has partnered with Seven Seas Music to produce its first musical release, “Annapurna’s Song, Music of the Himalayas,” a compilation of music from the Himalayan region consisting of 12 recorded tracks.

“Annapurna’s Song, Music of the Himalayas” is planned for release on Sept. 28, 2019 and will be available through regular digital platforms.

The compilation will include “Clouds,” a tune featuring Jerry Garcia on guitar. “Clouds” was composed by Indian musician Sanjay Mishra, and recorded in 1995 at the Grateful Dead’s Club Front studio in San Rafael, California. The song was originally released on Mishra’s “Blue Incantation” album.

All proceeds from the upcoming release will benefit the American Himalayan Foundation.

Jerry’s family members, his daughter, Keelin Garcia, and wife, Manasha Garcia, are working to produce the project with Brooke Wentz, founder and CEO of Seven Seas Music, an international music catalogue. Brooke received a Billboard Award in 1994 for producing the best International album of the decade: Global Meditation – Authentic Music from Meditative Traditions of the World.

The American Himalayan Foundation was founded in 1981 by a small group of climbers who were originally drawn to Nepal for its mountains and have continued to return to the region, inspired by their love for the people. Their organization helps create a positive impact on the education, health and opportunity for the Himalayan people.

The album title was inspired by a mountain located in Nepal named Annapurna. The name is derived from Sanskrit meaning “the giver of food and nourishment.” Anna (अन्न) means “food” or “grains” and pūrṇa (पूर्ण) means “full, complete and perfect.” Many streams flowing from the slopes of the Annapurna Massif provide water for the farms and pastures located at lower altitudes.

Martin Guitar Announces Partnership with D’Addario on Playback String Recycling Program

0

C. F. Martin & Co. announces their official partnership with D’Addario on the Playback string recycling program. Recognizing a growing need in the industry, D’Addario developed the program as a means to recycle guitar and orchestral strings, which are not accepted through municipal recycling programs. With over 3.9 million strings recycled to date, Playback has been widely successful, offering local string recycling centers at dealers, or the option to mail in used strings. The collaboration is a precise pairing, aligning with Martin’s commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Environmental impact is something Martin takes seriously. They have programs in place at the factory to recycle string waste, sound holes, sawdust, and more, and over 85% of their guitars are built from sustainably sourced wood. With their logo on recycling containers and signage at local string recycling centers, Martin will have a clear presence in the Playback program.

The Playback program is powered by TerraCycle, an international upcycling and recycling company that aims to transform waste into new materials and products. After the strings are collected, they go through a process to separate the metal and nylon strings; the metal strings are melted down and smelted into new alloys, while the nylon strings are recycled into plastic applications. With over 330 string recycling centers across the U.S. at local musical instrument dealers, it makes it easy for any musician to repurpose their guitar or orchestral strings responsibly.

Martin maintains an unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible manufacturing practices and is the first in the Musical Instrument Industry to receive B Corp Status. Martin continually drives the acoustic guitar market forward, introducing innovative features that have become standards across the industry. These groundbreaking innovations include the introduction of X-bracing, the 14-fret guitar, and the “Dreadnought” size guitar.
