Femme Fatale Ignite with Fiery New Single “Bad Love”

0

Femme Fatale are back and blazing brighter than ever. Decades after setting the Sunset Strip on fire with their self-titled debut, the iconic 80s glam-metal outfit return with their explosive new single “Bad Love.” Fronted by the unstoppable Lorraine Lewis, the track follows their comeback single “Living Like There’s No Tomorrow,” which made waves earlier this year. With “Bad Love,” Femme Fatale have reignited the spark that made them one of rock’s most magnetic forces.

Directed by Vicente Cordero and filmed by David Hernandez, the video for “Bad Love” is pure visual adrenaline. True to its name, the production features real flames, fire performers, and even a special appearance by Eva Angelina, a real firefighter from the adult industry. “And yes,” Lorraine confirms. “That’s real fire. We also brought in some incredible fire performers and even a real firefighter from the adult industry named Eva Angelina. Without giving too much away, let’s just say the video is HOTTT!”

Written by Lorraine alongside guitarist and producer Steve Brown and guitarist David Julian, “Bad Love” dives deep into the tension between passion and danger. “It’s about that magnetic kind of connection you know isn’t good for you, but you keep going back anyway,” Lorraine explains. “It’s messy, it’s addictive, and it’s real. I wanted to capture that push-and-pull between desire and self-preservation. We’ve all been there. We see the red flag and still jump in headfirst… but if that red flag’s on fire? Baby, that’s your cue to run.”

Steve Brown brought together an all-star lineup for the track, featuring Joey Cassata on drums, Sean McNabb on bass, and a blistering guitar solo from Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal. The result is a hard-hitting anthem that channels the spirit of classic Femme Fatale while pushing their sound into scorching new territory.

As Lorraine puts it best, “There’s no faking that heat.” “Bad Love” is proof that Femme Fatale’s fire never faded — it’s only grown hotter.

Rachael Sage & The Sequins Release Heartfelt New Folk-Pop Album ‘Canopy’

0

Beloved folk-pop artist Rachael Sage and her longtime band The Sequins have unveiled their radiant new album Canopy via MPress Records. A beacon of hope and compassion, Canopy explores themes of acceptance, inclusivity, and emotional safety through songs that shimmer with humanity and heart. Across its 14 tracks, Sage channels her signature blend of Americana, pop, and neo-folk into a project that feels both deeply personal and powerfully universal.

“Canopy is the first album that I feel reflects every aspect of my artistry, not only as a singer, producer, and musician, but also as a songwriter,” shares Sage. “I’d like to say this is because the album is full of brand-new songs, but some of them were composed when I was a teenager or in my 20’s. The title track just fell out after one too many late-night doomscrolls where the amount of violence and discord I digested in the span of a few minutes was so intense and so demoralizing that I wanted to crawl into a hole and stay there. They’re among the most honest lyrics I’ve ever written, but it very quickly formed an almost visceral image of an entire album focused on inclusiveness, acceptance, safety and empathy started to crystallize in my mind.”

In celebration of release week, Sage has also shared the video for “Live It Up,” a joyous behind-the-scenes glimpse at her band in their element. Inspired by Dionne Farris’ hit “I Know,” the video captures spontaneous moments of laughter, connection, and creativity, echoing the spirit of the song — a reminder to find joy and unity in everyday collaboration.

Produced by Rachael Sage alongside GRAMMY-nominated engineer Mikhail Pivovarov, Canopy features performances from a talented roster of longtime collaborators including Kelly Halloran (Goo Goo Dolls), Trina Hamlin (Susan Werner), and Ward Williams (Sara Bareilles). Mixed by Pivovarov and GRAMMY-winner Andy Zulla (Kelly Clarkson, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross), the record brims with warmth and empathy.

“When I recorded the songs with my band The Sequins it really felt like a metaphor; this group of beautiful, brilliant humans have been and continue to be a kind of shelter and safe place for me,” Sage concludes. “We are all very good friends and there’s a solidness and sense of gratitude when we come together that just felt like a kind of antidote in these chaotic times, so I decided to debut our Rachael Sage & The Sequins moniker for the first time with this recording. It’s so nice to be able to give them their ‘flowers’ as being an integral part of the arrangement and performances on these tracks – and I hope listeners can feel how the affection we have in and out of the studio is embedded on Canopy.”

Cure’s Robert Smith on guitar. The track is the first glimpse of the band’s long-awaited album arriving in 2026 and channels the emotional storm of grief, love, and mental illness through a haunting, propulsive sound.

Singer and lyricist James Graham shares, “Waiting For The Phone Call is about grief, love, and mental illness. These things took over my life and I became ill. I lost the person most important to me in one of the cruellest ways. I’ve always used writing as a method of processing and coping with my emotions. My emotions became a problem and I couldn’t control them, writing music with Andy… especially the past seven years had been both the escape and the opportunity to process and try and make sense of life. We’ve all been waiting on a phone call that can change our lives at some point. This unfortunately focuses on a phone call that you never want to have.”

Tony Banks Book Celebrates the Magician of Genesis

0

Tony Banks, the visionary keyboardist and songwriter behind Genesis, is finally getting his own spotlight in Tony Banks: Man of Spells – The Magician of Genesis. Written by Italian music journalist Mario Giammetti, the book explores the life and artistry of one of rock’s most creative forces. Giammetti, who has already penned 15 books about Genesis, including Genesis – 1967 to 1975: The Peter Gabriel Years and Genesis – 1975 to 2025: The Phil Collins Years, brings his deep knowledge and insight to this long-overdue profile.

The new release dives into both Banks’s monumental career with Genesis and his often-underappreciated solo work, offering a complete view of an artist whose compositions helped shape progressive rock’s golden age. The book is based on extensive interviews conducted by Giammetti over the years with Banks and others close to him, painting a detailed and personal portrait of the musician’s evolution.

More than 100 images are featured throughout the book, including rare and previously unseen photographs that bring readers closer to the creative world of Banks. For fans, it’s both a visual archive and an intimate chronicle of one of rock’s great minds.

“While there have been various books written by or about all the other major players in Genesis, there has until now never been one focused exclusively on Tony Banks,” says Gregory Spawton, co-owner of Kingmaker Publishing. “We felt it was important to shine a brighter light on his life and career.”

Tony Banks: Man of Spells – The Magician of Genesis will be released on February 19 and is available now for preorder, inviting Genesis fans and music lovers alike to rediscover the man whose spellbinding sound helped define an era.

Indie Pop Artist Julie Neff Unveils Striking Video for “fine!?”

0

Julie Neff enters a new chapter with the release of the music video for “fine!?”, the first single from her upcoming debut album, arriving in 2026. Known for her cinematic storytelling and heartfelt lyricism, Neff delivers a visual that radiates both emotion and elegance.

Directed by Jader Chahine with co-direction by Pedro Lacerda and cinematography by Carol Bonsi, the video brings to life the gold and kintsugi-inspired visuals from the album’s cover art. “For the video I wanted to bring in the gold elements and references to kintsugi present on the cover, but with a more dramatic look for the outfit. The idea that you can put on as much makeup or fancy clothes as you want, but it won’t erase the pain that is happening internally,” Julie explains.

Taking cues from Adele’s “Send My Love,” the video evolves with intensity, reflecting the emotional current that drives “fine!?”. Through expressive performances and layered visuals, Julie captures the quiet turbulence of living with anxiety and the strength it takes to face it openly.

“After years of living with chronic pain, illness, depression, and anxiety, I realized that the perception of ‘having everything under control’ can be dangerous,” she shares. “‘fine!?’ is my attempt to understand and give shape to that feeling, that pain — to make sense of it for myself and others. It’s a step toward allowing myself to be imperfect in front of people and to admit when things aren’t okay.”

With three EPs already released and a full-length debut on the horizon, Julie Neff continues to merge honesty with artistry. “fine!?” reflects her creative depth and courage, blending vulnerability with beauty in both sound and vision.

Spotify Brings Venues to Center Stage With New Live Events Feed

0

Spotify is turning up the volume on live music discovery once again. Earlier this year, the streaming giant launched Concerts Near You, helping over 3 million listeners find shows from their favorite artists. Now, it’s taking things one step further by letting fans follow their favorite venues, explore new ones, and browse upcoming lineups—all without leaving the app.

The refreshed Live Events feed is a music lover’s dream. Updated daily instead of weekly, it brings you the most relevant concerts in your area, from intimate bar gigs to sold-out arena tours. Spotify’s new system connects what you listen to with where you live, turning your Library into a personalized concert calendar. Following a venue saves it right to your profile, unlocking tailored suggestions for similar spots you might love.

And when you find a concert you can’t miss, purchasing tickets is as easy as tapping through to the event’s official ticketing partner. With over 20,000 venues around the globe—from historic theaters to independent clubs—Spotify is making live music accessible, discoverable, and downright exciting.

This feature also puts local culture front and center. Every city has its own heartbeat, and live shows keep that pulse alive. Whether it’s an iconic night at Brooklyn Paramount, a high-energy set at Bataclan, or a dream gig at Oxford Art Factory, these are the stages that make music memories happen. By following venues on Spotify, listeners aren’t just discovering more concerts—they’re helping sustain the communities that make those concerts possible.

Spotify’s newest evolution isn’t just about what you hear—it’s about where you go to hear it. And now, your next great night of live music might start right from your Spotify homepage.

Notes.fm Helps Artists Find the Money Their Music Made

0

Notes.fm, a new platform from Stem co-founder Tim Luckow, officially launches publicly today with a mission to solve one of the most prominent issues in the music industry: unclaimed ‘black box’ royalties.

Notes.fm uses an artist-friendly, automated process to simplify a notoriously complex and outdated system that has historically led to hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties going unclaimed by artists every year. Notes.fm brings clarity to the complexity, requiring only an artist name and musician name to start scanning streaming services, collection societies, and registries like the MLC to not only identify missing royalties but to fix issues and directly claim the royalties that result from those corrections while ensuring future income flows correctly.

Notes.fm’s beta includes over 400 artists of every size, from established stars like Mt. Joy, James Blake and Girl In Red to legacy estates like Howlin’ Wolf and emerging artists like Adam Melchor and Anna Wise. Over the course of Notes.fm’s year-long private beta the platform identified over $10 million in missing or unclaimed royalties from songs representing more than 50 billion streams. For artists utilizing the platform to fix issues, Notes.fm has directly claimed an average of $15,500 per artist to date, taking money out of the so-called black box and putting it in the artist’s and songwriter’s bank accounts where it belongs.

“When it comes to music royalties, complexity is the enemy,” said Tim Luckow, CEO and cofounder of Notes.fm. “For over a century, musicians have struggled to get paid because of disconnected systems that were not designed for the digital streaming era. Notes.fm fixes that, handling the complex work in the background so artists can focus on the music. Every musician deserves every dollar they’ve earned, and we’re here to make sure that happens.”

Using Notes.fm, Mt. Joy has collected six figures in royalties directly across fixed historical registrations and new registrations for songs like ‘Highway Queen’, which was the first song to secure 100% royalty registration from delivery by Notes.fm upon its release last year and has since gone on to amass over 30 million streams across DSPs.

In another prominent instance, James Blake used Notes.fm to discover that roughly a quarter of all of the songs in his catalog had missing or incomplete registrations, leading to unclaimed royalties across these works.

Luckow, who helped redefine independent music distribution through his founding of Stem – which sold to Concord earlier this year –says Notes.fm represents the next leap forward: from “easily release your music” to “easily claim 100% of your money.” Where Stem empowered independence in distribution, Notes.fm is building an entirely new lane through a unifying framework for music credits and royalties, connecting the fragmented worlds of recordings, publishing, and performance rights in a single easy-to-use workflow.

The launch of Notes.fm comes at a critical moment. The U.S. Copyright Office is preparing for the redistribution of more than $100 million in unmatched ‘black box’ royalties through the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) likely in the next 12 months. Without proper registration or claims, much of that money risks being redistributed to major stakeholders based on market share rather than the artists who earned them. Notes.fm aims to prevent that outcome by giving every artist, from emerging musicians to arena headliners, a simple path to claim their share.

“What sets Notes.fm apart is its ability to move artists and their teams from insight to action,” says Steve Bursky, Founder/Partner at Foundations and an early investor in Notes.fm. “Rather than merely flagging unclaimed royalties, Notes.fm empowers users to identify, correct, and directly recover what’s rightfully theirs, representing a fundamental leap forward in artist-first rights management.”

Notes.fm’s founding team is rounded out by co-founders Derek Davies (Neon Gold, Futures Music Group) and Montalis Anglade (Soulection). The platform is now officially open to the public, inviting all artists to try it and see what’s available for them to claim from their catalog.   Notes.fm forgoes participation in artist’s royalties, opting for a subscription model accessible to artists at every stage of their career, beginning at $5/month.

14 Artists You Didn’t Know Wrote That Hit

Behind every chart-topping anthem, there’s often a surprising pen at work. From pop icons to rock legends, these artists secretly shaped the hits we can’t stop singing. Here are 14 you probably didn’t know had a hand in writing someone else’s smash.

Adele
Before “Rolling in the Deep,” Adele co-wrote “Alive” for Sia—though Sia ended up recording it herself. Turns out, even powerhouse voices trade hits behind the scenes.

Avril Lavigne
The pop-punk princess helped write Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway.” Originally meant for Avril’s debut album, the song became one of Kelly’s defining anthems.

Bruno Mars
Before his own string of hits, Bruno co-wrote CeeLo Green’s “Forget You.” His funky fingerprints are all over that soulful hook.

Chris Stapleton
Before country stardom, Stapleton co-wrote Adele’s “If It Hadn’t Been for Love.” The bluesy track showcases the grit and emotion that later made him a star.

Ed Sheeran
Sheeran co-wrote Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.” It’s got that signature Ed mix of tender, sharp, and a little bit savage.

Jessie J
Before her own rise, Jessie J penned Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the U.S.A.” Her pop instincts made it one of the most recognizable songs of the 2010s.

Kesha
While her own hits glittered with rebellion, Kesha helped Britney Spears craft “Till the World Ends.” The lyrics? Pure Kesha chaos in the best way.

Ne-Yo
R&B’s smooth storyteller wrote Rihanna’s “Unfaithful.” The drama and melody show his knack for heartbreak—whether it’s his own or someone else’s.

Pharrell Williams
Pharrell wrote and produced Nelly’s “Hot in Herre.” His genius for irresistible hooks was heating up long before “Happy.”

Prince
Prince penned The Bangles’ “Manic Monday” under the pseudonym Christopher. Only he could turn weekday misery into pop magic.

Ryan Tedder
The OneRepublic frontman wrote Beyoncé’s “Halo.” That soaring melody? Pure Tedder, built for the rafters and the heartstrings.

Sia
Sia’s behind-the-scenes pen helped craft Rihanna’s “Diamonds.” It’s shimmering, spiritual, and unmistakably Sia.

Taylor Swift
Swift wrote “This Is What You Came For” with Calvin Harris—and that famous “Oh-oh-oh” hook? All her.

The Weeknd
He co-wrote Ariana Grande’s “Love Me Harder,” mixing his brooding mood with her powerhouse pop for a perfect R&B crossover.
