OMD To Release Special 40th Anniversary Digital Box Set “Souvenir”, 2CD Digital Singles Collection & 3LP Greatest Hits, On October 4

0

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) continue their 40th anniversary celebrations with the announcement of a digital career box set, 2CD download and a brand new 3LP greatest hits collection – out October 4th. The special digital career box set will be comprised of 98 songs.

The 3LP greatest hits package, spanning the band’s 40-year career, will include all the singles from “Electricity” to ”What Have We Done” as well as the exclusive brand new single, “Don’t Go.” Listen here.

Written and produced by both Paul and Andy, and recorded at Bleepworks in London, the new song “Don’t Go” melds together the plaintive melancholia of McCluskey’s lyrical refrain and the soaring synth melody from Paul Humphreys, combining to create the classic style of OMD.

OMD have sold an astonishing 25 million singles and 15 million albums over their career, establishing them as electronic synthesizer pioneers and one of the UK’s most-beloved pop groups. Their 13 albums include recently reissued Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (1980), Organisation (1980), Architecture & Morality (1981) and Dazzle Ships (1983).

The digital audio includes all the band’s singles from “Electricity” to “What Have We Done,” as well as a brand new single “Don’t Go,” exclusive to this release. The set also includes a previously unreleased live show from the Hammersmith Odeon in 1983, 22 previously unreleased demos from the archive which have been selected and mixed by Paul Humphreys, rare and unreleased live material from the BBC and an entire live show from the Mermaid Theatre in 2011.

Today’s announcement comes as part of another exciting installment of the band’s anniversary celebrations which first saw the reissue of their first four classic albums on 180g vinyl, mastered at half speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road and housed in their original iconic die cut sleeves designed by the legendary Peter Saville.

The band, Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Martin Cooper and Stuart Kershaw, is currently on tour in the U.S. with The B-52’s and Berlin. The band will also embark on a huge world tour later this year, beginning in October in Portugal, stretching through to February 2020, finishing in Paris. The deluxe edition of Doin’ My Thing will also be released digitally on October 4.

Upon release, Doin’ My Thing went Platinum and peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and #6 on the Billboard Top 200. The album produced a trio of hit singles: “Rain Is A Good Thing,” which became Bryan’s first #1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart; “Do I,” which reached #2 on the same chart; and “Someone Else Calling You Baby”. All three hits were co-written by Bryan and are a part of his 22 #1 song career tally, twelve of which he co-wrote. Doin’ My Thing also features Bryan’s distinctive cover version of the OneRepublic hit “Apologize”.

In the decade since Bryan released Doin’ My Thing, he has twice been named a two-time Academy of Country Music and a two-time Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year, a five-time host of the ACM Awards, a celebrity judge on ABC’s American Idol, a NSAI Artist/Songwriter of the Year, and was named a CMT Artist of the Year six consecutive years. Beastie Boys Limited Anniversary Edition Coloured Vinyl To Be Released On October 4th

0

On October 4, 2019, a series of limited edition coloured vinyl will be released to mark the anniversaries of Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique (30th anniversary), Ill Communication (25th anniversary), including the Root Down EP, and To The 5 Boroughs (15th anniversary).

To mark the 30th anniversary of Beastie Boys’ 1989 landmark second album, Paul’s Boutique will be released as a 2LP set pressed on standard black vinyl as well as limited edition violet coloured vinyl.

Recorded in Los Angeles with a sample-based Dust Brothers production, Paul’s Boutique marked a giant creative leap forward for Adrock, Mike D and MCA. Ranking high on critic’s lists including Pitchfork’s “Top 100 Albums of the 1980s,” Time Magazine’s “100 Greatest Albums of All TIME” and Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” Paul’s Boutique went on to sell over 2 million albums.

Beastie Boys’ multi-platinum selling album Ill Communication will be released as a limited edition, 2LP set pressed on silver-metallic coloured vinyl. There will also be multiple limited edition vinyl pressings of Root Down EP, available as orange, red, blue and green, that will be randomly distributed and sold separately.

Released in 1994, Beastie Boys’ fourth studio album Ill Communication debuted at No. 1 and was an unstoppable force, pervading every aspect of pop culture.

Its charge to the top of the charts was led by “Sabotage” and its legendary Spike Jonze/Nathanial Hornblower ’70s TV police drama tribute, as Rolling Stone dubbed Ill Communication 1994’s “soundtrack for summer.” Crowds and critics alike were floored by highlights “Sure Shot,” “Root Down” and “Get It Together,” as Vibe—in the magazine’s first cover story on a white artist–hailed Beastie Boys as “perhaps the most consistently innovative musicians to emerge out of hip hop.” It was a claim that Ill Communication has justified for years to come, and 25 years later Ill Communication’s impact has resonated with generation after generation.

Shortly after, Beastie Boy’s released the Root Down EP featuring the original album version of “Root Down” off Ill Communication, plus several remix versions. Also included are seven live tracks from their 1995 European winter tour.

Beastie Boys’ self-produced dedication to their home state of New York, To The 5 Boroughs, celebrates its 15th anniversary with a 2LP, limited edition blue vinyl pressing.

Released in 2004, the platinum selling To The 5 Boroughs hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Top Rap Albums, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Top Current Albums, Rap Album Sales and Top Album Sales charts. The album features a steady mix of deep pop culture references in tracks such as “Shazam!” and “Ch-Check It Out,” as well as more serious social and political issues with “Right Right Now Now,” “It Takes Time To Build” and “An Open Letter To NYC.” Rolling Stone stated “To The 5 Boroughs is an exciting, astonishing balancing act: fast, funny and sobering,” while Pitchfork proclaimed, “the album’s easy air speaks to veteran, nothing-to-lose attitude of both the city and the group.”

THE SMALL GLORIES Release “Oh My Love” Music Video

0

The Small Glories made their US debut with ASSINIBOINE & THE RED, an album that celebrates the Canadian Prairies back in late June when they released the record on Red House Records. The album title references the junction of two rivers, the Assiniboine (pronounced ‘uh-sin-uh-boin’) and the Red, in the duo’s hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and celebrates the happenstance meeting of members Cara Luft, an original member of the Wailin’ Jennys, and multi-instrumentalist JD Edwards.

The duo just released their brand new video for “Oh My Love.”

“It’s our happiest sounding broken-hearted love song!” Luft says of the single. “It’s a theme we are all familiar with, when we give our heart over to another and the feeling is either not reciprocal, or the timing is off, or we misread the signs.”

Luft and Edwards’ onstage chemistry and humor complements their energetic live performances and buoyant, Americana-inflected folk songs; their exuberant harmonies bring to mind such duos as the Civil Wars and Shovels & Rope, but with a Northern spin. NPR wrote, “Luft is a Wailin’ Jennys alum whose work on the clawhammer banjo is to die for, while Edwards’ guitar and vocal harmonies deepen and enrich the duo’s sound.”

Recorded in Winnipeg, Manitoba during a bracingly cold Canadian spring, ASSINIBOINE & THE RED reuinted the duo with producer Neil Osborne, frontman and songwriter for the iconic Canadian rock band 54-40. “Although he’s not a ‘folk artist,’ he has the heart of a folk singer and firmly believes in the power of song and in serving the song,” says Luft of Osborne. “He also believed in the importance of keeping us rooted in our folk/roots tradition; he didn’t want us to stray too far outside the box.”

“We’re folk singers, we try to write stuff that people can relate to,” says Edwards, whose looming stage presence and penetrating eyes find him the yin to Luft’s petite, snort-laughing yang.

“I remember being very excited about this collection of songs and getting to record them at home in Winnipeg,” Edwards says. “I was so glad to hear that Gilles Fournier (bass) and Mark Mariash (percussion/drums) agreed to come back and record another album with us. Getting the band back together along with Neil Osborne at the helm had my mind thinking of how we were going to be taking these songs to places we had never dreamed of going.”

The CMAOntario Awards Return to London in 2020

0

The CMAOntario Awards are heading back to southwestern Ontario as The Country Music Association of Ontario announced today that London will host the 2020 CMAOntario Festival and Awards, May 29-31, 2020.

Presented by Slaight Music, the 8th annual CMAOntario Awards will cap off a weekend of festivities on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Centennial Hall. This will mark the third time that London will host the event, with previous editions taking place in 2017 and 2018. With a thriving country music market and excellent track record of events, London offers tremendous opportunity to showcase and celebrate Ontario talent.

“The support of our members, Ontario artists and fans is what keeps our Festival, Conference and Awards weekend evolving to greater heights. London has been a terrific host in the past, and we’re thrilled to return to Music City next year,” said Steve Kassay, CMAOntario President.

“We are fast gaining a reputation as Canada’s ‘Music City’ and for good reason,” said London Mayor Ed Holder. “From intimate performances at Aeolian Hall to the main stage at London Music Hall or the award-winning Budweiser Gardens, we know how to party. When London plays host, the entire city rolls out the welcome mat, and the 2020 CMAOntario Awards will be no different.”

“Ontario is incredibly rich with some of the best country artists in Canada and a wealth of emerging talent. It’s an honour to welcome the CMAOntario Awards and Festival back to London. It’s great for London and our entire region,” said Chris Campbell, Director of Culture and Entertainment Tourism for London Tourism and host event chair.

Country music fans will have the opportunity to applaud their favourite country artists and experience up-close interactive performances by some of the top names in Ontario country music throughout the weekend.

Also, consider investing in a better internet provider, which can significantly enhance your smart home experience, ensuring seamless connectivity for all your devices and applications. As for smarthome devices you should consider adding to your home right now, take a look below.

Six Smart Devices for Your Home this 2019

If you want to build a home for the future, make sure you are equipped with these smart home essential devices.

Google Nest Hub: Best Smart Display

Amazon spearheaded the innovations on smarthome display technology with the arrival of the Echo Show. However, it was Google that managed to refine this concept when they unveiled the Google Nest Hub into the market. From Home Hub, Google updated its smart display technology into Nest Hub and upgraded the standards both in terms of design and voice assistant capacity.

According to its creators, the Nest Hub can add convenience to your day-to-day activities at home in so many ways. The tasks it can do include showing you a recipe for a dish that you want to make for dinner, making you aware of weather conditions, playing Youtube music, viewing Google Photos, and more. It can also be linked with your home security system.

The display will show you the camera feed on-screen so you can keep an eye on your home premises. But due to privacy concerns, Google opted to skip the video camera feature on the Nest Hub.

If you want to use the Google Nest Hub for video chatting, there are third-party options. But if you simply want to monitor your home or keep an eye on your family, it is a good tool to have in your smart home.

Philips Hue White LED: Best Smart Bulb
