mgk Launches ā€œstarmanā€ Video As ā€œlost americanaā€ Tour Rolls On

0

Today, GRAMMY-nominated recording artistĀ mgkĀ releases the official music video forĀ ā€œstarman,ā€Ā an anthemic standout from his blockbuster 2025 albumĀ lost americana. The visual directed by Sam Cahill incorporates the massive Statue of Liberty stage set from his ongoing, arena-conqueringĀ lost americana tour, as well as footage from the live show.

A fan-favorite both on record and on tour, ā€œstarmanā€ captures mgk’s own relatable struggles with fear and escapism by recasting the iconic chorus of Third Eye Blind’s 1997 alternative hit ā€œSemi-Charmed Lifeā€ in a modern context. Written, produced, and performed alongside Travis Barker (who drums on the song) and other longtime mgk collaborators and friends SlimXX, BazeXX, Nick Long, and No Love For The Middle Child, the song swirls together new wave glow, pop-punk speed, and explosive rock energy to become an undeniable sing-along. After a brief winter break, the lost americana tour picked back up again over the weekend in Europe and is set to return stateside on May 15 in Wheatland, CA, before wrapping on July 1 in Ridgefield, WA. Tickets and information can be found HERE.

The ā€œstarmanā€ video follows the January release of ā€œtimes of my life,ā€ a sobering look back at lost love recorded with the lost americana crew but dating back to a draft composed during the Tickets to My Downfall sessions. Ahead of the tour, mgk released the Tickets to My Downfall (All Access) anniversary edition, featuring five unreleased cuts. Executive produced by Barker, the additional tracks are a true extension of the groundbreaking LP, offering fans a glimpse into the creative vault and showcasing the same irreverent spirit that fueled mgk’s career evolution.

Upon release, lost americana landed in the Billboard 200 Top 5 and became mgk’s third consecutive No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart. In late November, he teamed up with Jonas Brothers for a fizzy, swoon-worthy remix of the LP’s inescapable hit ā€œclichĆ©.ā€ An enduring cornerstone of lost americana, the song inspired an iconic music video also directed by Cahill complete with choreography by Sean Bankhead (Usher, Tate McRae), as well as the candid, piano-powered rendition, ā€œclichĆ© (sad version).ā€ mgk has recently been revealing sharply designed lyric videos for lost americana’s songs on his Youtube channel.

NAV Links With Atlanta Icon Young Thug On ā€œTrimskiā€

0

NAV and Young Thug reconnect for the first time in over five years on ā€œTrimski.ā€ Produced by Ty Gotem, Elementry, Rel with additional production from Rodrigo Barahona and co-written by Frost the track continues a creative partnership that dates back to the Perfect Timing era, when Thug was one of the first major artists to cosign NAV. Since then they’ve linked on many records including ā€œBoy Back,ā€ ā€œSpend It,ā€ ā€œNo Debateā€ and most recently ā€œReprecussionsā€ from NAV’s 2020 album Emergency Tsunami. Inspired by Atlanta slang and culture, ā€œTrimskiā€ is Nav’s take on the word ā€œtrimā€ and also nods to Toronto slang, which often adds -ski to the end of various phrases. It can be defined as to be exceptionally well put together, exhibiting an excessive degree of trimness, often acknowledged by peers as ā€œoverly trim.ā€

NAV has been one of the most successful artists of the past decade. After becoming the first official signee to XO in 2016, he’s built a catalog that now includes multiple No. 1 debuts, over 11 billion global streams, 11 million RIAA-certified units, four RIAA Gold albums, and a run of platinum and multi-platinum singles. His 2022 album Demons Protected By Angels debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts, marking his third No. 1 album and fifth consecutive Top 10 in the U.S., while Bad Habits and Good Intentions both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Most recently, OMW2 Rexdale marked a return to his roots and expanded his global footprint with shows across Tokyo, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangkok and Riyadh, as he builds toward his next project.

Yungblud Brings British Rock Fire To ā€˜Idols II’ With ā€œSuburban Requiemā€

0

Britain’s biggest Rock star and GRAMMY Award-winner,Ā Yungblud, has officially announced the long-awaited second installment of his formidable concept album,Ā Idols. The album is set for digital release on 20th February 2026 via Island Records/Locomotion and features six new songs alongside the Yungblud and The Smashing Pumpkins version of the Grammy Award-nominated track, ā€˜Zombie’.

Following the immense success of the album’s predecessor, the 28-year-old has also revealed the title of the record’s lead single, ā€˜Suburban Requiem’.

Speaking on the evolution of the project, Yungblud shared:

ā€œThis is it. The second chapter of the Idols story. Part 1 was a journey that helped me reclaim my identity from the darkest position I’ve ever been in my life. Part 2 is about realising that I am alive, that I am real, that this journey that I’ve been on didn’t kill me. It’s about realising that you can feel invincible when you actually feel yourself. It’s about comprehending that my heart is beating and that my lungs are filling up with air.ā€

Alongside the album’s digital release, available for pre-order and releasing later this year, the physical collection includes a Yungblud store-exclusive ā€˜Idols (Complete)’ 180g 2LP audiophile vinyl and CD, both featuring all 19 tracks from ā€˜Idols’ and ā€˜Idols II’, as well as a silver transparent ā€˜Idols II’ vinyl with new cover artwork.

The album’s forebear, Idols, arrived in June 2025, securing Yungblud’s third consecutive UK Number One album. It received critical acclaim from across the press:

This announcement follows a historic run for the Yorkshire-born artist. In November 2025, Yungblud secured his fourth UK Number One album, and his second of the year, with One More Time, a collaboration with Aerosmith. The release marked Aerosmith’s first-ever UK Number One album.

Earlier this month, Yungblud’s global impact was recognised at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles where he was awarded ā€˜Best Rock Performance’ for his stunning rendition of ā€˜Changes’ at Villa Park for Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert, alongside Nuno Bettencourt, Frank Bello, Adam Wakeman and II.

With three nominations (Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album) he has become the first British artist in history to earn three nominations in the rock categories in a single year.

Fans won’t have to wait long to hear the new material live. In April, Yungblud begins his sold-out UK arena tour, culminating in a massive headline show at The O2 Arena, London on 24 April 2026.

Belfast Post-Punk Duo CHALK Ignite With ā€œTongueā€ Ahead Of ā€˜Crystalpunk’

“I read an interview with Swedish hardcore band Refused where Dennis LyxzĆ©n explained their visual switch from band tees and baggy jeans, to button up shirts and trousers,ā€ says Laurent Barnard of Gallows. ā€œHe said if you dress smarter, people take you more seriously. In 2008 Gallows were about to enter the studio to record our most serious record to date. For us, Grey Britain was a no-holds-barred commentary on the state of our country, a country lost to corruption and greed. An audio assault revealing the plain-as-day criminality within the political and religious constructs that still has a grip on our lives. The grey suits became our uniform, a symbol of how grave things have got, and a way of separating ourselves from the punk kids we used to be. I’d like to say they were specially made but we actually picked them straight off the shelf at the old Topman store on Oxford Street. Tight fitting clothes were still in fashion back in those days, I dare not try the suit on today! “

Forged at open mics, her stagecraft now includes arena turns playing lead in support of Guns ’2’ Roses at the O2 in Birmingham and Manchester. She aims to make music you can feel: ā€œI want to help people feel the same emotion as I do when I listen to music.ā€

Melis aims to continue her musical education in the U.S.—with dreams of Berklee College of Music or The New School—ultimately forming her own band, writing original music, and touring widely. Beyond music, she channels a love of art and fashion into a vibrant vintage‑meets‑glam aesthetic, believing all three disciplines are deeply interconnected. A BBC Radio 1 Track of the Week honoree, she’s sold out London’s Moth Club, supported Leon Bridges and NAO, and hosts Women in Jazz on Soho Radio. Signed to Since ’93/RCA, her forthcoming EP it’s like I never left—shaped by her first trip to Ghana and collaborations with Jordan Rakei and Accra’s SuperJazzClub—deepens her exploration of identity and community, earning praise from Elton John on Rocket Hour.

Japanese Hip-Hop Duo Creepy Nuts Score Historic Dual RIAA Gold Milestone

0

Japanese hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts have made history in the United States, becoming the first Japanese artists to earn RIAA Gold certification for two Japanese-language songs. ā€œBling-Bang-Bang-Bornā€ and ā€œOtonokeā€ have each surpassed 500,000 units in the U.S., marking a rare milestone for non-English-language hip-hop in the American market.

ā€œBling-Bang-Bang-Bornā€ has surpassed 900 million global streams and reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Global 200, while ā€œOtonokeā€ was named the most-streamed Japanese song overseas in 2025 according to Billboard Japan and Spotify year-end data. The sustained performance of both tracks underscores the duo’s growing international reach rather than a single viral moment.

In tandem with the achievement, vinyl pre-orders for their latest album ā€˜LEGION’ have launched in the U.S. and Japan. Designed for analog playback, the release features mixing and mastering from Alex Tumay and Mike Bozzi, emphasizing low-end depth and dynamic range for collectors and audiophiles.

Creepy Nuts will support the milestone with their North America Tour 2026, including two Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival appearances and headline dates in New York, Chicago and Mexico City.

U2 Surprise-Release ā€˜Days of Ash’ EP

0

U2 have surprise-released a new six-song EP, ā€˜Days of Ash,’ arriving in conjunction with Ash Wednesday. The project features five new band compositions and a poem by Yehuda Amichai, alongside a collaboration with Ed Sheeran and Ukrainian singer Taras Topolia, who previously joined the band for a 2022 performance in Kyiv.

Recorded over the past year, the EP centers on real lives cut short, including Minneapolis mother RenĆ©e Good, Iranian schoolgirl Sarina Esmailzadeh and Palestinian father Awdah Hathaleen. The track ā€œYours Eternallyā€ will also receive a short documentary directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Ilya Mikhaylus, set for release next week on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

ā€œThe songs on Days of Ash are very different in mood and theme to the ones we’re going to put on our album later in the year,ā€ Bono said in a press release. ā€œThese EP tracks couldn’t wait; these songs were impatient to be out in the world. They are songs of defiance and dismay, of lamentation. Songs of celebration will follow, we’re working on those now.ā€

Alongside the EP, U2 are reviving their long-running Propaganda zine with a 52-page issue titled ā€˜U2 – Days of Ash: Six Postcards From The Present… Wish We Weren’t Here.’ The publication includes lyrics, notes from each band member, a Bono Q&A and interviews tied to the ā€œYours Eternallyā€ film. A new full-length album is slated for late 2026, following 2023’s ā€˜Songs of Surrender.’
