Can’t Be In Miami For ULTRA Music Festival? Tune Into SiriusXM For Live Broadcast

SiriusXM announced today that for the 15th consecutive year, it will broadcast live from ULTRA Music Festival, the world famous outdoor electronic dance music festival, beginning Friday, March 29. ULTRA Music Festival will take place this year at an all new and larger festival grounds at Virginia Key on Biscayne Bay in Miami.

SiriusXM listeners will hear live DJ sets from The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, Tiësto, Afrojack, Nicky Romero and others all weekend long. SiriusXM’s “UMF Radio” channel will launch on Tuesday, March 26 at 12:00 pm ET and will air through Monday, April 1 via satellite on channel 51, and through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com.

SiriusXM also announced that it will kick off Miami Music Week with live broadcasts for the first time ever from the 34thannual Winter Music Conference at the Faena District (WMC). The live programming will offer listeners an insider look at the WMC festivities through artist interviews and DJ performances.

Additionally, SiriusXM will broadcast its 3rd annual House of Chill live from the Faena Hotel Miami Beach on Wednesday, March 27 at 4:00 pm ET on SiriusXM’s “UMF Radio.” This year’s House of Chill will feature exclusive downtempo performances from AMTRAC, Conro, SG Lewis and other surprise guests. SiriusXM will also broadcast the 33rd annual International Dance Music Awards after-party, live from The Faena Theater featuring DJ sets from MK, ILLENIUM and more. The live broadcast from the IDMA after-party will air on Thursday, March 28 from 9:30 pm ET – 12:00 am ET on SiriusXM’s “UMF Radio.”

After ULTRA Music Festival, SiriusXM’s “UMF Radio” channel will feature highlights from this year’s festival and will be available through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com.

UMF Radio is also a weekly show on SiriusXM’s Diplo’s Revolution channel. The two-hour weekly show features a mix of the genre’s most prominent and up-and-coming artists. UMF Radio airs Saturdays from 6:00—8:00 pm ET.

Theatre screenings for the iconic 1968 concert show will take place April 1, 3, 4, and 5 in select theatres nationwide, including markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Dallas. The live concert special’s restoration has been sourced from the 35mm internegative and will be presented in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound. Dolby Atmos places and moves sounds anywhere in the Dolby Cinema, including overhead, to make audiences feel they are truly attending The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. Through 2019 technology, the audience is whisked back to 1968. The 4K restoration beautifully captures and recreates this historic event, creating a truly unique and immersive experience that fans won’t be able to get anywhere else.

Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special and was filmed before a live London audience in 1968. The film centers around the original lineup of The Rolling Stones—Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, and Billy Wyman—who serve as the show’s hosts and featured attraction. It stars the band performing fan favorite classics like “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, as well as extraordinary live performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, and more.

This performance marks the first musical concert in which John Lennon performed before an audience outside The Beatles, as part of supergroup The Dirty Mac, which also included music legends Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Mitch Mitchell. The Rolling Stone Rock and Roll Circus is also the only time Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath performed with Jethro Tull, and the last time Brian Jones would perform with The Rolling Stones in front of an audience.

Don Cherry’s Meditative, Inventive 1975 Album ‘Brown Rice’ Reissued On Vinyl

Out of print in the U.S. for more than four decades, Don Cherry’s meditative, inventive outsider jazz classic, Brown Rice, is available on vinyl once again as of today via Verve/UMe. The Corrado Baccheli-produced album is pressed on standard weight black vinyl and housed in a replica sleeve with original liner notes from acclaimed jazz critic Stanley Crouch.

Brown Rice contains the apogee of Cherry’s influences: African, Indian, Arabic and American music are all thrown into the same psychedelic stew. This inventive combinative MO was a resting state for Cherry. Taught at the feet of avant-garde saxophonist Ornette Coleman, the trumpeter accelerated quickly into the unknown.

He recorded with Coleman, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders and the New York Contemporary Five — and helmed free jazz classics like 1961’s The Avant-Garde (with Coltrane), 1965’s Complete Communion and 1971’s Orient. Where those albums were fiery and provocative, Brown Rice is a subtler, more accessible listen — without losing an ounce of Cherry’s experimentation.

The title track is all disembodied whispers and yawps of saxophone noise; electric pianist Ricky Cherry grounds the eerie vibe with a hypnotic motif. “Malkauns” pits Charlie Haden’s bluesy upright bass against Moki Cherry’s tamboura drone — until the two are joined by drummer Billy Higgins and burst into a frenetic, serpentine dance. On “Chenrezig” and “Degi-Degi,” he dug into thrumming Middle Eastern pulses — and transcended “world music” in favor of a borderless musical language. As Stanley Crouch begins his liner notes: “There is joy laced with confidence in this music, and sadness, or pathos, that is as much connected to the Blues as it is to the huge yearning of that sound in Eastern music.”

The result is a wonderful entryway into the work of Cherry — whose revolutionary approach looms large in the jazz world. Notably, “Chenrezig” was recorded by Michael Mantler, the Austrian trumpeter who brought Cherry’s cross-cultural fusions into his work for ECM Records. Cherry’s children and stepchildren, Eagle-Eye Cherry, David Ornette Cherry, Christian Cherry, Neneh Cherry and Titio have made waves in the jazz, hip-hop and alternative rock spheres.

Brown Rice has been unavailable on vinyl in the US since 1977, but those interested in the outer limits of American music can now own a far-out classic once again. Whether you’re a student or an uninitiated musical seeker, it’s never been easier to get lost in the poignant cries of Cherry.

World famous drummer/musician Carl Palmer will be hosting a musical learning experience for drummers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists and vocalists called Carl Palmer’s Prog-Rock Camp. Featuring Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy and very special guests guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N Roses; Sons Of Apollo) and Derek Sherinian (ex-Dream Theater, Alice Cooper, Sons Of Apollo), the camp will run for 3 days in Philadelphia and allow the attendees to learn first hand from some of rock’s greatest musical icons.

“This camp will be a special dream come true for me,” says Carl Palmer, who has spent many years as an educator and demonstrator of advanced percussion. “It is not designed to be a ‘fantasy’ event, but rather, a complete three day educational adventure for those who really want to improve and advance their musical craft. Of course, fans who want to take in the experience, are welcomed, as well. This is a chance to sit one on one with some of the contemporary musical greats and learn.”

The Camp will begin on Friday, November 8th and will include three days of events, and the cost is $1,399 and includes all events, classes, concert, meals, parking, and hotel lodging. A deposit is required at registration, which will cap at 100 campers. You can go here to register.

Luis Miguel Announces 2019 North American Tour

Luis Miguel has always established records without precedents, not only because of his extraordinary voice, his versatility which lands him in different genres such as pop, bolero, mariachi, big band and romantic ballads, but also because of the preparation, elegance and his true artistry, all of which has made him one of the great icons in music and a major Latin artist around the world.

Throughout his exceptional 37-year career, Luis Miguel has released 33 albums, many of which have reached gold, platinum and diamond status. He has sold over 100 million albums all over the world, has a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, and is a 6-time Grammy winner and 6-time Latin Grammy winner. The International Press Association in Las Vegas has honored him with their most prestigious award—The Galardón Diamante. After completing an extensive three and a half year-long tour, he holds the record of highest tour revenue in the history of any Latin artist. During the prestigious Viña del Mar Festival, he received the Gaviota in silver, gold and platinum, which has never been granted to any other artist. Clip on tuners for your guitar, bass, or ukulele are a great alternative to the traditional tuner for a number of reasons. They are convenient, they can be used quickly at any time, you can leave them on your instrument at all times if you wish so you aren’t without, and they tend to be relatively inexpensive when compared to other options.

Some instruments end up falling out of tine more often than others – a good clip-on tuner can help make sure you are in tune at all times. They work by detecting vibrations from the headstock of your instrument and then indicating how close to the note that you are trying to tune to the string is, i.e. whether it needs to be tightened or loosened. The Snark SN-8: Snark tuners are extremely popular in all aspects of the instrument tuning world, and have been purchased by many guitar, bass and ukulele players for years. The Snark SN-8 Super Tight all instrument tuner is a new release and offers extremely  accurate tuning. It has a bright display with excellent readability from all angles because of its 360 degrees rotation ability, and in varying light. At less than $20, this is a fantastic clip on tuner for your guitar, ukulele or bass.

Korg PC1 Pitchclip Chromatic Tuner: This tuner from Korg has a number of great features considering its small size. It offers an LED display and positions close to your instrument whilst still being readable. The tuner can be positioned at an angle, or can be based flat against your instrument when clipped on. The tuner can be positioned anywhere between 0 and 180 degrees. You can also clip the tuner to either the front or back of your guitar, since the display will adjust in accordance with the orientation.

Boss TU-10 Chromatic Tuner: This tuner from Boss is another fantastic package at an affordable price. It is easy to use, and even has a true colour LED screen fitted, which provides coloured feedback on the note that you are trying to tune to, and can be used quickly and easily at any time. The Boss tuner does unfortunately not have full rotational capabilities, but is still an excellent tuner for the price.

Peterson StroboClip: Peterson are well known for their highly accurate tuners, and the StroboClip Sc-1 is no exception to this rule . It is slightly more expensive than some of its rivals, but is extremely well made and has some exclusive features on offer. This tuner is a fantastic choice for the concert/event-playing guitarist with its real time display and 1/10 cent precision. It offers tuning not only for guitar, bass, and ukulele, with options for a number of other string and wind instruments. The display is amazing and is easily readable in bright and dark conditions.

When selecting the best clip on tuner for your instrument, you should take into consideration  the conditions in which you will be tuning your instrument the majority of the time, and choose from the best in the market!
