My Side of Paradise Channels Emo Spirit and LA Dreams in New Single “Lost and Angelless”

0

My Side of Paradise just released their newest single, “Lost and Angelless” and it’s a song that hits home for anyone who’s ever chased a dream and felt lost on the long road of life. The band, who describes themselves as “what happens when nostalgia collides with hard-earned experience”, is made up of old friends who grew up in the 2000s emo scene. They found their way back to writing music after years of touring with their cover band Emo Kids.

“Lost and Angelless” mixes pop-punk energy with emo heart. It’s about the pressure to fit in, the fake side of fame, and the struggle to stay true to yourself. With lyrics like “What’s success if we are empty? / I can’t judge, I want the same.” and “Everyone is chasing and that’s the catch,” the song talks about how easy it is to lose yourself in a world that cares more about looks and likes than what’s real.

The music video also helps brings that message to life. Shot in Los Angeles, it shows a fallen angel who’s lost her wings while trying to make it big. It’s a story about how the city can lift you up or tear you apart.

With their mix of energy, honesty, and emotion, My Side of Paradise reminds us that even in a city full of bright lights, it’s easy to feel alone.

Flypaper Finds Stillness and Soul on New Single “Come Down” Ahead of Debut Album ‘Forget The Rush’

0

Following on from lead singles “Oh Well” and “On Your Mind” – which gained praise from The Line of Best Fit, The New Cue, AmericanaUK, GoldFlakePaint and more – Flypaper shares third single “Come Down, featuring backing vocals from Swedish outfit 7ebra.

Rory Sear says of the single: “Come Down is a song about stepping back, slowing down and embracing stillness. Maybe the unofficial title track too – ‘forget the rush’ is taken from the verse lyrics and captured a theme found throughout the record. This desire to pause and/or change pace.”
Forget sweeping narratives, elaborate concepts or grand gestures: with his spellbinding debut as Flypaper, Rory Sear simply shares a snapshot of a year. Meditating on the precariousness of life in ones late-20s, and transforming the quiet mundanity of the everyday into something profound, his debut album Forget The Rush is a timely reminder to stop and take a breath, expressed in the bittersweet, sun-dappled vernacular of the singer-songwriter tradition.

Live Dates

20th November – Oxford, UK – The Library
26th November – Brighton, UK – Prince Albert
27th November – London, UK – Sebright Arms

If Rory Sear’s creative vision seems out of step with a world moving at a million miles an hour, you can understand his motivation. Thanks to his father’s work, Sear’s was a particularly peripatetic childhood, divided between Scotland, North Carolina, Portsmouth and Somerset. One of his key emotional anchors during that period was guitar, which he first picked up aged seven and largely taught himself, bar a handful of classical lessons. The brash immediacy of pop-punk proved his earliest love, before he fell for the more sophisticated, narrative-driven songwriting of Brian Wilson, Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman in his teens.

You could say he drew on both schools of songwriting in Beachtape, the Brighton-based DIY four-piece he fronted while studying. Bringing a brilliantly breezy sensibility to melodic indie-rock, the quartet quietly fizzled out during the pandemic, following two EPs and a fistful of singles. Subsequently, Sear set about developing solo material as Flypaper, stealing his pseudonym from a song by influential 90s noise-rockers Brainiac.

As Sear explains, Flypaper actually began life as a piano project. “I was obsessed with Randy Newman so I bought a keyboard and had some friends help me record songs with a saxophone session guy.” He shudders, “It’s probably the worst idea I ever had.” Confronted by material he couldn’t stand behind, Sear scrapped the entire EP and started afresh, sans-piano. In his haste to make up for lost time, he stopped second-guessing his songwriting and stumbled upon Flypaper’s sleepy, acoustic guitar-led aesthetic.

Sear shared debut EP Big Nada in August 2023, which was re-released in 2024 via influential, Stockholm-based indie PNKSLM (ShitKid, Chemtrails, Sudakistan), as a companion piece to his second EP, Another Orbit. Together, the 12 tracks chronicled the first year of the project, with winningly lo-fi indie-rock redolent of Elliott Smith. If Big Nada/Another Orbit is evocative of Either/Or-era Smith, Forget The Rush feels more spiritually akin to XO, offering meatier arrangements, albeit with far fewer personnel.

Remaining faithful to his DIY roots, Sear wrote, recorded and self-produced the album in his bedroom across the space of six months, playing every instrument except for drums. Listen carefully and you may well hear muffled voices or the distant slam of doors in his London house-share, both of which only enhance the sense of intimacy communicated in Sear’s diaristic lyrics and world-weary semi-whisper.

Throughout, there’s a sense of a neat resolution being just out of reach, but it’s perhaps never as clearly communicated as it is on ‘Come Down’. Featuring backing vocals from Swedish outfit 7ebra, its appeal to “forget the rush” is echoed in its languorous arrangement, pairing strummed chords with chiming top notes.

Equal parts tender and truthful, Forget The Rush is as much a soundtrack to escape to, as it is an exploration of feeling unmoored. Take a step back from your reality and listen.

Courtney Barnett Ignites a Fiery New Era with Rock Anthem “Stay In Your Lane”

Courtney Barnett, the GRAMMY-nominated Australian rock visionary, lights a new fuse with her electrifying single “Stay In Your Lane,” out now on Mom+Pop Music.

It marks the thrilling start of her next era, following her meditative instrumental collection “End Of The Day” and the acclaimed “Things Take Time, Take Time.” With a wall of guitars and a rhythm section that shakes the bones, “Stay In Your Lane” captures everything that makes Barnett one of the defining songwriters and most dynamic guitarists of her generation.

Her voice hits like a spark: “Gotta get this off my chest,” she chants, an anthem of release and renewal. The video, directed by Alex Ross Perry (Pavement), pairs the song’s intensity with raw, mesmerizing visuals that match every note’s emotional charge.

Fresh off a run of intimate shows at Levon Helm Studios and Joshua Tree, Barnett now brings her magnetic energy to national television, performing “Stay In Your Lane” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, October 22.

Lettuce Launches Berklee Scholarship and Intimate ‘House of Lett’ Shows to Funk Up the Future

0

Genre-defying funk powerhouse Lettuce has partnered with the nonprofit organization Music is a Language to launch a transformative new scholarship in the band’s name. This initiative will fund a full-tuition scholarship for a deserving student to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where the roots of Lettuce first took hold.

The Lettuce Scholarship aims to support young musicians from underserved communities who demonstrate exceptional talent, passion, and a commitment to their craft. By teaming up with Music is a Language—a nonprofit dedicated to providing access to music education for all—Lettuce is giving back to the next generation of artists and honoring the power of music as a universal language.

For the members of Lettuce, who met at Berklee as students, this initiative is more than philanthropy—it’s personal. It represents a full-circle moment for a band whose career began in the hallways and jam sessions of the iconic institution. The band will be doing a directive of $1 from every ticket sold moving forward on newly announced dates, to go towards funding the scholarship, beginning with House of Lett, an intimate series of performances from the band to kick off the scholarship fund, taking place December 5-6, 2025 in Denver, CO, location be revealed. Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow, Friday, October 17 at 9am PST here.

With only four shows and an extremely limited number of tickets available for each – less than 100 per show – this is a rare chance to experience Lettuce up close in a setting that shaped their sound. Each performance will be recorded live and thoughtfully curated to create a one-of-a-kind fan experience unlike anything the band has ever done before. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy Lettuce’s signature wine, available for purchase during the shows. A portion of the proceeds from the bar sales at House of Lett will also be added to the scholarship fund. Lucky fans will have access to purchase an All-You-Can-Lett Pass, which includes access to all four House of Lett shows, one year free membership to LettuceLive.Com partnered with Nugs.Net, wine tasting with the band & (1) bottle of each of the Lettuce wines to take home, a signed COOK vinyl & recipe book, pro shot photos with the band and a group photo posted to Lettuce’s social media after the event.

Speaking on the momentous occasion, Dean of the Professional Performance Division at Berklee College of Music, Sean Skete says “I first met Adam Deitch in the summer of 1992 during Berklee’s 5-Week Summer Performance Program. Even then, his passion, creativity, and command of the drums were undeniable. Since that time, Adam has gone on to become one of the most influential and innovative drummers of his generation—blending genres, pushing boundaries, and inspiring musicians around the world. The scholarship opportunity he is now offering is a beautiful full-circle moment. It reflects not only his generosity but also his deep commitment to the next generation of artists. This is a powerful way to uplift a deserving student and pay forward the kind of support that helps dreams take flight.”

The band’s Erick “Maverick” Coomes, while reflecting on his journey to this point, recalls “Lettuce was born in the basement of the dorm rooms at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. When we each as high school students decided to enroll at the 5 week summer program, our lives were unknowingly course corrected into an ensemble of true musical companionship and strong friendship that has become a source of joy to the entire world forever. The people you can meet and the experience that can be had attending this amazing institution has the potential to change the student and the world for the better. We are ecstatic to launch the Lettuce Scholarship.”

“We are thrilled to team up with Lettuce,” says Music is a Language’s Executive Director, Robert Korn. “It is only possible to achieve our goals and fulfill our mission with the support of musicians who believe in making a difference. We are grateful to begin this partnership and eager to raise funds to offer scholarships to students in need at the Berklee School of Music. We are excited for what the future holds and the opportunity to make a positive difference in this time of need.”

Lettuce’s forthcoming album out December 3 on Lettuce Records, Cook, isn’t just a nod to Lettuce’s musical heat; it’s an invitation to join the band at the table, where funk, soul, jazz, rock, and hip-hop come together in one rich, flavorful dish. The album offers a menu of delights that marks a group exploring new sonic territory. On Cook, Lettuce has expanded its ever-widening musical palette again, following tours with both rap icon GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and reggae legend Ziggy Marley. Earlier in the year, the band released the live album and concert film Lettuce with the Colorado Symphony. Still, there’s a generous dose of Lettuce’s patented funk, paying tribute to the great James Brown and his JB’s and honoring mentors like Tower of Power and Maceo Parker. For these six lifelong partners, the new songs feel like a nourishing meal that entices all of your senses.

Alex Williams Reimagines ’80s Metal Mayhem as Country-Fried Storytelling on ‘Space Brain’

0

Alex Williams releases his new album Space Brain via Lightning Rod Records. Inspired by his longtime love for ’80s metal, the album finds Williams reinterpreting hits from Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe, Cinderella, Motörhead, and more as a collection of backwoods ballads, campfire sing-alongs and roadhouse roots-rockers.

Produced by Grammy-winning producer and longtime collaborator Ben Fowler (Charley Crockett, Lynyrd Skynyrd) in Nashville, Space Brain doesn’t push Williams away from his country pedigree, but instead expands his interpretation of that sound altogether. Backed by modern-day guitar heroes like Rob McNelley (Bob Seger, Wynonna Judd), Dan Dugmore (Linda Ronstadt, ZZ Top) and Mike Payne (Luke Bryan), Williams masterfully reconstructed each song, aiming to emphasize storytelling over sheer sonic power. Highlights include his Southern rock-infused takes on Cinderella’s “Nobody’s Fool” featuring Tom Keifer, Judas Priest’s “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming,” and Ratt’s “Round and Round.”

The result is a daring, genre-blurring record that showcases Williams as a vocalist with arena-sized swagger and a formidable interpreter. While country music has a long history of honoring its pioneers through countless artists within the genre, Space Brain is something different; this album tips its hat to a different musical influence, proving that Williams isn’t just walking the line, he’s rewriting it.

Space Brain also features Williams’ and Cody Jinks’ previously released gritty take on Ozzy Osbourne’s “Flying High Again.” The album follows his 2022 LP Waging Peace.

  1. Flying High Again featuring Cody Jinks [Ozzy Osbourne]
  2. Night Train [Guns N’ Roses]
  3. Ace of Spades [Motörhead]
  4. Nobody’s Fool featuring Tom Keifer [Cinderella]
  5. Round and Round [Ratt]
  6. Look What The Cat Dragged In [Poison]
  7. Wild Side [Mötley Crüe]
  8. Youth Gone Wild [Skid Row]
  9. You’ve Got Another Thing Coming [Judas Priest]
  10. Gettin’ Better [Tesla]

The ultimate slow-burn obsession. A love song? Maybe. A stalker anthem? Definitely. Either way, it ruled radios all season long.

The night-out anthem that never ends. If your summer didn’t start with this song, it didn’t start at all.

Bold, cheeky, and unstoppable. Katy’s rebellious hit was the soundtrack to every rooftop, bonfire, and bad decision.

“Ella, ella” echoed everywhere. Rihanna didn’t just dominate the summer — she defined a generation’s soundtrack.

“We Belong Together” – Mariah Carey (2005)
A comeback and a confession rolled into one. No one did summer heartbreak quite like Mimi.

“When Doves Cry” – Prince (1984)
No bassline, no problem. Prince stripped it all down and still made it sizzle — a masterpiece of sweat and soul.

Summer ends, but the songs stay hot. From soul to synths to TikTok trends, these tracks remind us that every year has its anthem — and every anthem has its moment in the sun.

Elevate Your Style with the Perfect Men’s Trendy Overcoat

0

By Mitch Rice

When the temperature drops, style doesn’t have to take a back seat. A men’s trendy overcoat is more than just outerwear — it’s a statement piece that blends sophistication, comfort, and confidence. From timeless wool classics to modern oversized silhouettes, the overcoat has become a must-have for every man who values both practicality and fashion-forward design.

The Evolution of the Men’s Overcoat

Overcoats have long been associated with elegance, worn by icons of classic cinema and style legends throughout history. But today’s men’s trendy overcoat has evolved beyond the traditional tailored piece. Modern designers have reimagined it in different fabrics, cuts, and colors — creating versions suitable for both formal and streetwear-inspired looks.

Neutral tones like camel, charcoal, and navy still dominate, but we’re also seeing a rise in bold hues such as olive green, burnt orange, and cream. These contemporary shades add a touch of individuality while keeping the outfit refined.

Streetwear Meets Elegance

What makes today’s men’s trendy overcoat so appealing is its versatility. It can elevate casual streetwear just as easily as it completes a tailored business outfit. Street-style influencers have embraced the overcoat as a layering essential — often pairing it with hoodies, joggers, and sneakers. This balance between structure and comfort has made the overcoat one of the most flexible pieces in modern men’s fashion.

For example, an oversized beige overcoat layered over a graphic hoodie and white sneakers captures the essence of effortless urban sophistication. On the other hand, a slim-cut black overcoat worn with leather boots and a turtleneck creates a sleek, minimalist vibe perfect for evening outings.

Fabric and Fit Matter

When shopping for a men’s trendy overcoat, fabric and fit are crucial. Wool remains the gold standard for warmth and durability, but blended materials like cashmere-wool mixes or polyester-wool hybrids offer a lighter, more breathable feel — ideal for transitional weather.

The right fit also depends on how you plan to style it. A slightly oversized cut allows room for layering thicker sweaters or hoodies, while a tailored silhouette complements more formal or office-ready looks.

Seasonal Trends to Watch

As we move through the colder months, several overcoat trends stand out:

  • Double-breasted designs are making a strong comeback, offering a timeless yet bold look.
  • Textured fabrics such as herringbone or tweed bring depth and personality to simple outfits.
  • Neutral layering — pairing muted tones together for a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic — is becoming increasingly popular.
  • Sustainable materials are gaining attention as conscious fashion becomes a growing priority among shoppers.

Where to Find the Latest Styles

If you’re looking to refresh your winter wardrobe, platforms like Voghion make shopping for a men’s trendy overcoat both convenient and affordable. Voghion is a rising European e-commerce platform that offers a wide selection of fashion products — from clothing, footwear, and bags to lifestyle items like furniture and e-bikes — all at competitive prices.

What sets Voghion apart is its variety and accessibility. Rather than focusing on a single brand, the platform curates multiple styles for different tastes, whether you prefer sleek minimalism or bold, streetwear-inspired pieces.

Final Thoughts

A men’s trendy overcoat is more than just a seasonal layer — it’s a wardrobe essential that adds polish and confidence to every outfit. Whether you lean toward classic wool coats or modern oversized silhouettes, investing in the right overcoat helps you stay warm, stylish, and effortlessly on-trend.

And with platforms like Voghion, it’s easier than ever to explore new styles, compare options, and build a wardrobe that truly reflects your personality and lifestyle.
