The New Pornographers Share ā€œPure Sticker Shockā€ Ahead Of ā€˜The Former Site Of’

0

The New Pornographers return with ā€œPure Sticker Shock,ā€ the latest single from their forthcoming tenth studio album ā€˜The Former Site Of,’ due March 27 on Merge Records. Built on bright, jamming synth-pop, the track finds A.C. Newman turning inward as he questions ideas of worth and value. ā€œIt basically asks the question ā€˜What has worth? Who is deciding?’ Your market value is not always your value,ā€ Newman shared, reflecting on the song’s personal resonance.

ā€˜The Former Site Of’ gathers ten tightly crafted pop narratives exploring people at personal and societal extremes. Newman first shaped the material in his home studio before bringing it to bandmates Kathryn Calder, Neko Case, John Collins, and Todd Fancey. The album also features session drummer Charley Drayton, with Josh Wells joining the band on drums for their spring tour. Newman noted that having time to build songs privately allowed him to refine their core feeling before presenting them to the group.

The band kicks off a U.S. tour April 22 at The Wilbur in Boston, with stops at Webster Hall in New York, Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, The Metro in Chicago, and 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. Support comes from Will Sheff of Okkervil River as the group brings new material and catalog favorites to stages across the country.

Melvins And Napalm Death Unite For ā€˜Savage Imperial Death March’

0

The Melvins and Napalm Death have joined forces for ā€˜Savage Imperial Death March,’ arriving April 10 via Ipecac Recordings. More than a split release, the project is a full collaborative album featuring members of both bands writing and recording together. The title nods to their 2016 and 2025 Savage Imperial Death March tours, but this marks their first official studio release under the shared banner.

Recorded at the Melvins’ Los Angeles studio, the album brings together Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover with Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway, Shane Embury, and John Cooke. The first track, ā€œTossing Coins Into The Fountain Of F***,ā€ premiered on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal. Embury called the sessions ā€œeclectic musical madness,ā€ while Osborne described the process as a true 50/50 partnership built on trading riffs and recording ideas in real time. Greenway reflected on the full-circle moment, recalling his days collecting Melvins records before ultimately collaborating with one of his favorite bands.

David Nail returns March 6 with ā€œThe Crown,ā€ a new single inspired by a true story from his hometown of Kennett, Missouri. Written with Anderson East, the track launched a two-year creative partnership that evolved into a full record. Nail describes it as the starting point for everything that followed. ā€œA few hours later, ā€˜The Crown’ was born,ā€ he said, recalling the first writing session that set the tone for the project.

To introduce the new music, Nail will hit the road solo on his 2026 ā€œDown To The Studs Tour,ā€ an acoustic run focused on small-capacity venues and direct connection. Traveling alone with a guitar, he plans to share stories and debut ā€œThe Crownā€ alongside his multi-platinum catalog. The newly added Southeast dates expand an already wide-reaching itinerary that stretches from Maryland and New England through Texas and into the Carolinas and Georgia.

The stripped-back format reflects Nail’s continued commitment to letting the story lead. The tour places him face-to-face with audiences in listening rooms and theaters across the country, emphasizing honesty and immediacy as he begins this next chapter.

Civil Villains Return With ā€œCome Homeā€ And Signal Bold New Chapter

0

Oxford alt-rock and post-hardcore trio Civil Villains return with their new single ā€œCome Home,ā€ arriving February 10, 2026 via Thundersnuff Records. Formed in 2015 by James King, Mark Hudson, and Toby Warren, the band has built a reputation on intense live performances and songwriting that pushes against genre lines. ā€œCome Homeā€ offers the first glimpse of a larger body of work due later this year, capturing the trio at full throttle with intricate rhythms and sharp melodic turns.

Recorded at Shaken Oak Studios and Safehouse Studios in Oxfordshire, the single was produced and mixed by Mike Bannard alongside the band and mastered by Alain Paul Mastering in Germany. Early support has come from BBC Introducing’s Dave Gilyeat. The band describe the track as ā€œmusically and lyrically bipolar, lurching between cruelty and compassion,ā€ adding that it arrived almost fully formed in one sitting and reflects their own creative tension.

Following early recordings with Josh Harrison and their debut EP ā€˜Snake Oil,’ Civil Villains sharpened their sound on 2023’s ā€˜Motion Sick.’ The forthcoming 2026 release leans into greater clarity and space while retaining their signature angular guitars and rhythmic unpredictability. With previous tours across the UK and North America and festival appearances including Portals, Envol Et Macadam, and Mondo NYC, the trio continue to expand their reach while refining a sound that balances precision with raw emotional force.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), the creator-first, future-forward PRO, announces that it has launched a new virtual care offering as part of its ASCAP Wellness Program, which includes a broad range of health and well-being benefits provided exclusively to its members. Through a collaboration with MD Live by Evernorth, a leading provider of virtual health care services in the U.S., ASCAP members and their eligible dependents can engage in virtual visits with board-certified MD Live clinicians for mental health, dermatology, or 24/7 urgent care—all at discounted pricing.

ā€œWe know that health and wellness are foundational to creative work and longevity in our industry, but many music creators struggle to access and afford health insurance,ā€ said ASCAP Chief Strategy and Digital Officer Nick Lehman. ā€œThat is why it’s important for us to launch this service for our members, providing easy access to high-quality care at very reasonable costs – regardless if they have insurance or not.  As the only truly creator-first PRO in the US, our commitment to our members is to support them with the resources they need to be at their creative best.ā€

MD Live has a national network of board-certified doctors, pediatricians, dermatologists, psychiatrists and therapists who provide personalized care for medical and mental health needs. ASCAP members can sign up for access to MD Live virtual care services through the ASCAP Member Access portal.

ā€œVirtual care is a huge benefit for people with busy lives who want to stay on top of their health,ā€ said Vontrelle Roundtree, MD, MPT, Associate Chief Medical Officer, MD Live. ā€œBy connecting with doctors via phone or video calls, we can empower ASCAP members to take control of their health without sacrificing convenience.ā€

Virtual care is just one part of a broader suite of benefits within the ASCAP Wellness Program, which was developed to help nourish body, mind and spirit for ASCAP music creators. Members have special access to ASCAP community events, original editorial focused on the wellness needs of creators, and discounted services supporting mental health, mindfulness, and exercise. ASCAP also provides additional member benefits including deals on online music education, music software, hotels, marketing services and CD and vinyl printing.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is a membership association of more than 1.1 million songwriters, composers and music publishers, and represents some of the world’s most talented music creators. Founded and governed by songwriters, composers and publishers, it returns nearly 90 cents of every dollar collected to its members as royalties and has the lowest overhead rate of any U.S. PRO. Ā In 2025, ASCAP reported record-high financial results of $1.945 billion in revenues and $1.759 billion available in royalty distribution monies to its members. Over the last ten years, ASCAP has delivered a 6.7% compound annual growth rate for total revenues, and an 7.3% compound annual growth rate for total royalty distributions to members. ASCAP licenses a repertory of over 20 million musical works to hundreds of thousands of businesses that use music, including streaming services, cable television, radio and satellite radio and brick and mortar businesses such as retail stores, hotels, clubs, restaurants and bars. ASCAP collects the licensing fees, and identifies, matches, processes and pays royalties to its members for trillions of performances every year. The ASCAP blanket license offers an efficient solution for businesses to legally perform ASCAP music while respecting the right of songwriters and composers to be paid fairly. ASCAP puts music creators first, advocating for their rights and the value of music on Capitol Hill, driving innovation that moves the industry forward, building community and providing the resources and support that creators need to succeed in their careers. Jimmy Eat World Launch Massive ā€˜Bleed American’ 25th Anniversary Tour

0

Today, Arizona rock icons Jimmy Eat World will kick off the celebration for the 25th anniversary of their seminal album Bleed American in a big way — with a massive Live Nation promoted tour that starts June 9 in Denver, CO, at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre and ends in November at Vans Warped Tour in Orlando, FL.

The extensive trek marks Jimmy Eat World’s triumphant return to the Vans Warped Tour stage, in all five cities, after a 25-year absence and a trio of previously announced U.K. shows, with sold-out dates on Aug. 14 at The Piece Hall in Halifax and Aug. 15 at Cardiff Castle in Wales, followed by the biggest U.K. show in the band’s history on Aug. 16 at London’s Gunnersbury Park.

As they prepare for tour, the band members are approaching songs from the album with a perspective they lacked in the blur of 2001: intentional gratitude. For drummer Zach Lind, this tour feels like a second chance to show appreciation to the fans who provided their livelihood for the past 25 years. Lead vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkinsechoes this sentiment: ā€œI feel like at this time in our lives, especially for me, it’s important to get back to a place that you can savor. This tour is designed to be an elevated version of our show, a heightened experience with production that reflects 25 years of learning how to stretch artistically in the live environment.ā€ Fans can expect to hear the entirety of Bleed American, along with much more they’ll have to wait to see and hear!

Along the tour, Jimmy Eat World will be joined by very special guests (on select dates): Rise Against, Hot Mulligan, Sunny Day Real Estate, Thrice, Motion City Soundtrack, Mom Jeans, Minus the Bear, The Get Up Kids, PUP, Sparta, Hey Mercedes, Girls Against Boys, Illuminati Hotties, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, and Jay Som.

Originally released July 24, 2001 via DreamWorks Records, Bleed American stands as a landmark album that helped push alternative rock into the mainstream, cementing Jimmy Eat World as pioneering artists of the 2000s music scene. The album has been certified platinum in the U.S. and gold in the U.K., with the essential single ā€œThe Middleā€ recently joining the Spotify Billion Streams Club. The record was not only a commercial breakthrough, but also a creative touchstone for a new wave of bands, with artists including Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, and The Wonder Years citing the album as a major influence.

Adkins says: ā€œWhen we printed the last mix of Bleed American, we felt like we had achieved something great for ourselves. There was no barometer of how it would connect with people outside of the studio, and we are still in awe with the life the record and songs have had since their original release. Bleed American is as much yours as it is ours, so we want to celebrate it with you all in a very special way.ā€

For the North America dates, tickets are available starting with an artist, CITI, and American Express presale (more details below) beginning Wednesday, February 11. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general onsale on Friday, February 13 at 10 a.m. local time.
