Easter Eggs You Missed In Stranger Things 2

0

When it comes to the Netflix original series Stranger Things, there are a seemingly endless supply of Easter Eggs and knowing nods to other movies and pop culture properties. In fact, it might be faster to list all the bits of the show that don’t actually refer to something else, rather than those that do. And that’s not all. Sometimes what looks like an Easter Egg — like Lucas’s collection of He-Man action figures and Maxine’s nickname of Mad Max — are actually just details that come from a show set in the 1980s. But in the interests of making your next rewatch more satisfying, here’s a not-anywhere-close-to-complete list of some of the more overt Easter Eggs you might’ve missed in Stranger Things Season 2. And before you get mad and open up your face with rage like the demogorgon, just remember: spoilers ahead…

These People Are Put In Total Isolation To See If They Can Figure Out An Hour

Australian radio hosts Hamish & Andy put three people into total isolation room to see who could hit a buzzer most accurately at the one hour mark. It’s easy to vibe out one second without a clock, but one hour is a little more tricky. I would have been bored after the first minute, and hit the buzzer just to go back to checking my email.

Michael Ray Donates More Than 100K Meals To Shelter Animals On “Get To You” Tour

0

A life-long animal supporter, Platinum-selling recording artist Michael Ray launched Wrigley Cares: Helping Animals In Need earlier this month as a philanthropic component to his 15-city “Get To You” Tour. Named after his rescue dog, Wrigley, the chart-topping singer/songwriter teamed up with Zappos For Good and local animal shelters to set up donation stations at each of his “Get To You” Tour stops. In just four weeks on the road, Ray and his fans have collected 100,320 meals to donate to animals in need, based on one cup of food as an average per food meal size.

“We set out to see how we can help animals in need and we are blown away by the huge response,” shared Michael Ray. “When we’re on the road, we stop in each town and become a part of the community for a night while on stage. It’s inspiring to see the ‘Get To You’ Tour can leave a lasting impression and feed so many shelter animals. Wrigley’s stoked too.”

“Zappos For Good is humbled once again to have partners like Michael Ray and his fans, who’ve helped us make a difference in the lives of so many pets around the country,” said Steven Bautista, Head of Charity at Zappos.com. “With their help, our Give campaign is able to provide a much-needed service.”

“Get To You,” the lead single off Ray’s forthcoming sophomore album, has amassed over six million on-demand streams as the single climbs the country charts. The “passionate, inked-up country rocker” (Tampa Bay Times) impresses audiences across the country on his second headline tour. With staples in his set like Platinum-certified No. 1’s “Think A Little less” and “Kiss You In The Morning,” Ray’s live show presence continues to be praised for “the energy and the polish of a pro” (Nash Country Daily).

March 2017 brought Michael Ray his second No.1 single with “Think A Little Less” off his debut self-titled album. This followed his first No. 1 single, “Kiss You In The Morning” which went to the top spot in just 24 weeks. Ray continues to grow his following, having toured with Sam Hunt, Kip Moore, Brantley Gilbert and Darius Rucker and wrapped up his own first 40 city headlining tour last year.

Ray was raised in Eustis, Florida an hour from Orlando, and grew up hunting alligators and fishing for tarpon at the end of white sand dirt roads. The child of a family full of musicians, he began his professional career before he was a teenager, graduated to the bar scene as soon as he could drive and hasn’t let up on the pedal since. When he decided it was time to move to Nashville, the work Ray had put in began to pay off quickly as he landed a publishing contract with Warner/Chappell Music and a record deal with Atlantic Records /Warner Music Nashville.

Canadian Music Week Announces David Farrell’s Induction into the Hall of Fame at the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Awards

0

Canadian Music Week is pleased to announce David Farrell as the 2018 inductee to the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame. David Farrell will be honoured for his achievements and longstanding career in the music industry at the annual Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards Gala Dinner at Rebel Nightclub in Toronto on Thursday May 10th, 2018.

For more than four decades, David Farrell has chronicled the ups, downs, triumphs, disasters and constant changes that make Canada’s music industry a roller coaster for its participants.

Canadian Music Week President Neill Dixon says, “David and I go way back before the beginnings of Canadian Music Week where we built the foundation of what was to become Canada’s largest and longest running new music festival and conference. David has always had a strong voice in the music industry, especially when it comes to delivering to the latest and most important news. I am very excited and honoured that David is being inducted into the 2018 Canadian Music Industry Awards Hall of Fame at CMW, the event that he helped start.” –

Everyone involved in Canadian music – artists, managers, radio programmers, DJs, club bookers, concert promoters, publicists, stage and road crews and dozens more – relies on the site for accurate information on a day-to-day basis.

And for the last 10 years, Farrell’s daily website, FYImusicnews.ca, has filled that function. Thousands of music professionals visit the website daily and subscribe to the newsletter, religiously reading it three times a week. And they learn who’s got a new job, what songs are being played, what concerts sold out, which record companies – or retail chains or music festivals – succeeded and which failed, what memories from the past still run true today, which trends (technical and otherwise) are ascendant and which aren’t – and close to a half-million words a month of news and views and facts and opinions…

They used to say, back in the day when print was king, that people like David Farrell had printers’ ink in their veins.

Now that he’s being honoured with his induction into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame, Farrell becomes – in a rare moment – reflective.

“I’ve been blessed to have friends who care for me dearly and a life that’s been illuminated by people who in large or small measure have made changes in the world we live in. Being honoured by my peers in this way is beyond anything I could or would have asked for, and I’m grateful for those who have appreciated what I have done. It’s wonderful to be rewarded with an acknowledgment that my crazy life has, after all, meant something to the community that I’ve tried – for all these years – to serve in a meaningful, consistent way.”

David Farrell pauses and looks a little uncomfortable, glancing back at more than four decades of writing about the Canadian music industry.

“Information is knowledge, knowledge is power, and power makes the world go round. I’ve no idea who said that first, but I’m claiming it.”
