Rose Gerber Meditates On Reconnection And Regret With New Single “Just Yesterday”

0

Rose Gerber releases her third single of the last year with “Just Yesterday”. Rooted in her blend of country, Americana and indie rock, the track explores what happens when connection fades and what happens when we choose to reach for it again. The song carries the warmth and ache of the Pacific Northwest landscape it was born from. Gerber has been a fixture in the Portland, Oregon music scene where she’s honed her signature sound of rock meets country, bringing a high lonesome rock vibe to the familiar sound of the pedal steel whine.

The track opens with gentle nostalgia before unraveling into reflection. Between the ache and acceptance lies a quiet hope. The chorus line, “Watch the yellow birds, so hard to let them go / but you know they couldn’t stay,” captures both loss and release, a reminder that love doesn’t always mean holding on. Gerber blurs the line between personal and universal, inspired by personal experiences and the growing number of people going no contact to protect their peace. The song offers a different kind of remedy, one that invites healing rather than avoidance.

“It’s about time, regret, and the beauty of trying anyway,” Rose says. “We all get caught up in our own stories and end up missing the people who mattered most. The song came from that realization, that it’s never too late to pick up the phone.” She adds, “It’s not about fixing what’s broken. It’s about noticing what still matters before it becomes just a memory.” The song is reflective but not resigned, understanding the sting of regret while still believing in the possibility of reconnection.

Dublin Duo T R Y S T E Unleash Emotional Blackgaze On ‘To Rise You Seek The End’

0

Dublin duo T R Y S T E deliver emotional blackgaze on their new EP ‘To Rise You Seek The End’. Gabriel Gaba handles vocals and guitar while John O’Kelly takes on production and guitar, creating what they call emotionally heavy, heavy music. The EP seamlessly blends the soaring melodies of Jeff Buckley with the melancholic folk of Bon Iver and the crushing vastness of Holy Fawn and Deafheaven. Session drummer Nicola Dusmanic brought the programmed drums to life in the studio. Brad Boatright from Audiosiege Studios in Portland handled the mastering.

The five tracks pull from classic shoegaze, 80’s goth, post-rock and post-metal. Opening track “The Long Journey” spans eight minutes and becomes a microcosm of the entire EP, moving from avalanches of double bass and guitar swathes to ambient verses that glide with unease. “Abandon” introduces piano and electronic elements with soaring choruses that feel like endless vistas. “Pipe Dream” marks the halfway point as the first track John wrote for the project, offering a more straight up rock song. “Analysis / Paralysis” arrived fully formed and constantly evolves through separate movements before reaching its devastating blackgaze crescendo. Gabriel says of the closing track “Vessel”, it was the song he’d been trying to write all along.

Gabriel penned the lyrics during a period where his mental health issues had become more acute in the wake of the pandemic. Themes of mortality, depression and anxiety snake through the EP. The duo prefer to write in isolation before demoing and sharing, then the process becomes entirely collaborative. John recorded all lead guitars, rhythm guitars, bass and synth at Westland Studios where he previously worked as a professional recording engineer. Gabriel handled vocals, rhythm guitars, synth, piano and ambient sections remotely. The sonic palette pulls from endless influences while maintaining the juxtaposition of light and dark, beauty and ugliness, melancholia and elation at its core.

Debra Jean Creelman Unveils Soulful Single “Bloom” Ahead Of Her Cinematic New Album ‘Little Town’

0

Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Debra Jean Creelman returns with her captivating new single “Bloom,” a soulful exploration of self-reflection and personal growth. Born from a writing exercise and developed alongside longtime creative partner Sean Cronin, the track was recorded live to tape in a barn in Catskill, NY. The production features a powerhouse ensemble including Adam Brisbin of Big Thief and Noah B. Harley, with later vocal overdubs in Vancouver featuring Dave Genn and Kendel Carson. Creelman describes the track as an emotional experience designed to place her powerhouse vocals front and center while reflecting her deepest musical influences.

“Bloom” serves as the first glimpse into Creelman’s fifth studio album, ‘Little Town’, which arrived on December 5. The 17-track collection is a visceral and vaudevillian journey that unfolds like a short film, bridging her early days with Mother Mother to her current status as a fearless solo artist. This album features warmth and texture derived from analog tape recording sessions at Basement Floods Records. From the radiant harmonies of the lead single to the janky rock energy of “Bing Bong Baby,” ‘Little Town’ showcases Creelman’s distinct vocals and Cronin’s cinematic storytelling.

The Dream Machine return to the spotlight with the announcement of their third studio album, ‘Fort Perch Rock’, set for release on February 27, 2026, via Run On Records. Accompanying the news is their latest single, “Flowers On The Razor Wire,” a high-octane rush of new wave rock written in Berlin and heavily inspired by the legacy of The Ramones. The track marks a stylistic shift toward radio-ready melodies following the band’s previous underground long-players. Lead vocalist Zak McDonnell reveals the song’s origins can be traced back to an erotic graphic novel discovered in a second-hand antique shop, blending his fascination with 70s punk and modern guitar influences like The Strokes.

The 12-track album, recorded and self-produced between the Wirral and Liverpool, serves as a tribute to the coastal life and lost arcades of the band’s hometown, New Brighton. The project will be available on multiple formats, including a special edition butterfly effect vinyl that features a bonus glow-in-the-dark 7-inch EP of covers paying homage to Motown legends The Shirelles. Tim Maycox Returns As Wooden Tape With His Second Album ‘Wool’ Documenting A Liverpool Childhood

0

Tim Maycox returns under his Wooden Tape alias to release his second album ‘Wool’ through God Unknown Records. This collection follows his 2023 debut ‘Music From Another Place’ and functions as a sonic photo album of childhood memories from 1970s Liverpool. The music uses synth pads, chiming acoustic guitars, and treated percussion to create a personal mythology. Released on 180gm green vinyl, the project captures a specific era before Maycox and his family moved away from the city. This record sounds like a beautifully constructed work of musical hauntology that sparkles with a kind of healing magic.

The album transports listeners to a period of double-decker buses, diesel fumes, and sticky summer heat. Maycox recreates a world defined by market trips for plastic Zorro swords and the specific local delight of a Dracula lolly ice. These memories are trapped in the amber tint of Ektachrome and translated into experimental electronica. Critics identify the work as a clockmaker’s ambient piece that demands full attention to embrace its deep inner beauty. The acknowledgement of both present and past is effortless as the songs thumb through the pages of this audio photo album.

‘Wool’ conjures a liminal space between memory and imagination with nods to acoustic folk and the classic output of Warp Records. Maycox meticulously crafts each arrangement to reflect the transition from a Liverpool childhood into a new chapter. The result is a body of work without side or cynicism that remains both intimate and vulnerable. It serves as a definitive document of an artist exploring his own history through sophisticated sound design and heartfelt melody. This release ensures that these fleeting moments of the 1970s are preserved for a modern audience to explore.

Toronto shoegaze revelation One Hundred Moons officially release their nine track album ‘Black Avalanche’ to guide listeners through ethereal soundscapes and introspective melodies. This body of work sits where shoegaze and dream pop overlap while leaning into long arcs of tension and a steady weight. The album functions as a guided trip through beauty and doubt with every song creating a world of its own. This record sounds like a transportive listen that invites the audience to sink deeper into its dense and mesmerizing production with every passing minute.

The title track opens like a myth retold through static and reverb while songs such as “Death of the Party” move with a shadowed grace. Throughout the collection, the band demonstrates an expert command of atmosphere and texture that balances discordant guitars with eerie harmonies. Lyrically, the release explores sentiments of transformation and longing that remain simultaneously expansive and intensely personal. The closing track “Into Nowhere” stretches these feelings outward with distortion and reverb blooming into something cinematic and infinite.

This record represents a bold step into new territory for the band by combining the emotional gravity of Radiohead with the haze of My Bloody Valentine. The group captures a signature blend of post-rock and 90s alt-rock grit that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. ‘Black Avalanche’ is an exceptional work of art from a band clearly hitting its stride in the current shoegaze revival.
