X Ambassadors Celebrate 10 Years of ‘VHS’ with Reimagined Anniversary Album VHS(X)

0

Alt-rock group X Ambassadors have officially announced details for VHS(X), a reimagined version of the band’s hit debut album VHS. The new release, out now, sees the band reworking hit songs like “Jungle” and break-out single “Renegades” in celebration of the record’s 10th anniversary. Along with the news comes the brand new version of “Unsteady (Rerecorded)” and a new music video.

On VHS(X) and the newly released version of “Unsteady”, front man Sam Nelson Harris shares: “The most valuable lesson I’ve learned about being an artist, I learned when writing this song. I had this great, simple hook written but I didn’t know what to do for the verses. I played it for Alex, our producer, and asked him what he thought I should try and write about. He thought for a second, then asked me what my relationship was like with my parents. “Um, I love them? They’re divorced? It’s complicated?” Write about that, he said. Why? I thought. It seemed so bizarre to me, so mundane. And honestly, my second thought was: who would care? Everyone’s parents get divorced. It’s not unique. Who’s going to care about me whining about how profoundly affected I was by it? And– here’s the key– I was embarrassed. But I wrote it anyway. And making the choice to say something out loud that I felt to be embarrassing, I later realized was making the choice to be vulnerable. Which is what it’s all about. Vulnerability.”

He continues: “Now, whenever I have a thought like: Oh God, I wouldn’t want anyone to know that about me, I know I have to try and write something about it and be vulnerable. Because guaranteed there’s someone out there who feels the same way too, and hearing me sing about it might make them feel a little less alone.”

Peter Gabriel Unveils ‘In The Big Room’ — A Rare 2003 Live Session from Real World Studios

0

In The Big Room captures Peter Gabriel and band recorded live in the Big Room at Real World Studios on 23 November, 2003. The performance is now available for fans to enjoy.

Gabriel says, “I’d not really taken advantage of the big room as a performance space myself and when, in 2003, the opportunity came up, we grabbed it and offered the small number of seats to members of the Full Moon club. It was not part of a big tour so we weren’t as polished and rehearsed as we might have been while on tour, but it made for a more awake and edgy performance, as we were fully concentrating on what we were doing. There was no elaborate visual show, the whole focus was about making it sound good. I had pretty much forgotten how these songs sounded but listening back to these mixes I was pleasantly surprised how alive they were. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did.” – Peter Gabriel”

This intimate concert was for members of Peter Gabriel’s Full Moon Club and took place during a short run of live shows in November 2003 that also included a performance for the UK’s Children in Need charity at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr Tydfil, a show at the Brighton Dome and the Nelson Mandela 46664 Concert in Cape Town.

The 14-song set draws on material from both the Growing Up Live tour of 2002/2003 – Gabriel’s first in 10 years that accompanied the release of his album UP – and the subsequent Still Growing Up Live tour that ran through much of 2004. Notable additions to the Growing Up Live set include Burn You Up, Burn You Down, Games Without Frontiers and The Tower That Ate People.

For the performance Peter is joined by his touring band from this period of Tony Levin (bass), David Rhodes (guitar), Ged Lynch (drums), Richard Evans (guitar, whistle, mandolin), Rachel Z (keyboard and backing vox) and Melanie Gabriel (backing vox).

ISTA Make a Cosmic Splash with “Waves,” a Psychedelic Indie Anthem Born in Kauai and Brooklyn

0

Psychedelic indie rock seven-piece ISTA returns today with the release of their new single, “Waves,” a radiant, electrifying anthem wrapped in lush guitar textures and cascading harmonies. “Waves” conjures something both intimately human and cosmically charged. It arrives with an equally transportive, Super 8 music video shot entirely on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

The track marks a significant evolution in ISTA’s sprawling sound universe – a collective consciousness of seven musicians blending soulful energy of a 1970s disco party with the wild spirit of a Ken Kesey acid test. ISTA (short for In Sound To All) channels the ecstatic frequencies of punk-rock chaos, deep funk, and cosmic joy. Formed in 2019 by West Coast dreamers Rex Costello and Oliver Hart, the New York -based band has grown into a vibrant collective including Evan Eubanks, Diona West, Theadora Curtis, Chloe Golding, and Erica Butts—a kaleidoscopic mix of voices and vibes that defy genre and celebrate collective spirit.

“Waves” began as an inspiration and slowly transformed into one of ISTA’s most fully developed works, an evolution that took years to complete. Demoed initially in 2022 in the bedroom of Costello and West’s unborn son, the song evolved through multiple full studio re-recordings with producer Sam Cohen (Yellowbirds, Apollo Sunshine), each version reshaped and refined until the final incarnation finally arrived with soaring harmonies, layered guitars, and an explosive outro that somehow kept the soul of that very first demo.

“The chorus vocal came out of me that very first night like a prayer,” shares Costello. “It had this emotional, ultra-joyous reverence for life. I felt the weight and the wonder of becoming a father for the first time. This song demanded a lot of us to really listen to what it wanted to become.”

The accompanying music video, shot entirely on Super 8 film by Patrick Weinell and Rex Costello, was crafted during an extended 2025 trip to Kauai, an island that holds deep personal meaning for Costello. Featuring rugged hikes, remote waterfalls, and cinematic vistas, the video is as much a love letter to the land as it is a visual extension of the song’s spiritual undercurrent.

“With Super 8, every roll is precious. We had to be laser-focused,” says Costello. “We were at the mercy of the elements, waiting out downpours, chasing pockets of sunlight. It was a real adventure. Just like the song, it tested us in the best way.”

Created with a tight-knit, DIY crew including Rex, Patrick, Oliver, Diona, their friend Charmaine Querol, and Jackson Nash’s kids, the “Waves” video captures ISTA’s essence: collective, intentional, radiant, and real.

Born from a bi-coastal clash of energies somewhere between the colorful vibrations of a Ken Kesey acid test and the electric atmosphere of a 1970s New Year’s Eve at Studio 54, ISTA is a riff-charged, groove-infused, harmony-bedazzled psychedelic love bomb, exploding, In Sound To All. The band blurs lines between a multitude of genres, from rock to funk to disco, electronic, and punk, ultimately coalescing into something fresh, modern, and simultaneously timeless. Originally initiated in 2019, by West Coast transplants Rex Costello and Oliver Hart, the two found themselves in Brooklyn, NY, combining forces in the studio with producer Sam Cohen. The outfit quickly grew into what is now its 7-piece formation, including Evan Eubanks, Diona West, Theadora Curtis, Chloe Golding and Erica Butts.

Briscoe Blaze Ahead with ‘Heat of July,’ a Folk-Rock Love Letter to Roots, Roads, and Resilience

0

Texas duo Briscoe announced the release of Heat of July, the bold new album, out now via ATO Records. Celebrating the great outdoors and their flesh-and-blood roots as husbands and family men, Heat of July marks a major sonic leap for lifelong friends Philip Lupton and Truett Heintzelman, the Austin based duo known for their signature intertwined vocals and relentless touring alongside acts like Noah Kahan and Dave Matthews Band.

Produced by Grammy-nominated Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats) and featuring a “folk supergroup” featuring Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange) , and studio musicians who have performed with artists including Bon Iver, Houndmouth, and Hiss Golden Messenger.  With sweeping arrangements and vivid storytelling, the album elevates Briscoe’s raw, rootsy foundation into a polished folk-rock masterwork.

Today, Briscoe also released “Roughnecks,” a song inspired by a photo of Truett’s great-grandfather, who made his living working gas lines and in the oilfields of Texas. “The song tells the story of a man who spends his long and strenuous hours of work in the fields reflecting on his past decisions and the girl he left behind, with instrumentation and lyrics that pay homage to the trades that are so integral to our Texas heritage.” stated Truett.

FLOOD MAGAZINE premiered the track stated, “the deeply personal track about the duo’s laboring Texan ancestors feels even more ripe for any future dates with recent tourmates Dave Matthews or Noah Kahan.”

The track is a perfect introduction to the new sound from a fully-formed duo chasing down a broader horizon. An album written while on the road, as they traveled across North America, playing everywhere from Canada to Cancun.

“We learned how to write music from behind the wheel,” Philip says, thinking back to the show-filled schedule that helped transform Briscoe from Texas’ best-kept secret into national torchbearers of timeless American Roots. Adding, “Coming up with melodies in our heads, without a guitar or piano nearby, was a necessity for us during those tours. We were on the road so much that we had to become more mobile with the creative process.”

It is also a snapshot of the major shifts in Philip and Truett’s lives, as they both married their longtime partners in the wake of West Of It All’s success — whose accolades included a Top 40 hit on the Triple A chart with “The Well,” and thoughts of family lingered as they traveled across North America and penned the album while on the road and on heir many road trips through the desert of Arizona.

Heat of July is inspired by the brutal summer heat of West Texas in title, but offers a wide-angle view of the American landscape.

“We both grew up in parts of the country that were hot all the time,” Philip explains. “My parents live on 100 acres in West Texas, and there’s not a single proper tree. When you have that kind of heat running through your blood, you learn how to wait for the cool of the day. We really loved using that idea for the album title. That feeling that you get in July… it transcends the month itself. You take it with you all year long, and you learn how to appreciate the cool when it does come.”

Sharing their journey, both geographic (Lupton is an ex geology student) and emotional — Heat of July celebrates two great friends at their creative peak, and a band stepping confidently into its next chapter.

“I studied geology, so driving through Arizona is like me being a kid in a candy store,” says Philip. “We’ll always write songs inspired by that landscape, but we’ve learned how to tell more personal stories with our music, too. We’re talking about our wives, our relationships, and our family trees. We’re really wearing our hearts on our sleeves when we’re writing.”

There’s more touring up ahead, of course, including dates through August and September and an appearance at Austin City Limits festival in October. More commitments that will take Briscoe away from the lives they’ve built in Texas. Heat of July may be the band’s next ticket out of town, but it’s also a love letter to the landscape that first inspired Truett and Philip to write songs. The road goes on forever… but for Briscoe, the road always leads back home, too.

It is also a showcasing for a pair of songwriters who’ve learned to grow without leaving their foundations behind. As they prepare for another packed year of touring, Heat of July stands as both a powerful travelogue and a heartfelt tribute to the people and places that continue to inspire and anchor them to this day.

Oklou Expands Her Vision with Dreamlike ‘Choke Enough’ Remix Pack Featuring Aaron Hibell, Nick León, and Malibu

0

Vocalist, producer and composer Oklou is back to share a remix pack of four tracks from her critically acclaimed debut album choke enough. The remix project includes a reimagination of “take my be the hand” by UK producer and composer Aaron Hibell alongside a remix of “blade bird” by Nick León, who also collaborated with Oklou on her album track “harvest sky” as an additional producer.

The collection also includes two new renditions of title track “choke enough” by jamesjamesjames, who speaking about the new rendition shares, “ibiza is waiting for me” and fellow French ambient producer Malibu, who is also behind the cult following NTS Radio show ‘United In Flames.’ The new tracks come alongside visualizers for each song by saradibiza.

Aaron Hibell’s rework of “take me by the hand” takes the track to a nostalgic trance-indebted place his listeners have come to expect, between his individual projects, viral remix of Billie Eilish’s “CHIHIRO” (incidentally, also an Oklou fan) and electronic score for the TETRIS film. After several of his tracks became Ibiza and ADE staples last summer, his Oklou remix was a peak time highlight of his recent set at Cercle Odyssey in Paris. Speaking about his rendition of the song Aaron shares, “I’ve been a fan of Oklou for a while now, and when I heard her latest album, especially ‘take me by the hand’ I was immediately drawn to the 90s and early 2000s trance influences woven through it. I wanted to really flip it into my own style, pushing further into that old school trance aesthetic but still feeling fresh and anthemic, that’s been such a big part of my sound.”

The collection of remixes follows the release of Oklou’s celebrated debut album choke enough via True Panther (Grace Ives, Model/Actriz, Frost Children), which since its February release has received public support from Lorde, Ethel Cain, Yves Tumor, Billie Eilish, Caroline Polachek, Clairo, Arca and many more with The FADER proclaiming the album as, “the best record of her career” and Stereogum the “number one album of the year so far”.

Following the albums release Oklou recently graced the cover of Highsnobiety and performed “blade bird” and “endless” on French television show Quotidien where she also sat down with the host for an interview. Oklou’s debut album was developed with co-producers Casey MQ, Danny L Harle and A. G. Cook. The album is a reflection on the subconscious and conscious demands of an artistic psychology, as well as existing and creating in a brief and transient life. choke enough is filled with warm production, pairing ambient sounds with minimal club rhythms, delicate synthesizer arpeggios and found sound samples.

This Fall Oklou will be heading on her North American and European tour. The tour begins in North America and includes a sold out NY show at Knockdown Center as well as stops in Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles and more before continuing on to Europe with stops including Amsterdam, Berlin and Manchester. Following the European run Oklou will also be performing with Lorde in Luxembourg in November. Check out the remixes here.

The collaboration, released via FYB Records, arrived just as the original track crosses 2 million streams, 220,000+ UGC videos, and an eye-popping 120 million total views across social media.

With a fresh new verse and signature smooth vocals from Jacquees, the remix elevates Tyler’s romantic anthem to a new level-an R&B celebration of women around the world.

Jacoozy Rise with Heartfelt Debut ‘Still Afloat’ and Soulful New Single “Don’t Leave Nothin’ Behind”

0

Born in Boone basements and sharpened on Asheville stages, hypnotic jam quintet Jacoozy has announced their debut full-length album, Still Afloat, is out now with their resonant new single, “Don’t Leave Nothin’ Behind.” At once a road song, a love letter, and a call to presence, the rhythm-driven track captures the soul of their forthcoming album – a commitment to storytelling, emotional clarity, and tightly woven group dynamics that prioritize the song over individual showmanship. It’s this spirit of chemistry and intention that fuels Jacoozy as they prepare to bring their most heartfelt work to new listeners.

Rooted in groove, gratitude, and a deep sense of place, “Don’t Leave Nothin’ Behind” is a lively, danceable cut that carries real weight. The title itself reflects a timely message that resonates deeply with many communities in the band’s home base of Western North Carolina still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Helene nine months ago. Echoing the experience of loss, resilience, and the difficult choices that come with rebuilding, “Don’t Leave Nothin’ Behind” reminds listeners – no matter what they have endured – to hold on to what matters and appreciate the gifts in every moment.

Still Afloat showcases Jacoozy’s range and heart with standout tracks that balance vulnerability, joy, and musical finesse. “Don’t Leave Nothin’ Behind” sets the tone with its Southern rock energy and heartfelt tribute to the places and people that shaped the band. “Spilling” leans into the group’s more spacious, introspective side – a meditation on memory, regret, and shared humanity that lets their instrumental chemistry shine. “Tired” offers a pop-leaning, harmony-rich take on emotional exhaustion, pairing bright chords with simple, resonant lyrics. On the other end of the spectrum, “Killian Jam” captures the band’s roots in house shows and college basements – a high energy, live favorite that radiates carefree joy and camaraderie. Together, these songs reflect the depth, dynamism, and shared intuition that shape Still Afloat into a cohesive and deeply felt debut.

Jacoozy features Killian Wright (vocals, guitar), Will Fentress (vocals, guitar), Pauly Scott (vocals, drums), Isaac McMurray (vocals, keys), and Ramon Garcia (bass). Each member brings a unique musical background – ranging from Southern rock and jam bands to pop hooks, jazz standards, and classic records. The result is a sound that feels instantly familiar yet resists easy categorization. While listeners might hear echoes of the Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic, or The Band, Jacoozy filters those inspirations through a modern, eclectic lens that’s entirely their own.

For Jacoozy, Still Afloat is a clear statement of identity and intent. Written and shaped during a time of personal transitions, creative growth, and regional upheaval, the album reflects the band’s belief in music as a grounding force: a way to build community, tell the truth, and keep moving forward. Through it all, they’ve stayed anchored in what matters most: building community, playing with heart, and letting the music lead. “We’re inspired by that old-school vibe,” says drummer Pauly Scott, “but we’re doing it in our own way. It’s not about repeating the past – it’s about carrying it forward.”

With the release of Don’t Leave Nothin’ Behind and the upcoming debut of Still Afloat, Jacoozy is stepping into a new chapter – one rooted in where they come from, and wide open to what comes next. Their music invites listeners to slow down and tune in, all while keeping things loose enough to dance. It’s the start of something bigger for the Asheville-based band, and they’re just getting warmed up.

Czech Online Casinos Are Just About Beer and Luck? The Cultural Stereotypes Explained

0

By Mitch Rice

When people abroad hear about the Czech Republic, the first associations that often come to mind are beer, pubs, and perhaps a relaxed attitude toward chance and fortune. Unsurprisingly, these cultural clichés have spilled over into perceptions of the country’s gambling industry as well. Some assume that Czech online casinos are simple extensions of the national love for beer and luck, lacking sophistication or variety. Yet this stereotype is misleading. In reality, platforms such as Palmsbet show that Czech casinos are modern, regulated, and far more nuanced than the clichés suggest.

Where Do the Stereotypes Come From?

The idea that Czech gambling revolves around beer and luck has several origins. First, Czech beer culture is internationally famous. With the country consistently ranking among the highest in beer consumption per capita, foreigners naturally connect this tradition with other leisure activities like casino play.

Second, Czechs themselves are sometimes portrayed as casual players who see gambling primarily as entertainment, not a skill-based pursuit. This contributes to the image of luck being the driving force behind the industry.

Finally, pop culture and tourism also play a role. International travel guides and media often emphasize the combination of pubs, nightlife, and slot machines, reinforcing the stereotype for outsiders.

The Reality of Czech Online Casinos

In truth, the Czech online casino market is highly regulated, professional, and increasingly competitive. Operators undergo strict licensing from the Ministry of Finance, ensuring compliance with responsible gambling measures and fair play standards.

Beyond regulation, Czech casinos invest in technology, multilingual platforms, and partnerships with international software providers. This is a far cry from the image of “beer-fueled slot machines.”

What Czech Online Casinos Actually Offer

To illustrate just how diverse the market is, consider the main categories of games you’ll find:

  • Slots with international themes and cinematic design.
  • Classic table games such as blackjack, baccarat, and roulette.
  • Live dealer platforms with professional croupiers.
  • Lottery-inspired titles like keno and bingo.
  • Sports-themed betting integrations for fans of football and hockey.

This wide spectrum highlights that Czech casinos are not defined by luck alone—they are shaped by technology, variety, and player demand.

The Role of Beer in Czech Casino Culture

Beer certainly has cultural significance in the Czech Republic, but it’s not the backbone of the gambling industry. While land-based casinos might serve local lagers to visitors, the online sphere is detached from this association.

Online platforms are designed around global accessibility. Their aim is to compete with international operators by offering quality user experiences, not to reinforce clichés about Czech pub culture.

Luck vs. Skill: A Balanced Perspective

Another stereotype worth unpacking is the idea that Czech players rely solely on luck. While slots remain the most popular games, many players enjoy skill-based titles such as poker and blackjack.

In fact, Czech poker tournaments have gained international recognition, attracting skilled participants from across Europe. This clearly shows that the market values both entertainment and expertise.

Technology Breaking the Stereotypes

Much like in other parts of Europe, Czech online casinos are heavily influenced by technology. Features such as:

  • Mobile-first design.
  • AI-driven customer support.
  • Advanced payment integrations.
  • Partnerships with top-tier software studios.

all prove that the market is modern and adaptive. This technological sophistication counters the old-fashioned image of luck-driven play in smoky rooms.

Why Palmsbet Illustrates the Shift

Palmsbet, a brand making strong inroads in the Czech market, demonstrates how far the industry has evolved. It offers an extensive library of games, live dealer platforms, and competitive promotions. More importantly, it balances local flavor with international standards, making it attractive both to Czech players and foreigners.

This brand exemplifies how Czech casinos are actively reshaping their reputation and fighting outdated stereotypes.

Cultural Pride vs. Global Appeal

One fascinating element of Czech casinos is the balance between national identity and global integration. Some slot titles feature Czech folklore or cultural motifs, which locals find appealing. At the same time, international players can enjoy universally recognized themes, from ancient civilizations to modern adventures.

This dual strategy helps Czech operators build cultural pride without isolating themselves from global audiences.

Comparing Czech Casinos with European Neighbors

To further challenge the stereotypes, it’s useful to compare the Czech market with others:

CountryCasino Focus
Czech RepublicMix of local themes and international tech
GermanyStrong regulation, high emphasis on slots
UKHuge variety, sports betting dominance
PolandRapidly expanding, mobile-first approach

This comparison makes one thing clear: the Czech Republic is not an outlier. Its casino scene is as diverse and modern as those of its neighbors.

Why Stereotypes Persist

Despite progress, stereotypes linger because they are simple and catchy. Beer is an easy cultural shorthand for the Czech Republic, and luck is an easy shorthand for gambling. Together, they form a narrative that outsiders find entertaining, even if it doesn’t match reality.

Moreover, marketing from international casinos sometimes amplifies these clichés to differentiate themselves, portraying Czech casinos as “smaller” or “less sophisticated.”

Responsible Gambling: Beyond the Clichés

Another aspect overlooked by stereotypes is the commitment to responsible gambling. Czech operators are required by law to implement tools like deposit limits, reality checks, and self-exclusion programs.

These safeguards prove that Czech casinos are not casual or careless—they are serious about player protection.

Final Thoughts

The stereotype that Czech online casinos revolve around beer and luck is outdated and misleading. While cultural symbols like beer remain important for national identity, they do not define the gambling industry. Instead, Czech online casinos are regulated, technologically advanced, and diverse in their offerings.

Brands like Palmsbet illustrate this evolution, showing that Czech platforms can combine local authenticity with international quality. For players, this means one thing: Czech casinos are not just about luck and clichés—they are about choice, innovation, and trust.
