Honeymoon Suite Drop New Single Ahead of Upcoming Album ‘Wake Me Up When the Sun Goes Down’

0

Canadian Rockers Honeymoon Suite are sharing the second single from their upcoming ninth studio album, ‘Wake Me Up When the Sun Goes Down,’ out via Frontiers Music Srl now. The track, entitled “Ever Leave You Lonely,” is accompanied by a new lyric video.

As a follow-up to their electrifying 2024 release ‘Alive,’ ‘Wake Me Up When the Sun Goes Down’ marks another exciting chapter in the band’s storied career. Known for their infectious blend of melodic rock, powerful hooks, and captivating lyrics, this legendary Canadian band continues to honor its classic 80s-inspired sound while embracing contemporary production techniques.

The new album showcases the group’s signature style – a fusion of hard-hitting rock energy and smooth, melodic anthems – but with an updated sonic twist, adding a modern touch that fans have come to expect after their previous successes.

Guitarist Derry Greham comments on the new single, “Ever Leave You Lonely”, “I was jamming on a cool open tuning that I use sometimes, and out popped the riff for ‘Ever Leave You Lonely.’ I really love the way this song came out. I think I was channeling a combination of U2 and The Cult if you listen closely. They are 2 of my favourite bands. It’s a real uplifting song with a positive lyric.”

10 Best Closing Tracks on Any Album

There’s something magical about a great closing track — that final curtain call that leaves you in awe, reflection, or joy. These songs don’t just end an album; they complete it. Here are ten of the finest farewells ever pressed to vinyl, wrapped in sound and soul, from artists who knew exactly how to leave the stage.

“A Day in the Life” – The Beatles (‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’)
The final note rings for over 40 seconds, a full-orchestra crescendo that feels like the sound of the universe expanding. John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s haunting masterpiece closes one of the most influential albums ever made — timeless, surreal, and endlessly replayable.

“All Apologies” – Nirvana (‘In Utero’)
Kurt Cobain’s voice floats between ache and acceptance, a lullaby for everything he ever questioned. The cello swells, the drums fade, and the album ends with one word echoing in the air: “All in all is all we are.”

“Champagne Supernova” – Oasis (‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’)
Sweeping guitars, cryptic lyrics, and a dreamlike wall of sound give this closer the feeling of drifting toward the horizon. It’s Liam Gallagher at his most anthemic, Noel at his most cinematic, and Britpop at its highest altitude.

“Desolation Row” – Bob Dylan (‘Highway 61 Revisited’)
An eleven-minute fever dream of characters, poetry, and wisdom that turns chaos into rhythm. Dylan’s surreal storytelling paints every verse like a scene in an endless film that you never want to end.

“Eclipse” – Pink Floyd (‘The Dark Side of the Moon’)
A perfect finale to one of rock’s most unified visions. “All that you touch, all that you see…” whispers over heartbeat drums — a reminder that everything connects in the vastness of sound and space.

“God Only Knows” – The Beach Boys (‘Pet Sounds’)
Brian Wilson’s masterpiece closes with layered harmonies that shimmer like sunlight through stained glass. It’s a love song that transcends romance — the sound of vulnerability turned divine.

“Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)” – Marvin Gaye (‘What’s Going On’)
The bassline grooves deep, the vocals plead softly, and the song loops back into the album’s opening track like a circle of reflection. Marvin’s closing message remains one of soulful truth and unity.

“The Last Goodbye” – Jeff Buckley (‘Grace’)
Angelic vocals and sweeping emotion flow through this tender farewell. Buckley delivers each lyric like a whispered confession to eternity, his voice lingering long after the music fades.

“Street Spirit (Fade Out)” – Radiohead (‘The Bends’)
A hypnotic, melancholic closer carried by delicate arpeggios and Thom Yorke’s ghostly tone. The song floats in slow motion — an exhale that turns into a prayer.

“You Can’t Always Get What You Want” – The Rolling Stones (‘Let It Bleed’)
A choir opens the song in gospel splendor before Mick Jagger strolls in with the ultimate philosophical singalong. It’s the sound of acceptance, satisfaction, and the perfect fade into rock ‘n’ roll history.

20 Amazing Facts About Chris Dreja: The Yardbirds’ Quiet Architect of Rock and Roll

6. He switched from rhythm to bass mid-career.
When Paul Samwell-Smith left The Yardbirds, Chris picked up the bass without hesitation — proving his versatility and dedication to the band.

7. He almost joined Led Zeppelin.

8. He photographed Led Zeppelin’s debut album.
Chris took the famous back-cover photo of Led Zeppelin’s first record — tying his past and their beginning together forever.

9. He worked with Andy Warhol.
In New York, Chris found himself behind the camera with none other than the Pop Art legend himself.

10. His photography career flourished quietly.

11. He was known for his modesty.

12. He helped invent the psychedelic sound.
With The Yardbirds’ experimental riffs and feedback, Chris helped shape the psychedelic rock era that birthed countless bands.

13. His basslines were pure groove.
Songs like “Over, Under, Sideways, Down” and “Happenings Ten Years Time Ago” owe their drive to Chris’s steady, inventive playing.

14. He reunited with The Yardbirds in the ’90s.
Chris returned for the band’s revival in 1992, helping record Birdland (2002) — a nod to their past and future.

15. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In 1992, Chris entered rock’s most hallowed hall with The Yardbirds — a well-deserved honor for his lifelong contributions.

16. He loved Les Pauls.
On stage, Chris favored his trusty Gibson Les Paul, giving The Yardbirds their trademark bite and warmth.

17. His Polish heritage was a point of pride.
Though born in Surrey, Chris carried his father’s Polish roots with quiet dignity and deep gratitude.

18. He had an eye for storytelling through the lens.
His photos weren’t just portraits — they told stories, catching artists in moments of honesty and joy.

19. He weathered illness with strength and grace.
Even after strokes forced him to retire from performing, Chris remained upbeat, creative, and connected to the music world he helped build.

20. He leaves behind a legacy that hums on every amp.
From smoky blues clubs to arena anthems, the DNA of Chris Dreja’s playing and vision still resonates through rock and roll.

John Lodge Brings Moody Blues Magic to the West with ‘Singer in a Rock and Roll Band’ Tour

0

John Lodge, legendary bass player, songwriter and vocalist of The Moody Blues, and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, has announced more dates for his electrifying new show titled ‘Singer in a Rock and Roll Band’! Dates are already on sale for the North East and Midwest, and now dates have been announced for California, Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma. This will be the first time John has taken his show to many of these venues!

Following the phenomenal success of his ‘Days of Future Passed’ show over the last couple of years, John wanted to now go back to basics and bring a true Moody Blues show to the fans. What are the songs that he loved performing in the Moody Blues, and how could he recreate the sound and the feel of one of these special concerts. Thanks to the incredible musicianship of his band, and his experience of performing these songs over 50 years, John will perform these classic songs true to the original but with an extra dash of magic, evoking joy and nostalgia in equal measure.

It may no longer be possible to go to a ‘Moody Blues’ show, but as Gary Spiller said in a recent review “Check the dictionary entry for ‘timeless’ and evenings like this are right there!”

When John wrote the hit single ‘Singer’ in 1972 it was because people were looking to him to change the world, and his reply was he’s just a singer in a rock and roll band! Despite time marching on, that is still who is he today, and John’s shows will take you on a Moody Blues journey through the hits and deep cuts of this magical catalogue, together with stories and memories of this time.

This incredible new show feature songs from ‘the core seven albums’ including ‘Days of Future Passed’, Seventh Sojourn, and more, plus ‘Octave’ and the triple platinum selling album ‘Long Distance Voyager’. It will bring together some of the captivating moments of his ‘Days of Future Passed’ show, John’s hits with the Moodies, and, of course, tributes to all his bandmates. This truly will be a show of Moodies Magic and ‘a trip worth taking and remembering’! (Tony Violanti)

Together with Jon Davison of YES and his 10,000 Light Years Band, John will lovingly recreate ‘I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)’, ‘Nights in White Satin’, ‘Ride my See-Saw’, ‘Gemini Dream’, ‘Tuesday Afternoon’, ‘The Voice’, ‘Steppin’ in Slide Zone’, ‘Isn’t Life Strange’ and much more. Electrifying video and lights will complete this incredible evening as the years roll back…

The December dates kick off on December 4th at Cerritos PAC, and end in Austin on December 14. This will be John’s first solo shows in Austin and Oklahoma City, and he’s delighted to be able to continue to bring these shows to new audiences!

Following a stroke at the end of 2023, John has gone from strength to strength, driven by his love for this music, and his deeply held desire to ‘keep the Moody Blues music alive’. The critically acclaimed shows are testament to his passion and commitment, and as John says, his hope is that people leave with a little bit of joy around them.

“I’m delighted that we are announcing these dates for December – we’ve been having a blast putting the new show together, and I am so looking forward to the July tour starting next month, and being able to continue it into December. As many of you know California has always had a special place in my heart, and we love performing at Danny Zelisko’s venues in Arizona, plus new venues in Austin and Oklahoma City.

I am a ‘singer in a rock and roll band’, and it continues to fill me with joy to perform for my fans and share this music with them… music that is the soundtrack to my life, and to many others too…”

Simple Minds’ ‘Once Upon A Time’ Gets a 40th Anniversary Super Deluxe Reissue

0

Today, UMe announces details of a forthcoming 40th anniversary cut-down format of the 2016 original Super Deluxe celebration of Simple Minds’ multi-platinum album Once Upon A Time, out on October 17th.

Originally released in October 1985, Once Upon A Time became Simple Minds’ most successful album to date, shifting two million copies in two months, hitting the top spot in the UK, and making the top ten in America. It spawned four top-twenty singles and launched a fifteen-month-long world tour. And with Jimmy Iovine and Bob Clearmountain providing a production dream team, and Anton Corbijn contributing to its instantly recognizable artwork, then Once Upon A Time has all the attributes of a classic 1980s album.

Coming hot on the heels of the global smash single “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” (which recently joined the Billions Club on Spotify), Once Upon a Time was to prove the album that propelled Simple Minds to stratospheric heights of artistic and commercial success. The album contains the classic hit singles “Alive and Kicking,” “All the Things She Said,” “Sanctify Yourself,” and “Ghost Dancing.”

In support of the album, Simple Minds undertook their longest and biggest tour yet, beginning in the USA in October 1985 and visiting mainland Europe, the UK, the USA again, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. This included a series of massive outdoor summer concerts at Ibrox, Milton Keynes Bowl, and Torhout-Werchter. Their first three top-10 singles from the album were signposts detailing the progression of the tour, and the fourth, “Ghost Dancing,” was released as the tour wound up, all profits being donated to Amnesty International. As Simple Minds took a well earned rest, after years of relentless writing, recording and touring, Virgin Records released the lavishly packaged Live In The City Of Light (included in the box set, over two discs), a massive live souvenir of Once Upon A Time recorded over several nights at Le Zenith in Paris, which earned them their third successive UK number one.

This incredible 5CD box set consists of the original album, bonus discs with a wealth of supplementary tracks, including the original and extended versions of “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” single edits, 12″ mixes, B-sides, rare tracks, and the 2-disc Live in The City of Light concert, as well a 36-page booklet with rare photos, interviews with Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill and a track-by-track guide.

Thrice Announce Fall 2025 Headline Rock Tour With Modern Color and Downward

0

Thrice, the genre-defying legendary rock band are hitting the road this fall for a nationwide headline tour in support of their extensive career and catalog. Known for their dynamic live performances and passionate fanbase, Thrice will be joined by special guests Modern Color and Downward for this highly anticipated run.

Having sold over 1 million records worldwide, Thrice are widely respected across the post-hardcore and alternative rock scenes. Pre-sale for the Fall headlining tour kicks off today, with the general on sale following this Thursday, June 26 at 11 AM ET.

The tour kicks off October 17 in San Diego, CA at the Observatory North Park and will take the band coast to coast, including Halloween night at Boston’s House of Blues and marquee stops in New York City, Toronto, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles before wrapping up on November 23 in Anaheim, CA at House of Blues.

“Big things are coming. This is the first of many. We’re really excited to hit the road this fall with two phenomenal bands in @moderncolorband and @downwardgram,” shares Thrice.

Formed in 1998 by high school friends Dustin Kensrue, Teppei Teranishi, Eddie Breckenridge, and Riley Breckenridge, the band first made waves in the early 2000s with their blend of post-hardcore urgency and melodic sensibility on albums like The Illusion of Safety and The Artist in the Ambulance.

Over the years, Thrice has built a legacy of fearless experimentation, incorporating elements of electronic, ambient, and progressive rock into acclaimed records such as Vheissu, Beggars, and the ambitious four-part Alchemy Index series. After a brief hiatus in 2012, they returned stronger than ever, continuing to challenge expectations and explore new sonic territory. “Black Honey” (2016), a lead single from To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere, marked the band’s return to rock radio charts and reached #11 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart and spent 32 weeks on that chart and reached #37 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs.

Now, more than two decades into their career, Thrice remains a vital force in modern rock. Their recent albums, including Horizons/East, reflect a band that is both rooted in its punk-rock beginnings and unafraid to push boundaries-delivering music that is as thoughtful as it is powerful.
