Hollywood Undead Unleash Dark New Single “SAVIOR,” Showcasing Their Most Vulnerable Sound Yet

0

Hollywood Undead return with their most emotionally raw offering yet. Titled “SAVIOR”, the track is out now via Sumerian Records and showcases a darker, more vulnerable side of the band-one that trades swagger for soul-searching and resilience.

Built on a gargantuan guitar riff, a haunting vocal hook, and lyrics soaked in regret and revelation, “SAVIOR” explores the psychological wreckage of trauma, fame, and fractured identity. “You say that I’m your savior, but there’s no saving me,” the chorus confesses. True to form, Hollywood Undead deliver a track that is brutally honest, anthemic, and still undeniably catchy.

Speaking on the new release, Hollywood Undead share, “We’re all excited to follow up “Hollywood Forever” with our newest track “SAVIOR.” This song is special to us so we can’t wait for the Undead Army and beyond to hear it.”

“SAVIOR” lands in the midst of what is shaping up to be an explosive year for Hollywood Undead. Their 2024 single “Hollywood Forever” – their first with new label home, Sumerian Records – not only reintroduced their iconic masks to a new generation, to date it has racked up over 20.3 million cross-platform streams, peaked at #18 at Active Rock radio, held strong in the Top 20, and inspired a remix hailed as a “genre-killer” collaboration between some of LA’s fiercest underground voices.

Most recently, the band wrapped the spring 2025 leg of the Hollywood & N9ne co-headline tour with Tech N9ne, performing to thousands across the U.S. and Canada, and played incendiary mainstage slots at Sonic Temple, Welcome To Rockville, Louder Than Life, and are set to play Aftershock festival this fall. They will be joining Falling In Reverse on their ‘God Is A Weapon’ tour this August/September.

Annie Lennox Announces First-Ever Official Visual Memoir ‘Annie Lennox: Retrospective’ Featuring Over 200 Iconic Images

0

A long-awaited visual memoir from Annie Lennox, a legend of popular music and culture. This is the award-winning artist’s first and only official book—destined to be the must-have title for music lovers and will command attention from the fashion and photography worlds.

Over a career spanning almost half a century, Annie Lennox has established herself as one of the true superstars of pop music and an icon of popular culture. With Dave Stewart as Eurythmics, and later as a solo artist, she is responsible for some of the best-selling records of all time, as well as some of the most memorable imagery created around music. Always recognized for her unique approach to style and performance—she has been described as “the singer whose powerful, androgynous look defied the male gaze.”

Lennox has been filmed and photographed by all the great image-makers of our time, from Richard Avedon and Paolo Roversi to Bettina Rheims and Ellen von Unwerth. With Polaroids from her personal archives alongside iconic portraits, music video stills, and record covers, Annie Lennox: Retrospective collates more than two hundred images to create an illustrated memoir of a creative’s life, both in and out of the spotlight.

Made in close collaboration with the artist, this highly anticipated volume moves chronologically through the entirety of Lennox’s life and career—from the early 1970s when she first met Dave Stewart following through with Eurythmics in the 80s, and then as a solo artist starting in the 90s and onwards. Extracts of her lyrics accompany the photographs throughout. Engrossing captions and personal anecdotes shine light on periods of her life, to tell the stories behind the pictures.

At once intimate, revelatory, and celebratory, this is a beautiful and compelling document of the woman behind one of the strongest voices in music.

Tom Piazza’s New Book ‘Living in the Present with John Prine’ Offers Intimate Portrait of Late Songwriting Legend

0

Living in the Present with John Prine captures the legendary songwriter’s warmth, wit, and wisdom through the lens of an unexpected friendship with author Tom Piazza. Originally sparked by a 2018 road trip, the book evolved into a moving tribute after Prine’s passing. It’s an unforgettable, personal glimpse at a true American original in his final chapter.

In the spring of that year, Tom Piazza climbed into a 1977 Coupe de Ville with the great singer-songwriter John Prine to write an article for the Oxford American. Their Florida road trip ignited a deep friendship, full of tall tales over epic meals, long nights playing guitar and trading songs, and visits back and forth between their homes in Nashville and New Orleans. Along the way, Prine invited Piazza to work with him on a memoir, with John telling sprawling, often hilarious stories of his youth and family in Chicago and Kentucky, his breakthrough into the national spotlight, his riotous early years in the Nashville country scene, and much more. When Prine died suddenly of COVID in April 2020, that unfinished memoir evolved into an intimate and very personal narrative of the artist’s final years. In it, Piazza offers fans an unforgettable portrait of the beloved musician in his late glory—as a boyish cut-up, an epic raconteur, a great American poet, and, most important, a beloved friend.

Freedy Johnston’s Acclaimed Album “Can You Fly” Re-Released on Vinyl and CD After 25 Years

0

Described upon its 1992 release as “a perfect album” by The Village Voice, Freedy Johnston’s seminal Can You Fly is available again for the first time in a quarter-century. Remastered for compact disc and vinyl, including a clear vinyl first pressing, the 13-song Americana-rock classic is re-released by Sunset Blvd Records and out now.

“I just couldn’t be happier that this is happening,” said singer-songwriter Johnston from a tour stop in Tennessee. “And most of the fans’ response is, ‘It’s about time’!”

Originally released on Bar/None Records (of Montreal, Yo La Tengo etc.), Can You Fly earned Johnston a major label deal with Elektra Records, for whom he released four albums, and he was declared “songwriter of the year” by Rolling Stone (just ahead of a certain Kurt Cobain). AllMusic dubbed the album “stunningly accomplished,” while People described it as, “an extraordinary second album, one of the most tuneful, propulsive and penetrating of this or any year.” Can You Fly was also named as one of the ten best albums of 1992 by Fast Folk.

“It was the halcyon days,” recalled Johnston, who was still working as a typist in New York City at the time. “I was taken by surprise, because I’m pretty self-critical.”

A modest man who doesn’t even read his own reviews, Johnston is quick to credit all involved for the success of Can You Fly. Co-produced by Joe Jackson bassist Graham Maby, the album features Maby on bass, drummer Brian Doherty (Ben Folds, They Might Be Giants), and Marshall Crenshaw (“Someday, Someway”). The new Can You Fly re-release was mastered for CD and vinyl by Scott Hull (Steely Dan, John Mayer etc.)

Initially influenced by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and David Bowie while growing up in sleepy Kinsley, Kansas, Johnston’s later love for Elvis Costello is palpable on Can You Fly. But the two albums he was obsessively listening to while writing his sophomore record were The Pixies’ Surfer Rosa and The Mekons’ Honky Tonkin’.

“I was in a good place. I was happy; I was pie-eyed,” said Johnston, who today lives in New Jersey. “It was like, ‘I made it; I’m a songwriter now – I can really do it!'”

Can You Fly includes singles “In the New Sunshine,” for which a visualizer will be released, and “The Lucky One,” accompanied by its original Peter Feldman-directed clip. “The Lucky One” was later covered by Mary Lou Lord, while the album’s “California Thing” appeared on the soundtrack of Heavy, starring Liv Tyler and Deborah Harry. It’s the only record from Johnston’s fourteen-album catalogue of which he still performs every song on stage (other than “Down in Love,” which is a duet with Syd Straw on Can You Fly).

“Can You Fly is kinda the core of my life,” mulled Johnston as he looks forward to a whole new generation experiencing his re-released masterpiece. “I hope that some kid in their basement stealing their parents’ vinyl will maybe steal this one!”

Teenage Bottlerocket Release New Single “Post Mortem Depression” from Album ‘Ready to Roll’

0

Teenage Bottlerocket have just released their new single “Post Mortem Depression,” from their new LP Ready to Roll, the band’s first full length for Pirates Press Records.

ongwriter Kody Templeman says of the new single: “When we came up with the title ‘Post Mortem Depression,’ we all had a laugh. The idea of being depressed after you die is just idiotic. By the time I got around to writing the song, my mom had passed away and what was supposed to be a fun silly song inadvertently became kind of somber.

“It ultimately became a song about death. Dealing with the loss of a loved one and also examining a person’s own mortality. I tried to lighten the mood a bit by including some dumb references to milky eyes and stinking flesh, but it still comes across with some emotion. I guess that’s not a bad thing. I think everyone can relate to some part of the song. It didn’t turn out the way I expected it to, but I’m really happy with the results. Can’t win em all. ENJOY!”

Boris Announce North American Tour Celebrating 20th Anniversary of Landmark Album ‘Pink’

0

In celebration of the 20 Year Anniversary of their landmark album Pink, Japanese legends Boris have announced a North American tour in October + November 2025.

Since their humble beginnings, Boris have fused catchy heavy rock with expansive, experimental soundscapes- two seemingly opposing forces brought into harmony on a single sonic plane. With Pink as a pivotal point, Boris would go on to further evolve and deepen their own definition of “heavy” by releasing an immense body of work while continually expanding the scope of their creative endeavors. Even now, they remain unswayed by convention, honing a singular aesthetic that defies predictability.

This upcoming tour marks the 20th anniversary of Pink and will be performed by the three-piece lineup from that era. Centered around tracks from Pink, the tour will feature the very setlist that once boldly repainted the map of heavy rock with its vivid sonic colors.

Boris comment: “‘Do You Remember Pink Days?’ For those who experienced that era in real time-and for those encountering it live for the first time-this question will echo across personal timelines, bridging past and future alike.

“With a diverse array of guest acts appearing at shows across the U.S., this tour promises to be far more than a simple anniversary celebration. It offers a powerful, immersive glimpse into both the future and multifaceted nature of heavy rock itself.”
