Robert Plant Unveils ‘Saving Grace,’ a Mesmerizing Roots Odyssey with New Band

0

Today, Robert Plant releases Saving Grace: his first to feature a new band of distinguished musicians. Accompanied by vocalist Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown, these ten songs explore the evolution of roots music both vintage and modern, from deep cuts by Memphis Minnie and Blind Willie Johnson, to treasured gems by Bob Mosley (Moby Grape), Martha Scanlan, Mimi Parker and Alan Sparhawk’s Low, Sarah Siskind and The Low Anthem, an African-American spiritual and more. “[Robert Plant and Suzi Dian] harmonize while the band reconfigures some of Plant’s favorite musical elements: the blues, Celtic picking, Arabic modes,” the New York Times said in naming Saving Grace one of Fall’s Most Anticipated Albums.

While Plant had already received great acclaim for his GRAMMY Award-winning forays into American roots music with singer and fiddler Alison Krauss—and alongside Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller, in his 2010 GRAMMY-nominated Band of Joy—Saving Grace began at his home on the Welsh borderlands. First united in 2019, Plant and the band members were drawn together by a shared love of roots music—of blues, folk, gospel, country and those tantalizing sounds that lay in between. They recorded informally in a barn setup and sometimes outdoors; across the album, the band incorporates elements of hypnotic, droning grooves, Malian desert blues, and psychedelic folk, with sounds that can seem mysterious, melancholic, and foreboding.

From serving as an unheralded opening act on a handful of dates for Fairport Convention, to touring extensively across the UK and Europe in recent months and years, Robert Plant and Saving Grace will soon perform for the first time in the US this fall. Their tour stops in fifteen North American cities, including shows at NYC’s Brooklyn Paramount, Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre, Chicago’s The Vic, Los Angeles’ United Theater, and others, with support from Rosie Flores. Robert Plant and Saving Grace will also return to the US in 2026, with the recent announcement of a headline performance at Big Ears Festival, following a ten-date UK tour just added for December. The full schedule is below, and tickets are available at robertplant.com/#tour

Cameron Whitcomb Releases Raw and Riveting Debut Album ‘The Hard Way’

0

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Cameron Whitcomb has released his eagerly awaited debut album, The Hard Way, available now via Atlantic Records HERE. Created with producer Jack Riley (Knox, Grace VanderWaal), as well as Cal Shapiro (Alex Warren, Timeflies) and Nolan Sipe (Benson Boone, Alex Warren), The Hard Way features emotionally raw singles including the breakout fan favorite “Quitter,” the brutally self-aware “Hundred Mile High,” the defiant “Options,” the hopeful “Fragile,” and the gut-punching title track.

Also out today, the chart-climbing single “Medusa” is now joined with a live performance video, streaming HERE. A deeply personal look at his turbulent journey – from early struggles with addiction to recovery and growth – The Hard Way is further anchored by the powerful new track “Call For You,” written as a tribute to his mom.

‘Call For You’ is a song for someone that you really care about, really love,” shares Whitcomb. “I think we all have that person that no matter what goes wrong, you can just call and rely on. I feel like a lot of people come and go but there’s always that one person you come back to.

With over 6M monthly listeners on Spotify, 3M+ followers across social platforms, and 500M+ global streams to date, Whitcomb is riding high in what’s proven to be a landmark 2025 for the Nanaimo, BC-based artist. This week, he was named the 2025 recipient of CMA’s Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award, recognizing outstanding achievements by a Country Music artist who is originally based internationally. He was also among the big winners at the 2025 CCMA Awards, taking home the “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and “Fans’ Choice” awards amidst six total nominations. He also made his Canadian TV debut at the CCMA Awards with an energetic live performance of “Quitter,” streaming HERE.

Whitcomb will mark the arrival of The Hard Way with his biggest North American headline run to date. The I’ve Got Options Tour kicks off tonight with a sold-out show at Portland’s Wonder Ballroom and runs through mid-November, including a two-night sold-out stand at L.A.’s iconic Troubadour (Oct 4-5). Just yesterday, he was announced as part of the 2026 Stagecoach Festival lineup, set for April 26. For updates, details, and ticket information, please visit thecamwhitcomb.com.

In a world that often prizes surface-level honesty, Cameron Whitcomb stands out as an artist with the courage to confront uncomfortable truths. After leaving home at age 17 to work on a pipeline, the British Columbia native discovered his passion for singing and devoted himself to music. He broke through with his 2024 debut EP, Quitter – a fearless collection of country/folk songs inspired by his journey through addiction and recovery.

Since then, the 22-year-old singer-songwriter has skyrocketed: headlining tours across North America and Europe, landing on 2025 Artist to Watch lists from Spotify and Amazon Music, and now releasing his full-length debut, The Hard Way.

Jade LeMac Shares Vulnerable New Single “Sleeping with the Lights On” Ahead of EP ‘It’s Always At Night’

0

Following the release of her infectious summer single, “Running Home,” Vancouver singer/songwriter Jade LeMac has released her heartfelt track, “Sleeping with the Lights On” – LISTEN HERE. This marks the third track from Jade’s anticipated EP It’s Always At Night, due November 7 via Warner Music Canada / East West Records. Pre-order here.

For the last month, Jade has been touring as the opener for powerhouse singer Maren Morris on her Dreamsicle North American tour that wraps up tonight in Atlanta. Jade also announced that she will head out on her own Canadian headline tour this winter with dates in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and more – see below for full tour dates. Tickets are on sale here

A tender and vulnerable track, “Sleeping with the Lights On” shows her really open up; “How the hell are you so fine, while I’m out here losing my mind?” Jade belts as she deals with heartbreak. Jade has been giving fans a sneak peek of the song, performing it live on tour, and most recently featuring it in her Audiotree live session, which also includes “Constellations,” “Running Home,” and an interview.

Speaking about the new single, Jade says, “‘Sleeping with the Lights On’ is another one of my favorites. This one is definitely a vulnerable song, a heartbreak song. This also was the first song where I really discovered my sound when it comes to writing on guitar.”

Jade‘s single “Running Home” continues to make waves in North America with a recent SiriusXM Hits-1’s Hitbound add, as well as adds in major markets across the U.S, and was the #9 most added track on Pop Radio. In Canada the single has been added to multiple major radio stations across the country, debuting on the Hot AC charts this week and continuing to grow.

Jade’s impassioned storytelling has set her apart since her career beginnings, and It’s Always At Night adds new chapters. This EP was built on the artist’s guitar, whose poetic riffs, with the help of longtime production partner JVP (Mother Mother, Simple Plan), were amplified to bring a bigger pop sound to the new music. One of the EP’s most endearing treasures is the vocal choir woven throughout, made up of Jade’s friends and family. Their presence is a reflection of the artist’s humanity, as she proudly takes her loved ones along her career’s joyride. Jade dives into themes of being in love and finding yourself through it all, opening herself to listeners and empowering herself through her vulnerability. Explaining, Jade says,  “It’s Always At Night is a story about a person who’s in love with love. There are songs for so many emotions – heartbreak, desire, love, and lust. Each song is its own story about the different ways I’ve felt while being in love with someone.”

Jade, is a rapidly rising star who has received praise from the likes of LA Weekly, OnesToWatch, Rolling Stone, LadyGunn, and Wonderland Magazine to name a few and has received a GLAAD Award nomination for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist. She has built a devout and evergrowing fanbase by being true to herself as a Queer Vietnamese Canadian, and re-shaping the definition of pop stardom. Founded in 1950 by Polish immigrant brothers Leonard and Phil Chess, Chess Records emerged from the south side of Chicago and quickly crossed lines of color and culture to create rhythm and blues music that influenced listeners the world over. Chess’ unmatched roster – and its canny founders – enhanced and transformed the blues from folk music to popular sound.

The story of Chess Records is the story of American popular music in the second half of the twentieth century. Best-known for capturing the sound of acoustic blues, originating from the Mississippi Delta and filtered through Chicago’s South Side, going electric and for releasing some of the earliest rock and roll singles, Chess also has a deep catalog of jazz, R&B and soul recordings. The legacy of Chess Records endures more than 75 years later.

The influence of Chess Records is felt across generations of popular music—from the British Invasion and acts like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton citing Chess artists as influences to today’s marquee acts that include Beyoncé, Jack White, Questlove, and Bruce Springsteen.

In celebrating its 75th anniversary, Chess Records is not only recognizing its own rich musical heritage but inviting fans and new audiences to discover their storied roster and the music revolution that was born over seven decades ago in Chicago.

Mother Love Bone’s sound, a unique blend of larger-than-life rock ‘n’ roll and intense nascent alternative, was first introduced on the ShineEP on March 6, 1989. This release showcased the interplay between drummer Greg Gilmore, lead guitarist Bruce Fairweather, the late legendary frontman Andrew Wood, and the tandem of guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament, who would later co-found Pearl Jam. The band’s influence on the grunge and alternative rock scenes is undeniable, and their music continues to inspire new generations of musicians and fans.

The EP also effectively set the stage for the band to deliver a classic in the form of Apple. The latter arrived on August 14, 1990, in the wake of Wood’s untimely passing, which had occurred less than five months earlier. Despite this tragic loss, its 13 tracks stood as a testament to both the frontman’s outsized talent and the once-in-a-lifetime chemistry shared by his bandmates. The album yielded favorites such as “Crown Of Thorns” and “This Is Shangrila, among many others. To date, it has generated tens of millions of streams.

Speaking to Apple’s long-lasting impact, Rolling Stone asserted, “Their combination of Northwest grunge and runny-mascara glam sounded like a prediction of where hair metal, just beginning its decline in 1990, could go.” Ultimate Classic Rock applauded how “On Applethe quintet combined funk-metal flash, bluesy Led Zeppelin homages, glam-grunge charisma and hard rock & roll aggression while eschewing hair metal’s sleazy pomp in favor of something more soulful. Classic Rock professed, MLB walked the thin line between cutting-edge rock and evocative echoes from the past.” Plus, Pitchfork hailed it among “The 25 Best Grunge Albums of the ’90s, going on to attest, Apple is nonetheless a foundational text for prophesying how the genre’s grimy guitar sound could be reengineered for arena-rattling mass appeal.

Frank Sinatra Shines with Count Basie and Duke Ellington on New Double-Vinyl ‘The Giants Of Jazz’

0

UMe, in conjunction with Frank Sinatra Enterprises, announce a new exclusive double-vinyl collection from Frank Sinatra, featuring his historic collaborations with Count Basie and Duke Ellington, entitled The Giants Of Jazz, out now.

This special release includes a pair of timeless albums—It Might As Well Be Swing with Count Basie and His Orchestra and Francis A. & Edward K. with Duke Ellington—newly remastered from the archival recordings. The package includes a new gatefold jacket design that incorporates rare photographs as well as the original artwork.

It is now available HERE via the Official Store.

Comprising seminal performances from SinatraBasie, and Ellington, the title The Giants Of Jazz couldn’t be more apropos.

It Might As Well Be Swing initially arrived in August 1964. It saw Sinatra accompanied by Basie in tandem with his orchestra on ten tracks for the second time following 1962’s Sinatra-Basie, and it was Sinatra’s first studio album arranged by Quincy Jones. It housed some of his most celebrated material, ranging from “The Best Is Yet To Come” to the definitive recording of “Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words).” The latter has eclipsed 766 million Spotify streams, which speak to its enduring influence and impact for the last 61 years. During 1964, the LP peaked at #13 on the Billboard 200. Retrospectively, Jazz Music Archives rated it “5-out-of-5 stars” and raved, “Absolutely wonderful album by Frank Sinatra as the title states It Might As Well Be Swing and that precisely is what it is with lashing of it from the arrangements of Quincy Jones and as usual the outstanding interpretations of each tune sung by Frank Sinatra.” Of Jones’ contribution, The Guardian applauded, “He arranged Sinatra’s voice in such a way that it made him sound like an instrument in the band and not just another singer taking the lead.”

Famously, the original cover of It Might As Well Be Swing also bears the phrase “A Meeting Of Giants.

Then, there’s Francis A. & Edward K, first released in January 1968, united Sinatra with Ellington and his big band. Among a bevy of highlights, it features an iconic rendition of “All I Need Is The Girl” and “Indian Summer” that includes a wonderful solo by saxophonist Johnny Hodges. Jazz legends Cootie Williams, Cat Anderson, Paul Gonsalves, Russell Procope, and others are also part of the Ellington orchestra. Long time Sinatra arranger, Billy May, did the arrangements for the album.

Check out the tracklisting for The Giants Of Jazz below.

The release continues a series of sought-after reissues of Sinatra’s most-celebrated music. First up, a special 4-inch Tiny Vinyl Edition of “Jingle Bells/Silent Night” hits shelves well in advance of the holidays on September 12. Order HERE.

Rising Pop Force Alessi Rose Unveils Dazzling New Single “First Original Thought” from ‘Voyeur (Deluxe)’

0

Today, ascending artist Alessi Rose returns with her new single “First Original Thought” and its accompanying music video. Out now via Capitol Records, the sardonic but sublime new track is the first song released from the upcoming deluxe edition of the 22-year-old singer/songwriter’s acclaimed EP Voyeur, out on November 7. Listen to “First Original Thought” HERE, watch the video HERE, and go HERE to pre-save Voyeur (Deluxe) now.

Said Alessi, “Voyeur Deluxe stemmed from me continuing to write on tour after Voyeur was completed and craving some more big, melodramatic pop songs to perform at my shows, whilst also being in the headspace of wanting to write about things in their most raw and uncomfortable honest forms, in real time.

Produced by GRAMMY Award winner Blake Slatkin (Tate McRae, Rosé), “First Original Thought” finds Alessi co-writing alongside Slatkin and Amy Allen (the 2025 recipient of the GRAMMY Award for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical, whose credits include smash hits like Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”). True to Voyeur’s blunt yet vulnerable storytelling, the glittering track hits back at a guy who’s realized too late that he’s thrown away someone much too good for him.

“‘First Original Thought’ is a cheeky yet cutting song about somebody realising they missed you and need to grovel to try and get you back, far far too late after it’s over,” says Alessi.  “It came from a joke I made about the guy having original autonomous thoughts for the first time ever, and now he’s realised that he misses me, and the song kinda ended being a funny hyperbole of that whole situation.

One of three new songs featured on Voyeur (Deluxe), “First Original Thought” takes the form of a disco-leaning alt-pop banger built on strutting beats and pulsating grooves. With equal parts playful attitude and visceral emotion, Alessi kicks off the track with a perfectly tongue-in-cheek takedown of the one who’s done her wrong: “You had a revelation last night/Did Jesus tell you I’m the love of your life?” Powered by an unstoppable energy (thanks in part to the song’s lush abundance of live guitar, bass, keys, and drums), “First Original Thought” ultimately orbits around an electrifying vocal performance from Alessi, whose voice reaches the stratosphere as she delivers a killer punchline at the chorus (“God, it must be hard/Having your first original thought/But you’ll always be you, and I’ll be a star”).

Directed by Ben Cole (Kylie Minogue, Rosalía) and filmed inside an old asylum chapel, the fantastically choreographed video for “First Original Thought” finds Alessi leading an exercise class for a group of guys from all walks of life. As the song rolls on and the room gets increasingly sweaty, Alessi once again reveals her effortless star power and heartfelt passion for pushing all boundaries.

Released in July, Voyeur quickly earned major praise from the likes of NPR’s All Songs Considered (who included it on their roundup of the best new albums out that week,) PEOPLEWonderland and DIY (who declared that “Alessi Rose has firmly secured her status as pop’s hottest new It-girl”). Meanwhile, Dork Magazine stated that “Voyeur is a document of a young woman watching herself mess up in real time and making brilliant pop out of the wreckage. Brave, spiky and self-assured, it marks Alessi Rose not just as one to watch, but one who’s already arrived.” Earlier this summer she graced the cover of NME, accompanying her feature story with a specially curated playlist titled “Songs To Imagine Me Whispering In Your Ear Whilst Draped In Lace.”

Made with in-demand producers  like Sam De Jong (Gracie Abrams, Lennon Stella), John Hill (Cage the Elephant, Carly Rae Jepsen), Sammy Witte (SZA, Halsey), and Couros (Dora Jar, Saya Gray), Voyeur includes standouts like “Same Mouth,” (her Capitol Records debut), “Everything Anything,” (a real-life tale of a problematic ex moving onto her street without warning, featured on V Magazine’s New Music Friday picks), “That Could Be Me” (an angsty alt-rock-edged bop), and “Dumb Girl” (a slow-building epic capturing the whirlwind of unrequited love).

Next Thursday in Seattle, Alessi joins the North American leg of Tate McRae’s Miss Possessive Tour. Bookended by her own headlining Voyeur Tour, her run of dates with Tate follows an action-packed summer whose highlights include making her Glastonbury debut, which Billboard called “superstar-cementing” in their “Best Moments of Glastonbury 2025” recap. With two U.K./European headline tours already under her belt (both of which sold out in less than 10 minutes, subsequently upgraded venues, and immediately sold out again), Alessi also recently joined Dua Lipa in arenas and stadiums across the pond on the Radical Optimism tour. Go HERE for more info on Alessi’s upcoming live dates.

Growing up in Derby, England, Alessi first explored her creative side through poetry at age 13. With inspirations including pop visionaries like Lorde and Kate Bush, she soon began writing songs and later taught herself to produce while working as a bartender to save up for college. After building a following online, Alessi made her official debut in the summer of 2023 with the self-written and self-produced “say ur mine,” which amassed over 40K views in less than a week. From there, she released “hate this part” and a string of singles leading up to her 2024 EP, rumination as ritual. In early 2025, Alessi shared her second EP, for your validation, swiftly earning a global following with highlights like “IKYK” and “oh my.” Named one of the “15 Rising U.K. and Ireland Acts to Watch in 2025” by Billboard, she also garnered critical praise from tastemakers like Line of Best Fit, and The Face  and in this cover feature, Dork Magazine crowned her “the voice of a new confessional pop generation.”
