The New Cut Explore Parasocial Relationships On Spidery New Single “And As Always”

0

Bristol-based post-punk quartet The New Cut has released new single “And As Always” via Modern Sky off the back of support slots with SPRINTS, Buzzcocks and The Bug Club. The four-piece blend the energy of The Fall, Wire and The Monochrome Set with modern themes. This is evidenced on spidery new single “And As Always” which takes this retro sonic inspiration as a starting point to explore parasocial relationships with online personalities. Specifically, the new single depicts lead vocalist Henry Gerrard’s struggle with socialising in his formative years and his subsequent leaning towards internet personalities as a teenager.

Certain educational channels would end up being a turning point for Henry, giving him new perspectives and, more importantly, teaching him to worry less about the social pressure whilst growing up. This feeling is reflected in the band’s emergence onto the UK music scene and a reminder from formative years of trying too hard to fit in, to stay focussed on the important aspects in their work: the music and creativity, not the image and social responsibility. Alongside high-profile support slots the band has run the gamut of tastemaker festivals in The Great Escape, Dot To Dot and Left Of The Dial, earning fans along the way with their direct approach to updating 80s indebted post-punk and New Wave.

On the new single, Henry Gerrard says, “We feel as if we are taking new steps with the band every year and an important aspect of any growth or success we see is to stay grounded. The music industry is full of creative and generous people, but it still feels sometimes as if I’m still trying to fit in. ‘And As Always’ recounts my formative years and is a reminder that, changing for the sake of blending in didn’t work before, and it won’t work now. It’s a track to focus myself on my principles, being creative for things that are important to me and letting my ‘image’ or social life work itself out.”

Westbound Train Release Long-Awaited Album ‘Sing the Ghost Away’

Acclaimed ska and soul collective Westbound Train has released their long-awaited new album ‘Sing the Ghost Away’ via Org Music. The record marks a bold and deeply resonant evolution for the band, an inspired return that reaffirms their place as torchbearers of modern ska, rocksteady and classic soul. Produced by Obi Fernandez and Eric Novod, and mixed and mastered by Tim Panella, ‘Sing the Ghost Away’ was recorded at The Relic Room in New York City. Pairing warm analog textures with inventive arrangements and nuanced sonic detail, the album delivers a confident, emotionally charged collection that feels both timeless and refreshingly new.

Standout tracks like “L.M.A.,” “Keeper From the Start” and “Slippery Slope” showcase Westbound Train’s sharpened songwriting and expanded sonic range, while a newly recorded version of “We All Need Rescue” breathes new life into a fan-favorite deep cut. Contributions from Anthony Abbinanti on percussion, horn players Rich Graiko and Carlos Menezes Jr. further enrich the band’s signature sound. Formed in 2001 at Berklee College of Music, Westbound Train built an international following with their infectious blend of ska, rocksteady and soul. Influenced by icons like The Skatalites, Hepcat, Otis Redding and The Slackers, the band became a staple of the U.S. ska circuit, sharing stages on The Vans Warped Tour, Summer of Ska, Rude Cat Festival and more.

Today, the lineup features Obi Fernandez, Rich Graiko on trumpet, Carlos Menezes Jr. on saxophone, Gideon Blumenthal on keyboards, Alex Brumel on guitar, Alex Stern on guitar, Thad Merritt on bass and Eric Novod on drums. Beyond the stage, they’re fathers, sons, teachers and community leaders, united by a shared passion for carrying forward a distinctly soulful vision of ska and reggae. With ‘Sing the Ghost Away’, Westbound Train prove once again why they remain a cornerstone of the modern ska and soul revival.

Of Mice & Men Release Final Single “Flowers” From Ninth Album ‘Another Miracle’

0

Southern California band Of Mice & Men has released “Flowers”, the final single from their new album ‘Another Miracle’ via Century Media Records. The song, a heavy yet hopeful reflection on pain, healing and inner growth, channels emotional weight into cathartic energy. It speaks to anyone who needs to feel seen and reminded to nurture what still blooms. The video for “Flowers” marks another collaboration with director Mike Matsui and the band shares, “We’re excited to share the video for our song ‘Flowers,’ which combines live and behind-the-scenes footage from recent festival appearances. It highlights the people who make all of this possible, our friends, our families, and our fans, and our gratitude for still being able to create and perform for them. That’s how we ‘feed the flowers,’ as the song says.”

‘Another Miracle’ finds Of Mice & Men at their most personal and most expansive. The album was crafted entirely in-house, written, produced and engineered by the band themselves. “The process of self-recording and self-producing this album as well the last two has seen us really trying to one up what we’ve done in the past, and it’s on us to do that,” drummer Valentino Arteaga explains. “On this album in particular, we wanted to push the boundaries of what that sounds like for our band.” From the electronic accents of “Troubled Water” to the unfiltered aggression of “Hourglass”, ‘Another Miracle’ sees Of Mice & Men levelling up without retreading the sonic formulas that have been successful in the past.

The band’s ninth album balances bone-crushing breakdowns with arena-ready rock anthems. Vocalist and bassist Aaron Pauley notes, “A lot of the time, we feel that the uniqueness of our circumstance prevents us from connecting with others: ‘How could anyone possibly know what it’s like to go through what I’m going through?’ That being said, everyone, and I mean everyone, knows what it’s like to wish for a miracle during a time when everything seems hopeless. It seems to be one of those core human experiences that ties us all together. That’s exactly what Another Miracle is about and we hope you enjoy it.” The band hit the UK in December for four headline shows.

Music Declares Emergency has launched Hope Over Fear, a new campaign that will see the music and climate charity build on their work with their No Music On A Dead Planet movement to establish regional climate hubs across the UK. Artists including IDLES, Declan McKenna, Bimini, Enter Shikari, Yard Act, Sleaford Mods, Beth Orton, The Pogues, John Grant, Goat Girl, Floating Points, Jasmine 4.t, Editors and The Anchoress have joined with the charity to promote the launch by wearing one of three campaign t-shirts and sharing messages of hope with their fans throughout November. Each hub will bring fans, artists and organisers together to create, collaborate and take action, from gigs and workshops to local organising.

The project sees the charity partner with Music Venue Trust, with hubs working alongside MVT’s network of grassroots venues, creating spaces to gather and take part in local community regeneration. The campaign is spearheaded by three new designs from Anthony Burrill, the designer of the now iconic No Music On A Dead Planet artwork that has been seen by over 500 million music fans worldwide. Profits from the sale of these t-shirts will directly fund the creation and maintenance of the groups across the UK and Ireland. Each tee is printed on organic cotton and made to order by charity merch provider Teemill.

Lewis Jamieson, CEO of Music Declares Emergency said, “Five years since our launch of NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET, a slogan that has come to encapsulate the commitment of artists, music businesses and fans to making a positive contribution to acting on the climate emergency, we felt it was time to bring a new message. By bringing our message into towns and cities across the UK through the amazing grassroots venues that are the starting point for so many musical journeys and the creative hubs that underpin UK music, we will strengthen the bonds between music fans, music promoters, and artists who are committed to making a positive difference in their communities.” Mark Davyd, CEO of The Music Venue Trust added, “Grassroots Music Venues are a fundamental part of their communities and play a key role in bringing people together through music. By partnering with Music Declares Emergency for HOPE OVER FEAR, we aim for those venues to be at the centre of an initiative that offers spaces for innovation, discussion and collaboration and celebrates the cultural power of music to bring positive change for the benefit of everyone.”

PARAXENIA Explores Loss And Memory On Poetic New Single “Echoes Remain”

0

Progressive metal project PARAXENIA has released brand new single “Echoes Remain”. The track is a poetic and emotionally intense journey through loss, memory and the lingering pain left by past joys. Fusing dark, atmospheric textures with the project’s signature melancholic sound, “Echoes Remain” explores how moments of love and happiness can cast long shadows, echoing through time long after people and feelings have faded.

“This song is about how pain is often nothing more than the echoes of the beautiful moments we remember,” explains PARAXENIA’s mastermind. “I dedicate this song to some very dear people who have recently passed away. The intense emotions I felt during those moments directly inspired the lyrics.” Musically, “Echoes Remain” blends melancholic metal, dark atmospheres and orchestral layers, building a soundscape that is both powerful and introspective.

The single marks a significant new chapter for PARAXENIA, showcasing their evolution in both emotional depth and artistic vision. The track stands as a testament to how grief and beauty intertwine, transforming personal loss into universal resonance.

As December Falls Announce Intimate UK Headline Tour Supporting Independent Venues

0

Nottingham pop-punks As December Falls have announced another UK headline tour for February and March 2026. The tour comes hot off the heels of their recent Everything’s On Fire, But We’re On Tour album release tour last month. Speaking of the tour, the band shares, “we just came off the wildest tour of our careers, selling out some of our biggest venues to date, like London’s Electric Ballroom and Nottingham’s Rock City. We grew up as a DIY punk band and nothing beats being one foot away from the crowd, in a smaller room. Independent venues are closing around the country and we never want to forget our roots, so this tour is as much about supporting small venues, as it is remembering where we came from! We can’t wait to party with you!”

The band stormed the UK’s Official Albums Chart at number 8 with new album ‘Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine’, a bold, brutally honest record that captured the beautiful chaos of chasing a dream while everything else is falling apart. Still balancing day jobs and a relentless tour schedule, the band channelled their exhaustion, anxiety, gratitude and grit into 14 tracks that hit harder than ever, both sonically and emotionally. From the smoldering intensity of the title track, which sums up the pressure and privilege of their in-between place in the industry, to the visceral vulnerability of songs like “Grim Reaper” and “Angry Cry”, this album doesn’t shy away from the mess.

Whether drawing inspiration from late-night Twitch gaming sessions on “Ready Set Go”, heartbreak and red flags on “Bathroom Floor”, or even chaotic best-friend revenge arcs on “For The Plot”, As December Falls continue to write with a raw, unfiltered honesty that resonates with anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed, underestimated, or just not quite okay. As December Falls aren’t here to play it safe. They’re here to burn it all down and build something real in the ashes.

Will Sass Teams Up With Grammy Nominated Alexis Roberts On Moody Dance Single “Runaway”

0

After scoring a Billboard Dance Radio number one and building serious momentum across the US dance scene, Will Sass returns with new single “Runaway”, a collaboration with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Alexis Roberts. A fusion of moody pop vocals and energising bassline euphoria, the track captures the electric tension between freedom and emotion that defines Will’s evolving sound. Built on shimmering synths, warm textures and an unmistakable hook, “Runaway” is both cinematic and dancefloor ready, a track that encapsulates Will’s unique ability to merge the emotional with the electronic.

The New York-born producer and DJ has quickly established himself as one of dance music’s promising new names. His debut EP surpassed 2 million streams, his collaboration “Into The Blue” with Kamille reached number one on Billboard Dance Radio and his follow-up “What If It Takes You Away” with Malou became a fan favourite across sets at Brooklyn Mirage, Elsewhere and LIV Miami. With upcoming collaborations alongside Aluna George, Timbaland and Piri & Tommy, “Runaway” marks another powerful milestone in his journey toward global recognition.

Alexis Roberts, known for her Grammy-nominated work with Chris Lake and her signature blend of soulful pop and club-ready energy, delivers a performance that feels effortless. “We wanted this song to capture all the vibes, all the feels like you’re hanging out of your car roof with your hands in the air,” Roberts says. A meticulous producer with a sound that nods to Kaytranada, Kevin Parker and Mark Ronson, Will Sass continues to craft records that move beyond genre with songs that feel as good in a club as they do in headphones.

PABST And Snake Eyes Unite For Biting Male Hubris Commentary “Big Big Heart”

0

German trio PABST has returned with new track “Big Big Heart”, a collaboration with Brighton grit-pop duo snake eyes and the final single from their album ‘This is normal now’, released November 28, 2025 via Alcopop! Records and Ketchup Tracks. Following their collaboration on snake eyes track “Hug Me” earlier in 2025, the two bands reignite their friendship with this biting commentary on male hubris and manipulative behavior. The song fits seamlessly into PABST’s genre-bending carousel, revealing yet another facet to the band.

Reminiscent of the substance-fueled, arrogant stomp of Viagra Boys, British-tinged rave-rock flashes through the track’s robotic soundscape, as does its younger cousin, dance-punk, capturing the kinetic essence of both bands’ vibrant local music scenes. “Is rock’n’roll dead? Not as long as Pabst and Snake Eyes carry on!” the band declares. Snake eyes vocalist Jim Heffy adds his own enthusiasm: “we love pabst and we love this tune. earlier this year we entertained the idea of doing a ‘response’ to ‘hug me’ where we jump on a pabst track. to finish our vocals in time for the deadline i had to set up a mini studio in a hotel room somewhere in america—baltimore i think? it probably annoyed the shit out of the other guests but totally worth it. the rock can’t be stopped.”

One of Germany’s most exciting rock exports, PABST has over 200 shows under their belt to date. The Berlin trio boasts a Top 20-charting album in Germany, support from Daniel P Carter at BBC Radio 1, and tours across Europe with Billy Talent, The Beatsteaks, Bob Mould, snake eyes, and Beach Riot. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Magnus Wichmann at lala Studios in Leipzig, ‘This is normal now’ is unmistakably PABST at their most sharpened.

Black Rose Burning Unveils Two Dark Teasers From Sci-Fi Concept Album ‘The Fear Machine’

0

NYC-based post-punk duo Black Rose Burning has shared two new teasers for the tracks “When The Master Calls” and “Roses In The Dark” from their forthcoming album ‘The Fear Machine’. The fourth album from George Grant and Luis Infantas sees the band return to their roots with a darker, more synth-driven sound reminiscent of their debut ‘The Year of the Scorpion’. Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Grant at PVRCo in Putnam Valley, New York, the record arrives as a concept album inspired by a sci-fi idea Grant has harbored since childhood.

The album centers on a world kept in a constant state of fear to power a machine that feeds on human anxiety, grief and agitation. This darker thematic content offers direct commentary on the current state of the world. “The songs on this record are a bit darker and thematically a bit more centered on what the world is going through at the moment, especially the United States,” says Grant. “Even though our ongoing motto is Love Won, Love Lost and Outer Space, we felt it was important to take a stand musically for our community and people who are being affected in it.” The duo balances pointed social observation with their signature melodic sensibility and hooks.

Musically, ‘The Fear Machine’ marks a shift from the more guitar-forward sound of their latest record ‘Ad Astra’. The album’s powerful, melodic soundscape relies on subtle interplay between intricate guitar work and synth programming. “We tried to get back to the basics of the sound we make as Black Rose Burning,” Grant explains. “The Fear Machine comes back to balancing the interplay between keys and guitars, both working in tandem with quite a bit more subtlety concerning the guitars.” The unique album artwork draws inspiration from ancient Mayan and Aztec cultures, a shared interest between Grant and Peruvian-born drummer Infantas that connects to their ongoing fascination with space travel and cosmic themes.
