Cameron Whitcomb Announces His Biggest US Headline Run Yet With the Kingdom of Fear Tour

0

Cameron Whitcomb doesn’t stop. The 22-year-old Nanaimo, BC singer-songwriter has announced The Kingdom of Fear Tour, his largest US headline run to date, kicking off September 24 at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and closing October 31 at Houston’s House of Blues. Presales begin May 12, with general on-sale starting May 15 at 10am local time. A dollar from every ticket sold goes to Project Healthy Minds, supporting access to mental health services across America.

The tour takes its name from Whitcomb’s explosive new single “Kingdom of Fear,” the highest-charting song of his career to date in the US, Australia, the UK, and Canada, and his second consecutive instant debut on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. Billboard called it “an emotionally charged folk-rock song fronted by Whitcomb’s raw, gritty vocals and a fervent guitar.” Next week, he performs the track live on the Season 24 Finale of American Idol alongside finalist Brooks Rosser, airing Monday, May 11 at 8pm ET on ABC and Disney+.

“Kingdom of Fear” headlines his new EP ‘Deep Water,’ out now via Atlantic Outpost. The 5-song project also includes the dynamic title track, captured in a live performance video filmed at his sold-out Citizens House of Blues Boston show in front of 2,700 fans, his biggest solo headline show to date. “You and Me,” the tender third track, debuted immediately on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 upon its March arrival. Billboard praised it as “an emotional, heartfelt folk-rock song characterized by his soft, weathered vocals and a stomp-clap rhythm.”

The Kingdom of Fear Tour runs through venues including Atlanta’s Tabernacle, Tulsa’s Cain’s Ballroom, Seattle’s Paramount Theatre, Los Angeles’s The Wiltern, and Austin’s Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater. Support across various dates comes from Noah Rinker, NEP, and Liam St. John.

All of this follows a landmark 2025 and an already packed 2026. Whitcomb is currently on a fully sold-out Australia and New Zealand headline tour, with additional shows added in some markets due to demand. His Fragile Egos Tour resumes June 2 in Detroit, continuing through sold-out stops across North America. He’s also supporting HARDY on THE COUNTRY! COUNTRY! TOUR! through the summer, with festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Dauphin’s Countryfest, Country Thunder Saskatchewan, Big Valley Jamboree, and more.

Earlier this year, Whitcomb took home 2 JUNO Awards, “Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year” and “Country Album of the Year” for his debut album ‘The Hard Way,’ which debuted at number 1 on Canada’s Country Albums chart, earned Gold certification, and surpassed 500 million streams nationally. His JUNO performance of “Options” went viral after he capped it with a backflip on the catwalk. He also holds the 2025 CMA Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award and back-to-back CCMA wins for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Fans’ Choice. With over 7.5 million monthly Spotify listeners and 835 million global streams, the trajectory is unmistakable.

Kathy Griffin Takes Her No-Holds-Barred Comedy to Palm Springs for Her First-Ever Residency

0

Kathy Griffin is getting her first-ever residency, and she’s bringing it to downtown Palm Springs. “Can You Handle This Heat? The Kathy Griffin Palm Springs Residency” lands at the Plaza Theatre on January 31, February 26, and March 26, 2027, with tickets on sale now via Ticketmaster. The announcement follows 2 sold-out shows Griffin played at the venue in March, which clearly made the case for something more permanent.

Each of the 3 nights promises all-new material, true to Griffin’s reputation for pull-no-punches comedy that doesn’t soften for anyone or anything. Plaza Theatre SVP and General Manager John Bolton frames it directly: “Kathy Griffin is one of the most fearless comedians alive, and we couldn’t be prouder to give her first-ever residency a home right here in Palm Springs. Can You Handle This Heat is the kind of bold, unexpected programming that defines what The Plaza Theatre is all about.”

The 700-capacity Plaza Theatre reopened in December 2025 after a decade-long closure and has quickly built a reputation as one of Southern California’s premier intimate entertainment destinations, with recent shows from Colin Hay, Dusty Slay, Aloe Blacc, Suzanne Vega, Joss Stone, and others. Plaza Theatre members receive early access to the best seats.

Fitz and The Tantrums, D Smoke, and Anthony Anderson Join LACHSApalooza at the Greek Theatre

0

LACHSApalooza, the music festival celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, keeps growing. Fitz and The Tantrums and hometown rapper D Smoke have joined the May 30 lineup at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, with comedian, actor, writer, and director Anthony Anderson serving as master of ceremonies. All 3 are former LACHSA students, joining previously announced alumni Ozomatli, Gerald Clayton, Jon B., Gretchen Parlato, and entrepreneur April Showers.

The charitable festival is raising $2.5 million to support LACHSA’s arts education programs, which serve 550 student artists each year. With only 50% of the school’s arts funding covered by the state, the LACHSA Foundation fills a critical gap, and LACHSApalooza is the centerpiece of that effort. The evening will also honor 3 educators who shaped the school’s legacy: the late Pat Bass, known as Ms. B, who led the gospel choir and vocal jazz ensemble to 5 first-place finishes at the Monterey Jazz Festival High School competition and influenced artists including Alex Isley, Gretchen Parlato, and opera star Angel Blue; Lois Hunter, who served as theatre department chair for 33 years; and Jerry Freedman, L.A. County’s Teacher of the Year and a “Most Inspirational Teacher” honoree from the Board of Supervisors. Additional artists are still to be announced. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster.

The Grand Ole Opry Turns 100 With a Summer of Tributes, Throwbacks, and Free Concerts

0

The Grand Ole Opry is 100 years old this year, and Nashville’s most iconic stage is marking the milestone with a full summer of programming under the banner “Summer Of The Century.” The celebration runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend and covers tribute shows, throwback nights, backstage tours, and a free weekly outdoor concert series on the Opry Plaza stage every Friday and Saturday before that evening’s show.

The summer opens with “Opry Celebrates CMA Fest” on June 2, 3, 5, and 6, featuring Carrie Underwood, Avery Anna, Jordan Davis, Maddox Batson, Deana Carter, and more. On June 10, “Opry 100 Honors: Don Williams” brings Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, Rodney Crowell, and others together to pay tribute to country music’s Gentle Giant and the songs that defined decades of country radio. June 28 brings “Opry Celebrates ’90s Country,” a night dedicated to big hair, high-waisted jeans, and the decade’s defining songs, with artists to be announced. Backstage tours run throughout the summer with 4 options to explore the historic Opry House. Tickets for all 2026 Opry shows through December are on sale now.

Om Records Hits 30 Years With a Landmark Compilation and Celebrations in San Francisco and Los Angeles

30 years. Over 800 releases. 9/11, the dot com crash, Napster, the recession, a global pandemic, and the full arc of the digital music era. Om Records has weathered all of it, and today the San Francisco-based label marks the milestone with ‘Om Records – 30 Years,’ a compilation out now that draws a line from where the label started to where it stands today. Listen here.

Co-founder Chris Smith traces the label’s origin directly to the energy of mid-90s San Francisco. “The music scene in the city was incredible when we started the label,” he says. “There were solid club nights seven nights a week for house music, downtempo, acid jazz, and a vibrant hip-hop scene too that we commingled with. We were obviously super into house music, but we wanted to do something that really embodied all of these eclectic sounds.” That spirit of genre fluidity has defined Om’s entire catalog, and the 18-track compilation reflects it fully, featuring Kaskade, Groove Armada, Samantha James, Colette, Mark Farina, Rithma, King Kooba, 40 Thieves, Homero Espinosa, and more.

The celebrations extend beyond the record. Tomorrow, May 9, a free day party takes place at Embarcadero Plaza in San Francisco, produced by Another Planet Entertainment as part of their San Francisco Free Concerts series in conjunction with the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, with Mark Farina, Colette b2b Heather, Shiny Objects, and J Boogie performing. The night continues at The Great Northern with Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Colette b2b Heather, Shiny Objects, J Boogie, Rithma, King Kooba, 40 Thieves, and Homero Espinosa. Limited tickets remain.

On May 16, the celebration moves to Jungle Hollywood in Los Angeles for a 4pm to 9pm event presented by Coco & Friends and WCS Events in partnership with KCRW, featuring Mark Farina, Colette, DJ Heather, Rithma, Raul Campos, and DJ Dazy. Limited tickets remain there as well.

Adekunle Gold Expands His Fuji Era With ‘FUJI XTRA’ and a First-Ever Collaboration With Olamide

0

Adekunle Gold has been building something significant with his FUJI project, and ‘FUJI XTRA,’ out now on all streaming platforms, deepens that world with 5 new tracks and a collaboration that’s been years in the making. More than a deluxe edition, it’s a genuine extension of a creative chapter still very much in motion. Listen here.

The centerpiece is “Formation,” the first-ever collaboration between Adekunle Gold and Olamide, 2 artists whose paths have been intertwined since Olamide signed Gold to YBNL Nation after hearing his viral 2016 debut single “Sade.” That origin story gives the track real weight. Gold describes it plainly: “This song means a lot to me because it’s the first time Olamide and I have collaborated. We always said the moment had to be right. Formation felt like that moment. It represents the future of Fuji music.”

The remaining 4 tracks each bring their own dimension to the project. “Shake Shake” features TML Vibez, injecting new-generation energy into the mix. “Blue Fire” reunites Gold with Simi, one of his most trusted creative partnerships, adding melodic warmth and familiar synergy. Solo standouts “Life of the Faaji” and “I Got Wiser On My Own” round out the set, each reinforcing the project’s cultural grounding and forward momentum.

With FUJI, Gold reconnected with the percussive intensity, rich storytelling, and dynamic structure of Fuji music, weaving in Afrobeats and global influences without diluting its cultural identity. Fuji, as Gold defines it, is also an acronym: Finding Uncharted Journeys Inside. “I grew up on fuji,” he says. “It’s at every party, every event. It’s ingrained in me.” OKAYAFRICA called the original album “a sleek effort that reimagines the groovy, Yoruba folk-heavy rhythms of fuji music.” Rolling Stone praised its “bright energy and joyous urgency.”

Gold’s catalog runs deep: ‘Gold’ debuted at number 7 on the Billboard World Albums Chart in 2016, ‘About 30’ earned a Grammy nomination for Best World Album, and subsequent releases have produced global hits and consistent critical recognition. ‘FUJI XTRA’ arrives alongside the announcement of an Orchestra Series bringing the FUJI sound to North America through a live symphonic experience. Tickets are available now.

‘FUJI XTRA’ Tracklist:

  1. Formation (featuring Olamide)
  2. Shake Shake (with TML Vibez)
  3. Blue Fire (featuring Simi)
  4. Life of the Faaji
  5. I Got Wiser On My Own

Chicago’s Sparklmami Turns a Bolero Into a Letter to Her Mother on the Stunning New Single “quisiera”

0

Sparklmami’s new single “quisiera” is one of the most emotionally precise things she’s released yet. Out now via Verve Records/slowplay, the track is her own version of a traditional bolero, steeped in the genre’s inherent romance and inextricable rhythm, but redirected entirely. Rather than a lover, the song is addressed to her mother, carrying a deep yearning to bridge the emotional and generational distance between them with mutual understanding. It’s a powerful reframe of a classic form, and it lands exactly as intended.

“quisiera” is the latest preview from ‘in this body,’ Sparklmami’s debut album arriving June 5. The record is a guided meditation on identity, childhood memory, and the familial, cultural, and geographic forces that shape who we become. Sparklmami mines her own psyche and spins surreal imagery from it, each song a portrait of her life filtered through a dream-like soundscape of generational and cultural music that colored her upbringing.

The album was built collaboratively and organically. Executive producers Eddie Burns and William Corduroy anchored the rhythm section alongside Alec Trickett on percussion, Josh Jessen on keys and synths, and Kenneth Leftridge Jr. on saxophone, with the full band improvising and building songs together symbiotically under Sparklmami’s direction. Contributors from a wider musical community include Nico Segal of The Social Experiment, Alex Santilli of Thee Sacred Souls, Raphael Olivier, Adlai Reinhart, and Chris Misch.

The momentum around this album has been building steadily. Last month she opened for Joy Crookes and rusowsky in Chicago, and supported rusowsky for a sold-out hometown show at Thalia Hall. She also rejoined “running” for a re-release featuring a remix from LA producer Mndsgn and a live version recorded with her Chicago band, followed by a California and Texas run with Rio Kosta.

This summer, Sparklmami plays a hometown show at Chicago’s Millennium Park Summer Music Series supporting Patrice Rushen on June 25, then headlining dates in Brooklyn at Baby’s All Right on July 8 and in Los Angeles at Moroccan Lounge as part of Jazz Is Dead on July 22.

‘in this body’ Tracklist:

  1. no te vayas
  2. fajas
  3. vaga
  4. running
  5. quisiera
  6. penso en voce
  7. grounded
  8. it was 5 am
  9. in this body

Upcoming Live Dates:

July 8 – Brooklyn, NY – Baby’s All Right

Eunike Tanzil’s ‘Dreamscapes’ EP Turns Childhood Imagination Into Orchestral Adventure

0

Eunike Tanzil’s new EP ‘Dreamscapes’ arrives June 26 on Deutsche Grammophon’s Yellow Label, and its origins are as vivid as the music itself. Growing up in Indonesia in a city without live orchestras, Tanzil’s first encounter with orchestral sound came through animated films. Those early impressions are the emotional DNA of all 6 tracks here, each one a poetic miniature conjuring imaginative soundworlds built from childhood memory and compositional precision.

The Los Angeles-based Indonesian composer, pianist, and producer recorded ‘Dreamscapes’ again with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and conductor Anna Handler, the same team behind her debut Deutsche Grammophon album ‘The First of Everything,’ released in September 2025 to warm critical reception. Der Spiegel praised her “complex instrumentation” and absence of “intellectual pretension,” noting her works are “sometimes powerful, sometimes fragile, always intensely emotional and driven by a deep love of melody.” HIGHRESAUDIO called her command of emotional packaging a mastery of virtuosity.

Tanzil describes the new EP’s creative core directly: “Dreamscapes brings me back to those early memories of being a child again, with music that captures optimism and hope. I used the orchestra as a canvas to paint my imagination, like soaring through the clouds or a dog chasing butterflies.”

The title track opens like the start of a journey, rich orchestral landscapes establishing the adventure immediately. “SOARING!” follows with scurrying strings, jaunty woodwind, and resounding brass punctuated by Tanzil’s solo piano. The 3/4 rhythm of “Flying Kites” suggests movement and color high in the air. 2 tracks, “Pearl’s Lullaby” and “Pearl’s Fantasia,” are paired: the lullaby rendered in solo piano with a gently rippling melody, then expanded into full orchestral development. The EP closes with “The Ringtone Waltz,” which takes a world-renowned theme by Spanish composer Francisco Tárrega and transforms it into an elegant waltz, a showcase for Tanzil’s ability to reinvent any musical fragment entirely.

Tanzil and Handler have been friends and artistic collaborators since meeting as students at The Juilliard School. Their partnership recently extended to the world premiere of Tanzil’s ‘Prelude to Light,’ conducted by Handler with her own ensemble Enigma Classica at her debut at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie on April 17, 2026. Handler also previously premiered Tanzil’s ‘Ode to the City of Dreams’ at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic.

This year, Tanzil has been named a Classic FM Rising Star and announced as the Colorado Springs Philharmonic’s first composer in residence, a collaboration beginning in September 2026 as the orchestra celebrates its centennial season. The first single “Dreamscapes” is out now, with “Pearl’s Lullaby” following June 5 ahead of the full EP on June 26.

Stella Cole Brings Her Sold-Out Café Carlyle Residency to Record With ‘Live at Café Carlyle’

0

Stella Cole’s sold-out 2025 debut residency at Café Carlyle is now a record. ‘Live at Café Carlyle’ arrives June 26 via Decca Records US, captured across 5 nights at one of New York City’s most storied rooms, and today she shares the first single, a rendition of “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, as an early glimpse into what the full album holds. Listen here.

Recorded by Tyler McDiarmid during Cole’s June 17-21, 2025 residency, produced by GRAMMY winner Matt Pierson, and mixed and mastered by Christopher Allen, the album documents an evening of warmth, wit, and effortless sophistication. Backed by a trio of Michael Kanan on piano, Michael Migliore on bass, and Hank Allen-Barfield on drums, Cole moves through a program rooted in film and classic standards, songs she first encountered through golden-age Hollywood musicals and timeless cinematic ballads, all reimagined through a voice and interpretive sensibility that feels both deeply traditional and entirely her own.

Hailing from Springfield, Illinois, Cole first built her following through luminous online interpretations of American standards, earning praise from artists including James Taylor and quickly finding her way to stages at Birdland, Carnegie Hall, and Madison Square Garden. Her most recent studio release, ‘It’s Magic,’ produced by Pierson and arranged by Alan Broadbent, established her gift for intimate storytelling through vintage love songs. ‘Live at Café Carlyle’ brings that same emotional clarity into a room where audience connection and storytelling are inseparable from the music itself.

The album is available for pre-order now in vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Cole returns to Café Carlyle for a 5-night engagement running May 12 through 16, followed by a full run of US tour dates through the summer.
