Amanda Shires Shares New Single “Lately” From Upcoming ‘Nobody’s Girl’ Album

0

Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Amanda Shires has released her latest track, “Lately,” from her new album, Nobody’s Girl, which drops on Friday, September 26th, via ATO Records. Co-written by Shires and keyboardist Peter Levin, “Lately” flirts with optimism in the face of soul-searching.

“It’s about that in-between place where you’re not okay, but you’re not falling apart either…you’re just wandering, looking for something to hold on to. It’s cinematic but grounded. It’s fighting the blues with more blues and searching the sky for a silver lining,” Shires explains.

“Lately” follows the first two singles to be unveiled from the album, including “A Way It Goes” and “Piece Of Mind,” which was the most-added track at Americana radio upon its release. The song is also garnering strong support at Triple A radio with over 20 stations playing the track in cities including Los Angeles, Nashville, Austin, Boston and more.

Produced by Lawrence Rothman, Nobody’s Girl is a deeply personal body of work. The confessional collection of songs deals in themes of heartbreak and loss, resilience, self-discovery and empowerment. The album was recorded at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville and Los Angeles.

Shires is currently supporting Aly & AJ on an extensive North American tour and will also join the Allman Betts Family Revival Tour later this fall. There are also select headlining shows and in-store appearances announced.

4 Non Blondes Announce Exclusive Los Angeles And San Francisco Club Shows This December

0

Iconic rock band 4 Non Blondes has announced two exclusive club shows in Los Angeles at The Roxy on December 15th and San Francisco at Great American Music Hall on December 17th. These performances mark a triumphant homecoming nearly 3 decades in the making and follow the band’s widely celebrated reunion and a string of successful festival appearances across the country. These limited club shows will bring the band back to the cities where it all began, offering both longtime and a new generation of fans the rare chance to experience 4 Non Blondes in an intimate setting.

Presales start tomorrow (Wed, Sept 24th) ahead fo the general sale on Friday, September 26th.

“4 Non Blondes has been having a great time playing all of these incredible festivals, but honestly, we are excited to get back to the clubs,” frontwoman Linda Perry says. “It’s where every band starts, you figure out what songs people like, learn about your mistakes, how to read the audience, most of all the audience gets a better understanding of who you are in this more intimate setting. My name is Linda Perry and I endorse this quote.”

4 Non Blondes’ debut album, Bigger, Better, Faster, More!, spent more than a year on the Billboard 200 after its release in 1992, going platinum and spawning the anthem, “What’s Up?,” ubiquitous on MTV at the time and still a rallying cry against those forces of quasi-political control in the name of personal freedom. The song entered the prestigious Spotify Billions Club in November 2024, while the video is currently closing in on two billion YouTube views. Despite their meteoric rise, 4 Non Blondes disbanded in 1994, with Perry going from her auspicious start in 4 Non Blondes to a wildly successful career as a songwriter, producer, label owner and, including such platinum records as Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” Gwen Stefani’s “What You Waiting For?” and P!nk’s “Get the Party Started.”

In 2025, Perry reunited with her original band, 4 Non Blondes, which she first formed in the Bay Area in 1989, in the middle of an earthquake with co-founding bassist Christa Hillhouse. The two have now joined with drummer Dawn Richardson and guitarist Roger Rocha, both members of the original touring band, for the first time in more than 33 years.

Perry set up a rehearsal in San Francisco, which she deemed “awkward at first,” but after getting together and playing, it proved promising enough for Linda to write “a bunch of new songs, revisit some old ones, and bam, we have an album. It’s really that simple. They’re all phenomenal players and now they get a chance to show that. I couldn’t ask for a better band to play these songs.”

4 Non Blondes has confirmed that they will release a new studio album in 2026, their first new material since their acclaimed debut, Bigger, Better, Faster, More!

Omnium Gatherum Release ‘Walking Ghost Phase’ Ahead Of New Album ‘May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way’

0

As a last single before their new album May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way drops November 7, Finnish melodic death metal stalwarts Omnium Gatherum are releasing the ’80s-infused “Walking Ghost Phase” that comes with a visualizer video.

Vocalist Jukka Pelkonen says, “‘Walking Ghost Phase’ is about addiction in its many forms. It is about dullness defeating passion yet the addiction creating a fixation. It is a zombie-like state where one is forced to go through the destructive pattern repeatedly. Self-deception is one of the key topics in this song. How addiction lures one into thinking there is nothing wrong and then it consumes you. The title is a real term used when the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster happened in the ’80s. There were workers exposed to heavy radiation who obviously got sick from it. After a while, they seemed to be cured, but that was only a deception. Soon afterwards they just collapsed and passed away. That is why I linked the ‘Walking Ghost Phase’-state to the idea of addiction.”

Guitarist Markus Vanhala further comments, “Here’s the third OG single down the road – called ‘Walking Ghost Phase.’ This one represents the simpler, straight-forward banger side of the upcoming album; it gets your heads banging and fists pumping. I am really looking forward to playing this one live as it has a feel of an upcoming classic live anthem – luckily we have A LOT of shows coming up. Also fear not; there’s also gonna be some a bit more proggy or advanced stuff on the album. May the bridges we burn light the way!”

Nina Simone’s ‘A Single Woman: The Complete Elektra Recordings’ Arrives November 7 Via Omnivore Recordings

0

Omnivore Recordings has announced A Single Woman: The Complete Elektra Recordings, the definitive version of Nina Simone’s final studio album, out November 7th on CD and Double-LP. The release features eleven bonus tracks, four of which are previously unissued.

Nina Simone burst into the world with 1959’s Little Girl Blue, and music would never be the same. For over five decades, Nina entertained, enthralled, and educated listeners across her extraordinary recording and performance career.

After a triumphant concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall in 1992, Nina was approached by Elektra A&R executive Michael Alago (whose previous work at the label included Tracy Chapman and Metallica). When asked if Nina was ready to record again, she replied, “Get me the money… then we can talk!”

Modelled around two of Simone’s favourites, Frank Sinatra’s A Man Alone (The Words And Music Of Rod McKuen) and Billie Holiday’s Lady In Satin—with the common element that both were recorded with full orchestral accompaniment, the sessions began.

Backed by a 50-piece orchestra, Simone recorded the material that would comprise A Single Woman with producer Andre Fischer (Natalie Cole’s then-husband and former drummer for the band Rufus). The ten tracks chosen from the sessions were revelatory, weaving songs about love in the style only Nina Simone could conceive and deliver. Simone recorded more material during the sessions, including covers of Bob DylanPrinceThe Beatles, and Bob Marley, pointing to a potential follow-up, but, sadly, A Single Woman would be her final studio album before her passing in 2003.

A Single Woman was reissued in 2006, adding seven of those performances left behind. Now, four more previously unissued recordings from those sessions have been added to create A Single Woman: The Complete Elektra Recordings—21 tracks on CD and double-LP. Newly remastered, this collection also contains new liner notes from the British Ambassador of Soul, David Nathan, outlining both the recording of the album, but also recounting his nearly three-decade relationship with Dr. Simone—beginning when he formed the UK Nina Simone Appreciation Society in 1965.

Outlier Unleash Explosive New Single “Creature Of The Night” Ahead Of March 2026 Album ‘Screamiere’

0

Active rock force OUTLIER have unleashed their explosive new single, “Creature of the Night”, now available on all major streaming platforms. Alongside the release, the band has dropped the official music video, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Tom Flynn (known for his work with Ice Nine Kills, Lamb of God, and All That Remains).

Speaking about the new release, Joey Arena shared:  “When meeting someone, especially romantically, people put on a pretty face and wear their Sunday’s best. But, what would happen if you approached it the other way, by starting off revealing the darker side of yourself, your most vulnerable and true form, your unapologetic self? There would be less of a phase, cause if your demons can play well together then you’re forever living in the ‘honeymoon phase’. Creature; although a more aggressive song, its a love song but not in the way most would expect.”

The single’s powerful production comes courtesy of Ricky Armellino (Ice Nine Kills, Hawk), with co-production by Justin DeBlieck (ex-Motionless in White), mixing by Chris Dawson, and mastering by Mike Kalajian.

The track serves as a preview of the band’s highly anticipated upcoming album, Screamiere, set for release in March 2026.

Honing in on a modern sound while consistently setting themselves apart from the mainstream, Outlier prides themselves in creating exemplary rock and metal music backed by a rapidly growing fanbase. Outlier has earned over 8 million on demand streams across DSP platforms as well as more than 6 million views of user generated content on YouTube alone. In addition to their loyal fan base, the band has caught attention through achieving features in major media outlets such as Revolver, Loudwire, Alternative Press, Decibel and ABC News.

Continually hitting the Billboard charts, Outlier has been able to spread their sound nationwide through constant spins on FM radio and months of regular rotation on SiriusXM Octane– launching them into the forefront of their genre. Outlier has had 6 singles featured on SiriusXM Octane; “Who We Are”, “Buried Me Alive”, “Blame The Dead”, “Living Dead”, “Heartless” and their latest, “Dead Man Running”, winning the hearts of satellite radio listeners across the country and emphasizes the bands ability to stay creative while maintaining an ever-growing fanbase.
