“Hollywood Nights” is a 1978 single by Bob Seger, released as the second from Stranger in Town. The driving rocker captured the energy of Los Angeles nightlife, pairing Seger’s grit with vivid storytelling. Inspired while cruising the Hollywood Hills—and a Time cover of Cheryl Tiegs—Seger imagined a Midwestern kid swept into the city’s wild allure.
Elysia Biro Signs To Universal Music Canada And Deutsche Grammophon And Releases Debut Single “Just Wait A Minute”
Today, Universal Music Canada and Deutsche Grammophon proudly announce the signing of singer, songwriter, and pianist Elysia Biro. Blending her classical training in piano and voice with her love of jazz instrumentation and pop songwriting, Biro has crafted a timeless signature sound with her recognizable timbre.
Elysia Biro’s skilled musicality and multi-faceted artistry shines on her debut single “Just Wait A Minute”, released today via Universal Music Canada and Deutsche Grammophon. Her warm, airy vocal tones and soul-stirring lyrics float over jazz-inspired live-off-the-floor brush drums, upright and electric bass, tenor and alto saxophone, organ, Wurlitzer piano, acoustic guitar, and flute. Effortlessly fusing technique with an enticing aura of creative flow, Biro’s music has an unyielding magnetism that lingers like a charged current in the air.
With a Master’s degree in Music, a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies for piano and voice, and a diploma in classical piano from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, 25-year-old Elysia Biro creates sonic sanctuaries all her own. Citing jazz and folk luminaries such as Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, and Joni Mitchell among her greatest influences, Biro honours both tradition and the possibilities that unfurl when exploring new forms. Much like her contemporaries Laufey, Olivia Dean, and Lizzie McAlpine, Biro’s music resonates with younger audiences yearning for expressive artistry in the form of jazz-and-classical-inspired pop music. Biro’s introspective songwriting, distinct soulful vocals, and skilled musicianship represent a timeless alliance not only of genres, but generations.
“I have been on an incredible creative journey,” said Elysia Biro. “I am so thrilled to be working with such lovely teams of talented, passionate people at Universal Music Canada and Deutsche Grammophon. It has been such a fulfilling and validating experience creating music that brings together so many of the sounds and influences that have shaped me. This music means so much to me and I’m beyond excited to be releasing it!”
“Elysia is one of the most exciting artists I’ve heard, and I can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with her music,” said Julie Adam, President & CEO, Universal Music Canada. “She is gifted – a talented songwriter with an incredible voice and outstanding musicianship. We are thrilled to partner with Dr. Clemens Trautmann and the wonderful Deutsche Grammophon team to share Elysia’s artistry with the world.”
“Elysia Biro is an extraordinary talent, and we are proud to be part of her promising artistic journey,” said Dr Clemens Trautmann, President Deutsche Grammophon and New Business Strategy Global Classics. “Discovered by my esteemed colleague Marc Fritsch, Elysia is already capturing international audiences with her unique voice, authenticity, and artistic depth coming from a jazz background. Beyond the towering classical legacy of the Yellow Label, our creative teams at Deutsche Grammophon have fostered the outstanding careers of Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Agnes Obel and Gregory Porter in partnership with our iconic jazz sister labels. We are hugely excited for our close collaboration with Universal Music Canada. Together, we are laying the groundwork for what we believe will be a powerful and far-reaching career.”
Raised in the wilds of Vancouver Island and classically trained in piano, 25-year-old Elysia Biro (pronounced Eh-lee-sha Bee-row) is a technically gifted singer, songwriter, and pianist. At 13, inspired by the genre’s improvisational free form, she taught herself how to play jazz by ear and began writing her own music. After graduating high school at 16, Biro earned her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies for piano and voice before moving to England to complete her Master’s of Music degree at the University of York.
Crafting her unique sound from an expansive fusion of genres, Elysia Biro’s songwriting blends modern pop form and classical technique with jazz sensibilities. An expressive and introspective songwriter, her warm, soulful vocals reflect her journey through self-discovery, love, and introspection, painting a compelling portrait of life as she knows it right now, blossoming between seasons. Biro has quickly amassed a dedicated audience on social media through her captivating vocals and virtuosic transcriptions of jazz solos. Now based in Los Angeles where she writes, records and produces, Elysia Biro continues to combine worlds, creating sonic sanctuaries all her own.

Ed Sheeran Releases New Album ‘Play’ And Drops Video For “Camera” Starring Phoebe Dynevor
Today, Ed Sheeran releases his brand-new album Play (listen here). To celebrate the release, he has dropped the official video for his new single “Camera”, starring Phoebe Dynevor.
Ed Sheeran’s epic new single “Camera” — co-produced by ILYA (Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello), Andrew Watt (Post Malone) and Louis Bell (Justin Bieber)— reinforces Sheeran’s mastery of balladry and lyrical depth. Inspired by his wife Cherry, the track exudes reverence and serves as a celebration of deep connection. Directed by longtime collaborator Emil Nava, the official music video – starring Sheeran alongside Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor – portrays the early stages of a romantic relationship. Shot entirely on iPhone from the characters’ perspectives, the video depicts the raw spontaneity and thrill of new love as they explore Croatia’s picturesque Old Town, cruise on a moped, bar-hop into the night, and even share the stage at one of Sheeran’s stadium shows.
Today, Ed Sheeran releases his new album, Play. After closing the chapter on his Mathematics series, Sheeran is stepping boldly into a fresh new phase for 2025. An artist who is constantly evolving, Play finds Sheeran exploring new musical ground through collaboration with producers and musicians from across the globe, as well as diving deeper into the timeless sounds and themes that have made him one of the world’s best-loved pop artists. Inspired in part by his exposure to Indian and Persian musical cultures – and their surprising connections to the Irish folk tradition he grew up with through shares scales, rhythms, and melodies – he has explored a borderless musical language that has given the album a fresh, distinctive edge. On more familiar ground, Sheeran reminds us why he remains one of the most influential singer-songwriters of his generation, as he deliveries a series of tracks that speak to his wholehearted balladry. The result is a collection that plays with both the familiar and new, creating an exciting bold, pop-driven sound that feels transformative.
Tonight, Friday 12 September at 5pm BST, Ed Sheeran will head to NPR’s offices for a special livestreamed Tiny Desk performance, where he’ll play a selection of new music on his loop station in the first-ever livestreamed Tiny Desk concert of this scale. Fans can tune in here.
Madison Cunningham Releases ‘Wake’ Featuring Fleet Foxes And Announces New Album ‘Ace’
Today, Los Angeles singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham releases the second single, “Wake (ft. Fleet Foxes),” from her highly anticipated third studio album Ace. The pivotal and heartbreaking record spans 14 tracks and is out on October 10 on Verve Forecast. Also announced today is Cunningham’s The Ace Tour, beginning on January 6th, 2026 in San Francisco. Enjoy “Wake (ft. Fleet Foxes)” here and you can pre-order the album including exclusive color vinyl and signed copies of Ace here.
Featuring Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes, the pair of songwriters present a delicate, dazzling song featuring Cunningham on dueling acoustic guitars. “Wake” is a song about reflection, about looking in the rearview mirror and seeing someone wasn’t right for you all along. They sing, “It hits me as I drive away / I’ll never see your hair go gray.”
Cunningham first met Pecknold backstage at one of her shows, putting a face to the music she had long adored. “Fleet Foxes’ melodies and songs have inspired me for as long as I can remember,” Cunningham says. “I feel quite lucky to have been able to experience his genius up close.”
Robin Pecknold on working with Madison Cunningham:
“Working with Madison on this was a humbling and enlightening experience! We did maybe ten takes where she played and sang perfectly every time and I struggled to keep up. She’s a force and an inspiration, thank you so much Madison for pushing things forward so masterfully.”

Last month, Madison announced Ace and shared the first single, “My Full Name,” a vulnerable introduction that is both a love letter and a goodbye. Cunningham sings, “Love’s a kind of sorrow worth saving,” as she processes heartbreak and explores new beginnings. You can listen to “My Full Name” here.
Recently off the road with Mumford & Sons on their “Railroad Revival” Tour, the renowned guitarist and true artist’s artist steps into her own lane with Ace. Cunningham presents a fourteen-track album that is honest and full of heart, even as it breaks. A follow up to her GRAMMY award-winning album, Revealer (2022), Cunningham wanted to take risks with Ace, leading with her emotions, following whatever path they showed her. “You think you’re on the verge of true healing but something scares you,” she says, “And you have to start all over.”
Named by Hozier as one of the “most talented creative forces of our generation,” Madison Cunningham is a singer-songwriter and guitarist with two previous albums on Verve Forecast, Who Are You Now (2019) and Revealer (2022), which won the GRAMMY for “Best Folk Album.” She’s collaborated as a guitarist and as a vocalist with countless artists including Lucy Dacus, Remi Wolf, Mumford & Sons, Lucius, and Andrew Bird, among others.

Jacob Collier Announces New Album ‘The Light For Days’ Centered On Guitar
In just one short year since closing the loop on the staggering universe of Djesse – the four-album, seven-year series that spawned hundreds of collaborations, hundreds of songs and hundreds of thousands of voices in song from around the world – Jacob Collier is embarking on his next creative adventure. On October 10th, the seven-time GRAMMY winner will release The Light For Days (Hajanga/Interscope/Decca), a brand new record centered around a single instrument: the guitar. Featuring six original songs and five handpicked covers of longtime idols and inspirations such as James Taylor, John Martyn, The Beatles and The Beach Boys, this collection of music captures Collier at his most present and immediate. Gone are the pressures to outdo himself and continue exceeding the infinite possibilities, limitless capabilities and boundless expectations set by each growing installment of Djesse – The Light For Days is Collier freeing himself to be himself in his rawest, purest form.
Jacob Collier never anticipated when or how his next album would come, until it did. During a brief trip home to London, sitting in the same music room where his career began, surrounded by walls, shelves, desks and drawers full of instruments, he chose to explore his 5-string and 10-string signature Taylor acoustic guitars more fully than he ever had before. Through alternate tunings (“DAEAD”) and techniques, he trades scale for intimacy. Recorded and produced in only four days, The Light For Days reflects a core pillar of Collier’s artistry, offering a sonic counterpart to the moments in his live shows when everything falls away and it is just him and the music he loves. Following his recently-released rendition of the last Brian Wilson’s “Keep An Eye On Summer,” Jacob Collier has shared the latest preview of the album, an original song called “I Know (A Little),” available now.
“Since completing the Djesse album series, my imagination has been brimming with all sorts of ideas of things I’d like to do and create. One of the things I’ve wanted to really focus on, and zone into, is the limitation of a single instrument. The acoustic-guitar sound world has been a foundational aspect of my music universe for as long as I can remember, and so I set myself the challenge of making a full-length album, using almost entirely the five-stringed guitar, in just four days. As a result I had to work so fast that I couldn’t second-guess anything – I just had to roll with and trust the process. The results are warm, scrappy, imperfect, but very close to my heart.” – Jacob Collier
For those who have seen Jacob Collier’s magnetic and intimate performances live, or come into the Jacob community through the lens of songs such as “Hideaway”, “The Sun Is In Your Eyes” and “Little Blue,” The Light For Days feels like coming home. For everyone else, it is an album that shows him in a whole new light, while serving as a powerful reminder of the voice and versatility that have earned him seven GRAMMY wins and 15 nominations across genres. It is the first album to feature his lone human face on the cover, as he continues to ask the world to embrace “the wiggle”: softness is strength, and when we make music, we move and bend together.
Last month, Jacob Collier previewed The Light For Days during a surprise playback at his inaugural Hideaway Retreat, where he and 300 musicians and music enthusiasts transformed Tarrytown, NY into the center of his radically joyful world. The event marked a culmination of a year that has seen him earn his fifteenth GRAMMY nomination, and his second for Album of The Year; honor his late mentor and musical hero, Quincy Jones, on the GRAMMY telecast; headline the O2 Arena in his London hometown; collaborate with Bon Iver, as well as 9,000 primary school children as part of the UK’s ‘Young Voices’ choir initiative; conduct the National Symphony Orchestra in a completely improvised performance; perform atop an Arctic iceberg with AURORA and Greenpeace; and lead hundreds of thousands of concert attendees in his immersive audience choirs.
Whether it’s working with such artists as Quincy Jones, Joni Mitchell, SZA, Bon Iver, Coldplay, Shawn Mendes, John Mayer, Stormzy, Kirk Franklin, Oumou Sangaré, Anoushka Shankar or Hans Zimmer, selling out arenas, breaking track-count limits in DAWs, or bringing 100,000 people together in audience choirs around the world, Jacob Collier continues to push the boundaries of creative possibility, with a mission of uniting and inspiring every continent in a language beyond words. He plays, writes and communicates with a warmth, openness and drastic inclusivity that has expanded heart and minds and inspired millions, and while the four-album opus of Djesse has felt like “attending the most expansive, open-minded music festival” says Billboard, The Light For Days is the start of something distinctly new.
This fall, Jacob Collier continues a run of shows across South America, India, China, Australia and the US, where he will perform with his band, orchestras and completely solo. Find the full list of upcoming dates at jacobcollier.com/tour.

Yusuf Cat Stevens Releases ‘On The Road To Findout Greatest Hits’ And Announces Memoir Tour
Cat-O-Log Records, in partnership with A&M/UMe, has today released On The Road To Findout: Greatest Hits, the definitive and first-ever career-spanning collection of Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ profoundly emotive and moving songs from his near 60-year recording career.
On The Road To Findout: Greatest Hits welcomes you into the imaginative universe of one of the world’s stellar musical talents: Yusuf / Cat Stevens. This phenomenal collection of songs highlights the depth and inventive style of his unique musical storytelling.
It features timeless hits that have transcended the era of their original releases, including “The Wind,” “Peace Train,” “Where Do The Children Play?” and “Wild World,” comprising songs from his debut 1967 LP, Matthew & Son, through to his most recent, the 2023 King Of A Land album. Greatest Hits also includes a 24-page booklet containing all the incredible lyrics and never-before-seen reflections on the music by Yusuf / Cat Stevens himself.
Yusuf / Cat Stevens says: “I’m pleased that, at last, a collection of recordings includes some important songs I wrote after my evolvement, “Take The World Apart” and “Heaven / Where True Love Goes” for instance, reflecting the peace and happiness which has since changed my life. Thank you one and all. It’s really humbling to think about how many souls have been traversing this journey with me.”
On The Road To Findout: Greatest Hits arrives ahead of Yusuf’s long-awaited memoir Cat On The Road To Findout, which will be released on October 7, 2025 and supported by numerous sold out in-person events in North America and the U.K. (see dates below). The new autobiography is an extraordinary transformative journey through the triumphs, trials, and boundless quest of one of music’s most enigmatic figures of all time. To pre-order the book, visit catstevens.com
Cat Stevens was launched to fame in the swinging sixties, with chart-topping pop hits like “Matthew & Son” and “The First Cut Is The Deepest.” His early career was interrupted by a near-fatal battle with tuberculosis – a turning point that ignited his quest for peace and understanding. Emerging from this experience, he rapidly rose to become one of the most prolific singer-songwriting icons of the seventies, captivating the world with soul-stirring anthems like “Wild World,” “Father And Son,” “Peace Train,” and “Morning Has Broken.” His classic albums Mona Bone Jakon, Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat have earned him a rightful place in both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Following another dangerous encounter with fate and near-drowning experience in 1975, Cat’s life took a spiritual turn as he converted to Islam and changed his name to Yusuf Islam. Leaving the music industry behind, Yusuf dedicated his life to God, family, and humanitarian work, which saw him receive numerous prestigious international awards including the World Award for “humanitarian relief work helping children and victims of war” and the Man of Peace Award, voted for by The Nobel Peace Laureates.
The latest chapter is Yusuf’s return to music, through which he has re-joined his past and present lives. Now known as Yusuf / Cat Stevens – a name that represents the synergy between the two key periods of his life – his inspirational story is one of quest, survival, and redemption. With over 100 million records sold and billions of streams, his powerful voice and poetic lyrics continue to inspire, now intertwined with a life of activism and altruism. As a campaigner for faith education, ecological consciousness and humanitarian work, Yusuf has become a global advocate for peace and coexistence.

It’s about dancing through heartbreak. It’s raw and empowering, with a playful, voyeuristic point of view.”
