Slipknot Celebrate 25 Years With Deluxe Reissue Of Landmark Self-Titled Debut

Released on June 29th, 1999, Slipknot’s self-titled debut, now triple platinum, was an instant classic with fans and a smash hit with critics. Celebrating the iconic album with its deluxe reissue, Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition) is available in stores and across digital retailers today via Roadrunner Records.

To mark its release, today the band has also shared the official video for “Scissors”, taken from Welcome to Our Neighborhood, Pt. 2.

Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition) was initially released to fans as a special box set edition. Limited to 100 blood-filled self-titled LP vinyl copies via their secret site 742617000027.net, the edition sold out in seconds, crashing the website in the process.

Its additional physical versions include a 6LP Box Set with blood-splattered vinyl (limited to 1,899 copies, which also sold out in minutes), 2LP editions in various limited-edition colourways, and a 2CD, in addition to digital releases on streaming services.

Depending on the format, this release includes the original Ross Robinson-produced album, plus recordings that were only heard by the band and their inner circle at the time of production. All collected from the original sources, these include unreleased takes, alternate versions, and mixes from SR Audio, Indigo Ranch, and more, as well as ‘test mixes’ from alternate mixers.

Not only are these recordings the full story behind the recording of this now-iconic album, they also chart the course of choices made and paths taken, and how the Slipknot the world knows today came to be.

Ed Sheeran and NPR’s Tiny Desk Team Up For Historic Concert On ‘Play’ Album Release Day

On September 12, four-time Grammy Award winner Ed Sheeran will join NPR’s iconic Tiny Desk for an intimate, live-streamed concert following the release of his new album ‘Play’ earlier that day. Sheeran will perform a selection of new music on his loop station in the first-ever livestreamed Tiny Desk concert of this scale. The concert will reach more than 60 million subscribers across NPR and Sheeran’s YouTube channels.

The concert airs live at noon ET on NPR Music’s YouTube channel and will be available following the show on Ed Sheeran’s channel and NPR Music’s channel.

“The Desk has always been about breaking down the walls between artist and audience,” said Bobby Carter, series producer and host of NPR’s Tiny Desk. “With this livestream, we’re taking that intimacy worldwide. And trust me — Ed Sheeran is going to make history.”

NPR’s Tiny Desk has become known for its authenticity, and this livestream takes that experience to the next level by bringing listeners in the room, in the moment.

“The Tiny Desk concerts that regularly publish are meticulously post-produced by our talented audio and video producers,” said NPR Music’s Executive Producer Suraya Mohamed. “We are excited to share a live, raw version of a Tiny Desk concert with our audience — something we haven’t done since 2019.”

Since launching in 2008, NPR’s Tiny Desk series has become one of the most celebrated and influential concert series in the world. From rising stars to global icons, artists perform stripped-down sets behind the Desk at the NPR headquarters. By focusing on raw, unfiltered artistry, Tiny Desk has redefined what live performance can be. With millions of subscribers across YouTube and social media, NPR’s Tiny Desk reaches more than 20 million viewers each month and generated more than 62 million views across platforms in the past year.

This marks Sheeran’s second collaboration with NPR. He first appeared in a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert in 2021, filmed during the work-from-home era of the global pandemic. Now, with ‘Play,’ Sheeran’s eight studio album, Sheeran returns to bring never-before-performed music to the Tiny Desk through a rare livestream.

Cam Returns After Four Years With Soulful New Single “Alchemy”

GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Cam returns with her long-awaited solo single, “Alchemy,” out now across platforms. Marking her first solo release in four years, the track brings together folk, pop, and country in a seamless fusion that highlights her evolution as an artist.

Produced by frequent collaborator Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus), “Alchemy” finds Cam co-writing with Johnson, Michael Uzowuru (Frank Ocean, SZA), and Anders Mouridsen (Meghan Trainor). The result is a contemplative yet bright exploration of life’s cyclical journey.

“I wanted to write something where we just focused on melody, but it turned into a song about reflecting on what we’re made of, where we’re coming from and where we’re going,” Cam says of the track.

To accompany the song’s release, Cam debuted a compelling one-take visual directed by James Mackel, known for his work with Doechii. The video serves as a thoughtful visual extension of the track’s lyrical depth.

The Boxmasters Close Out ‘Pepper Tree Hill’ Tour At Dolby Theatre With Special Los Angeles Show

The Boxmasters will wrap their Pepper Tree Hill Tour with a show at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on October 20th. The group is on tour to support its 19th album, Pepper Tree Hill, which was released this summer, showcasing the group’s love of the Sixties and the inspiration of their studio, also named Pepper Tree Hill.

Tickets for the newly announced Los Angeles concert go on sale on Friday, September 12th at 10 am local time.

Last month, Bud Thornton and JD Andrew spoke to us about the album and tour. The song “Pepper Tree Hill” features legendary trumpeter and bandleader Herb Alpert and longtime collaborator and Boxmaster alum Brad Davis. The title track is “a salute to the creative atmosphere that The Boxmasters thrive in.”

“This album really is, more so than a lot of our records, even though all of our songs that we write are based on the 70s and the British invasion and all that. This one really has some touches that are more evident than usual and, of course, we had Herb Alpert on the song ‘Pepper Tree Hill’ which harkens back to the 60s,” Thornton says.

They recently opened for The Who in Newark, New Jersey, where the show didn’t go as planned. Thornton and Andrew discuss the performance along with the album, tour, and more, including a Landman soundtrack album that’s in the works, featuring original songs co-written with Landman co-star and country singer-songwriter Mark Collie, Ronnie Dunn, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Parker McCollum, and Dwight Yoakam, to name a few.

Dropkick Murphys Honor Ken Casey’s Grandfather With Emotional New Single “Chesterfields And Aftershave”

Dropkick Murphys have just released a new single and video from their powerful and poignant For The People album. Following the success of the early track “Who’ll Stand With Us?,” a call to stand together against divisiveness and inequality, the new single and video for “Chesterfields And Aftershave” pay tribute to singer and founder Ken Casey’s late grandfather, who was an important role model in his life.

The video, directed by Jon Vulpine, features evocative vignettes that follow a young “Ken Casey” and demonstrate the steadying influence his late grandfather had on his childhood. The video includes historical television clips of Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and Boston Celtics games that Ken watched with his grandfather when he was a child, as well as a clip from the Red Sox’s 2004 World Series-clinching victory referenced in the song, thanks to the help of MLB, the NHL, and the NBA.

The video culminates with the song’s refrain “I hope I’d make you proud” as Ken’s grandfather watches on (in spirit) while Dropkick Murphys perform the song at their recent free show for the Quincy 400 celebration – just a mile up the road from where the band formed in 1996.

Casey explains the song’s inspiration, “My father died when I was young and my grandfather raised me. He passed away before the band got going. I hope my grandfather would’ve really liked the message that we carry in our music because he’s the one that ingrained a lot of those beliefs in me. I hope I would’ve made him proud and I hope the band would’ve made him proud.”

Dropkick Murphys recently shared a video of band members speaking about people who helped them become who they are today.

“In a chaotic time, this heartfelt song about the people who helped us become who we are today was released just in time for Grandparents Day (September 7 in the U.S),” the band shares.

The post includes a call for fans to tag @DropkickMurphys in a post (or send a DM) “talking about someone who’s been instrumental in YOUR life…and don’t forget to play Chesterfields in the video!”

Dropkick Murphys have also announced the titles of the 5 bonus songs that will be included on the For The People vinyl and CD release, out October 10 via the band’s Dummy Luck Music label / Play It Again Sam. Four of these songs are exclusive to the physical album and “Sirens” was previously only released digitally as a single.
