Multi-BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominee Olivia Dean announces her highly-anticipated second album, The Art of Loving, arriving on 26th September.

The Art of Loving is a tender, intentional deep dive into the many dimensions of love – romantic, platonic, self, and everything in between. The album will feature Olivia’s recently released single, ‘Nice To Each Other’, which is accompanied by a one-take visual captured by Jake Erland. When speaking about her joyful new single, Olivia comments, “‘Nice To Each Other’ is a song about the push and pull of exploring your independence in dating. It’s about enjoying someone in the present and allowing it to be both light and meaningful. I think this song and video represents a playfulness in me that I’m excited for people to see.”

The Art of Loving follows the critical success of Olivia’s 2023 debut, Messy, which saw her cement her status as one of the most compelling voices in neo-soul and pop.

With her signature warmth and lyrical honesty, Olivia Dean invites listeners into a new era of sound and storytelling. Poised to be her most intimate work yet, The Art of Loving begins an exciting chapter from one of the UK’s most mesmerising artists.

All-Canadian Cast Announced for Musical Comedy ‘& Juliet’ at Royal Alexandra Theatre

0

David and Hannah Mirvish are thrilled to announce the all-Canadian cast of the highly anticipated new production of the international smash-hit musical comedy & Juliet.

“As we all know, & Juliet had its North American premiere and pre-Broadway run in Toronto in July 2022,” said David and Hannah Mirvish.

“From the very first performance, Toronto audiences responded with ecstatic applause, laughter and dancing in the aisles. We knew right away we had to give Toronto its very own production of this smart, cheeky, surprising and life-affirming musical comedy, written by Toronto’s very own David West Read

& Juliet’s creative team, which consists of top-tier creatives from London and New York theatre, were mightily impressed with the talent they saw in Canada and were hard pressed to decide on who to cast because there were just too many choice candidates. But they did and we now have our all-Canadian cast.

“The cast consists of artists we know and love from past productions, others we’ve been following on stages around the city and beyond, and some exciting new talent making their professional debuts.”

Starring in the title role will be Vanessa Sears, who has performed on major stages across Canada and on Broadway. She was one of the stars of our production of Kinky Boots and will also star in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 this summer at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

And speaking about the Royal Alex, David Silvestri, who made that theatre his second home for the multi-year run of Come From Away, will star as Lance.

Julia McLellan will star as Anne Hathaway. She was in two previous shows at the Royal Alex – Kinky Boots and SIX.

Anne Hathaway’s husband, Shakespeare, will be played by the celebrated Stratford and Shaw actor George Krissa. He will star in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 this summer at the Royal Alex.

Matt Raffy will star as May, a role they played on Broadway. Matt was a member of the original & Juliet company that premiered the show in Toronto.

Sarah Nairne, who was also in Come From Away, will star as Angélique, Juliet’s nurse.

Starring as Romeo will be David Jeffery.  Hailing from Medicine Hat, AL, he made his professional debut in Dear Evan Hansen in Toronto and went on to star in the Broadway production.

Another member of the original & Juliet North American and Broadway premiere company, Brandon Antonio will star as Francois.

The ensemble includes Sam Boucher, Mariah Campos, Celeste Catena, Elysia Cruz, Saccha Dennis, Ryder Nick Desaulnier, Taran Kim, Jade Kimaya, Caitlyn MacInnis, Eric Martin, Stewart Adam McKensy, Patrick Park, Adam Sergison, Emry Tupper, McKenna Warwick and Tiera Watts.”

& Juliet will play a limited run at the historic Royal Alexandra Theatre, December 3, 2025 through March 22, 2026.

Tickets go on sale today, Monday June 2, 2025 at 10AM and are available online at mirvish.com or by phone at 1-800-461-3333

With a book by Toronto’s own David West Read, the Emmy Award-winning writer from Schitt’s Creek, and music from legendary five-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter/producer Max Martin, & Juliet uses some of the most beloved pop songs of the last three decades to tell a multi-generational story of self-discovery, empowerment and love.

& Juliet flips the script on the greatest love story ever told, imagining what would happen next if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo, and got a second chance at life and love – on her terms. Juliet’s new story bursts to life through a playlist of pop anthems as iconic as her name, including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” “Confident,” and more.

The production’s full creative team includes: Luke Sheppard (Direction), Jennifer Weber (Choreography), Bill Sherman (Musical Supervision, Orchestrations and Arrangements), Soutra Gilmour (Scenic Design), Paloma Young (Costume Design), Howard Hudson (Lighting Design), Gareth Owen (Sound Design), Andrzej Goulding  (Video & Projection Design),  J. Jared Janas (Hair, Wig & Makeup Design), and Dominic Fallacaro (Co-Orchestrations and Arrangements) and casting by Stephanie Gorin, CSA, CDC.

& Juliet premiered at the Manchester Opera House in September 2019, before transferring to the West End in November 2019. At the 2020 Laurence Olivier Awards, & Juliet received 9 nominations and won 3 awards. Following a pre-Broadway summer run in 2022 in Toronto, & Juliet opened at New York’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre in November 2022, where it continues to play to sold-out crowds and break box office records.

By Spring 2025, & Juliet will have played in nine countries and on four continents since its West End Premiere in 2019. The first North American tour of the musical kicked off its route last fall and will continue its run of more than 30 US cities this year, joined by the UK Tour (which began in July 2024), and a German production (October 2024).

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of & Juliet was released in October 2022 on Atlantic Records and is available wherever streaming music is played.

& Juliet is produced on Broadway by Max Martin, Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Jenny Petersson, Martin Dodd and Eva Price

Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson Deliver Powerful ‘Led Zeppelin IV’

0

In 2012, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart performed a moving rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Led Zeppelin’s IV album at the Kennedy Center with Jason Bonham, as Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones watched in awe. Ann has often credited the record the one that transformed her life, joining the ranks of her other teen influences like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Elton John. To her, Plant’s lyrics and Zeppelin’s songwriting made it a “teaching album,” one that inspired her to recreate its poetry in song.

When asked in an interview: “why do you ladies play Led Zepplin?” She replied, “because we can”.

Damn right.

Alt-Pop Artist Royal & the Serpent Releases New Single “Euphoria” Ahead of Debut Album

0

RIAA Gold-certified singer-songwriter Royal & the Serpent unveils a new single entitled “Euphoria” available now via Atlantic Records. The track sets the stage for more music to come very soon, including her anxiously awaited debut album later this year.

“Not to sound so cliche but the song was totally inspired by the show. When we were producing it out we would watch the carnival scene from season 1 over and over again. I wanted this song to feel like being at the top of a ferris wheel and looking out at an orange sunset… or like spinning in circles on the tea cups ride at an amusement park. I wanted it to feel like a fever dream.” – ROYAL & THE SERPENT

Recently, she unleashed “Carry Me Home” & “Death Do Us Part.” The latter has already amassed over 1 million streams and counting. Right out of the gate, Billboard touted it on “Queer Jams of the Week,” proceeding to proclaim, “Royal & the Serpent is done toying with her sound – she’s found it, and she’s not letting it go.” mxdwn also spotlighted how “The vocals in “Death Do Us Part” float over the beautiful keys to create a chilling track.”

Don Diablo Teams with Nelly Furtado on Energetic New Single “Doing Nothin’”

0

on Diablo joins forces with GRAMMY Award-winning superstar Nelly Furtado for their highly anticipated new single “Doing Nothin’,” out now via Casablanca Records.

As a celebration of carefree energy and summer escapism, the song pulses with a classic four-on-the-floor beat, playful percussive flair, and a bright piano melody that nods to the ’90s house while embracing a fresh, contemporary feel. Nelly’s effortlessly sassy vocal performance adds a catchy, tongue-in-cheek charm, elevating the feel-good anthem into certified summer soundtrack territory.

With two trailblazing artists at the helm, “Doing Nothin'” is poised to ignite dance floors and playlists worldwide. It follows Don’s stream of high-profile releases and collaborations with the likes of MK, Jamiroquai, Robbie Williams, Major Lazer, and more.

On this collaboration, Don Diablo says, “Working with Nelly has been high on my wishlist for many years! She’s an absolute icon on so many levels – and now, she’s the voice on a record we crafted together to soundtrack this year’s summer. ‘Doing Nothin” brings back that 90s piano house energy with a modern twist. It’s been a long time in the making, and we’re beyond excited to finally share it with the world.”

Nelly Furtado adds, “I love when DJs dig in the crates from my catalog, find a gem they hear something special in, and make it new again years later. This is the latest by Don Diablo, where he has taken my song from 2013 ‘Parking Lot’ and made it into a new song called ‘Doing Nothin’.’ Remix culture is one of my favorite cultures, for sure.”

Americana Rockers Jason Scott & The High Heat Share “Yardwork” Video from New Album ‘American Grin’

0

Jason Scott & The High Heat release the official music video for “Yardwork,” the rowdy, tongue-in-cheek anthem from their new album American Grin (Leo33). Directed by Chris Beyrooty, the video is a hilariously chaotic take on suburban survival, featuring the band as a misfit yard crew unraveling under the pressure of an overbearing homeowner-and an unexpected ending you won’t see coming.

Shot with cinematic flair by Gary Long and featuring standout performances from David Moskowitz and Basil Sarkr, the video plays like a fever dream of weed whackers, broken lawnmowers, and backlot rebellion. It mirrors the spirit of the track itself: gritty, loud, and unexpectedly deep beneath the layers of sweat and sarcasm.

“Yardwork” is more than just a backyard breakdown. With lyrics like “Got a mind that’s stoned and overgrown / The neighbors stop and stare,” the song taps into the feeling of being completely overwhelmed-by life, by expectations, and yes, by actual yardwork. Packed with roaring guitars, swampy grooves, and a chorus built for shouting along, it’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever looked around and said, “I ain’t doin’ anything.”

Jason Scott, a former preacher-turned-frontman with a flair for sharp storytelling, describes the track as a metaphor for “trying to clean up your act-and giving up whatever baggage is bringing you down.” It’s a theme that carries throughout American Grin, a record that has already earned acclaim for its genre-blending style, irreverent humor, and emotional depth.

Country Artist Ashley Monroe Releases “Bitter Swisher Sweet” with Brittney Spencer from New Album ‘Tennessee Lightning’

0

Ashley Monroe shares her new single “Bitter Swisher Sweet” featuring Brittney Spencer, the latest offering from her upcoming album Tennessee Lightning, out now. Accompanied by a video with footage of the two artists collaborating in the studio, the intoxicating new song revels in the highs and lows of escaping through self-medication.

About the new song, Monroe says: “The day Logan Wall, Emily Landis, and I wrote this song, we were just chatting before we started and Logan said the phrase ‘Bitter Swisher Sweet.’ I don’t even really remember the context, but we all looked at each other and knew it was a title we should chase. I had a little groove and bass thing going (a sick beat, as I call them) that gave us our vibe. We wrote it in less than an hour, and I’ve dug it ever since.”

“This song makes me think of a specific season of my early teenage years, when my older brother and his friends sometimes allowed me to tag along while they cruised Gatlinburg or some random East Tennessee backroads. Whilst they smoked Swisher Sweets, I sipped Zimas in the back seat, and we would just get lost in whatever music we had blasting and forget we had a care in the world. We had lost our dad a couple years earlier, and when I look back on that time in my life, I think how those ‘young and dumb’ seasons are never really wasted. In a lot of ways, they keep us alive… so get high, get low, light up, come on, the night is young.”

On working with Brittney Spencer: “When Gena [Johnson] and I were recording it, we kept saying, ‘I wish Brittney Spencer would sing on this!’ She is a dear friend of both of ours, and we are just blown away by her voice and her spirit. We’re so lucky she said yes!”

Spencer added, “I only have one video of my busking days down on Broadway. It’s a video of me playing ‘Hell on Heels.’ Ashley, her golden voice and magnetic lyricism shine so beautifully on ‘Bitter Swisher Sweet,’ and the whole album really. Getting to sing with her is an actual dream come true every time it happens. She’s the pop twang queen of my heart.”

“Bitter Swisher Sweet” follows “The Touch” featuring Marty Stuart, a smoldering love song that was hailed by The New York Times as “pristine.” Recorded in the wake of Monroe’s transformative bout with cancer, Tennessee Lightning documents her remarkable journey as a celebration of life, love and the healing power of music. In addition to Spencer and Stuart, the 17-song collection also includes contributions from special guests T Bone Burnett, Waylon Payne, Brendan Benson, Butch Walker, Karen Fairchild and Armand Hutton.

Co-produced by Monroe with GRAMMY-winning producer/engineer Gena Johnson (John Prine, Jason Isbell), Tennessee Lightning is a rich, multifaceted meditation on identity, purpose, and meaning from an artist who’s learned to see herself – and the world around her – in a whole new light following a life-altering diagnosis. “When I got diagnosed with lymphoma and started my treatment, I stopped writing, I stopped hearing melodies, I stopped thinking about songs at all,” Monroe recalls. For six months, she focused almost exclusively on her recovery and her family as she underwent a grueling regimen of injections and transfusions.

“When I finally went into remission, I could feel the life and the music start flowing in my veins again,” she explains. “It was like a flood, just this rush of inspiration.” Along with that inspiration came a newfound clarity and gratitude, as well as a vision for this new album.

“I feel like I’ve emerged from these last few years with a pretty profound perspective shift. I’ve learned to be more in the moment, to appreciate what’s right in front of me and enjoy every second I get to spend doing what I love with the people I care about.”

The album also features previously released tracks “There You Are,” “Hot Rod Pipe Dream” and “Risen Road.” The 3x GRAMMY nominee’s recent work has been lauded by American Songwriter, CMT, Stereogum and People Magazine, who interviewed her about this musical “fresh start.” Tennessee Lightning follows Monroe’s 2021 album Rosegold, which received widespread acclaim from the Nashville Scene, No Depression, Vulture, Paste Magazine, Garden & Gun, Stereogum and many more.

On July 25, Monroe will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of her GRAMMY-nominated 2015 album The Blade with a one-night-only show at Nashville’s The Basement East, where she will perform the record in its entirety. In August, she’ll be co-headlining a run of shows with Fancy Hagood across Europe and the United Kingdom.
