0

Country music icon Reba McEntire releases a “fire” (Parade) performance video for “Trailblazer (Live From Music City Rodeo)” featuring surprise appearances from Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson. McEntire kicked off the sold-out inaugural event at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on May 29.

Written by Lambert, Wilson, and Brandy Clark, and produced by McEntire and Tony Brown, the song is a heartfelt tribute to the pioneering women of country music who paved the way for future generations. Now captured in a live video, the “unexpected collaboration was a true highlight of the night” (American Songwriter). The electrifying performance—where “the crowd erupted in applause and screams” (Parade)—showcased soaring vocals, raw authenticity, and the camaraderie of three trailblazing women, cementing “Trailblazer” as an anthem of grit, resilience, and the enduring power of women in country music. At the close of the performance, the three women joined hands in a powerful tribute, standing together as three generations of country music trailblazers united in honoring the past, present, and future of the genre.

0

Amazon MGM Studios has acquired Man on the Run, an intimate feature documentary exploring Paul McCartney’s creative rebirth after The Beatles’ breakup, directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville.

The documentary, which will premiere this weekend at the Telluride Film Festival, is the centerpiece of a comprehensive new partnership among Paul McCartney, Universal Music Group, and Amazon that will unfold over the next year, including the release of exclusive music and merchandise drops for fans from Amazon Music, and one-of-a-kind commentary from McCartney himself. The partnership coincides with the release of his book Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, which will be available on Amazon and Audible November 4th, and McCartney’s Got Back tour dates across North America this fall.

Man on the Run, which is produced by Tremolo, in association with MPL and Polygram Entertainment, will be released in select theaters and subsequently available on Prime Video February 25th in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Producers include Morgan Neville, Chloe Simmons, and Meghan Walsh for Tremolo; Scott Rodger and Ben Chappell for MPL; and Michele Anthony and David Blackman for Polygram Entertainment. Executive producers include Caitrin Rogers and Paul McCartney.

Man on the Run takes viewers on an intimate journey through Paul McCartney’s extraordinary life following the breakup of The Beatles and the formation of Wings with his wife, Linda. From Academy Award-winning director Morgan Neville, the film chronicles the arc of McCartney’s solo career as he faces down a myriad of challenges while creating new music to define a new decade. Through unprecedented access to previously unseen footage and rare archival materials, the documentary captures Paul’s transformative post-Beatles era through a uniquely vulnerable lens.

Born in Liverpool in 1942, Paul McCartney was raised in the city and educated at the Liverpool Institute. Since writing his first song at 14, McCartney has dreamed and dared to be different. Paul’s output has been impossibly prolific and singularly influential crossing many different genres. Paul changed the world forever with The Beatles before going on to continue to push boundaries and make music history with his group Wings and as a solo artist. His most recent solo (and 18th) studio album McCartney III secured the UK Album Chart’s festive Number 1 spot in 2020, furthering his lead as the UK’s most successful album act of all time. In November 2021 Paul released his book, THE LYRICS: 1956 to the Present, recounting his life and art through the prism of 154 songs from all stages of his career – from his earliest boyhood compositions through the legendary decade of The Beatles, to Wings and his solo albums to the present. The LYRICS hit Number One on the New York Times Best Seller list, and was named the 2021 Book Of The Year by Barnes & Noble. An 18-time Grammy winner and recipient of The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement and Trustees Awards, McCartney’s list of international accolades reads like no other as well as being recognised for decades of philanthropic activities. Equally renowned for his live performances as he is for his song-writing, Paul set the world record for largest paying concert attendance – 184,000 people – in Rio De Janeiro in 1990. A freeman of The City Of Liverpool and Lead Patron of The Liverpool Institute Of Performing Arts, Paul McCartney was appointed Fellow of The Royal College of Music in 1995 by The Prince Of Wales. In 1996 Paul McCartney was knighted by H.M. The Queen for his services to music, and in 2017 he was made a Companion Of Honour in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Buckley, They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead, about the production of Orson Welles’ final film and Keith Richards: Under the Influence, about the rock legend. His latest narrative film, Piece by Piece for Focus Features, released on October 11th, is a captivating motion picture experience that explores the creative genius of Pharrell Williams through the lens of LEGO. Most recently Neville’s documentary series, SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, in cooperation with Lorne Michaels, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, streamed exclusively on Peacock in early 2025 and received an Emmy-nomination for Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series. He also recently executive produced Thank You Very Much, a film about Andy Kaufman and ART FOR EVERYBODY, a documentary on the artist Thomas Kinkade. Ger Carriere Glides Into Retro-Pop Groove With Dreamy New Single “Are You My Type”

0

Ger Carriere has never been shy about shape-shifting. With “Are You My Type,” which premiered on Independent Artist Buzz, she slips into a retro-tinged groove that feels like a late summer breeze, light R&B woven through glossy pop shimmer, equal parts playful and quietly vulnerable. It isn’t nostalgia dressed up, it’s influence reshaped, familiar textures recast into something that lands as distinctly hers.

The song carries itself with ease. Synths glisten, drums tap out a gentle insistence, and Ger floats above it all, letting her voice ride the current. The effect is chill, almost coy, a song that doesn’t have to shout to make its point. Where her last single crackled with glitter, “Are You My Type” leans back, stretches out, and invites you to bask in its atmosphere.

Beneath its surface, though, the track traces the quiet bravery of opening up again. It’s about that moment when walls come down, when you decide to let someone close enough to touch the soft spots you’ve kept hidden. There’s sweetness here, but also risk, and Ger captures both with the kind of subtle confidence that comes from lived experience.

The mood is cinematic in its restraint. Picture the end of August, when evenings carry a slight chill but you’re not ready to admit summer’s fading. That’s the pulse of “Are You My Type,” romantic, a little wistful, but still humming with possibility. It’s music for long drives, neon signs flickering in your periphery, and the hope that maybe, just maybe, someone might surprise you.

With this release, Ger Carriere adds another colour to her palette, showing her ability to transform raw feeling into pop that resonates. “Are You My Type” offers yet another glimpse of her upcoming EP.

The Beaches Drop Punk-Rock Anthem “Can I Call You In The Morning?” Ahead of New Album ‘No Hard Feelings’

0

Canadian alt-rock sensations The Beaches share “Can I Call You In The Morning?,” the final song from their highly anticipated upcoming record, No Hard Feelings, out everywhere tomorrow, August 29th via AWAL.

The chaotically catchy punk-rock “Can I Call You In The Morning?” fittingly serves as the opener of the album, introducing the listener to The Beaches’ energy with the No Hard Feelings era and inviting them along for the wild ride. “I liked your old band, but not the new songs, should we just break up then? Nevermind I don’t mean that, I’m sorry, can I call you in the morning?,” lead vocalist Jordan Miller chants during the song’s infectious chorus.

Jordan explains, “‘Can I Call You In The Morning?’ was inspired by an experience Kylie had at the end of her previous relationship. After a couple of late nights, she would call her ex and would spew all of her frustrations regarding their relationship, and then would be immediately apologetic and take it all back. It goes out to all of the chaotic girlies out there.” The track showcases the band’s signature transparent lyricism, an honest approach to writing that has helped cultivate a dedicated fanbase who relate to and value their authenticity and ability to take personal subjects and turn them into anthemic bangers.

The band is celebrating the release of No Hard Feelings by headlining the Chicago date of the four-stop Rolling Stone Presents: Gather No Moss tour at The Salt Shed tomorrow. The four-piece is set to perform newly released tracks as well as fan-favorite singles from the album.

Ahead of the band’s massive headlining tour, The Beaches will be stopping at the legendary GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles on September 3rd for a discussion around No Hard Feelings and a special performance.

Alabama Shakes Return After a Decade With New Single “Another Life” and Upcoming Third Album

0

Making a grand return, Alabama Shakes share a new single entitled “Another Life” out now. Marking the group’s first original release in over a decade—and their official debut for Island Records—it paves the way for their highly anticipated third full-length and first LP since 2015.

Alabama Shakes have solidified their place as one of today’s most influential rock bands. The trio of Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell has earned four Grammy Awards, garnered billions of streams, and achieved worldwide multiplatinum success. Their chart-topping Sound & Color earned three Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album, and a prestigious Album of the Year nomination.

“Another Life”—recorded at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville and produced by Alabama Shakes with longtime collaborator Shawn Everett—channels the original spirit that galvanized a generation of fans, reignited with fresh and focused energy. Smoky keys create a hazy atmosphere while a bluesy guitar echoes in the distance. As if materializing out of the ether, frontwoman Brittany Howard delivers a heart-wrenching and traffic-stopping vocal performance as she wonders, “Can we try again? One more time again? Can we try in another life?” A howling crescendo gives way to an emotionally charged solo, pulling blood, sweat, and tears from the fretboard and through dusty old tube amps. It is passionate, powerful, and precisely what audiences have been clamoring for. It’s simply Alabama Shakes.

Speaking to the track, Howard notes, “When we wrote Another Life, I was thinking about all the lives we carry. The ones we’re living right now, the ones that slipped away because of different choices, the what ifs, the what wasn’t meant to be, the goodbyes, and the chance encounters that feel divine. This song is about those threads and how they stretch across time and space, connecting every version of who we are. It’s about letting them come together, letting them harmonize, and realizing that goodbye isn’t really goodbye. It’s more like I’ll see you later. A collective story that never stops unfolding. I’m glad we opened this door into this reality of us making music together again.”

At the end of 2024, Alabama Shakes came together again for a surprise reunion gig at the Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa, AL, on December 18th. After bringing the house down, they retreated to the studio and began crafting new music; those sessions yielded “Another Life” and more.

Alabama Shakes is on tour, headlining amphitheaters, arenas, and festivals across North America.
