John Williams Jokes Beethoven “Had Been Swimming” After Sarah Willis Plays “Symphony No. 7”

Leave it to John Williams to reframe a cornerstone of classical canon with a wink. When French horn virtuoso Sarah Willis performed Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 7” mid-interview, the composer immediately heard dorsal fins circling. With impeccable timing, Williams quipped that Beethoven had been swimming all along—bridging two centuries of music with one shark-sized joke.

Armed with otamatones—part toy, part instrument—the Western Boone Junior-Senior High School band transformed novelty into spectacle. Under Leslie Baker’s direction, the goofy synthesizer became a strange, joyful weapon of sound, collapsing irony into earnest musical celebration.

BANKS Unveils Poignant New Single “Candy” and Deluxe Edition of ‘Off With Her Head’

0

BANKS releases her brand-new single “Candy” via ADA Worldwide, the independent label and artist services arm of Warner Music Group. “Candy” is a poignant and introspective track that candidly addresses her personal experience with depression, the complexities of antidepressants, and the internal struggle of whether to return to them.

BANKS says it was, “The feeling like I was weak. It made me angry. It’s something I had to overcome. This song is filled with my personal stories told in a dream-like way. It holds anger, blame, shame, feeling lost, love, and acceptance within its composition. It touches on family dynamics that happen when a member is depressed. When someone wants to help but can’t. When offers of advice feel offensive. When antidepressants are the answer. Like the candy a child needs to stop crying. The balance between childlike sounds and the heavy subject matter creates a world that feels eerie and beautiful.”

“Candy” is included on the deluxe version of BANKS’s most recent album, Off With Her Head, which is also out today. The deluxe album is an extension of the bold, genre-defying body of work that channels raw emotion, vulnerability and empowerment. The Off With Her Head deluxe album also includes five acoustic tracks and features previous singles “I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend” featuring Doechii, “Best Friends,” her most recent single, “Love Is Unkind,” as well as, “Delulu,” and “Meddle In The Mold.”

After leaving her 9-to-5 during the pandemic to pursue music full-time, Maddie has found her footing as a compelling new voice in the Nashville scene. Noah Cyrus Unveils ‘I Saw The Mountains’ With Stunning Rudy Grazziani-Directed Video

0

Noah Cyrus has revealed her latest single ‘I Saw The Mountains,’ released today and accompanied with a breathtaking music video directed by Rudy Grazziani.

‘I Saw The Mountains’ continues to establish 25-year-old Cyrus as one of the most treasured female songwriters in country and alternative. While her streaming numbers continue to soar globally, the Nashville-born artist stays true to her musical path, unwavering, and focused on making music that speaks truest to her, while growing into a one-of-a-kind artist of her generation.

The celestial and otherworldly wall of sound that ‘I Saw The Mountains’ conjures, invites listeners even further into the haunting and magical world of Noah Cyrus, and follows her collaboration with the highly lauded Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold on “Don’t Put It All On Me,” which garnered critical praise around the world from the likes of Rolling Stone Magazine, Pitchfork, American Songwriter, NME, and more.

On her new music, Cyrus reveals, “We all want to connect with our past while also being aware of the present moment. Music does that for me, and this new collection of songs was made with that in mind,” she says. “I want to evoke that feeling of a comforting friend- and allow us all to heal.”

Lorna Shore Unleash ‘I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me’ With New Single and 2025 Tour

0

The rumors are true – Lorna Shore are back in 2025 with new music and a new tour to lay their stake as one of the most impressive extreme metal acts to emerge in recent memory.

After a mysterious billboard appeared on the New Jersey Turnpike in the band’s hometown, Lorna Shore today confirms that their new album I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me is set for release on September 12 via Century Media Records. It’s led by the blistering first single “Oblivion” and a music video, directed by Dylan Hryciuk of Versa Films.

Says vocalist Will Ramos of the track, “Writing this song felt like the culmination of all the things that we’ve done in the past, but brought to the next level; a more evolved version of what Lorna Shore truly is.” He adds, “I imagined a post-apocalyptic world in the (hopefully distant) future. A world where we have sown the seeds of our own destruction. The idea that we wished for better, hoped we were doing something that would help save us in this dying world, only to end up accelerating its inevitable destruction. This brings up the question; what is right? Do we even know what we’re doing? What have we done to try and actually change anything? Are we watering the earth or just feeding a constantly growing fire?”

With the release of their upcoming fifth album, the first in three years since 2022’s Pain Remains, Lorna Shore’s incredible journey continues. They’ve hit the viral Spotify charts, racked up hundreds of millions of streams, embarked on highly successful tours and in the process, galvanized a significant fanbase that hangs onto the band’s quest for stylistic inversion. But by virtue of physical onslaught and wanting to divine truth from their music, Lorna Shore have kept themselves fired up by torching the metal rulebook at every turn, practically demanding that other genres step up their game.

10 Rock Lyrics That Became Life Mottos

Rock music has always been more than sound—it’s philosophy set to rhythm. Across decades, certain lyrics have leapt off the records to become cultural mottos, repeated far beyond concert halls or playlists. From stadium chants to everyday advice, these lines capture universal truths about resilience, freedom, love, and defiance. Here are ten rock lyrics that transcended their songs to become guiding principles in life itself.

1. “You can’t always get what you want.”

The Rolling Stones – “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” (1969)
This lyric has become a universal proverb about patience, compromise, and perspective. It’s quoted everywhere from movies to political speeches as a reminder of life’s realities.

2. “It’s only rock ’n’ roll (but I like it).”

The Rolling Stones – “It’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll (But I Like It)” (1974)
More than a song, it’s a cultural catchphrase used to dismiss criticism and celebrate joy in simplicity—embracing passion without overthinking.

3. “We don’t need no education.”

Pink Floyd – “Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)” (1979)
Beyond the song’s critique of rigid schooling, the lyric evolved into a broader slogan for youth rebellion and questioning authority, still echoed in classrooms and protests.

4. “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.”

U2 – “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (1987)
This line resonates as a metaphor for the endless human search for meaning, love, or fulfillment. It’s often invoked in spiritual, philosophical, and personal growth contexts.

5. “Don’t stop believin’.”

Journey – “Don’t Stop Believin’” (1981)
Arguably rock’s most quoted motivational lyric, it embodies perseverance and hope. Its use in sports stadiums, TV shows (The Sopranos), and political rallies has cemented it as a modern mantra.

6. “It’s better to burn out than to fade away.”

Neil Young – “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)” (1979)
Immortalized further by Kurt Cobain in his farewell note, this line captures rock’s ethos of intensity over longevity. It’s cited in debates about legacy, passion, and artistic fire.

7. “We are the champions.”

Queen – “We Are the Champions” (1977)
Adopted as a universal victory chant, this lyric transcended rock to become synonymous with triumph in sports, politics, and personal achievement.

8. “Born to run.”

Bruce Springsteen – “Born to Run” (1975)
This phrase symbolizes escape, freedom, and youthful rebellion. It’s been embraced in American culture as shorthand for chasing dreams against the odds.

9. “All you need is love.”

The Beatles – “All You Need Is Love” (1967)
Delivered during a worldwide satellite broadcast, this lyric became an anthem for peace and unity, quoted endlessly in weddings, protests, and global campaigns.

10. “It’s my life.”

Bon Jovi – “It’s My Life” (2000)
Though more recent, this lyric quickly became a generational motto about self-determination and seizing control of one’s destiny, used widely in pop culture and advertising.
