Wembley Park & Pantone Unveil ‘Yellow 25’ Installation Honoring Coldplay’s “‘Yellow’” Ahead of 10 Sold-Out Stadium Shows

0

North London neighborhood and entertainment district Wembley Park has unveiled a new, large-scale public art installation in collaboration with Pantone, the global colour authority and provider of professional color language standards and digital solutions for the design community.

Titled Yellow 25, the outdoor installation pays tribute to Coldplay, who formed in London, ahead of the band’s ten sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium, honoring the 25th anniversary of their breakthrough hit, “Yellow,” first released as a single in the UK on June 26, 2000.

For this installation, Wembley Park tapped Pantone’s team of color experts at the Pantone Color Institute to create a colour journey across the neighbourhood’s Spanish Steps, drawing inspiration from the full emotional and melodic arc of the iconic song.

The Pantone Color Institute team matched each of the 58 steps to a specific shade of yellow using the Pantone Matching System, starting with pale, muted tones and building to deeper, more luminous golds to reflect the song’s progression. Additionally, the song is framed within Pantone’s iconic chip, further illuminating the accuracy of the colors from concept to reality.

Yellow 25 is located on Wembley Park’s Spanish Steps, a key pedestrian link between two of the UK’s most iconic live venues: Wembley Stadium and the OVO Arena Wembley, formerly Wembley Arena.

Now in its fourth year, Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour lands in the UK on August 18th, with a record-breaking ten-night run at Wembley Stadium starting on August 22nd.

This public thoroughfare has become a symbolic stage in its own right. In 2024, it was transformed to celebrate Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour with the fan-favourite mural Auras by British artist Frank Styles. Now, it marks another cultural milestone, spotlighting Coldplay’s lasting legacy and influence in British pop music.

The latest addition to the free, public Wembley Park Art Trail, Yellow 25 transforms this multi-platinum global hit song into a visual story told through colour and applied across Wembley Park’s urban canvas.

Yellow is a color with deep roots. Across cultures and centuries, it has been associated with sunlight, joy, clarity, and divinity. Ancient civilisations such as the Egyptians and Greeks used yellow to represent the life-giving power of the sun, a source of warmth and emotional strength.

Coldplay’s “Yellow” taps into those same qualities. It is a song about love, hope, and devotion. Pantone’s approach focused on nuance. Each colour was chosen not only for its visual quality, but for how it reflects the emotional tone of each part of the track. Softer, desaturated yellows express moments of tenderness and uncertainty. As the melody rises, the shades brighten and shift, carrying the song’s energy and momentum. By the chorus, the yellows become fuller, deeper, more expressive. The bridge reaches peak intensity before softening again into a warm, luminous calm.

Pantone’s process involved more than matching colour to mood. The team considered saturation levels, tonal depth and the space between each hue to reflect the dynamic movement of the music. The installation mirrors the song’s structure, step by step, turning lyrics and melody into a visual path.

The result is something quiet but open. Whether you know the song or not, the colour invites you in. It speaks to hope, warmth, devotion and light. These are feelings that are shared and universal.

The Yellow Steps are also part of Wembley Park’s wider commitment to making culture visible in everyday public life. By bringing music into the built environment in this way, the piece connects not only two of the UK’s most iconic venues, Wembley Stadium and the OVO Arena Wembley, but also the people moving between them.

In keeping with Wembley Park’s commitment to sustainability, Yellow 25 has been produced using a PVC-free film that contains no chlorine, plasticisers, or heavy metals, making it less harmful to the environment and easier to recycle than traditional vinyl. Once the installation ends, it will be fully recycled and transformed into practical items like street cones, giving the artwork a purposeful second life.

Yellow 25 is part of the Wembley Park Art Trail, which features large-scale works across the neighborhood. Highlights include the now globally viral tributes to Taylor Swift, a mural dedicated to Lana Del Rey, and the Square of Fame, where visitors can see the handprints of artists including Madonna, George Michael, The Who, Bryan Adams, Kylie Minogue, and Dolly Parton. The installation is free and runs until September 30th.

Lettuce Serves Up Funky 80s Tribute With “‘Rising to the Top’” Ahead of New Album ‘Cook’

0

Legendary funk sextet Lettuce is releasing a cover of Keni Burke’s “Rising to the Top,” along with an accompanying music video, out today on all platforms. The single comes in anticipation of Lettuce’s forthcoming LP, Cook, due December 3 via the band’s own Lettuce Records. Burke, the one-time Five Stairsteps member, released “Rising to the Top” in 1982, and Lettuce gives the R&B hit new life in their take on the track. The accompanying music video, shot and edited by keyboardist & vocalist Nigel Hall, takes viewers through a Lettuce studio session through intimate shots and retro filters. Lettuce’s take on “Rising to the Top” is a love letter to the 80s R&B influences that shaped the band’s sound.

Drummer Adam Deitch called “Rising to the Top” an “R&B soul classic – tune paid serious tribute by the incredible Nigel Hall on vocals and keys.” Hall added, “This was a song I heard as a kid. Through Hip-Hop, I learned the original, and per usual, was stuck on it like many tunes I checked out through Hip-Hop in my formative years. I always wanted to play it and am grateful to have turned that wish into reality.”

Lettuce’s rendition of Burke’s classic hit is a carefree, late-summer soundtrack imparting a message of positivity and self-assurance. “Believe in yourself profusely. Never listen to the doubts of others about your potential,” adds bassist, Erick “Jesus” Coomes.

Cook isn’t just a nod to Lettuce’s musical heat; it’s an invitation to join the band at the table, where funk, soul, jazz, rock, and hip-hop come together in one rich, flavorful dish. The album offers a menu of delights that marks a group exploring new sonic territory. On Cook, Lettuce has expanded its ever-widening musical palette again, following tours with both rap icon GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and reggae legend Ziggy Marley. Earlier in the year, the band released the live album and concert film Lettuce with the Colorado Symphony. Still, there’s a generous dose of Lettuce’s patented funk, paying tribute to the great James Brown and his JB’s and honoring mentors like Tower of Power and Maceo Parker. For these six lifelong partners, the new songs feel like a nourishing meal that entices all of your senses.

“This record is a little more three-dimensional than our past albums,” says Deitch. “It shows a lot more sides to the band, exploring further depths of production and arrangements.”

The band has also recently announced the launch of Lettuce Red Crush and Orange Crush wine brands in collaboration with Aquila Cellars, along with a recipe book featuring pairings to be included with the vinyl album and available in digital form. The wine was brought to life by Bloom and Zoidis’ wine distribution company, Benny & Zoid Selections, which made it accessible to purchase nationwide online.

“Music and food are very related,” said Deitch. “Use the wrong ingredients in either and you can ruin the sound and the meal.”

With Cook, it appears Lettuce has the right recipe for success… both musically and organizationally.

“This is the best team we’ve ever had,” said Deitch of his current management. “We feel like the world is our oyster. Our concepts and ideas can really come to fruition now with our infrastructure. It’s beautiful to be in a headspace of feeling this fresh. It’s the start of a brand-new era for us.”

In anticipation of the release of Cook, Lettuce is set to perform around the world with dates starting tonight and continuing into 2026. The full schedule of shows, taking place across North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia, can be found below, including East Coast dates for 2026.

As part of the 2026 run, fans can also access the exclusive “Cookin’ with the Band” VIP experience, a pre-show hang designed for funk lovers and foodies alike. Available for all January and February shows, the package includes soundcheck viewing access; setlist voting power; early merch shopping + discount code; and limited-edition keepsakes like a custom ‘Cook’ apron, a printed recipe zine, and a signed tour laminate. Access is limited to 75 VIP spots per night and can be purchased at lettucefunk.com/tour.

Mudbaby Ru Drops Hypnotic New Single ‘Love With A YN’ Showcasing Loyalty and Restraint

0

West Memphis breakout Mudbaby Ru returns with the release of his new single “Love With A YN,” out today via Flawless Ent/Geffen Records. “Love With A YN” sits right where risk meets feeling. Mudbaby Ru flips between chasing what he wants and holding back just enough, telling a story of loyalty built from going through it together. The video matches that vibe—quick looks, quiet beats, and unspoken moves that hit harder than words—over a smooth, hypnotic trap cadence that lets his flow do the talking.

Over the past year, Mudbaby Ru has cemented his name beyond the regional buzz that first surrounded him, breaking through with street-tested records like “40 Mo Reasons” and “Watch How You Step.” His viral “Gun Class” and “Gun Class II” with Nardo Wick and G Herbo, which combined have surpassed 16 million views, his singles “Bezzal Land” and “Back Of The Class” have also collectively garnered over 1 million views on YouTube in under a year.

He has also worked with artists such as Rob 49 on their single “6.2 Music” proved he can stand toe-to-toe with some of the game’s most respected voices. “Love With A YN,” trades the heavy-handed bravado for a slower burn, showing the range and restraint of an artist in control of his craft.

BIOHEX & Jonny McBee Deliver Crushing Industrial-Hardstyle Remix of ‘FED UP’ Ahead of The Browning’s ‘OMNI [ULTRA]’

0

Continuing the drive towards OMNI [ULTRA]BIOHEX joins forces with The Browning’s Jonny McBee to unleash a brutal rework of “FED UP.”

Fusing industrial chaos with relentless hard techno and hardstyle energy, this remix slams with distorted kicks, cyber-metal breakdowns, and peak-hour intensity that blurs the line between mosh pit and warehouse rave. Engineered for dark rooms, flashing strobes, and bass junkies and splashed with McBee’s savage vocals, “FED UP” (BIOHEX & Jonny McBee Remix) is out now on all platforms from FiXT. Cue the strobe, crank the gain.

The Browning previously announced the release of their upcoming album OMNI [ULTRA] on August 27th via FiXT.

OMNI [ULTRA] features the original ten tracks of OMNI plus remixes from BIOHEX, Jonny McBee, KaixoKodesevenDarksiderzMACHINYST, and Zardonic, plus new single “OVERLORD” with SWARM and THE DEFECT. This upgraded two-disc edition of their latest full-length creation is more than an album. It’s a visceral descent into a futuristic fusion of deathcore, industrial, EDM, hardstyle, drum & bass, and rave metal laced with industrial textures, cybernetic rage, and raw emotional fire.

The original OMNI was a visceral journey through the depths of deathcore, featuring ten powerful tracks, including collaborations with Nik Nocturnal and THE DEFECT. The album showcased some of The Browning’s heaviest songs to date, like “HIVEMIND” and “Poison,” which together have amassed over 3.5 million streams across all digital platforms. “Deceiver,” the third release from the album, brings a blistering critique of the deceitful narratives perpetuated by those in power. Accompanied by an adrenaline-fueled official music video, “Deceiver” blends the explosive energy of metalcore with the dark, mechanical undertones of industrial and the raw emotion of deathcore and its inspiration – the iconic delivery found in Rammstein’s “Du Hast.”

The explosive single “OMNI,” featuring THE DEFECT, which premiered at Revolver Mag, served as a harbinger of the album’s fierce energy. The album ends with the ominous double capstone of singles “Come To Grips With Death and the End” and “Soul Drift,” which flip a complete 180 while still maintaining the fierce vocals, with “Soul Drift” illustrating the very definition of rave metal.
