Foreigner Marks 50 Years with Orchestral Tour of Iconic Hits

0

“I Want To Know What Love Is,” “Cold As Ice,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” “Hot Blooded,” “Juke Box Hero.” FOREIGNER’s timeless anthems are known and loved by generations. Streams and airplay place the band among the top artists every week. “I Want To Know What Love Is” is one of the very few songs by heritage artists certified for one billion streams on Spotify, and the high-profile use of “Juke Box Hero” in the Netflix blockbuster Happy Gilmore 2 was viewed by almost a hundred million in the first two weeks of its release

Now, the band has reinterpreted these songs with an orchestra, bringing an exciting new dimension to FOREIGNER’s music. The orchestral concerts are a celebration of the band’s 50th anniversary and will provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans to experience their most popular hits with a 20-piece orchestra playing spectacular arrangements written by Juilliard cello virtuoso Dave Eggar and conductor Chuck Palmer.  Eggar has performed, recorded and arranged for artists that include Coldplay, Paul Simon, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce and many more. It is an event not to be missed.

FOREIGNER’s love for orchestral performance of their hit songs began in Switzerland in 2017 when they appeared in Lucerne with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, resulting in a TV special which can be seen on PBS TV. It can be viewed here. Subsequently, they toured the show internationally, culminating with a sold-out appearance at the iconic Sydney Opera House.

FOREIGNER fan club members will have access to a pre-sale.

Radiohead Release ‘Hail to the Thief Live Recordings 2003–2009’ with Rare Performances from Four Cities

0

Radiohead have today announced Hail to the Thief Live Recordings 2003-2009 – a new live album that allowed the band to re-evaluate their relationship with their 6th studio album, Hail To The Thief. The band have also shared a live video performance of “There, There” from Buenos Aires, taken from the album.

Out now digitally, and available to pre-order as a one-off pressing, released on October 31st, the album comprises performances of songs in London, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, and Dublin between 2003 and 2009. The album was mixed by Ben Baptie and mastered by Matt Colton.

Speaking about the new live album, Thom Yorke says, “In the process of thinking of how to build arrangements for the Shakespeare Hamlet/Hail To The Thief theatre production, I asked to hear some archive live recordings of the songs. I was shocked by the kind of energy behind the way we played. I barely recognised us, and it helped me find a way forward. We decided to get these live recordings mixed and released (it would have been insane to keep them for ourselves). It has all been a very cathartic process. We very much hope you enjoy them.”

The one-off vinyl pressing is also available in a limited-edition red colorway from independent stores and on cyan-colored vinyl, exclusively from Radiohead’s W.A.S.T.E. store.

Thom Yorke recently co-created the critically acclaimed Hamlet Hail to the Thief, a frenetic adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, set to a deconstructed score of reworked songs from 2003’s Hail to the Thief. Rolling Stone UK said of the new production, “The biggest testament to Yorke and his co-writers that these worlds collide so seamlessly, as if they were always meant to be together.”

Marc Broussard Honors Ray Charles with “Hallelujah, I Love Her So” for New S.O.S. 5 Charity Album

0

Critically acclaimed Louisiana singer-songwriter Marc Broussard unveils new music as part of his latest charitable endeavor.  “Hallelujah, I Love Her So,” a rousing and robust take on the Ray Charles classic, is the new single and first offering from his forthcoming album, S.O.S 5: Songs of the ’50s, the fifth volume in his ongoing philanthropic S.O.S (Save Our Soul) album series, set for release this fall.

Originally written and recorded in 1956 by Ray Charles, Broussard’s expressive interpretation of this seminal standard sets the tone for the collection of classic 1950s-era recordings (except for one track, circa 1966), providing the basis for S.O.S. 5.  A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Love of People, a nonprofit organization based in Lafayette, Louisiana, Broussard’s hometown.

STREAM/DOWNLOAD THE SONG HERE.

“Ray Charles’ soulful blend of gospel and R&B has always deeply resonated with me, inspiring my own musical journey.” Broussard reflects, “The song’s infectious energy and heartfelt lyrics capture the pure joy of love, which I wanted to celebrate and share with my audience.  My aim was to honor Charles’ groundbreaking influence while infusing my own style and passion into the performance.  This song is a tribute to the timeless power of soul music and its ability to connect people across generations.”

Similarly, the charity Broussard has chosen holds special significance for him. He shares, “Love of People is a charity that my wife, Sonya, and I have personally supported and volunteered for over the years.  I have witnessed their impactful work firsthand and am thrilled to formalize a partnership with them. The goal of all S.O.S projects is to maximize the funds we raise for our partner organizations.  With the tremendous success of “Cry to Me” from S.O.S 2: Soul on a Mission, I felt that revisiting the music of the 1950s was a natural choice. It’s also clear to me that this era of music remains beloved by my fans and music lovers worldwide.”

John Williams, Founder and President of Love of People, emphasizes, “Marc Broussard’s unwavering support over the past eight years has been instrumental in the mission and growth of Love of People.  From his generous donations to our Community Thanksgiving and Community Christmas Gumbo, to his deep involvement with our Blue Monday Mission, Marc has shown up not just as an artist, but as a true partner in service.” https://www.loveofpeople.org/

Jon Pardi to Make Big 12 Football Championship History with First-Ever Country Halftime Show

0

Today, the Big 12 Conference announced that award-winning country music star Jon Pardi will perform at halftime of the 2025 Big 12 Football Championship on Sat., Dec. 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Pardi will be joined during the performance by the marching bands from both participating institutions as the Big 12 continues to blend innovation with tradition.

“I’m so fired up to be part of the Big 12 Football Championship game this year — and to be the first country artist to do it makes it even more fun,” said Pardi. “It’s going to be a good time – we’re going to give fans an unforgettable show.”

Pardi, fresh off the release of his critically-acclaimed fifth album HONKYTONK HOLLYWOOD, has racked up six No. 1 singles — including his current Top 10 lead single “Friday Night Heartbreaker” — and over a decade of modernizing honky tonk with roaring guitars and an infectious, good-time spirit. His name has become closely tied to football, from performing at the College Football Playoff to having his “Night Shift” music video debut on ESPN as a lead-in to kick-off, and even announcing an NFL Draft pick for his beloved San Francisco 49ers.

The “Big 12 Day Pardi” at the Big 12 Football Championship will kickoff at 11 a.m. CT on Sat., Dec. 6 at the home of the Dallas Cowboys on ABC. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. CT on Thurs., August 14, exclusively via SeatGeek.

Tickets are priced across eight different levels, starting at $109 for general public. Each university who participates in the Big 12 Football Championship will be allotted 4,000 tickets, which will be made available upon qualification and distributed by the qualified member institutions’ ticket offices. Additionally, participating schools will be awarded 1,500 tickets for marching bands and students.

The first team to qualify for the game will occupy the home bench while the other will have the visiting team bench.

MCA Nashville artist Jon Pardi began careening down the highway over ten years ago, leading the charge to modernize honkytonk with roaring guitars and a good-time spirit. Pardi’s reputation for punchy, against-the-wind bravado has only grown, with his just-released fifth studio album HONKYTONK HOLLYWOOD led by the now Top 10 single “Friday Night Heartbreaker.” The 17-track album is the spiritual successor to his fearless breakout hits, once again showcasing his commitment to staying true to himself, yet giving his signature sound a new spark. With four Top 5 albums under his belt – including 2016’s Platinum #1, CALIFORNIA SUNRISE – Pardi has solidified his place in country music. Never afraid to break from the pack, fourteen RIAA-certified singles feature six No. One’s (like the back-to-back 6x-Platinum “Head Over Boots” and “Dirt On My Boots”), and with years of blue-collar barnstorming behind him, the California native has earned his international headlining acclaim, alongside 9.3 billion global streams.

6 Adventures That Hit the Reset Button on Your Life

0

By Mitch Rice

If you feel like your life is stuck on repeat and you’re moving through the same grooves with the same scenes on autopilot, it’s time for a change. When journaling or therapy feels like it’s getting you nowhere, nothing will bring you back to life like a new adventure. Novelty is the key to getting unstuck

Here are six bold resets that will reboot your whole system.

1. An ayahuasca ceremony

Most people think of ayahuasca as this mind-bending, psychedelic vine tea from the rainforest but for those who participate in a genuine ceremony, it’s a major healing experience and can be a life reset. Studies have shown that psychedelic experiences held with intention and proper guidance can dissolve old, stuck narratives and ignite a profound sense of clarity. Once you experience it, you realize an ayahuasca ceremony isn’t about the visuals. Visions seem to be a surface-level experience resulting from the deep inner work being done that uncovers and heals buried trauma.

Instead of being just another mental process that has you rehashing your childhood for decades, ayahuasca provides a full body emotional recalibration. But you don’t just release old traumas. You emerge with a brand new view of the world. Everything that used to define you no longer applies. When you attend a reputable retreat, like the ones hosted by New Life Rising, you get to experience all of this in a safe, controlled, and supportive environment. The structure of a ceremony will create a strong bond between you and the other participants, and you’ll experience transformation together.

2. Take a solo trip without any plans

Sometimes the best reset is found in the unfamiliar. Packing your bags and heading to a destination without any plans will give you a dopamine boost that can enhance creativity and happiness. Without a plan, your full curiosity will be engaged and you’ll be free to discover things you would have otherwise missed. You’ll run on instinct and find joy in places you never considered.

Planned trips create expectations that can derail your fun. When you take a spontaneous trip, your brain is free to wander without deadlines. You don’t have to worry about getting back to your hotel by a certain time or waking up at 4am to avoid missing something. This experience can provide a refreshing reset to your nervous system.

3. Attend a silent retreat

Adventures don’t always need to be full of noise and chaos. Often, silence can achieve the same result. When you attend a silent retreat, your mind will be trained to slow down and you won’t be influenced by the world. All that external noise will disappear and you’ll feel relieved without all that pressure. It’s not dramatic, but it is life changing.

4. Do something that scares you

When you do something that scares you, your confidence will expand, and you’ll feel more alive. You don’t need to become a thrill seeker who constantly jumps out of planes and bungee jumps just to maintain an adrenaline rush, but you can use these kinds of activities to snap out of a rut.

One small brave action will give you the confidence to experiment more often and push fear aside. Beyond the adrenaline rush, doing something that scares you will help you build resilience and expand your awareness of life.

5. Go off grid for a weekend

Nothing beats heading out to the woods or the mountains for a weekend retreat without technology. While you should bring your phone with you for emergencies, keep it turned off the whole time (not just on silent). Without all those notifications, phone calls, and text messages, it will just be you and nature. Your brain will experience a sensory detox, and you’ll develop a deeper presence with nature. Going dark in the wild will reboot your nervous system and remind you of what truly matters.

6. Do something physically demanding

Whether you go for a long hike, a tough climb, or run a 5k, physical exertion can hammer out that mental sludge weighing you down. You’ll gain physical strength and endurance in the process, but you’ll also feel mentally strong.

Reset your life

Taking time out to reset isn’t laziness. When your routine is stale, it’s time to shake things up. Choose an adventure that makes you light up and then jump. Kick stagnation to the curb and watch your life reboot.

Why Choose Solar Generator for Your Outdoor Adventures?

0

By Mitch Rice

Picture this: You’re deep in the wilderness, setting up camp as the sun begins to set, only to realize your essential devices are running low on power. Traditional gas generators are bulky, noisy, and environmentally harmful – not exactly ideal for those seeking an authentic outdoor experience. Enter solar generators, the revolutionary solution transforming how outdoor enthusiasts power their adventures. These portable powerhouses harness the sun’s energy, offering a clean, quiet, and limitless source of electricity wherever your journey takes you. Whether you’re camping in remote locations, overlanding across challenging terrain, or simply wanting reliable backup power for outdoor activities, solar generators provide the perfect blend of convenience and sustainability. In this guide, we’ll explore why these innovative devices are becoming the go-to power solution for outdoor enthusiasts, diving into their technology, benefits, and practical applications for your next adventure.

Solar Generators 101: Powering Adventures Sustainably

At the heart of every solar generator lies a sophisticated system designed to transform sunlight into reliable power for your outdoor needs. These portable power stations combine solar panels, high-capacity batteries, and advanced inverters to create a complete energy solution. The solar panels capture sunlight using photovoltaic cells, converting solar energy into direct current (DC) electricity. This power flows through a charge controller, which optimizes the charging process and protects the battery from overcharging. The battery, typically lithium-ion technology, stores this energy for use whenever needed. When you plug in your devices, the inverter converts the stored DC power into alternating current (AC) electricity, the standard form used by most electronics. Unlike traditional generators that require constant fuel resupply and maintenance, solar generators operate silently and independently, needing only sunlight to recharge. Their modular design allows for easy transport and setup, with many models featuring wheeled cases or backpack-compatible configurations. This fundamental shift from fuel dependency to solar power represents a significant advancement in portable energy solutions, making them ideal companions for any outdoor adventure.

Unmatched Benefits for Outdoor Enthusiasts

Solar generators revolutionize the outdoor experience by eliminating the traditional hassles of fuel-dependent power sources. Gone are the days of hauling heavy fuel cans, worrying about gas station locations, or calculating fuel costs for extended trips. These innovative power stations operate in complete silence, preserving the tranquil atmosphere of nature that draws us outdoors in the first place. Unlike conventional generators that disrupt wildlife and fellow campers with constant engine noise, solar generators work quietly in the background, charging your devices without breaking the peaceful ambiance of your surroundings. Their zero-emission operation means you can power your adventures while leaving no trace on the environment, aligning perfectly with outdoor ethics principles. In remote locations where fuel supplies are uncertain or unavailable, solar generators provide unmatched reliability by harnessing the sun’s endless energy. Their thoughtfully engineered designs prioritize portability without compromising power output, featuring lightweight materials and modular components that can be easily packed and transported. Whether you’re setting up a basecamp in the mountains, enjoying a weekend at a remote beach, or embarking on a cross-country road trip, solar generators adapt to your needs while maintaining a minimal footprint. This combination of fuel independence, silent operation, environmental consciousness, and versatile portability makes solar generators the ultimate power solution for outdoor enthusiasts who refuse to compromise between convenience and conservation.

Critical Features for Adventure-Ready Systems

Portability Essentials

Modern solar generators excel in balancing power output with mobility through innovative design features. Leading systems like EcoFlow’s portable power stations incorporate lightweight aerospace-grade materials and modular components that break down into manageable pieces. Foldable solar panels utilize high-efficiency cells with reinforced hinges, allowing for compact storage while maximizing power collection surface area when deployed. Weather-resistant construction includes IP67-rated enclosures protecting against dust and water immersion, reinforced corner protection for impact resistance, and anti-UV coating for prolonged sun exposure.

Power Capacity & Management

Understanding your power needs is crucial for selecting the right system capacity. Essential devices like smartphones (15Wh/day), laptops (50Wh/day), and camp lighting (30Wh/day) form your baseline requirements. High-performance lithium iron phosphate batteries maintain consistent output even in sub-zero temperatures, while integrated battery management systems prevent over-discharge and optimize charging cycles. Smart monitoring through mobile apps provides real-time power consumption data, remaining runtime estimates, and charging optimization suggestions.

Most systems offer expandability through parallel battery connections and additional solar panel inputs. Accessory ecosystems include DC-DC charging adapters, extension cables, and weather-protective covers, enabling customization for specific adventure requirements.

Solar Generators vs. Grid & Off-Grid Systems

Limitations of Grid-Connected Systems

Traditional grid-tied solar systems, while excellent for home use, become completely impractical for outdoor adventures. These systems require permanent installation, complex wiring, and constant grid connection to function properly. When you’re miles from civilization, whether hiking through national parks or camping in remote locations, grid access simply isn’t an option.

Off-Grid Systems Comparison

Permanent off-grid installations, commonly found in remote cabins or homesteads, offer reliable power but lack the flexibility needed for mobile adventures. These systems typically involve extensive setup with fixed solar arrays, dedicated battery banks, and permanent mounting structures. Solar generators, by contrast, provide instant deployment without installation requirements, making them ideal for temporary base camps and mobile setups.

One often-overlooked advantage of portable solar generators is their hybrid functionality. While primarily designed for outdoor adventures, these versatile units can seamlessly transition to home backup power during emergencies. This dual-purpose capability makes them a smart investment, serving both your adventure needs and providing peace of mind at home during power outages.

Your Step-by-Step Adventure Power Solution

Maximizing your solar generator’s performance begins with thorough pre-trip preparation. Calculate your daily energy requirements by listing all devices and their usage hours, then multiply by their wattage ratings. Ensure your generator starts at 100% charge and consider weather forecasts to plan charging windows. When setting up camp, position solar panels where they’ll receive maximum sunlight, typically facing south at a 30-45 degree angle, adjusting throughout the day if possible. Avoid partial shade as it significantly reduces panel efficiency. During operation, prioritize essential devices like emergency communications and lighting equipment. Charge high-capacity devices during peak sunlight hours, saving lower-power items for cloudy periods or evenings. Keep panels clean by gently wiping with a microfiber cloth and water, avoiding abrasive materials that could scratch the surface. Monitor battery levels through your system’s display or app, maintaining charge between 20% and 80% for optimal lifespan. For long-term storage, clean all components thoroughly, store panels in their protective cases, and maintain batteries at 50% charge in a cool, dry location. Regular maintenance checks of cable connections, port covers, and weatherproofing seals will ensure your system remains adventure-ready whenever wanderlust calls.

Embracing Sustainable Adventure Power

Solar generators have fundamentally transformed how we power our outdoor adventures, offering a perfect synthesis of convenience, sustainability, and reliability. These innovative devices free us from the constraints of traditional fuel generators while preserving the natural serenity we seek in the wilderness. By harnessing the sun’s endless energy, they provide a truly sustainable power solution that aligns with the principles of environmental stewardship. Whether you’re a weekend camper, an overlanding enthusiast, or a remote worker seeking off-grid freedom, solar generators deliver the perfect balance of portable power and ecological responsibility. As outdoor enthusiasts increasingly embrace sustainable practices, solar generators stand as a testament to how technology can enhance our outdoor experiences while protecting the natural spaces we cherish. Make your next adventure both memorable and sustainable by choosing a solar generator as your reliable power companion, and join the growing community of environmentally conscious adventurers leading the charge toward a greener outdoor future.

10 Times a Rock Keyboard Solo Stole the Show

Rock music often celebrates the power of guitars, but many unforgettable moments come from the keys. With Hammond organs, Moog synthesizers, and pianos, rock’s keyboardists have created solos that elevate songs into legendary territory.

Here are ten tracks where the keyboard solo delivers a defining moment.

“Baba O’Riley” – The Who
The sequencer-driven intro by Pete Townshend creates one of rock’s most iconic synth motifs. The swirling patterns set the mood and energy, shaping the song’s entire atmosphere.

“Bloody Well Right” – Supertramp
Rick Davies’ electric piano solo grooves with precision and style. Each note adds flair, driving the song forward while adding a layer of refined character.

“Foreplay/Long Time” – Boston
The “Foreplay” section bursts with organ energy and rapid-fire runs. Tom Scholz’s playing blends technical mastery with a bright, uplifting rock spirit before flowing into “Long Time.”

“Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding” – Elton John
The opening piano and synth arrangement moves through shifting moods and grand dynamics. Elton’s performance creates a sweeping journey that blends drama and excitement.

“Highway Star” – Deep Purple
Jon Lord’s organ solo blazes with classical-inspired lines and rock momentum. His Hammond work fills the track with a powerful, racing energy from start to finish.

“In the Cage” – Genesis
Tony Banks delivers a commanding keyboard passage with precise melodic runs and seamless transitions. The solo flows effortlessly through the song’s layered arrangement.

“Jump” – Van Halen
Eddie Van Halen’s synthesizer lead bursts with bold, uplifting energy. The bright, melodic lines set the song’s tone from the very first notes, blending rock power with a vibrant, anthemic spirit that defines the track’s identity.

“Light My Fire” – The Doors
Ray Manzarek’s extended organ solo explores vibrant improvisations with a jazz-inspired touch. Each phrase expands the song’s hypnotic, driving rhythm.

“Lucky Man” – Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Keith Emerson’s Moog solo rises with rich, evolving tones that create a sense of limitless space. The sound design and melodic phrasing lift the song into a grand finale.

“Roundabout” – Yes
Rick Wakeman’s intricate keyboard break sparkles with rhythmic precision and melodic clarity. The solo enhances the track’s vibrant, progressive energy.

Keyboard solos in rock bring a wide spectrum of color, texture, and energy. They can guide the listener through a song’s most memorable peaks and create unique musical landscapes that stay in the mind long after the track ends.

Why Skip Rates Matter More Than Streams in Today’s Music Industry

In the modern music business, stream counts have become the headline metric. Artists celebrate crossing the million-stream mark; labels use them as a shorthand for success; and playlists promote songs based on their daily and total plays. But here’s the inconvenient truth: not all streams are created equal.

A song might rack up impressive play numbers, but if most listeners are skipping it before the first chorus, does that really reflect engagement—or just algorithmic placement? This is where skip rates come into play, offering a far more telling measure of a song’s real impact.

What Are Skip Rates?

Skip rate measures the percentage of listeners who move on to the next track before finishing the one they’re currently playing. Streaming platforms typically track skips in the first 30 seconds, 60 seconds, and before the end of the track.

While each platform has its own threshold, the general formula is:

Skip Rate (%) = (Number of Skipped Plays ÷ Total Plays) × 100

For example, if your song had 100,000 streams and 35,000 of them ended before the 30-second mark, your skip rate would be 35%.

1. Skip Rates Reflect True Listener Engagement

Streams only tell you that a song was started. Skip rates tell you if it was finished.
A track with 500,000 streams but a 50% skip rate is effectively being abandoned by half of its audience—often before they’ve even heard the hook. That suggests the song isn’t connecting in the way the numbers might suggest.

In 2022, a Chartmetric study found that songs with skip rates under 25% were far more likely to sustain long-term playlist placements and algorithmic recommendations.

2. Streaming Algorithms Prioritize Completion Rates

Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music weigh skip rates heavily in deciding what to recommend.
High skip rates signal to algorithms that a track isn’t satisfying listener intent, which can result in fewer editorial playlist adds and reduced Discover Weekly or Radio inclusion.

Conversely, low skip rates can lead to exponential exposure—even for songs with modest starting numbers.

3. Skip Rates Reveal First-Impression Quality

The first 10–15 seconds of a track have never been more critical. According to Spotify for Artists, the platform counts a “stream” after 30 seconds, but it’s the moments before that mark that often determine whether a listener stays or goes.

High early skip rates often indicate issues like:

  • Weak intros that fail to grab attention
  • Long instrumental build-ups without payoff
  • Misleading genre or mood compared to playlist context

4. Better Predictor of Longevity Than Streams

Many viral hits see a spike in streams that fades quickly. Tracks with low skip rates, even at lower volumes, tend to grow steadily through word-of-mouth and algorithmic reinforcement.
A MIDiA Research report showed that tracks with skip rates under 20% remained in key playlists for an average of 22 weeks, compared to just 8 weeks for those above 40%.

5. Financial Impact Beyond the Play Count

Lower skip rates can lead to:

  • Longer average listening sessions (boosting your placement in user queues)
  • Higher likelihood of follow-on plays from the same listener
  • Increased saves and playlist adds, which drive recurring streams over time

Simply put: a listener who finishes your song is more likely to become a repeat listener—and a paying fan.

Implications for Artists, Labels, and Platforms

For Artists: Skip rates offer a reality check. They highlight not just whether your music is being heard, but whether it’s holding attention.

For Labels: This metric can influence A&R decision-making and marketing spend. Investing in songs with strong retention rates is often more cost-effective than chasing viral but short-lived spikes.

For Streaming Platforms: Lower skip rates improve user satisfaction, which is directly tied to subscriber retention. It’s in their best interest to surface tracks that keep people listening.

How Musicians Can Improve Skip Rates

  1. Hook Early – Bring your strongest melodic or lyrical idea into the first 10–15 seconds.
  2. Refine Your Intro – Avoid overly long intros unless they are instantly captivating.
  3. Match Playlist Context – If your track is on a chill acoustic playlist, make sure the tone and instrumentation fit the expectation.
  4. Use Test Audiences – Share rough mixes privately and track listener retention before release.
  5. Monitor Data Regularly – Use Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, or Chartmetric to spot trends and adjust strategy.

So Remember…

  • Streams ≠ Engagement – A play doesn’t mean someone listened all the way through.
  • Skip Rates Drive Discovery – Algorithms reward songs that keep listeners engaged.
  • Low Skip Rates = Long-Term Growth – They correlate strongly with sustained playlist presence and fan loyalty.
  • Artists Can Influence Skip Rates – Through arrangement, production choices, and strategic playlisting.

The industry’s fixation on streams is slowly giving way to a richer understanding of listener behavior. As algorithms grow more sophisticated, completion-based metrics like skip rate will carry even more weight.

For artists, focusing on skip rate isn’t just about pleasing the algorithm—it’s about crafting music that resonates deeply enough to hold someone’s attention in a crowded, distraction-heavy world. In the end, the real win isn’t getting someone to click “play”—it’s keeping them from clicking “next.”
